Judy Ann Williams Burch
Mrs. Judy Ann Williams Burch, 55, of Willacoochee, Ga., passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 14, 2004, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Burch, a native of Ben Hill County, Ga., was the daughter of Doris Boyd Williams and the late Edward Williams. She had lived in the Coffee County area for many years in the Mora community. She had been employed with PCC Airfoils for several years as a line inspector, had previously worked with a local sewing factory, and was a member of Mora Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Johnny Burch of Willacoochee, Ga.; her mother, Doris Boyd Williams of Willacoochee, Ga.; three brothers, Eugene Pete Williams of Jacksonville, Fla., David Williams of Sidel, La., and George Williams of Tickfaw, La.; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 17, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Mora Baptist Church, with Rev. Bobby Fussell, Rev. Dennis Harper, and Rev. Olem Bennett officiating. Special musical selections, "Rock I Am Leaning On" and "Swing Wide The Gates," were rendered by the Mora Baptist Church Choir, with
Kathy Merritt accompanying at the piano, and "Beulah Land" was presented by soloist Tonya Pridgen, with taped music. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Joey Morris, Andrew McKinnon, Monroe McKinnon, Jr., Plenn Moore, Larry Benton, Sr., Archie Hodge, Johnny Ward, Eddie O'Steen, Kermit Sears, and Richard Luke.

Sarah Elizabeth Reece
Miss Sarah Elizabeth Reece, 83, of Douglas, Ga., passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at home following an extended illness.
Miss Reece, a native of Ben Hill County, Ga., was born January 28, 1921, the daughter of the late John Riley, Sr., and Cora Gean Slater Reece. She was a retired public school teacher, having taught 40 years, and was a member of Douglas First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: three sisters, Frances Gaskins of Douglas, Ga., Virginia Ray of Swainsboro, Ga., and Mary L. Braswell and husband, John W., of Columbus, Ga.; nieces and nephews, Lenora Jinwright and husband, Noah, Diane Dimsdale and husband, Mike, Ann Kea and husband, Gene, John Gaskins and wife, Gail, Randall Ray, Donald Ray and wife, Linda, Sandra Bailes and husband, David, Brian Braswell and wife, Lori, David Reece and wife, Lachelle, and Steven Reece; sister-in-law, Elsie Reece. Miss Reece was preceded in death by two brothers, John R. Reece and W. O. Reece.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 10, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Douglas First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Benji Varnell officiating. Soloist Dr. Diskin Morgan sang "It Is Well With My Soul" and "Nearer My God To Thee," with Louis Sinclair accompanying at the organ. Burial followed in the Satilla Gardens Cemetery.

Kathryn Bertie Goode Blankenship
Mrs. Kathryn Bertie Goode Blankenship, 80, of Broxton, Ga., passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Blankenship, a native of Tift County, Ga., was born April 1, 1924, the daughter of the late Sam and Annie Bell Bryant Goode. She was a homemaker, the widow of the late James William Blankenship, and a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Laverne Blankenship of West Green, Ga., Diane Howard of Broxton, Ga., and Brenda K. Stone of Pearson, Ga.; one son, James T. Blankenship of Douglas, Ga.; three brothers, Harold Goode, Sam Goode, and Edward Goode, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 9, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Providence Baptist Church, with Rev. Scott Smith officiating. James Deen gave the eulogy. Soloist Glenda Courson sang "Walk Around Me Jesus," The Providence Church Choir sang "Meeting in the Air," and Marlon Smith sang "I'm Going to Take a Vacation," with Georgiann O'Steen accompanying at the piano. Burial followed in the Lone Hill Church Cemetery.

Sarah Ellen Trimble Barron
Mrs. Sarah Ellen Trimble Barron, 33, of Broxton, Ga., passed away Friday, April 9, 2004, as a result of injuries received in a motor vehicle accident.
Mrs. Barron, a native of Bibb County, Ga., was born February 23, 1971, the daughter of Kenneth Alfred and Patricia Joan Harrell Trimble. She was a homemaker and member of GracePointe Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Rev. Ridley H. Barron III of Broxton, Ga.; one daughter, Abigail Ellen Barron of Broxton, Ga.; two sons, R. Harrison Barron IV and Joshua Blake Barron, both of Broxton, Ga.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Trimble of Macon, Ga.; one brother, Clay Trimble and wife, Amy, of Birmingham, Ala.; one sister, Tricia Stevens and husband, Neil, of Alpharetta, Ga.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 12, 2004, 11 a.m., at GracePointe Baptist Church, Douglas, Ga., with Rev. Eddie Christenberry and Rev. Jerry Winfield officiating. Special music was as follows: Keith and Tonda Soloman sang "God of Wonders," with the GracePointe Band. Also the congregation sang "Wonderful Cross" and "Sing To The King," an instrumental by Keith Soloman "Jesus, Joy of Man's Desiring." Burial will be held at Franklin, Tenn., on Friday, April 16, 2004.

Leahman Thompson Burkhalter
Mrs. Leahman Thompson Burkhalter, 82, of Douglas, Ga., passed away Saturday, April 10, 2004, at home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Burkhalter, a native of Tattnall County, Ga., was born March 14, 1922, the daughter of the late Willie Rufus and Edna Mae Purcell Thompson. She was a personnel director for the South Georgia College and Merchant's Specialty and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Earl C. Burkhalter of Douglas, Ga.; one son, Dr. Bill Bennett of Cordele, Ga.; two daughters, Janet Haworth of Valdosta, Ga., and Judy Burkhalter of Atlanta, Ga.; twp grandchildren, Conrad Haworth of Valdosta, Ga., and Brice Bennett of Marietta, Ga.; two sisters, Mary Jo Thompson of Milledgeville, Ga., and Gladys Durrence of Glennville, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial were held Monday, April 12, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Glennville City Cemetery, Glennville, Ga., with Rev. John Smith officiating.

Mr. Clayton Bennett Easom, 64, of Blackshear, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2004, in Pierce County, Ga.
Mr. Easom, a native of Crisp County, Ga., was born January 7, 1940, the son of the late Clayton Bivins and Mary Ruth Lott Easom. He was a heavy equipment mechanic.
Survivors include: two daughters, Cathy Smart and Sandra Smart, both of Blackshear, Ga.; one son, Clayton Easom of Nicholls, Ga.; two sisters, Sara Pittman of Ocilla, Ga., and Iomie Bartlett of Pitts, Ga.; one brother, Arthur Lee Easom of Sylvester, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Timothy James Easom, Michael Smart, Cory Smart, Reba Smart, Mary Moore, Regina Smart, and Tracy Smart; two great-grandchildren, Jennifer Easom and Darlene Easom.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 10, 2004, at Sims Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Richard Jeffords officiating. Soloist/pianist Brenda Smith sang "Go Rest High On That Mountain." Burial followed at the Satilla Memorial Gardens.

Harvey Fussell
Mr. Harvey Fussell, 84, of Douglas, Ga., passed away Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga., following an extended illness.
Mr. Fussell, a native of Coffee County, Ga., was born November 1, 1919, the son of the late Eddie and Beadie Harper Fussell. He was a retired farmer, a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of Mount Union Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Nellie Jo Daniel Fussell of Douglas, Ga.; one son, Norman Clifton Fussell and wife, Mary Jo, of Douglas, Ga.; one daughter, Jouida Ann Glisson of Douglas, Ga.; two brothers, Dan Fussell and Edsel Fussell, both of Ambrose, Ga.; six sisters, Wilma Brigmond and Bessie Paulk, both of Ambrose, Ga., Ella Mae Wiggins of Ocilla, Ga., Christy Vickers and Eva Kirkland, both Douglas, Ga., and Grace Nunn of Jesup, Ga.; three grandchildren, Felicia (Haley) Ellis and Bryan Clifton Fussell, both of Douglas, Ga., and Jeffrey Hinson Patton of Valdosta, Ga.; four great-grand-children, Lindsay Cothren, Ansley Ellis, Courtlyn Fussell and B.J. Fussell; one great-great-grandson, Abraham Hayden Morris; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Mount Union Primitive Baptist Church near Ambrose, Ga., with Elder Vernon Eckleberry officiating. Brian C. Fussell gave the eulogy. Brenda Eckleberry and Brad Riner sang "I'll Meet You In the Morning" and "What A Day That Will Be;" also, the congregation sang "Where We'll Never Grow Old," with pianist Hoy Courson providing soft music for the prelude and postlude. Interment followed in the Mount Union Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Carrie B. Clark, 97, passed away Saturday, April, 3, 2004.
Mrs. Clark, a native of Jacksonville, Ga., was born October 18, 1906, the daughter of the late William and Caroline Graham. She was the widow of the late Glenwood Clark, Sr.
Survivors include: three sons, Leroy Clark and wife, Virginia, of Detroit, Mich., Glenwood Clark, Jr., of Jacksonville, Ga., and Harrison Clark and wife, Evelina, of Redford, Mich.; two daughters, Barbara J. Bobbitt and husband, Bernell, of Chester, Penn., and Delphia Washington and husband, Wesley, of Detroit, Mich.; one sister, Mary Pace of McRae, Ga.; 39 grandchildren, 102 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by two sons, William Thomas Clark and Charles Clark, and one daughter, Ada Thompson.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 9, 2004, at Salem Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Ga., with Rev. Steve King, pastor, officiating. Special music was provided by the church choir and soloists Brenda Graham and Mary Jane Graham. Interment followed in the Graham Cemetery in Jacksonville, Ga.

Minister Sherman Lee Goolsby, Jr., 55, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2004.
Minister Goolsby was born June 3, 1948, the son of the late Elder Sherman Goolsby, Sr., and the late Mother Georgia Mae Goolsby. He was a member of Eva Chapel C.O.G.I.C.
Survivors include: his wife, Pearlie Mae Killerbrew Goolsby; four sons, Timothy Goolsby of Ambrose, Ga., Charles Goolsby and wife, Sylvia, of Broxton, Ga., Petrocellie Goolsby and wife, Shonda, of Wray, Ga., and Sherman Goolsby III and wife, Tonya; two daughters, Sandra Goolsby and husband, Albert, of Ambrose, Ga., and Shaunda Lee Goolsby of Wray, Ga.; three brothers, George Goolsby and wife, Alene, and Leonard Charles Goolsby, all of Douglas, Ga., and Edward Goolsby, Sr., and wife, Debbie, of Jersey City, N.J.; four sisters, Ella Brown and husband, Johnny, of Irvington, N.J., Alice Johnson and husband, George, and Evan Mobley and husband, Archie, all of Douglas, Ga., and Gwendolyn Goolsby of Rochester, N.Y.; 17 grandchildren; his step-mother, Geneva Goolsby; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Min. Goolsby was preceded in death by one daughter, Pearlie Ann Newkirk.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at the Eva Chapel Church of God in Christ in Wray, Ga., with Elder Andrew Mizell, pastor, officiating. Special musical selections were provided by Grace & Mercy and soloist Rahsaan Doctor. Interment followed in the Macedonia Cemetery in Wray, Ga.

George Anderson
Mr. George Irving Anderson, 63, of Douglas, Ga., passed away early Tuesday morning, April 6, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Anderson, a native of Columbus, Ohio, was the son of the late Charles Anderson and the late Jaunita Wallace Anderson. He was a retired truck driver, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era, and attended Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Adams Anderson of Douglas, Ga.; two sons, Chris Anderson of Daytona Beach, Fla., and George Anderson, Jr., of Holly Hill, Fla.; one step-daughter, Jami Burch of Douglas, Ga.; one step-son, James Adams of West Green, Ga.; one brother, Douglas Anderson of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; one sister, Betty Fisher of Pahokee, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mr. E. L. Stone, Jr., 82, of Pearson, Ga., passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Clinch Memorial Hospital in Homerville, Ga., following an extended illness.
Mr. Stone, a native of Atkinson County, Ga., was born April 6, 1922, the son of Elam, Sr., and Nancy Harrell Stone. He was a retired farmer and a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include: several nieces and nephews. Mr. Stone was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Stone Brown, and two brothers, Curtis Brown and Marvin Stone.
Funeral services for Mr. Stone were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. George O'Berry and Rev. Charles Brown officiating. Special musical selections, "Amazing Grace," "In The Garden," and "Precious Memories," were rendered by Christy Youngblood, Myra Musgrove, and Roxanne Musgrove, with Christy Youngblood accompanying at the piano. Mrs. Youngblood played soft music for the prelude and the postlude. The interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Mr. GeLarrell Davis, 55, of Axson, Ga., passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Ga., following an extended illness.
Mr. Davis, a native of Coffee County, Ga., was born June 7, 1948, the son of James Edison and Leona Blocker Davis. He was a kennel operator, enjoyed hunting and fishing, with his favorite pastime being alligator trapping, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pearson Ward.
Survivors include: his wife, Linda White Davis of Axson, Ga.; two daughters, Jessica Leona Davis Hall and husband, Timothy, and Becky Swails, all of Axson, Ga.; three brothers, Kenneth Davis and wife, Sandra, of Spanish Fork, Utah, Larry Davis and wife, Jackie, of Price, Utah, and Joe Elton Davis and wife, Frances, of Douglas, Ga.; three grandchildren, SarahKate Leona Hall, KelliLynn Hall, and Kelton Timothy Hall; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by two brothers, Lamar Landon and Drexel Landon, and two sisters, Hilda Kelly and Jerlean Porter.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Friday, April 9, 2004, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pearson, Ga., with Bishop Lamar Park officiating. Opening prayer was given by Elder James D. Carlson; first speaker and eulogy was given by Elder Kenneth Davis; second speaker was President Steve Sirmans; and the closing prayer was by Bishop Ray Carlson. Special musical selections included "I Know that My Redeemer Lives," presented by the Pearson Ward Choir, and "Nearer My God to Thee" and "God Be With You Til We Meet Again" were sung by the attending congregation, with Sister Ellen Hardee, who also provided soft music for the prelude and postlude, accompanying at the piano. Interment followed in Utah Cemetery, with a special song, "In the Garden," sung by Coline Corbitt and the dedication of the grave given by Elder Larry Davis.

Mrs. Lynn Lee Guess, 43, of Pearson, Ga., passed away Tuesday morning, April 6, 2004, from injuries received in a single motor vehicle accident in Atkinson County.
Mrs. Guesss, a native of Coffee, County, Ga., was born July 21, 1960, the daughter of the late James Lee. She was a homemaker and attended the Axson Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include: her husband, Donnie Guess of Pearson, Ga.; one son, Shawn Brown and wife, Bea, of Beaufort, S.C.; one daughter, Holly McDonald and husband, Shane, of Willacoochee, Ga.; one step-son, Payton Guess and wif, Regan, of Valdosta, Ga.; one step-daughter, Leyna Guess of Valdosta, Ga.; mother and Stepfather, Dorothy and Eddie Strickland of Waycross, Ga.; two sisters, Melinda Fogle and husband, Mike, and Michelle Corbitt, all of Waycross, Ga.; two brothers, Curtis Lee and Kyle Lee, both of Waycross, Ga.; three grandchildren, Dillion Brown, Cassidy McDonald, and Collier Guess; father-in-law, Eulice Guess of Pearson, Ga.; special friends, Eve Corbitt and David Gaskins; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Guess was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Lee.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 9, 2004, at the Axson Church of God of Prophecy, with Rev. Newton Cox, Rev. Leonard Pittman, and Rev. Joe Chancey officiating. Special music included "I'm Going Over," presented by Debra Cox and Angel Murray, with tape accompaniment, and "Go Rest High On That Mountain," played by tape. Soft music for the prelude and the postlude was played by tape. Interment followed in Hargraves Cemetery, with "Amazing Grace " sung at the gravesite.
