Mrs. Annie Jewell Harris

Mrs. Annie Jewell Harris, 91, of North Street in Newnan died Nov. 11, 1998 at Dogwood Health and Rehabilitation.

Born March 9, 1907 in Fayette County, Mrs. Harris was the widow of the late Milton Harris. She retired from Newnan Mills and was a member of Welcome Road Baptist Church.

The funeral was Thursday, Nov. 12, at McKoon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dwight L. Moody officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery, with Eddie Hayes Tony McElwaney, Archie Slaton, Donnie Slaton, Rickey Slaton and Jerry Hines as pallbearers.

Survivors include her sisters, Eulene Hayes of Grantville, Effie Patterson of Atlanta; nieces and nephews.

Miss Deneshia Talley, the infant daughter of Denise Talley of Newnan, died Nov. 16, 1998 at Newnan Hospital. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Sellers-Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gladys Myra Fields

Mrs. Gladys Myra Fields, 69, of Fields Road in Newnan died Nov. 19, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Aug. 18, 1929 in Cedar Key, Fla., Mrs. Fields was the daughter of the late Willie Mae Ingram Beckom and Marion DeVannie Beckom and the mother of the late Gordon Wilson. She was a homemaker.

A graveside service was Saturday, Nov. 21, at 4 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Grif Jones officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Douglas Fields of Newnan; sons, Michael Fields of Chiefland, Fla., Bruce Wilson of Newnan; daughters, Wanda Hatchett, Karen Segrest, Carol Ann Westra, all of Newnan, Lynette Ozmore of Panama City, Fla.; three sisters; five brothers; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Clyde William Castleberry

Mr. Clyde William Castleberry, 79, of Villa Drive in Newnan died Nov. 19, 1998 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Born July 2, 1919 in Hamilton County, Tenn., Mr. Castleberry was the son of the late Marvin Thomas Castleberry and Mary Jane Warren Castleberry. He was a retired sales clerk with Sears, Roebuck and Co. and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

The funeral will be Saturday, Nov. 21, at 4 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, with Dr. James Stewart and the Rev. Bob Daughtery officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, with Richard Bays, David Dean, Allen Hunt, Jeff Martin, Mark Scott and Michael West as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Ann L. Castleberry of Newnan; daughters, Jeannie Bays of McDonough, Linda West of Newnan; sister, Elsie Smith of East Point; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Willie Edward Cox, 67, of Newnan died Nov. 15, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Cox was born Feb. 22, 1931 in Meriwether County.

The funeral will be Saturday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. at Rocky Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Luthersville, with the Rev. Steve Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Bobby L. Brooks, Ricky L. Mack, Steven Cox, Curtis Cox, Carlton Brooks and Antwan Ferrell as pallbearers.

Mr. Charles M. Gaines, 51, of East Newnan Road in Newnan died Nov. 19, 1998 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

Born Aug. 21, 1947 in Coweta County, Mr. Gaines was the son of the late Robert Henry and Gertrude (McClain) Gaines. He was a residential painter and a Methodist.

The funeral will be Saturday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joel Heaton officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in College Park.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Beth Gaines of Sharpsburg; son, Michael Gaines of Atlanta; sisters, Dura Jones of Newnan, Annie Lois Bunn of LaGrange; and brothers, Harvey Gaines and John W. Gaines, both of Newnan.

Mr. Forrest Anderson Rogers, 45, of Decatur died Nov. 17, 1998 at his home.

Born Sept. 14, 1953 in Dale, Ala., Mr. Rogers was a marketing executive for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He earned a bachelor''s degree in political science from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

He was a member of Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church.

The funeral was Thursday at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John A. Simmons officiating. Burial followed at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker.

Survivors include his wife, Leslee Samuelson of Decatur; son, Luke Rogers of Decatur; parents, L.C. and Anne Rogers of Newnan; and brothers, Marshal Rogers of Rock Hill, S.C., and Kenneth Rogers and Thomas Rogers, both of Atlanta.

Little Miss Deneshia Talley of Boone Drive, Newnan, died Nov. 16, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.

She was born Feb. 17, 1998 in Coweta County to Denise Talley and Christopher Echols.

A funeral was Friday, Nov. 20, at Sellers-Smith R.W.S. Memorial Chapel with the Rev. R. W. Sutton officiating. Burial was in Eastview Cemetery.

Surviving are her mother, Denise Talley and father, Christopher Echols; sisters and brothers, Shandrikus and Jamarcus Talley, Tasheika Roberts, Christy Berry, Cortzy Berry and Keyrall Berry; grandparents, Deborah Snelling and Cecila Smith, John Smith, Larry Talley, James Woods and Willie Walker; uncles, Tim Archie, Howard Echols and Tetius Talley; aunts, Lisa, Freda, Sandra, Crystal, Tetsie Snelling and Natasha Archie; great aunts, Loretta, Joano, Ozie and Rosanna Snelling; 30 cousins.

Mr. William "Bill" Lee Adams

Mr. William "Bill" Lee Adams, 47, of Hamilton Drive in Newnan died Nov. 24, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Aug. 24, 1951 in Dallas, Texas, Mr. Adams was the son of the late William Ernest Adams. He was a horticulture specialist, working with Lowe's and a member of the Mustang Club of Tara, the Master Gardeners Association and Toastmasters.

The funeral will be Saturday, Nov. 28, at 7 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. Mr. Adams will be cremated.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Doles Adams of Newnan; mother, Eula Lee Adams of Decatur; sister, Elizabeth Adams of Decatur; brother-in-law, Richard Green of Decatur; sister, Brenda and Lee Pickens of Lilburn; and nieces, Christina Pickens, Jessica Pickens, both of Lilburn.

Mr. Charlie Hugh Sawyer

Mr. Charlie Hugh Sawyer, 68, of Hampton, formerly of Reynolds, died Nov. 23, 1998 at his home.

Mr. Sawyer was a retired lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy. A cadet in Pensacola, Fla., Mr. Sawyer received his gold wings and commission in 1952. He flew P5M seaplanes and other aircraft during 25 years of service.

Mr. Sawyer served in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba during the missile crisis in 1962. After retiring from the Navy in 1979, he became a horticulturist and opened a nursery in Senoia. He moved to Hampton after closing the business.

The funeral will be Friday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m. at McDonough United Methodist Church, with Dr. C.R. Hill officiating. The family will receive visitors Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Haisten Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Eugenia Hodges; daughters, Cynthia and Wesley Nunn of Milledgeville, Helen and Xavier Ponce of Guayaquil, Ecuador, Laura and David Crumbley of Stockbridge, Susan and Michael Dull of McDonough, Frances Fields of Memphis, Tenn.; sister, M. Aurelia Sawyer of Decatur; brother, Cecil Sawyer of Decatur, Tom Sawyer of Woodstock; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Lyle Shira

Mr. Lyle Shira, 59, of Brookside Drive in Newnan, died Nov. 23, 1998 at his home.

Born Oct. 23, 1939 in Akron, Ohio, Mr. Shira was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Roland Shira. He was a pilot with Delta Airlines and a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served as an Air Force pilot.

He was a member of Grace Community Fellowship.

The funeral will be Saturday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Newnan, and burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors Friday, Nov. 27, from 6-9 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Michael Shira of Newnan; parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Roland Shira of Akron, Ohio; daughters, Leslie Shira Echols of Havre, Mont., Krista Shira Frost and Karen Shira Isherwood, both of Newnan; a sister, Vonda Sue Gospadinsky of Florida; a brother, Richard Douglas Shira of California; and grandchildren, James Daniel Echols, Joshua Morgan Echols, Michael Brandon Echols, Shira Anne Echols, William Jeremy Echols, all of Havre, Mont.; and Edwin Brant Frost V, Mary Katherine Frost, James Darren Isherwood Jr. and Hannah Elizabeth Isherwood, all of Newnan.

Mr. Silas Henry White, 78, of Sharpsburg died Nov. 22, 1998.

Mr. White was the husband of the late Gwendolyn Harrison White. He was a member of Turin Baptist Church.

A graveside service was Tuesday at Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City. with the Rev. Bill Priester officiating.

Survivors include his sons, Harrison and Faye White of Sharpsburg, Phil and Pam White of Jonesboro; grandson, Michael White; and sisters, Ruby Hollington of Arlington and Liz Southwell of Hapeville.

Mrs. Kathleen Gamble Wright, 77, of Hogansville died Nov. 23, 1998 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala.

Born July 7, 1921 in Bowdon, Mrs. Wright was the daughter of the late William and Emma Huie Gamble. She was a graduate of West Georgia College and the Crawford W. Long School of Nursing.

Mrs. Wright was a member of First Baptist Church of Hogansville and the Troup County Board of Health.

The funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. Jerry Cross and the Rev. Terry Fleming officiating. Burial will follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with Davis Booker, Lewis Booker Jr., Huell Stephens, Jim Askew, Bobby Warren, Phil Waldrop, Richard Stroud and Howell Spradlin as pallbearers.

Survivors include her husband, William H. Wright of Hogansville; daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Jeff Griffin of Auburn, Ala.; son, Bill Wright of Troy, Ala.; sisters, Christine Camp of Atlanta, Nena Word of Bowdon; brother, Grady Gamble of Atlanta; and grandchildren, Adam Griffin and Kevin Griffin, both of Auburn.

Born April 26, 1948 in Coweta County, Mrs. York was retired from Playtex Apparel.

The funeral will be Friday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, with Dr. Mark Spence and Deacon Tom Andrews officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

The family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
