Keisha Ann Warren
Keisha Ann Warren, 16, of Willacoochee, Ga., passed away Monday, October 27, 2003, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas following injuries received in an automobile accident.
Born October 11, 1987, in Tift County, Keisha had made her home in Willacoochee for 14 years. She was in the sophomore class at Atkinson County High School where she was a member of the Spanish Club, FFA, as a class superlative, served as the 9th Grade Representative on the Homecoming Court, and had been a Varsity Cheerleader in the 9th and 10th grades. She was a member of Enigma Baptist Church and attended the Goodwill Assembly of God Church in Pearson, Ga..
Survivors include: mother, Ann Warren of Willacoochee, Ga.; father, Donnie Warren of Baxley, Ga.; one sister, Karmon Warren of Willacoochee, Ga.; one brother, Joshua Warren of Ray City, Ga.; maternal grandparents, Ottis and Linda Stone of Enigma, Ga.; maternal great grandmother, Virginia Stone of Douglas, Ga.; paternal grandparents, B.W. and Sandra Warren of Baxley, Ga.; paternal great grandmother, Verna Mae Warren of Nashville, Ga.; paternal great grandfather, Futch Yarbrough of Lakeland, Ga.; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services for Keisha were held at 3pm Thursday, October 30, 2003, at the Goodwill Assembly of God Church Family Life Center in Pearson, Ga., with Rev. Edward Mathews, Rev. Kevin Stone, and Rev. Larry Stone officiating. Special music included "I Can Only Imagine" rendered by solosit Josh Gurley, with Benjamin Harrell accompanying at the keyboards and "Amazing Grace" presented by the attending congregation. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was played by Benjamin Harrell. Interment followed in St. Luke Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Chaz Wood, Will Mitchell, Jake Relihan, Jake Dillingham, Jonathan Guthrie, Jason Watson, Daniel Clement, and Justin Warren.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the 2002 and 2003 Atkinson County High School Varsity Cheerleading Squad.

Mr. Wilber J. Crosby, 72, of Douglas, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2003, at Memorial Medical Center, Savannah, Ga., following an extended illness.
Mr. Crosby, a native of Atkinson County, Ga., was born June 5, 1931, the son of the late Joe Allen and Mary Jane Lindsey Crosby. He worked as a receiving clerk in the wholesale distribution business and attended Parkview Holiness Church, Douglas, Ga .
Survivors include: his wife, Betty Jo Stevens Crosby of Douglas, Ga.; two daughters, Peggy Crosby and Kathleen Chaney and husband, Wilson, all of Douglas, Ga.; two sons, Gary Crosby and Larry Crosby, both of Douglas, Ga.; two sisters, Ruth Newmans of Valdosta, Ga., and Edna Mizell of Jacksonville, Fla.; three granddaughters, Kayla Chaney,Kimberly Chaney, and Candice Crosby, all of Douglas, Ga.; one grandson, Matthew Crosby of Douglas, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 30, 2003, at Sims Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Lawton Watson and Rev. John Thomas officiating. Musical selections were "Sheltered in the Arms of God" and "The Last Mile of the Way" by the Parkview Church Singers, with Elizabeth Soles accompanying at the piano. Interment followed at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery, Douglas, Ga.

Mrs. Jackie Story Hutcheson, 64, of Douglas, Ga., passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2003, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Hutcheson, a native of Coffee County, Ga., was born September 10, 1939, the daughter of the late Allen D., Sr., and Ardelia Malphus Story. She was a homemaker, was of the Baptist faith and was the widow of the late Jeff Monroe Hutcheson.
Survivors include: three daughters, Brenda Lee Hutcheson, Jackie Teresa Jackson, and Peggy Sue Rutherford, all of Douglas Ga.; three sons, Jeff Hutcheson, Allen Hutcheson, and Michael Hutcheson, all of Douglas, Ga.; two sisters, Lois Harper of Douglas, Ga., and Mary Lee Carver of Ambrose, Ga.; one brother, Bobby Story of Douglas, Ga.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 1, 2003, at 2 p.m., at Sims Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ronald Rimes officiating. Musical selections were "Amazing Grace," by soloist Glenda Courson "Just One Rose Will Do," by soloist Paul Hutcheson, with Lois Mills accompanying at the piano. Also a taped selection of "Mother" was provided. Burial followed in the Douglas City Cemetery.

Wanelle Lott Yeomans
Mrs. Wanelle Lott Yeomans, 93, of Douglas, Ga., passed away on Thursday October 30, 2003, at Coffee Regional Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness.
Mrs. Yeomans, a native of Coffee County, Ga., was born February 26, 1910, the daughter of the late Warren and Margery O'Quinn Lott. She was a retired insurance secretary, a member of First Baptist Church of Douglas, Ga., attended Agnes Scott College, Atlanta, Ga., and she was the widow of Walter Lamar Yeomans.
Survivors include: one nephew, John Jarriel of Jacksonville, Fla.; one aunt, Elouise Maxwell of Brunswick, Ga.; several cousins.
Funeral services were held on Sunday November 2, 2003, at 4 p.m., at Sims Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Shep Johnson officiating. Congregational hymns were "Victory In Jesus" and "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder," with Lois Mills accompanying at the piano. Mrs. Mills also played soft music for the prelude and postlude. Interment followed at Douglas City Cemetery.

Mrs. Sylvia Ann Woodard, 61, of Douglas, Ga., passed away on Friday, October 31, 2003, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Woodard, a native of Ware County, Ga., was born September 14, 1942, the daughter of the Margaret Crews Hendrix and the late Edgar Hendrix. She was a lunchroom worker with Westside Elementary School and was a member of Central Baptist Church, Douglas, Ga.
Survivors include: her husband, Donald Oscar Woodard of Douglas, Ga.; one daughter, Harriett Leighann McCartney of Douglas, Ga.; three sons, Lee Jacobs and Lynn Jacobs, both of Port St Lucie, Fla., and Louis Jacobs of Douglas, Ga.; two sisters, Carla Altman of Augusta, Ga., and Marti Larsen of Baxley, Ga.; one brother, Eugene Hendrix of Macon, Ga.; three step-children, Donna Cothren of Alma, Ga., Rachel Woodard of Douglas, Ga., and Nichole Nasworthy of Waycross, Ga.; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 2, 2003, at 2 p.m., from Central Baptist Church, with Rev. Wesley Brown, Rev. Charles Williams, and Rev. Victor Gilbert officiating. Musical selections were "Lilly of the Valley" and "Precious Memories," rendered by Victor and Melinda Gilbert, soloists, and "Amazing Grace" as a congregational hymn. Interment followed in Central Baptist Church Cemetery.

Eva Marie Ware
Mrs. Eva Marie Ware, 56, of Pearson, Ga., passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2003, at Clinch Memorial Hospital, Homerville, Ga.
Mrs. Ware, a native of Jackson County, Mich., was born October 18, 1947, the daughter of Betty L. Able of Brownsville, Tx., and the late Doile James Ware. She worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart Super Center.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Edna Malissa Meeks Anderson
Edna Malissa Meeks Anderson, 99, passed away October 27, 2003, at her residence in Pearson, Ga., after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Anderson was the daughter of the late Jesse M. and Mary Jane Morris Meeks. Mrs. Anderson's life was largely devoted to her family and the Methodist Church. She was a pianist at the Pearson United Methodist Church for decades, a life-long member of W.S.C.S., serving as president and holding other offices that needed to be filled. She was a member and officer of the Woman's Club, Garden Club, and P.T.A. She was the widow of the late Robert Leo Anderson.
Had she lived until December 9, Mrs. Anderson would have been 100 years old.
Survivors include: her daughter, Jane Anderson Helms of Homerville, Ga.; grandchildren, Melissa Pearl Helms of Valdosta, Ga., Jeff and Cathy Helms of Homerville, Ga., Robert Anderson and Carrie Foster of Chicago, Il.; and great-grandson, Jack Helms III of Homerville, Ga. Also mourning are Frank Foster, Mary Florence Foster, Mary Miller, Mae Belle Lock and Thelma Darley. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Anderson Foster.
Funeral services were held October 29, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Pearson United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ellick Bullington officiating. Soloist Linda Davis sang "Face to Face," with Mrs. Jo Ann Johnson accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the prelude and the postlude was played by Mrs. Johnson, also. Interment followed at Sweetwater Cemetery.

Mrs. Bobbie Jean Williams 57, passed away on October 25, 2003, at Satilla Regional Hospital, Waycross, Ga.
Mrs. Bobbie Jean Williams was born September 10, 1946, the daughter of the late Warnell Brinson and Louis James Tomlin. She was the mother of the Church at Absolute Truth (Holy Ghost Temple In Christ, Inc.) under the leadership of Pastor Wendell and Prophetess Doris Burkett. She was the widow of the late R.C. Williams. Survivors: three adopted daughters, Sophia Vette Tomlin and Tonya Jefferson both of Nicholls, Ga., and Vernetta Gibson of Panama City, Fla; two adopted sons, Castavious Gibson and Pierre Moody of Nicholls, GA; five step-daughters, Bobbie Jean Palmer, Lavern Gibson, Dorothy Williams, Sandra Daniels all of Belle Glade, Fla., and Gwen Burkes of Sanford, Fla; three step-sons: Robert Williams, Jr., of Nicholls, Ga., Anthony Williams and Arthur Daniels of Belle Glade, Fla; four sisters: Bertha Johnson of Rochester, N.Y., Joann Jefferson of Miami, Beach, Fla, Freddie Kaye Grissett and Susan Thomas, both of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla; one brother: Jimmy Jefferson of Alma, Ga., five aunts Norma Jean Morgan of Alma, Ga, Shirley Sallet, Mary Wilcox, Jeanett Brock, all of Nicholls Ga, Maereatha Tomlin of Vero Beach, FL, Wilbur Smith, Donald Smith, Samuel Smith all of Alma, Ga, Larry Smith of Hollywood, Fla; 11 grandchildren; several of nieces, nephews, cousins, special God-children and several of very special friends. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by two step-children, Jackie Palmer and Rodney Williams.
Funeral services were held at North Coffee Church of God by Faith. In Nicholls, Ga., with Elder H.N. Turner, pastor, and Pastor Wendell Burkett presiding. Takema sang a solo, and Bishop A.J. Solomon sang "Don't Let Nothing Shake Your Faith in God." Burial followed at Nicholls Cemetery.

Johnny Lee Goodman
Mr. Johnny Lee (Billy) Goodman, 53, passed away on October 24, 2003.
Mr. Goodman, anative of Coffe County, was born was born July 5, 1950, the late Aggie and Truly Goodman. He was united in holy matrimony to Carolyn Graham Goodman on November 27, 1973. Mr. Goodman accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1982. He later joined Alpha & Omega Reformed Missionary Baptist Church, Detroit, Michi., where he served on the Usher Board.
Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Graham Goodman; and five children, SFC Carlos (Vanessa) Goodman of Fort Bragg, N.C., Daria (John) Goodman of Douglas., Ga, Ricardo Mitchell of Atlanta, Ga., Tiffani Goodman of Utica, Mich., and Nayati (Kira) Goodman of Detroit, Mich.; and eight grandchildren, Christophel, Cortez, Rakeem Brandon, Zekia, Daja, Ashlon and Destini; a special daughter, LiNetha Goodman of Douglas, Ga.; a loving mother-in-law, Mrs. Adell Graham of Douglas, Ga.; one brother, Aggie (Georgia) Goodman, Jr., of Milwaukee, Wisc.; five sisters, Louise Graves of Coca Beach, Fla., Juanita Darby, Lurlyne Williams, Jurell (Windell) Brockington, and Shirley Jordan, all of Douglas, Ga., six aunts, Vera Goodman, Estell Lewis, Lucy Shepard, Essie Mae Green, and Lily Whitfield, all of Milwalkee, Wisc., and Pauline Goodman of Tallahassee, Fla.; several nieces. nephews, cousins and friends. Three sisters and two brothers proceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 1, 2003, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Douglas, Ga., with Rev. James Ingram and Rev. Oscar Wells officiating. LiNetha Goodman sang a solo. Burial followed at the Sunnyside Cemetery.

Iris Tucker Sapp
Iris Tucker Sapp, 81, of Berrien County, Ga., passed away Friday, October 31, 2003, at Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla, Ga.
Mrs. Sapp, a native of Berrien County, Ga., was born February 18, 1922, the daughter of the late Willie and Naomi Paulk Tucker. Mrs. Sapp lived in Berrien County most of her life and was a former resident of Douglas, Ga. She was a homemaker, a former employee of Union Pharmacy in Douglas, a member of Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County, and the widow of the late Richard Harvey Sapp.
Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Glynn and Brenda Sapp of Alapaha, Ga., and Randy Sapp of Tifton, Ga.; one grandson, Richard Andrew "Drew" Sapp of Tifton, Ga.; one sister and brother-in-law, Clarice and Nelson Boykin of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Audrey Tucker of Waycross, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11am, Monday, November 3, 2003, at Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County, with Elder Paul Thomas, Elder Maurice Riner, and Elder Elliott Tucker officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Samantha Lynn Harrell Reyes, 25, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Pearson, Ga., passed away Friday, October 17, 2003, at Brandon Regional Hospital in Brandon, Fla., following a brief illness.
Mrs. Reyes, a native of Lanier County, Ga., was born February 1, 1978, the daughter of Cathy Harrell and the late Michael D. Harrell. She had made her home in Pearson, Ga., before moving to Tampa three years ago. She was a homemaker and had previously worked as a clerk in a convenience store.
Survivors include: her husband, Augustin Reyes of Tampa, Fla.; one daughter, Carmela Rose Reyes of Tampa, Fla.; mother, Cathy Harrell of Whittier, N.C.; one sister, Michele Hamilton of Pearson, Ga.; one brother, Michael A. Harrell of Pearson, Ga.; paternal grandmother, Ruth Harrell of Pearson, Ga.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at Ozias Freewill Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Special musical selections, "Drink from the Fountain" and "Wish You Were Here," were offered by tape. Pianist Lynn Hardeman provided soft music for the prelude and postlude. Interment followed in the Sunnyside Cemetery.

Shabrika Lashea Curry, 10 of Douglas, Ga., passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2003.
Shabrika was born February 15, 1993, and wasthe was daughter of Alice Curry and Gary Jackson.

Mr. Wilford Burkhalter, 54, of Douglas, Ga., passed away early Tuesday morning, October 21, 2003, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Burkhalter, a native of Douglas and, Coffee County, Ga., was the son of the late Woodrow W. Burkhalter and the late Thelma Lindsey Burkhalter. Was a retire truck driver of dry frieght. He had previously worked with Lott Builders. Mr. Burkhalter was a member of the West Ward street Church of God.
Survivors include: His wife, Dollie Morton Burkhalter of Douglas, Ga. two sons: Jesse Burkhalter, and wife, Joan Burkhalter; Woodrow "Pee Wee" Burkhalter, and wife, Angie; all of Douglas, Ga; two daughters Belinda Whiddon and husband, Paul Kristina Lindsey, and husband, Dr. Griff , all of Douglas, Ga., one brother, Danny Burkhalter of Douglas, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 23, 2003, at 2 p.m., at West Ward Street Church of God, with Rev. Jesse Ogden, Rev. Allen Peacock, and Rev. Clydine Sprouse officiating. Special musical selections were, "Allelluia Chorus", "The Light House", and "Sheltered in the arms of God", presented by Danny Burns, Janet Burns, Derick Soles, with Tanya Burns, at the piano. "Where Angels fear to tread" by the soloist, Allison R. Gillespie.
The interment followed in the Satilla Memorial Gardens.
