Mrs. Ann Chatman Conant, 88, of Decatur, died April 11, 1998, at Garden Terrace Nursing Center in Douglasville.
Mrs. Conant was born Jan. 21, 1910 in Heard County, daughter of the late John Thomas Chatman and the late Ella Yates Chatman. A resident of the Atlanta area most of her life, she lived in West Point for several years before making her home in Decatur in 1987. She was a member of North Decatur United Methodist Church. After retirement from Pure Oil Company in Atlanta after 20 years of service, she worked for the Fulton County Juvenile Court System and served as a Pink Lady at DeKalb Medical Center.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville with the Rev. Michael L. Marsingill officiating.

Mr. Craig was born in Fulton County, Georgia, May 5, 1928. He worked as an operating engineer and was a veteran , having served in the U.S. Merchant Marines.

Mr. Henry Grady Dennis Jr., 76, of Smokey Road, Newnan, died April 11, 1998.
Mr. Dennis graduated from Heard Co. High School and then Berry College in 1943, he was a member of the cross country track team, president of Christian Men's Union and was in "Who's Who of Colleges of America in Chemistry." He volunteered for military service when World War II broke out, and served as an instructor for combat infantrymen. He saw combat in the European and Pacific Theaters and earned the Bronze Star for heroism under fire.
Following WWII he returned to Heard County to teach veterans soil conservation in the Farm Training Program, and married Novelle Yarbrough and worked as farm manager for Lazy Lands Farm. Twelve years later he started his own registered Jersey farm and over the next 20 years built it up to one of the most respected in the United States. He received numerous State Production awards from the Jersey Cattle Club and Coweta Cooperative Dairies Inc. He worked with the State Social Conservation and Stabilization Program in Coweta County and served on County Zoning Reforestation boards, and was on the board for Georgia Farm Bureau. He was a member and Sunday School teacher at Unity Baptist Church and served on the Board of Deacons.
A funeral was Monday afternoon at Unity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul Dennis and the Rev. Danny Wilson officiating. Interment was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan. Pallbearers were Darryl Dennis, Sandy Dennis, Steve Dennis, Tim Carroll, Jimmy Yarbrough, Don Carroll, and Fred Lange. Honorary pallbearers were Unity Baptist Church deacons and the O'Dell Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Idella Wilkerson Person, 83, of Welcome-Sargent Road, Newnan, died April 8, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.
She was born Sept. 2, 1914 in Harris County, Georgia, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Wiley (Emma) Wilkerson. She was married to the late Walter Lenion Person and lived in Coweta County for several years. A son, Nathaniel Person, preceded her in death. She was a member of Kingdom Hall Baptist Church of LaGrange, Ga. and later joined the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Sargent.
A funeral was Monday at Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie L. Geter, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Tommy Harris, evangelist Pearl Moreland and the Rev. J. R. Williams.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Eugene Smith, Rowdy Smith, Reginald Person and David Stanley.

Mr. Robert W. Plunkett, 75, of Covington, Ga., died April 11, 1998 at Newton General Hospital in Covington.
Mr. Plunkett was born May 18, 1922 in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, son of the late John Clarence and Anna Janette Speakman Plunkett and was the widower of the late Louise Plunkett and the late Lorena Faye Henderson Plunkett. He was a 1948 graduate of Princeton University with a B.A. in Economics, and was a musician and Big Band leader. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served from 1943-46 with the rank of quartermaster second class and was the recipient of the American Theater Medal, Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal 1 Star and the Good Conduct Medal. After his military service, Mr. Plunkett lived in Pittsburgh, Penn. for 21 years, where he worked as head cashier for Pittsburgh Steel. He then lived for 20 years in Newnan, spending 15 of those years as business office manager for two area hospitals. He had been a Newton County resident for the past two years. Preceding him in death was a son, Conrad Phillips Jr.; and a brother, Jack Plunkett.

Mr. James W. Knowles of Glenmar Drive in Newnan died April 15, 1998, at Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.
Born Sept. 25, 1923 in Rock Mills, Ala., Mr. Knowles was the son of the late Ira L. and Maggie Lee Adamson Knowles.
Serving in the U.S. Navy during World War Two, Mr. Knowles was a flight engineer and worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He later worked for Lockheed Corp., Transcontinental Gas Pipeline, Plantation Pipeline and Alberta Gas Trunk Line in Canada.
As an associate with Iranian Management and Engineering Group of London, he lived for a while in Tehran. After returning to the United States, he continued his career with Construction Resources and retired from AMAX.
A graveside will be today at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. Bill Dean officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Vickery Knowles; daughter, Terry K. and George Nelms; grandchildren, Jennifer and Richard Chestnut, Margaret Anne Nelms, all of Newnan; and sister, Gladys Williams of Jacksonville, Fla.

Born July 22, 1917 in Philadelphia, Pa., Mr. Redman was retired from Bell Telephone. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Lions Club, Cannongate White Oak Golf Club and Golden K and an elder at Newnan Presbyterian Church. He contributed regularly to The Times-Herald's editorial page.
