Born Jan. 11, 1911 in Green County, Mr. Barnes was the son of the late David and Mollie Browning Barnes. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and owned Barnes Country Store in Hogansville before retiring.
The funeral will be Monday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m. at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. R.C. Prescott officiating. Burial will follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Mrs. Lillie Smith Skannal, 84, of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Newnan, died Oct. 1, 1998 at Daniel Freeman Hospital in California.
Born Dec. 31, 1913 in Madras, Mrs. Skannal was the daughter of the late Joel and Mary Smith and the wife of the late Clabrone Skannal. She attended Coweta County schools and was a member of New Macedonia Baptist Church in Madras.
She later joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Los Angeles and First Bethany Missionary Church in Los Angeles, where she was a member of the Missionary Society and sang in the choir.
The funeral was Oct. 8 at New Macedonia Baptist Church, with the Rev. Willie L. Geter and the Rev. Rufus Smith officiating, assisted by the Rev. J.T. Coleman.
Burial followed at the church Cemetery, with Mark Rowe, Ellis Rowe, Leonard Rowe, Sammy R. Davis, Howard Blount Jr., Michael Blount and Willie Watson as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Leroy Hill and John Amie.
