Born October 10, 1955 in Hogansville, Mr. Burch was the son of the late William and Elsie Bray Burch. He lived in Hogansville most of his life before making his home in LaGrange five years ago. Mr. Burch was a cabinet maker, and a member of the Corinth Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held today, May 26, at 2 p.m. at the Myrtle Hill Cemetary in Hogansville, with the Reverend Ken Adams officiating.
Survivors include daughters, Stephanie Burch, Ayla Cheshire, both of LaGrange; son, Dylan Burch of LaGrange; sister, Linda Crawford of Albany; brother, Larry Burch of Thomaston; and three nephews.

Mr. William Alvin Holeman, 64, of Heery Road in Newnan, died May 24, 1998 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Decatur.
Born September 25, 1933, Mr. Holeman was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a truck driver for the William L. Bonnell Company in Newnan.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, at 2 p.m., at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan with interment following at Macedonia Baptist Church on Macedonia Road. Visitation hours will be held at McKoon Funeral Home today, May 26, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Mrs. Dorothy Meacham
Mrs. Dorothy Meacham, 81, died May 24, 1998 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center.
Born Dec. 13, 1916 in Fayette County, Mrs. Meacham was the daughter of the late Eghurst and Merttle Carrie Chapman Slaton. Mrs. Meacham was the wife of the late Reverend Harold Meacham of the Northside Church of God in LaGrange. She and her husband were residents of Waugh Road in LaGrange, Georgia since 1958.
Mrs. Meacham was retired from International Playtex of LaGrange, and moved to Newnan's Beaulieu in 1992.
A graveside service will be held today, May 26, at 2 p.m. Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home in LaGrange. Interment will follow at the Restlawn Memory Gardens in Lagrange. The Reverend Roy Frasier and the Reverend Tony Stallings will officiate.
Survivors include daughters, Ruth Shepherd of Newnan, Shirley O'Neal of Luthersville; sons, J.L. Meacham, Daniel Meacham, both of Newnan; seven sisters; one brother; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Howard P. "Howdy" Arata Jr., 56, of Newnan died May 23, 1998.
Mr. Arata spent much of his energy working with less fortunate people, especially the mentally handicapped.
Mr. Arata was a caseworker with the Fulton County Department of Family and Children's Services in the 1960s, where he became involved with the mentally handicapped. He earned a master's degree in special education and was special education teacher for more than 13 years. He is also remembered as a special friend of Tommie Smith for more than 30 years and worked as a citizens advocate, helping Smith live an independent life.
Mr. Arata and his wife lived for the past three years in Newnan, when he worked with Flatrock Middle School in Fayette County as a media specialist paraprofessional.
Survivors include his wife, June Arata; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Sandra Young and their son, Cy of Newnan; son, Antonio Arata and his sons, Jake and John, of Athens; son, Ryan Arata of Athens; father, H.P. Arata Sr. of Savannah; sisters, Mickey Johnson, Melissa Wells, Beth Faris, all of Savannah; and brother, Tony Arata of Nashville, Tenn.
The family is honoring Mr. Arata's wish that there be no memorial service and no gifts. Mr. Arata asked that those wishing to make remembrances to give an hour of their time helping someone less fortunate.

The oldest living member of First Baptist Church of Locust Grove, she was a retired teacher with 25 years of service. She taught kindergarten and first grade children in churches and public schools in Coweta, Henry, Fulton, Cobb, DeKalb and Gwinnett counties.
