Miss Ora Mae Borders
Miss Ora Mae Borders, 90, of McDonough, Ga. and a former resident of Hogansville, Ga. died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998 at Henry General Hospital in Stockbridge.
Miss Borders was born Jan. 31, 1908 in Columbus, daughter of the late John and Minnie Lewis Borders. Before making her home in McDonough one year ago, she had lived in Hogansville since 1935 and was a member of Antioch Bapitst Church. She retired from Uniroyal Inc. after more than 40 years of service
A funeral was 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Wesley Boatman officiated, and burial was in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Pallbearers were Roy Wright, Elmer Williams, Donald Neese, Ralph Gaddy, Alga Robinson and J. C. Daniel.
Surviving are a foster daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Jack Tomme of McDonough; four foster grandchildren; and six foster great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Martha Peirce Breyer of Moreland died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998 at her residence.
Mrs. Breyer was born in Birmingham, Ala., June 20, 1915 and was the daughter of the late Robert Grant Peirce and the late Mary Foshee Peirce and was the wife of the late A. H. Breyer of Atlanta. She was a graduate of Washington Seminary, a member of the O.B.X. Sorority, a model for Rich's Department Store, a member of various garden clubs, a volunteer and former member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, and a member of Newnan Presbyterian Church.
A funeral will be at graveside Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Arlington Memorial Park on Mt. Vernon Road, Atlanta, with Dr. Allison Williams and Harry H. Barrow, pastor of Newnan Presbyterian Church, officiating.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Lovenia Maloy "Connie" Ellinwood, 63, of Grantville, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998 at her home.
Mrs. Ellinwood was born August 11, 1935, in Coweta County, daughter of the late Robert and Velma Steele Maloy. She had lived in Coweta County most of her life and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was employed for many years at the Dunson Divison of West Point Pepperell and retired from Advanced Fabrics in LaGrange. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Lois White and Mrs. Vadis Bolt, and a brother, Carl Eugene Spradlin.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. David Arrington will officiate and burial will be in the Grantville Cemetery.

Mrs. Foster was born Aug. 28, 1911 in Anniston, Ala. to Mr. Bud Franklin and the former Minnie Pettus. She worked in the childcare field and was a member of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Claude Richards, 83, of West Highway 16, Newnan, died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.
Mr. Richards was born June 16, 1915 in Carroll County, Ga., son of the late Robert H. Richards and the late Lula Dukes Richards. He was a retired businessman and veteran of the U.S. Army, having served with the 342nd Infantry Divison known as the Blackhawks. He was a member of Sylvan Masonic Lodge and received his 50-year pin. He was a Giddeon and was a deacon at Arnco Baptist Church. He was owner of the Chevron Oil service station on Jackson Street in Newnan for 11 years.

Born July 24, 1912 in Newnan, Mr. Hines was the son of the late John Henry Hines and Agnes Smith Hines. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a retired supervisor at Uniroyal Inc.
Mr. Hines was an elder and former deacon, treasurer and Sunday School teacher at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Hogansville. He was a former president of the Hogansville Lions Club and was active in the Lions Lighthouse Foundation.

Mr. Arthur L. "Bub" Allen, 85, of Wagers Mill Road in Newnan died Nov. 5, 1998 at Franklin Healthcare.
Born Sept. 11, 1913 in Coweta County, Mr. Allen was the son of the late Lovic Pierce Allen and Ludie Pearl Gordon Allen. He was a retired supervisor and inspector with Lockheed and served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Mr. Allen was a past master of Sylvan Lodge #429 and received his 50-year pin. A mason for 60 years, he was a Royal Arch Mason.

Mr. Kirby was a lifelong resident of Randolph County, Alabama. He was born March 17, 1921, son of Bob and Bertie Kirby. He was employed in the textile industry, was a World War II veteran and was a member of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Sue Kirby.
A funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Quattlebaum Funeral Home in Roanoke, Ala., with the Rev. Phillip Johnson and the Rev. Scott McKay officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memory Gardens.
Survivors include one daughter, Ellen Bassett of Newnan; sons, Phil Kirby of Lanett, Ala. and Kenneth Kirby of Rock Mills, Ala.; sister, Bonnie Ferrell of Wadley, Ala; brother, Okley Kirby of Lanett, Ala; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rosa Lee Griggs Rosser
Mrs. Rosa Lee Griggs Rosser of Gardenia St., N.W., Atlanta, died Nov. 2, 1998 at Nursecare in Buckhead.
She was born March 2, 1907 in Meriwether County, Lone Oak Community, to the late John F. and Mattie Griggs. She was educated in the Meriwether and Coweta County School System and taught in the Lone Oak and Gates Chapel schools.
She attended all neighboring community churches and joined the Macedonia Baptist Church in Grantville at an early age where she served in the senior choir, Deaconess Board, Mother's Board and many other auxiliaries. She was the oldest member of the church. She also was an honorary member of the Uniques Golden Age Club of Perkson Park, Atlanta.
She was married to the late John T. Rosser and they had one daughter, Edna Rosser, and two sons who preceded her in death, John T. Jr. and Willie (Billy) Rosser.
A funeral was Saturday, Nov. 7 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Grantville with the Rev. C. Melson, pastor, officiating. He was assisted by the Rev. Hamp Long who presided and the Rev. James Booker, the Rev. Michael W. Baldwin, the Rev. James Bank, the Rev. Peris Lester, the Rev. H. D. Freeman and the Rev. W. J. Johnson.
Burial was in Camp Ground Cemetery in the Saint Mark Community near Hogansville. Serving as honorary pallbearers were the Macedonia Church Board of Deaons. Active pallbearers were Willie Brown, Clifford Hardaway, Robert Burson, Tony Hines, Tommy Favors Jr. John H. Render, Velma Griggs and Charlie E. Rosser.
Survivors include daughter, Mrs. Edna R. Williams; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Christine Rosser; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Horace (Arlena) Hardaway, Mrs. Daisy Dawson and Mrs. Oreatha Burston; brother, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis (Mary H.) Griggs; godson, Mr. James (Katie) Gay and family; a devoted sister-in-law, Mrs. Laura Favors; nieces, nephews.

Mr. Lum Smith
Mr. Lum Smith of Newnan died Oct. 31, 1998 at Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.
He was born April 15, 1906 in Carroll County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Wes (Ellen) Smith. He joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Sharpsburg, Ga. at age 15 and served there as a deacon from early adulthood until his health failed.
He retired from Newnan Motor Company after 50 years of service. He was married to Mrs. Lillie Maude Smith and they had two children.
A funeral was Thursday, Nov. 5 at Sellers-Smith R.W.S. Memorial Chapel in Newnan with the Rev. Ronald Groom officiating. Burial was in Eastview Cemetery in Newnan. Nephews served as pallbearers.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lillie Maude Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy (Eunice) Stafford of Decatur, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alphonso (Kesavia) Smith, of Newnan; three step-children, Mr. Rufus Cook, Mr. Edward Cook and Mrs. Marian Elder; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Anna W. Todd
Mrs. Anna Woodruff Todd, 81, of the St. Marks Community of Meriwether County died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998 at her home.
Mrs. Todd was born Nov. 20, 1916 in Meriwether County, daughter of the late Warner Hill Woodruff and the late Myrtice Smith Woodruff. She was a lifelong resident of Meriwether County and was a member of Union Baptist Church, and was the wife of the late Robert A. Todd.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 at Union Baptist Church in St. Marks. The Rev. Bob Harris and the Rev. Bob Prater will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bob Edmondson, Joe Brazell, Russell Willingham, Willis Woodruff, Fred Newman and Fred Smith.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Don Sims of St. Marks; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Todd to West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday evening.
