Mrs. Ora Lee Blanks, 90, of Hogansville, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999 at Alvista Care Home in Greenville, Ga.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2 at the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. R. C. Prescott will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Pallbearers will be Ron Chamberlain, Lamar Arrington, Billy Ray Davis, Shane Prescott, Daryl Ward, and Jimmy Thompson.
Mrs. Blanks was born June 9, 1908 in Heard County, daughter of the late Levi Oscar Hyatt and the late Martha Neighbors Hyatt. She had lived in Hogansville since 1930, was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville, and was the wife of the late William T. Blanks.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Essie Finch of Hogansville; five grandchildren, Mrs. Daphna Ward of Moreland, Mrs. Retha Strickland of Hapeville, Mrs. Nancy Lane of Ellenboro, N.C., Mrs. Dondra Davis of Newnan, and Laymon E. Powers Jr. of Hogansville; seventeen great-grandchildren; and twenty great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mattie L. Holloway, 92, of Redwine Drive, Newnan, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999 at Franklin Healthcare Center.
Born in Carroll County April 22, 1906, Mrs. Holloway was a retired textile worker and member of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred W. Holloway; and her daughter, Helen Cannon.
A funeral was held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. J. C. Cook officiating.
Surviving are sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph (Daisey) Warren of Newnan.

Ms. Frances Sadie Minix, 66, of Major Road, Sharpsburg, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center of natural causes.
Ms. Minix was born Aug. 2, 1932 in Coweta County. She was a retired textile worker, having worked at the Arrow Shirt Company. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
A funeral was held Monday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. David Ramey and Dr. Neill Gallaway officiating. Pallbearers were Bob Yeager, William Dent, Harold Smith, Donald Smith, Steve Minix and Wesley Thompson.

Mrs. Mary Lois Parker, 71, of Luthersville, Ga. died Jan. 24, 1999 at Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.
She was born Jan. 1, 1928 in Camp Hill, Alabama. A member of The Rocky Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Luthersville, she was a member of the choir.
A funeral was held Jan. 30 at 1 p.m. at Rocky Mt. Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Philip Baker officiating, assisted by the Rev. Harry Barnett and other ministers. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hubert D. "Phil" Phillips of Sharpsburg died quietly at his home after a long-term illness.
Residing in the Newnan area for 11 years, he was an employee of Pitney Bowes Management Services in Peachtree City. Until recently, he was also the owner of McPhillips Antiques in Newnan.
He is survived by his parents, brothers, and sisters in Ohio, West Virginia and a multitude of friends in Newnan and Atlanta.
Visitation was held at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan Monday evening.

The Rev. Alton H. Maddox Sr., 82, died Jan. 26, 1999 at his home.
Born Jan. 17, 1917 in Coweta County, the Rev. Maddox was the son of the late Henry and Sallie Maddox. He was preceded in death by brothers, John Maddox and William Maddox; a sister, Nellie, and a child, Altonise.
A former pastor of Friendship Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Baptist Church, both in Coweta County, and Sunshine Baptist Church in Meriwether County, the Rev. Maddox later became an evangelist.
He had served on the Providence Baptist Church Board of Deacons before being ordained. The Rev. Maddox also was a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a former president of the Central High School PTA and a Boy Scouts of America scoutmaster.
The funeral was Jan. 31 at Providence Baptist Church, with the Rev. M.D. Brittian and the Rev. G.B. Vaughn officiating, assisted by the Rev. J.W. Russell Sr., the Rev. Clinton Melson the Rev. Clifford Black and the Rev. Ronnie Johnson.
Burial followed at Sunset Cemetery, with Providence Baptist Church deacons and trustees as pallbearers and his nephews as honorary pallbearers.

Born Jan. 19, 1923 in Meriwether County, Mr. Martin was the son of the late Clinton Albert Martin and Exa Sibley Martin. He was a former partner in Knight-Martin-Lagerquist Insurance Agency in Atlanta and was retired from James River Corporation in Newnan.
Mr. Martin was a member of Luthersville Baptist Church.

Born in Coweta County May 13, 1920, Mr. Fuller was retired, having worked as a supervisor for Douglas and Lomason Co. and 15 years at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He was a member of the Gordon Road Church of Christ.

Mary Cowham McBride, 81, formerly of Newnan died Feb. 2, 1999 in Pensacola, Fla.
Born March 4, 1917 in Independence, Ka., Mrs. McBride married Henry Strickland McBride of Newnan on March 2, 1941. Mr. McBride died in 1976 after retirement from a long career with the Army Corps of Engineers which took he and Mrs. McBride from Newnan to San Francisco, as far as the Azores Islands, and back to San Francisco.
They returned to live in Newnan upon his retirement in 1968.
Mrs. McBride's family plans a reception in her memory in Newnan in April.

Born in England, Ms. Ticehurst came to America in 1956. She was a judge and instructor in questrian events. A memorial service will be Monday, Feb. 8, at White Pak Presbyterian Church in Moreland.

Mr. Ervin Weir Jr., 75, of South Street in Newnan, died Jan. 26, 1999 at Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan after an extended illness.
Born April 26, 1923 in Coweta County, Mr. Weir was a retired minister. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater in World War II.
Mr. Weir was a 50-year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He served as post and district chaplain for both organizations and supported local veterans and the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Decatur, Ga. and Tuskeegee, Ala.
The funeral was Thursday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home with G. D. Hendrix, the Rev. James Calhoun, and Dick Stender officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, with members of the American Legion and the D.A.V. and the V.F.W. as pallbearers.

Mr. Berry was born April 30, 1935 in Coweta County. A member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, he attended the public schools of Newnan and served in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Kmart Warehouse in 1994. child Tracy Berry Sr. preceded him in death in 1996.
A funeral was Saturday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Newnan. The Rev. W. J. Clark was eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Melvin Brittain, Dr. Vidalia Addy and other ministers. Burial was in East View Cemetery.

Mrs. Lottie Dell Estep, 86, of Newnan and formerly of Carrollton, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999 at Starcrest Nursing Home.
Mrs. Estep was born August 5, 1912 in Carroll County to William Riley Lester and Mary Mosley. She worked as a spinner at Arnco Mills and was a member of Mills Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Robert Cramer Estep; a son, James W. Estep; and a daughter, Doris Moore.
A funeral was Monday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel with Dr. Bob Daughtery officiating, assisted by the Rev. Willard Dean and the Rev. Doug Pitts. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve Smith, David Estep, Gene Tollerson, Greg Phillips, Jason Brown and Bobby Estep.
Surviving are her daughter, Loretta Fountaine of Newnan; and daughter-in-law, Ruth O. Estep of Newnan; five grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Wilburn O. Jones
Mr. Wilburn Orville Jones, 86, of Hogansville, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999 at the Florence Hand Home in LaGrange, Ga.
Mr. Jones was born Sept. 4, 1912 in Sardis, Texas, son of the late Joseph Benjamin Jones and the late Sarah Fausett Jones. He spent most of his life in Dallas, Texas, and retired in 1974 as vice-president and director of Vinson Supply Company in Dallas. He was a founding member of Glen Oaks United Methodist Church in Desoto, Texas, where he was very active until he moved to Hogansville in 1988. At the time of his death, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hogansville and was a member of the Hogansville Kiwanis Club.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Lorinne Garvin Jones, and a grandson, Edward (Chip) Jones.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Charles Ritter and the Rev. Rance Sprayberry will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Gordon, Michael Hammock, Peter VanLeeuwen, Donald Neese, Jack Leidner and Jean Demarrias.

Wayne Jones of Hogansville; daughter, Mrs. Charlyne McMullin of Kennesaw; sisters, Mrs. Irma Blanche Mauldin of Waxahachie, Texas, Mrs. Lou Willie Priour of Corpus Christie, Texas, and Mrs. Elizabeth McGinn of Santa Ana, California; brother, Eugene Jones of Maybank, Texas; grandson, Robert Hunter Gordon of Kennesaw; two great-grandsons, Robert Monroe Gordon and Matthew Alexander Gordon, both of Kennesaw.

Mrs. Ruby N. Starr
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Nutt Starr, 69, of Franklin, GA were held Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999 at 3 p.m. at the Franklin First Baptist Church with the Reverends Talmadge Chandler and Carlton Rivers officiating. Burial was in Franklin City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Bill Clark, Taylor Lee, Ray Hand, Bob Lane, Thomas Lipford, Lawrence Lipford, Frank Crook and Delmer Gosdin. Music was provided by Mrs. Bonita Wortham.
Mrs. Starr was born June 1, 1929 in Heard County. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Ruben Nutt and Mrs. Elsie McWhorter Nutt. She was a lifelong resident of Heard County. Mrs. Starr was a very active member of the Franklin Frist Baptist Church where she and her husband served on the benevolence committee. She was a member of the Pilot Club, the Alph Wortham Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart Club. For many years Mrs. Starr was a nurse at the Earnest Memorial Hospital. After it closed she worked for Dr. Birge in his office in Carrollton until retirement. "Miss Ruby" was loved by all who knew her, friends said.
Mrs. Starr is survived by her husband, Mr. Howard Starr of Franklin and several cousins.

Mr. E. Paul Warren
Mr. E. Paul Warren, 80, of the Canongate community, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999 at Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Warren was born Sept. 25, 1918 in Coweta County to Emmett Paul Warren Sr. and Emmye Witcher Warren. He was owner and operator of Warren's Auto Parts in Mabelton, Smyrna and Powder Springs, Ga. A World War II Army veteran, he served with the Corps of Engineers in the European Theater. He was a member of Canongate Golf Club.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel with Dr. Harold D. Zwald officiating, assisted by the Rev. Greg George and the Rev. Mike Hardy. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, and assisting at graveside services will be the Rev. George Sidney (Chip) Warren Jr. and L. Hoyt Warren. Pallbearers will be Mark Whitlock, J. W. Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Morris Warren of Canongate; sisters, Martha W. Whitlock of Newnan, Susan W. (and George D.) Johnston of Virginia Beach, VA; brothers, Claude W. Warren of Johnson City, TN, L. Hoyt Warren and G. Sidney Warren, both of Newnan; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mildred Williams
Mrs. Mildred Williams of Newnan died Feb. 4, 1999 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan.
Mrs. Williams was born July 15, 1910 in Coweta County. Known as "Milton" by family and friends, she was a member of Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Chancel Choir and the United Methodist Women.
A funeral was Feb. 6, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hulon Kemp officiating, assisted by the Rev. R. W. Sutton and the Rev. J. T. Coleman. Burial was in East View Cemetery. Pallbearers were members of the United Methodist Men.

Dr. Robert H. Witcher Sr.
Dr. Robert H. Witcher Sr., 84, of Smyrna, Ga. died Feb. 7, 1999.
A Coweta County native, Dr. Witcher had lived in Smyrna for 13 years. After a 20-year chiropractic practice in East Point, he worked with the Fulton County Sheriff's Department in the Civil and Criminal Court System for 11 years. While in the U.S. Army, he served with the 82nd Airbourne Division stateside and later served in the Southern Europe Theater where he received a Battle Field Commission of Second Lieutenant. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 7007 in East Point, American Legion, Cascade Elks Club, Hapeville Lions Club and the Smyrna First Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Carmichael Funeral Home Chapel in Smyrna with Dr. Steve Kimmel officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Union City.
Surviving are his wife, Emily B. Witcher; son, Robert H. Witcher Jr. of Franklin, TN; daughter, Cheri W. Buechler of Duluth; brother, Harvey N.
