Mrs. Reda Gay Charles Tyson, age 58, of Douglas, Ga., passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005, at home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Tyson, a native of Pike County, Kentucky, was born September 22, 1946. The daughter of Fred Cecil and Lola West Charles. She was a homemaker and a member of Covenant Christian Church in Douglas, Ga.
Survivors include: two daughters, Sheilla Henry and Angela Tyson both of Douglas, Ga.; one son, Fred Goins of Ocala, Fla.; one sister, Freda Charles of Ocala, Fla.; parents, Fred and Lola Charles of Ocala, Fla.; grandchildren, James Gilliard and Cassidy Gilliard of Lakeland, Fla., Fredrick Goins and Brittany Goins both of Ocala, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 2, 2005, at 2 p.m., at the Covenant Christian Church with Rev. Gregory and Jackie Pope and Rev. Floyd Thompkins officiating. Music was provided by the Praise and Worship Team and soloist Jeff Pepper, and also Scott and Dawn Meeks. Interment followed in the Carver Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Mike Sheffield, Doyle Baker, Jerry Pope, Richard Bailey, Bob McCulley and Don Griffin.

Thelma Spivey
Mrs. Thelma Teresa Minchew Spivey, age 85, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Monday, April 4, 2005, at the Shady Acres Convalescent Center in Douglas Georgia.
Mrs. Spivey, a native of Ware County, Georgia was born June 20, 1919, daughter of the late Leslie Newbern & Imogene Griner Minchew. Her church membership was at the West Ward Street Church of God. She was a homemaker and the widow of the late Leo Spivey. Survivors include: Sons, Ferrnell “Red” Spivey/Wife, Mary, of Douglas, Georgia.
Roy Alvin Spivey/Wife, Felicia, Broxton, Georgia; Daughters Laveritt Spivey/Husband, Louis & Debbie Williams/Husband, Charles, Pearson, Georgia, Peggy Spivey; Sisters,\ Ethel Taylor, Alma. Georgia and Idell Boatright, Waycross, Georgia; 18 Grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, five Great-great-grandchildren. Great-great-grandson Victor Morales preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 7, 2005, at the Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leroy Spivey and Rev. Robert Spivey officiating.
Debbie Christie and Samantha Williams sang, “Look What I’ve Traded For A Mansion” and “Mama’s Prayer." Also Edward Davis sang “Serenaded By Angels” with Pattie Spivey, pianist. At the graveside services, Peggy Spivey, soloist, sang “Jewel In Heaven” and Robert Spivey with the congregation sang “Amazing Grace." Burial followed in the Tanner Church Cemetery. Suzanne Hollomon
Suzanne Hollomon, age 29, of Fitzgerald, Ga., passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2005, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Ga.
Mrs. Hollomon was born February 24, 1976, in Coffee County, Ga., to Larry Elliott Thomas and the late Nancy Jackson Thomas. A 1994 graduate of Irwin County High School, Mrs. Hollomon attended East Central Technical College. She was employed with Irwin County Hospital and Dorminey Medical Center. She was a member of Ocilla Baptist Church and attended Covenant Christian Church in Douglas, Ga.
Mrs. Hollomon is survived by her husband: Kendall Hollomon of Fitzgerald, Ga.; father and step-mother, Larry E. and Jennie Thomas of Douglas, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Chad and Christi Thomas of Douglas, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Rusty Roberts of Douglas, Ga.; grandmother, Mildred Thomas of Douglas, Ga.; one nephew, Blake Roberts of Douglas; three nieces, Rebecca Roberts, Madelyn Thomas and Reagan Thomas, all of Douglas, Ga.; one brother-in-law, Jonathan Hollomon of Kitsville, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Ocilla Baptist Church, in Ocilla, Ga., with Rev. B.J. Funk officiating. Interment will follow in Douglas City Cemetery in Douglas, Ga. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday evening at Paulk Funeral Home in Ocilla.

Estelle R. Merritt
Mrs. Estelle Roberts Merritt, age 78, of Nicholls, Ga., passed away Friday evening, April 1, 2005, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Laverne Streat of Nicholls, Ga., following an extended illness.
Mrs. Merritt, a native of Coffee County, was a retired Inspector for a local sewing manufacturer. She was the daughter of the late George Roberts and the late Mary Sears Roberts and the wife of the late J.W. Merritt.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Laverne Streat of Nicholls, Ga.; one son, Edsel Merritt of Nicholls, Ga., two brothers, Joe Roberts of Douglas, Ga., and Rev. William Roberts of Apopka, Fla.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 3, 2005, at 2 p.m., at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Kirkland officiating. Interment followed in the Carver Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were: John Roberts, Tippy Matlock, Dan Merritt, Billy Roberts, Stacy Anderson, and Ricky Roberts.

Dr. George M. Ricketson
Dr. George M. Ricketson, age 90, of Douglas, Ga., passed away Sunday, March 27, 2005, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga., following an extended illness.
Dr. Ricketson, a native of Broxton, Ga., was a retired Orthopedic Surgeon, in the United States Navy, after 30 years of service. Following his retirement from the United States Navy, he lived in the Sopchoppy, Fla., area, Franklin and Wakulla Counties for many years. He was the son of the late Homer Ricketson and the late Maggie Greer Ricketson. Dr. Ricketson was a member of the Broxton Methodist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Lillie B. Ricketson of Douglas, Ga.; two sons, Dr. George M. Ricketson III and wife Peggy of Pensacola, Fla. and Charles W. Ricketson Sr., and Heidi of Broxton, Ga.; three step-sons, Glynn Moorman of Ambrose, Ga., Dr. Larry Moorman of Tifton, Ga., and Clyde Moorman of Douglas, Ga.; one brother, Dr. Greer Ricketson of Nashville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held on Thursday morning, March 31, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Broxton Methodist Church with Rev. Elick Bullington, Rev. Steve Bullington and Rev. John Homer officiating. Special musical selections, ÒSweet, Sweet Spirit,Ó and ÒItÕs A Miracle,Ó presented by soloist and pianist, Mrs. Betty Brice Tuttle; and ÒBecause He Lives,Ó was presented as a congregational hymn, with Mrs. Betty Brice Tuttle accompanying at the piano. Interment followed in the Broxton City Cemetery with Dr. George M. Ricketson, III, reading of ÒTAPS,Ó and Mrs. Margaret Bullington concluding with a closing prayer.

Jeff Wilkerson
Mr. Jeff Wilkerson, age 81, of Leesburg, Ga., passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005, at Palmyra Nursing Home.
A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Wilkerson had resided in Leesburg, Ga., since 1988, moving from Albany, Ga. He was a retired automotive mechanic, a World War II Army Veteran and the widower of the late Bessie Smith Wilkerson. Mr. Wilkerson was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: three sons, Roy Gene Smith of Valdosta, Ga., Tommy Wilkerson of Leesburg, Ga., and James Wilkerson of Albany, Ga.; two daughters, Hazel Stroud of Lee County and Ruth Reynolds of Roberta, Ga.; one sister, Leona Knowles of Willacoochee, Ga.; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 4, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany, Ga.

Mrs. Patricia Meeks Hinson, age 70, of Douglas Georgia passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, in Austin Texas. Mrs. Hinson, a native of Coffee County, Georgia was born March 17, 1935, Daughter of the late Cecil & Minnie Lee Cannon Meeks. She was a retired South Georgia College Librarian, & her church membership was at the Douglas First Baptist Church. Survivors include: Son, Jack (Susan) Hinson, Douglas GA, Sister, Cecile (Dick) Whitley, Douglas GA, Nieces, Donna Royal & Dana (Wayne) Harper, Douglas GA. A Memorial services will be held at the Douglas First Baptist Church, 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 02, 2005 with Rev. Shep Johnson & Rev. Dan Johnson officiating. Paul R. Crampe
U.S. Air Force Veteran
Mr. Paul R. Crampe, 57, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005, in the Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross, Ga., following a brief illness.
A native of Fayette County, Penn. and a former resident of Brownsville, Penn., had lived in Douglas, Ga., for the past 18 years. He was the son of the late Paul Roy and the late Margaret Juanita Rohrer Crampe. He was a former employee of Elixir Industries of Douglas, where he worked as a Draftsman and was a veteran of the United States Air Force of Viet Nam.
Survivors include: two sisters, Sally C. Chalfant of Jesup, Ga., and Jenny Crampe-Blake of Saugus, Mass.; dear friends, Tom and Glenda Souls of Douglas, Ga.; two nieces, Peggy C. Dukes of Jesup and Lynn Blake of Saugus, Mass.; two nephews, Fred Chalfant of Jesup and Jack Blake of Saugus, Mass.; three great-nieces, Madeline Dukes, Maggie Dukes and Emmi Chalfant all of Jesup, and a very special aunt, Norma Joseph of Uniontown, Penn.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Brownsville, Penn.
The family requests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the March of Dimes.

Jackie Vickers Palmer
Mrs. Jackie Vickers Palmer, age 51, of Pearson, Ga. passed away Thursday morning, March 3, 2005, at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross, Ga., following an extended illness. A native of Clinch County, Mrs. Palmer was born June 20, 1953, the daughter of Jack and Jean Pafford Vickers. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Survivors include: her husband, Terry Palmer of Pearson, Ga.; two sons Jamey Palmer and Keith Palmer both of Pearson, Ga.; parents, Jack and Jean Pafford Vickers of Pearson, Ga.; one sister, Shirley Kokidko of Pearson, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Palmer were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Elbethel Church in Pearson, Ga., with Bishop Steve Sirmans and Bishop Dan Vickers officiating. Special musical selections included "In His Arms I'm Not Afraid" and "Stairway To Heaven" rendered by the Sweetwater Creek Singers with D.Q. Pittman on the guitar, Huey Bennett on the mandolin and Neal Gillis on the banjo. Soft Music for the prelude and postlude wasprovided by the Sweetwater Creek singers. The interment followed in Red Bluff Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were Volunteer Fire Department members Locky Joyner, Robbie Stone, Jody Guess, Lee Pittman, John Kight, and Robbie Grantham. March 06, 2005, at home following an extended illness. Mr. Graham, a native of Coffee County, Georgia was born December 28, 1953, Son of the late Cecil & Geneva Lott Graham. He was employed at PCC AIRFOILS Incorporated in Douglas Georgia & his church membership was at Reedy Branch Baptist Church.

Wealthy C. Holt
Mrs. Wealthy Corbitt Holt, 77, of Leesburg Fl. formerly of Pearson, Ga., passed away Monday evening, February 21, 2005, at her home following an extended illness.
A native of Atkinson County, Mrs. Holt was born February 12, 1928, daughter of Hobson and Laura Fussell Corbitt. She was a bank clerk for many years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Leesburg, Fl.
Survivors include: one son, Lee Corbitt and wife Renita of Valdosta, Ga.; three daughters, Linda Brown and husband Jerry of Centerhill, Fla., Clara Varnadore and husband Barry of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Ann Adams and husband Larry of Macon, Ga.; one brother, Curtis Corbitt of Pearson, Ga.; three sisters, Louise Goodman of Dublin, Ga., Cora Dasher of Albany, Ga., and Beatrice Pounds of Deland, Fla.; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Holt were held at 1 p.m ., on Saturday, February 26, 2005, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Marvin Goodman officiating. Special musical selections included “Farther Along” and “This Is Just What Heaven Means To Me” rendered by Jason Fender and Michelle Harrell with Francine Fender accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was provided by Francine Fender, pianist. The interment followed in Antioch Cemetery.

Clarence W. Bryant
Mr. Clarence William Bryant was born in Worth County, Sylvester, Georgia on June 6, 1931 to the late Ulysee and Lula Mae Tyson Bryant. Mr. Bryant was a loving husband, father, and friend to all that knew him. He went home to celebrate on February 16, 2005 at Coffee Regional Medical Center. Two brothers and seven sisters and one grandson preceded him in death.
He was united in holy matrimony to Carrie Bell Gamble Bryant on June 30, 1956 for forty-eight years. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Mrs. Carrie Bell Bryant and eleven children Rosa Mae Woodard, Clarence (Alinda) Ewing, Willie Edward (Judith) Bryant, Annette (Ray) Haynes, Jeanette (Wilson) Johnson, Patricia (Samuel) Ward, John (JoAnn) Bryant, Daryl (Bonita) Bryant, Jacqueline (Stacy) Lewis, Gregory (Willa Mae) Bryant and Lakechia Bryant. Two brothers, James (Melvina) Bryant and Columbus (Ernestine) Bryant. Five sisters, Lula Mae (Major) Davis, Ruth Gamble, Louvinia White, Carrie (Theodus) Sneed and Catherine (John) Bormus. Brothers-in-law, Weyman Rosier, Lonnie B. Burgess, James Charlie (Thelma) Gamble, Samuel (Beverly)Gamble, and Jay (Mary) Gamble. Three Sisters-in-law, Ida Lee Paulk, Odessa Merritt and Willie Mae (James) Cherry. A devoted grandson Artez Bryant and devoted Aunt, Essie Lee Martin. Twenty-four grandchildren, Ten great-grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1:00p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2005 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Wray, Georgia with Pastor Herbert Coney officiating. Interment followed at the Ocilla City Cemetery in Ocilla, Georgia. Active Pallbearers were Clinton Brockington, Dewayne Vickers, Willie Hicks, Lamar Manley, Albert Thomas, Larry Douglas, Kevin Smith and Tommy Pitts. Honorary Pallbearers were Com. Frank Jackson, Roosevelt Jackson, Alfred Edwards, E. J. Wells, Roy Armour, Albert Reese, Roosevelt Moses and John Johnson.

Mr. Burnell Anderson, 68, of Douglas Ga., passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at Coffee Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mr. Anderson, a native of Atkinson County, Ga., was born September 16, 1936, the son of the late Thomas Henry and Annie Lee O’Neal Anderson. He was a Coffee County Public School System bus driver.
Survivors include: his wife, Ruby Hall Anderson, two daughters, Angela Batten and husband Ronnie of Ambrose, Ga., and Donna O’Steen, and husband Kenneth, of Douglas, Ga.; two sisters, Verneil Hall and husband Chester and Doris Hayes, all of Willacoochee Ga.; four grandchildren, Amy Bradford and husband Scott of Ambrose, Ga., Ben Batten and wife Kristi of Ambrose, Ga., Kendra O’Steen of Douglas, Ga., Kacie Fletcher and husband Brandon of Fitzgerald, Ga.; one great- grandchild, Adrien Bradford of Ambrose, Ga.
Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m., on Friday, February 25, 2005, at the Saint Illa Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph Lee, Rev. Jimmy McMillan and Rev. Willie Daniel Guthrie officiating. Saint Illa Church Choir sang, “Precious Memories” with Sharon Lott, accompanying at the piano; David Kirkland, Patsy and Larry Spivey sang, “What A Day That Will Be” with Lois Mills, accompanying at the piano. Lois Mills also read a letter to the Burnell Anderson Family from Chuck Sims, Rep Dist 169. Interment followed in the Satilla Gardens Cemetery.

Virginia S. Rhoades
Mrs. Virginia Ann Stevenson Rhoades, 76, of Tifton, Ga., passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2005, at Southern Care Retirement Home in Tifton Ga.
Mrs. Rhoades, a native of Crawford County, Pennsylvania was born May 18, 1928, the daughter of the late Guy and Boneta Acker Stevenson. She was a homemaker and had retired from the State of Pennsylvania Department of Welfare. She was the widow of the late Norman G. Rhoades.
Survivors are one daughter, Rhonda Ann Colton and husband, Bob of Douglas, Ga.; two grandchildren, Michelle Colton and Robert L. Colton, Jr., both of Douglas, Ga.; one sister, June Mahoney of Arcadia, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., on Saturday, February 26, 2005, at the Sims Funeral Home Chapel in Douglas, Ga., with Rev. Greg Pope officiating. Soloist/pianist, Judy Foskey sang “Welcome To Heaven” and “I Can Only Imagine”. Interment followed in the Douglas City Cemetery.
