Mr. Elgin Levi Moon, 71, of Jackson Street, College Park, Ga. and formerly of Hogansville died Dec. 26, 1997 at South Fulton Medical Center in East Point, Ga.
Mr. Moon was born June 17, 1926 in Heard County, Ga., to Hattie (Ogle) Moon and the late Thomas Henry Moon. He was employed at Ford Motor Company in Hapeville.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the chapel of Herschel McDaniel Funeral Home of Fairburn. Officiating were Ralph Baker and Harold Lowry. Interment was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in College Park, Ga.

Mrs. Mae Bell Thomas, 59, of Luthersville died Dec. 25, 1997, at her home.
Born March 7, 1938 in Meriwether County, Mrs. Thomas was the daughter of the late Rev. Wesley and Kate Thrash Strozier. She was a member of Clark's Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Chosen Few Club.
A graduate of Luthersville High School, Mrs. Thomas earned a bachelor's degree in education from Fort Valley State College. She taught for many years and worked as a security supervisor.
A funeral was conducted Tuesday at Clark's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. J.C. Neal officiating, assisted by the Rev. Rufus Strozier and the Rev. R.W. Sutton. Interment followed at the Temple CME Church Cemetery in Primrose with her nephews and friends serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include her children, Anthony (Debora) Thomas, Adrian (Erick) Carillo; grandchildren, Teron Thomas, Kia Thomas, Ericka Carillo, Brandon Carillon, Airielle Thomas; sisters, Mary Favors, Bessie R. Mr. James Alfred Campbell Sr., 70, died Jan. 3, 1998, at the V.A. Hospital in Dublin, Ga.
Mr. Campbell was born in Bibb County, Georgia, and lived in Macon most of his life. He owned and operated Campbell Construction Co. in Macon for over 30 years, was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was an Army veteran.

Mr. Strickland Marcus, 77, of Westridge Road, Atlanta, died Dec. 26, 1997 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Mr. Marcus was born Sept. 24, 1920 to the late Jim and Cora Marcus. He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 1942 to Feb. 1946. He later lived in Davenport, Iowa, and later Rock Island, Ill. He was married to the late Geraldine Marcus. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Davenport, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Jan. 3, 1998, at Clarks Chapel United Methodist Church in Luthersville, Ga. with the Rev. J. C. Neal, pastor, officiating. The Rev. James N. Moody Sr., pastor of Bethel A.M.E. Church of Davenport, Iowa, was eulogist; and assisting were the Rev. R. W. Sutton and the Rev. Grady Lawrence. Interment was in Mt. Calvary Church Cemetery in Moreland, Ga. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Clarks Chapel stewards and New Mt. Bethel Board of Deasons. Nephews served as active pallbearers.

Mrs. Wilson was born Aug. 7, 1906, in Franklin County, Ga. to the late William Thomas and Mary Evie Thomason Pritchett. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Garnet F. Wilson; a sister, Morene Ausburn; a brother, W. C. "Doc" Pritchett; a stepdaughter, Mary Bentley; and a stepson, Frank Wilson. She was a member of the Hillside Baptist Church, a former dietician for the Carnesville Schools lunchroom and was retired from the nursing staff at Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston, Ga.

Mr. Lester E. Allen, 84, of Martin Mill Road in Moreland died Jan. 5, 1998, at Newnan Hospital.
Born Feb. 17, 1913 in Fairburn, Mr. Allen was retired from Southern Bell and was a member of Scottish Rite and the Moreland Masonic Lodge. A U.S. Army veteran of World War Two, he received the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Distinguished Service Medal and the Purple Heart.
A service will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Moreland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patrick Janeen and the Rev. Gary Whetstone officiating.

Born Sept. 12, 1929 in Bibb County, Sgt. Daughtry was the son of the late Thomas W. Daughtry and was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Daughtry, and a brother, Bobby Daughtry. He retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years and was a retired detective from the Villa Rica Police Department.
Sgt. Daughtry was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mrs. Joan Bonner Jones, 46, of Cates Road in Newnan died Jan. 4, 1998, at Georgia Baptist Hospital.
Born Oct. 30, 1951 in Coweta County, Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late Nellie Ruth Bonner and R.V. Brittian. She was raised by the late Nettie Sue Freeman.
Mrs. Jones graduated from Central High School in 1970 and worked for 18 years with NCR in Peachtree City, where she supervised the rework department.
Mrs. Jones was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Newnan, where she served on the Mother's Board and was a member of the W.J. Johnson Gospel Choir, the Combined Choirs, the Female Ensemble, Pastor's Aid and Youth Ministry.
A service was conducted Thursday at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. W.J. Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Eastview Cemetery with the Zion Hill Baptist Church Board of Deacons serving as pallbearers and the Central High School Class of 1970 serving as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Lloyd E. "Bud" Kern, 72, of Grantville died Jan. 9, 1998, at Newnan Hospital.
Born June 21, 1925 in Skene, Miss., Mr. Kern was the son of the late Lawrence and and Louetta Litton Kern. A retired electrician, he was a veteran of World War Two and a member of First Baptist Church of Grantville.

Mr. Vernon L. Mentzer, 98, of Columbiana, Ohio died Jan. 9, 1998.
Born Feb. 13, 1899 in North Lima, Ohio, Mr. Mentzer was the son of the late Nelson H. Mentzer and Sadie M. Unger and the husband of the late Beulah H. O'Connor. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lindberg, and brothers, Melvin Mentzer and Ross Mentzer.
He lived in Newnan from 1953 until 1973.
Mr. Mentzer was a retired traffic superintendent in charge of shipping at William L Bonnell Co. in Newnan. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Columbiana, Allen Masonic Lodge #276 F&AM of Columbiana and Scottish Rite of Atlanta.

Mrs. Annie Lee Black
Mrs. Annie Lee Black, 80, of Union City, Ga. died Jan. 5, 1998 at South Fulton Hospital in East Point, Ga.
She was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Marshall and Lizzie Lee Craddick Hudson in Hamilton, Ga., Harris County, Dec. 2, 1917. She attended Hudson High School in Hamilton and at an early age joined the Friendship Baptist Church in Hamilton. Later she was a member of Greater Jehovah Baptist Church in Grantville and was a member of the New Royal Chapter #89 OES-PHA. She was married to Ernest Cartwright and they had one daughter, Mrs. Mamie Cartwright Evans. Sept. 27, 1948 she married the late Joe Frank Black, who preceded her in death. Siblings who preceded her in death include Mary Lizzie Williams, Gertrude Kennebrew, Marshall Hudson Jr., Willie Tillman Hudson and James Henry Hudson.
Funeral services were held Friday at Greater Jehovah Baptist Church, with the Rev. Oliver Wells, pastor, officiating, the Rev. B. J. Davis as eulogist, and assisted by other ministers. Burial was in Grantville City Cemetery. Serving as honorary pallbearer was Melvin Strozier. Active pallbearers were Ashley Stewartson, Allen Strozier, Bobby Strozier, Willie J. Strozier, James DeLoach and Joe Pope.

Mr. Rabon Haynes
Mr. Rabon Haynes, 67, of Newnan, died Jan. 10, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Haynes was born Aug. 18, 1930 in Roopville, son of the late Thomas and Aileen Braswell Haynes. He lived in Newnan most of his life, was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a retired painter.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. David Arrington officiated, and interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. Pallbearers were Chris Payne, Philip Haynes, David Addison, Kenneth Coshnitzke, Larry Colson and Ralph Seals.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Dale and Jeff Westbook of Sargent; sister, Mrs. Vivian Addison of Newnan; two grandchildren and a grandson-in-law, Jennifer and Jamie Adams of Franklin and Christopher Payne of Villa Rica; one great-grandchild, Chadwin Adams of Franklin; nieces and nephews.
