Mr. Ken Guethlein, 55, of Lower Fayetteville Road in Sharpsburg died June 9, 1998 at Fayette Community Hospital.
Born In Gladeville, Tenn., Mr. Guethlein was the son of the late John Benjamin Guethlein. He was a U.S. Army veteran and owner of Superior Plans in Sharpsburg, where he also was an insurance broker.
Mr. Guethlein was a graduate of Immanuel Baptist Theological Seminary College and a pastor. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

Born Aug. 17, 1905 in Savannah, Miss Downs was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Rosa Southwell Downs. She was a member of Hay Street United Methodist Church and was a retired tariff specialist with Aberdeen and Rockfish Railroad.

Born June 29, 1922 in Lebanon, N.Y., Mr. Stowell was the son of the late Floyd and Cora Parkhurst Stowell and the husband of the late Reba C. White. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nina Stowell, who died as a child.
Mr. Stowell was a retired poultry farmer and attended Berean Baptist Church in New Berlin.

Mrs. Sara Smallwood Bassett, 85, of Hogansville, died Sunday, June 14, 1998 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Mrs. Bassett was born June 9, 1913 in Randolph County, Alabama, daughter of the late Andrew Thomas Smallwood and the late Bernice Bishop Smallwood. She lived at Hogansville most of her life, was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, and was the wife of the late Ace Bassett.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 17 at St. James United Methodist Church in Hogansville. The Rev. David Pickard will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dewey Evans, 83, of Hogansville, died Sunday, June 14, 1998 at his home.
Mr. Evans was born Sept. 26, 1914 in Randolph County, Ala., son of the late Thomas and Mary Bailey Evans. He had lived at Hogansville for more than 50 years, was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was a member of the Hogansville Masonic Lodge. He retired from Uniroyal Inc. in Hogansville, and for more than 30 years he owned and drove a school bus for the Troup County Board of Education. He was preceded in death by a son, Barry Evans, and a great-granddaughter, Kristy Roden.
A funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, at Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville. The Rev. Bill Perry, the Rev. Frank Powers and the Rev. Wesley Boatman will officiate. Burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Mr. William H. Smith of Belk Road, Newnan, died June 9, 1998 at his residence.
Mr. Smith was born the first of two children in Coweta County July 12, 1925 to Annie Lizzie Domineck Smith and the late Fred Smith. He attended Coweta County schools and later joined the United States Navy.
He was married to Martha Lou Jones July 12, 1947 and they had three chilcren. He joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served many years as chairman of the Board of Deacons. He was also owner of the Temple Avenue car wash.
A funeral was Friday, June 6, at Sellers-Smith R.W.S. Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ronald Groom officiating, assisted by the Rev. Hulon Kemp, the Rev. R. W. Sutton and the Rev. Julius Herron. Burial was in Eastview Cemetery. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Pleasant Grove Board of Deacons. Active pallbearers were grandsons and nephews.
