A funeral was Monday, Nov. 30 at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Grady M. Bivins officiated. Burial was in Pleasant View Baptist Cemetery in Bowdon, Ga.

She is survivied by daughter, Mrs. Florice Holloway of Fayetteville; grandchildren Victor and Barbara Holloway of Fayetteville and Kendall and Wanda Ridgeway of Stockbridge; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Hariett L. White of Las Vegas; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Willie T. Gates, of Poythress Road, Newnan, died Nov. 29, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Gates was the husband of Mrs. Leona Gates.

Mr. Willie C. Jordan Jr., 55, died Nov. 28, 1998 at Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.

Mr. Jordan was born April 30, 1943 in Coweta County. He was a member of Summer Hill Baptist Church in Moreland. A daughter, Miss Ruby Carolyn Jordan, preceded him in death.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. at Summer Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. J. T. Coleman officiating. Burial will be in East View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Willie Allen, Wilbur Elder, Joseph Prather, Joe Pope, Mark Jordan and Rickey Welch.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eva M. Jordan; mother, Mrs. Flossie Jordan; mother- and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barber; sons, Stanley Jordan, Donnell Jordan; step-daughter, Cynthia A. Mr. Hoyt Thompson, 70, of Grantville, died Nov. 29, 1998 at Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.

Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 13, 1928 in Coweta County, son of the late James and Lena Lenderman Thompson. He was a lifelong resident of Coweta County, was retired from Bibb Manufacturing Company in Newnan and was a member of the Baptist faith.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Burial will be in Grantville Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Betty Thompson of Grantville; three step-daughters, Catherine Ann Hudson of Douglasville, Connie Lou Hudson of Newnan, and Bonnie Lee Sheffield of Camden, S.C.; three step-sons, Andrew Eugene Griner of Toccoa, Ga., Robert Stephen Griner of Newnan and Charles Eric Hayes of Grantville; sister, Mrs. Ruth Kelley of Newnan; brother, Roy Thompson of Grantville; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Terry E. "Ted" West, 28, of Newnan died Nov. 26, 1998.

Mr. West was born August 31, 1970. He worked as a pipefitter for the Ford Motor Company in Atlanta.

A funeral was Monday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. at Tri-County Baptist Church in Senoia with the Rev. Ronald Whitlock, Rev. Christopher West and Rev. Darrell Hayes officiating. Burial was in Camp Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, Ga.

Mrs. Mary Cousins Williams

Mrs. Mary Cousins Williams, 84, of LaGrange, Ga. died Saturday night, Nov. 28, 1998 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Williams was born Dec. 7, 1913 in the Forrest Community of Meriwether County, Ga. to the late Joseph Byron Cousins Sr. and Lucy Pullen Cousins. She was a registered nurse and former public health nurse in Troup County for 25 years. She had lived in LaGrange for the past 60 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange, Ga. and the United Methodist Women, a member of Bellevue LaGrange Women's Club, Troup County Historical Society and Plumbago Garden Club. She received her R.N. as a graduate of Georgia Baptist School of Nursing in Atlanta and received a degree in public health nursing from Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the West Georgia Medical Center Auxiliary Life Line or to Camp Viola.

A funeral will be Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel in LaGrange with the Rev. Greg Porterfield and Dr. Gil Watson officiating. Burial will be in Luthersville Cemetery in Luthersville, Ga.

Born May 14, 1907 in Forest City, Fla., Mrs. Schoonover was the daughter of the late Louis Alanda Peterson and Ellen Augusta Carlson and the wife of the late Roy A. Schoonover. She was a homemaker.

The funeral will be Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom R. owe Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta.

Born July 8, 1908 in Oklahoma, Mrs. Thompson was the daughter of the late Jack W. Laird and Maggie Kendrick Laird and the wife of the late Hugh Thompson. She was a retired registered nurse.

A graveside service was Monday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan, with the Rev. Bill Dean officiating.

Mr. Jimmy Walls, 67, of Sevierville, Tenn. died Nov. 30, 1998 at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital.

Born March 1, 19 31 in Coweta County, Mr. Walls was the son of the late Forrest A. Walls and Effie Thompson Walls. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he was retired from Delta Air Lines and worked as a deputy sheriff in Sevierville.

A graveside service will be Thursday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

Survivors include his son, Tony and Beverly Walls, and grandchildren, Andy Wall and David Walls, all of Newnan.

Mr. Clarence Luke Thompson Sr., 64, of Cedar Lane North in Newnan died Dec. 2, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Nov. 8, 1934 in Coweta County, Mr. Thompson was the son of the late John Richard Thompson and Alice Addison Thompson. He was a meat cutter and assistant manager of Marion's Thriftown and former owner of Millians and Thompson Grocery and T&T Tires.

The funeral will be Friday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joe Strickland and the Rev. O.C. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

He was born Oct. 29, 1998 in Coweta County to Andrea Carter and Dupree Tigner.

Graveside services were held Saturday, Dec. 5, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in the Roscoe Community north of Newnan. The Rev. Johnny Carter officiated.

Surviving are parents, Andrea Carter and Dupree Tigner; grandparents, great-grandparents and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mr. Bill Mitchum, 71, of Lynhaven Dr., Newnan, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Mitchum was born June 13, 1927 in Bessmer, Alabama, to William Luther Mitchum and Sarah Frances Butler. He was retired after a career of more than 55 years as a printer-pressman with The Times-Herald in Newnan. A member of the Baptist faith, he was a U.S. Navy veteran and member of Coweta Masonic Lodge #60. A daughter, Dianne Mitchum, preceded him in death.

The family will be receiving friends at Hillcrest Chapel funeral home in Newnan tonight, Tuesday, from 7-9 p.m.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel with the Rev. Franklin Treadwell officiating, assisted by Dr. Doyle Bledsoe and the Rev. L. O. Thompson. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. Pallbearers will be Gary Howard, Tommy Thompson, Big "E" Carver, Billy Gray, Rodney Mitchum and Joey Perry. Mr. Wendell W. Sheffield

Mr. Wendell W. Sheffield, 79, of Dogwood Rd., Newnan, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Sheffield was born June 3, 1919 in Polk County, Georgia, son of the late Belton Palmer Sheffield and Fertelle Pullen Sheffield. He was a retired pilot for Eastern Airlines and held the rank of captain. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II in the 778th Bomber squadron as a first lieutenant. He flew 50 missions over enemy territory and received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Presidential Unit Citation and American Defense Service medal.

The family will be receiving friends at McKoon Funeral Home tonight, Tuesday, from 7-9 p.m.

A funeral will be at McKoon chapel Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Garry Parrish officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Road.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Matt Burns, Jerry Conner, Dick Garner, Marvin Johnson, Jim West and Jim Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be former Eastern Airlines pilots.

Surviving are his wife, Connie Sheffield of Newnan; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Gregory Moor of Marietta, Ga. and Peggy Sheffield of Salt Lake City, Utah; son, Wendell W. Sheffield Jr. of Newnan; sister, Dorothy Miller of Gadsden Alabama; brother, Palmer and Pat Sheffield of Silver Creek, Ga. and Tommy and Ernestine Sheffield of Gadsden, Alabama; granddaughter, Heather Litteer of New York, NY.

Mrs. Sandra Ruth Ward, 61, of Newnan died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998 at Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.

Mrs. Ward was born in Alabama April 28, 1937. She was a homemaker.

A funeral was held at graveside Monday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. in Grantville Cemebery with the Rev. Paul Dennis officiating.

Surviving are her brother, Ray Miller; three sons and three daughters.

Mr. George Rufus Durrah Sr.

Mr. George Rufus Durrah Sr., 81, of Belk Road in Newnan died Dec. 5, 1998 at his home.

Born April 13, 1917 in Raymond, Mr. Durrah was the son of the late Pell and Rosa Durrah. He served two years in the U.S. Army, receiving the American Theater Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

He returned to Newnan after an honorable discharge and worked as a carpenter, attending night school to receive his high school diploma. He was a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church.

The funeral will was Tuesday at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, with the Rev. W. Cortez Golphin and Minister Russell B. Tanker officiating, assisted by Bishop James Keith and Bishop Wilfred Durrah Jr.

Burial followed at Eastview Cemetery, with Tom Matthews, Starling Thompson, Alga Meriwether, Carlton Taylor and Alvin White as honorary pallbearers. Pallbearers were Eddie B. Bass, Jason Thompson, Charlie Glass, Jessie Thompson, Rick King and Ralph Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Durrah; son, George (Charlene) Durrah Jr.; daughters Maxine Tanker, Peggy Davis and Adriana (Fred) Stroud; sisters, Alice Pearl Elder, Frances Phillips, Rudean (Clifford) King; brothers, Wilfred (Julia) Durrah Jr., Albert Durrah; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Thomas Alfred Fox, of Fox Lane in Senoia died Dec. 7, 1998 at his home.

Born in Monroe County, Ga., Mr. Fox was the son of the late John Clay Fox and Estelle English Fox. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kathryn Fox, and by Harry M. Schaffer.

Mr. Fox was a retired CW03 from the U.S. Air Force.

The funeral will be Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. at Haisten-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Senoia City Cemetery with military and Masonic honors.

Mr. Max Nathan Hurley Sr., 64, of Welcome-Sargent Road died Dec. 8, 1998 at Newnan Hospital.

Born Aug. 16, 1934 in Summerville, Mr. Hurley was the son of the late John S. Hurley and Betty Ann Byers and the father of the late Anna Hurley. He was a logger and a Baptist.

A graveside service will be Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 4 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, with Mitch Cook, Steve Estep, Dennis Smith and Tony Cagle as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were John Michael Hurley Jr. and Jimmy Nathan Williams.

Born Nov. 11, 1945 in Franklin, Mr. Rogers was the son of the late Emma Lou Arrington Rogers. He was a foreman at JWI.

The funeral will be Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. McKoon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stanley Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Paulette Rogers of Newnan; father Robert J. Rogers of Grantville; daughter, Patti Kee of Newnan; sons, Jimmy T. Rogers of Luthersville, Randy Rogers of Newnan; sister, Myrtle Jean Hatchcock of Albany; brother, Roy T. Rogers of Hogansville and four grandchildren.

Mr. Henry White Sr.

Mr. Henry White Sr., 71, of Newnan died Dec. 4, 1998 at South Fulton Medical Center.

Born May 19, 1927 in Fulton County, Mr. White served in the Korean War. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

The funeral will be Thursday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at Powell Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Rufus Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery, with Timothy Robinson, Willie Frank Herndon, Henry Lee White, Larry Robinson, Walter Robinson and Walter Herndon as pallbearers.

Survivors include his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Donald (Addie) Anderson of Oak Park, Ill.; sons Henry White Jr., Jeffery Van White of Newnan, Bobby White of Kentucky, Melvin White of College Park; step-children, Willie Lanier Neal, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny (Kathy) Cameron, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley (Mary) Allen, Curtis Leroy Robinson, Jerry Carl Robinson of Newnan; sister, Tommie Lou Rowe, Lena Mae Smith; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
