He was an airline mechanic. A funeral will be Tuesday, March 2 at 11 a.m. at the Jonesboro Chapel of Pope Dickson and son Funeral Home. The Rev. David McCoy and the Rev. Mark Bishop will officiate.
Mr. Connor's remains will be taken to Cannon Funeral Home, Fountain Inn, S.C. for additional services and interment.

Mr. Henry Flowers Jr.
Mr. Henry Flowers Jr., 83, of Sunnyland Drive, Newnan, died Feb. 23, 1999 at Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Flowers was born Jan. 1, 1916 to Odessa and Henry Flowers Sr. in Chambers County. He joined the Rehobeth Baptist Church in Langdale, Alabama at an early age. Later he was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Newnan. He was married to Mrs. Mattie Louise Flowers, and they had three children.
A funeral was Saturday, Feb. 27 at Mount Sinai Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie D. Washington, pastor, officiating; the Rev. H. H. Dyer as eulogist; and assisted by the Rev. J. T. Coleman, evangelist Susie Hudson and the Rev. Dana Graham.
Burial was in Eastview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Kevin Thompson, Willie L. Thompson, Harvey Brooks, Oscar Monagan and Bruce Amey.

Mrs. Mae Bailey Profitt
Mrs. Mae Bailey Profitt of Hal Street, Newnan, died Feb. 25, 1999 at Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.
She was born the daughter of the late Willie Bailey and Lula Bailey Hill and was a native of Coweta County. She had lived in Newnan the major part of her life. In her academic training she was exposed to several teachers, specifically Mrs. Ruth Caoxley who instilled in her the desire to follow the path she chose to become a proficient, dedicated teacher.
The late Rev. Franklin Gregg, who was the minister of the First Presbyterian Church in which she held membership also provided inspiration that influenced her decision. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, who also chose teaching as her profession. She attended Barber Scotia College in Concord, N.C. and did further study at Atlanta University. She received her B.S. Degree from Fort Valley State College and the M.S. Degree from New York University. She continued to study on the sixth year plan at New York University. Her teaching experiences began at the Demonstration Center in Allendale, S.C. In addition, she taught at East Depot High School in LaGrange, Ga.; Madison, Ga. Demonstration Center; and the elementary schools in Carroll and Coweta Counties. She traveled over most of the United States and abroad.
A funeral was Saturday, Feb. 27 at Sellers-Smith R.W.S. Memorial Chapel with the Rev. J. T. Coleman officiating, assisted by the Rev. R. W. Sutton and the Rev. McAllister Hollins. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were John Byrd, Winston Dowdell, James Jones, John Malcolm Jr., Henry Seldon, Barney Washington and Robert Wilkerson. Active pallbearers were John Keith, Sidney Nettles, James Powell, Ricky Powell, Stanford Ransby, Calvin Wood, Roy Ransby and Willie J. Morrow.

Ms. Beverly Jane Grunwald, 58, of Moreland, died February 24, 1999 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest Grunwald, daughters Cassandra Grunwald, Lydia Grunwald-Crawford, and Naomi Grunwald, and son-in-law Dave Crawford.

Born June 9, 1934 in Anniston, Alabama, Mrs. Moore was the daughter of William Virgil Bryce and Molly King. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Hubert Moore and son, Edward Kennedy.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 1999 at Faith Baptist Church at Primrose with the Rev. James Calhoun officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1-2 p.m. Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. James Durwood Pitts Sr.
Mr. James Durwood Pitts Sr., 68, of Griffin Avenue, Lineville, Alabama, died Monday, March 1, 1999 at his residence.
Mr. Pitts was born Oct. 21, 1930 in Newnan, son of James Roscoe Pitts and Bertha Ludell Broome Pitts. He worked in heating and air maintenance and was retired from the former James Rivers company, now Fort James. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer and was part of the Plant League Golf Team. He was a lifelong resident of Newnan until 1987, and in later years lived in Franklin, Ga. and Lineville, Ala. He taught refrigeration. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army National Guard.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 3 at the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan. The Rev. Franklin Treadwell will officiate, and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larcus Barnes, Larry Fomby, J. B. Moran, Wimp Pierce, Elliott Proctor, Huey Spradlin and Eddie Webb.

Mrs. Erna Lois Tolbert, 99, a longtime resident of Griffin, Ga. died Tuesday, March 2, 1999 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan.
Mrs. Tolbert was born January 5, 1900 in Butts County, Ga., daughter of Edmond Mumford and Eliza Roberts Wooten. She was a textile worker at Dundee Mills #1. Preceding her in death were her husband, Joseph Lamar Tolbert; and children, Laverne Tolbert, Lorena Murdock and Jack Tolbert.

Mrs. Pauline Barclay, 76, of Leigh Avenue, Newnan, died March 3, 1999 at Franklin Health Care Center.
Mrs. Barclay was born Jan. 5, 1923 in Blacksburg, Virginia to the late Lee and Susie (Altizer) Underwood. She was a retired bookeeper for the former Coweta General Hospital and was a member of Living Word Church. Her husband, Luke Barclay, preceded her in death, as did a brother, George Underwood.
A funeral will be held at graveside Friday, March 5 at 11 a.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. George Chastain officiating.

Mr. Thomas Bridges Sr., 77, of 55 Pittman Drive, Whitesburg, Ga., died Feb. 28, 1999 at his residence.
He was born Aug. 20, 1921 to the late Bessie Bridges of Palmetto, Ga. and the late Asberry Bridges of Whitesburg, Ga. He was a native of Coweta County and a World War II Army veteran. He was a retired fork lift driver of Ralston Purina Company, where he retired. He was married to Bessie L. Phillips March 2, 1946 and they had four children. He joined the Macedonia Methodist Church at an early age and served until the church burned. In 1955 he joined Vernon Grove Baptist Church, Palmetto, where he was active until his health failed. A sister, Rosa White of Palmetto, Ga., preceded him in death.
A funeral was Wednesday, March 3 at Vernon Grove Baptist Church, Palmetto. The Rev. E. S. Thrash, pastor, presided, assisted by the Rev. Johnny Strickland as eulogist and the Rev. R. W. Sutton, Minister Steve Clark and Minister Nathan Hudson.
Burial was in Floral Hill Cemetery in Palmetto. Serving as casket bearers were James Park, Emmett Geter, Henry Coleman and Ellis Gamble.

Mr. Hubert O. Baker, 75, of Newnan and formerly of East Point, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999. Born Feb. 14, 1924 in Mableton, Ga., he retired as a lieutenant from the Atlanta Fire Department with 28 years of service.
He was a U.S. Navy/ Marine veteran, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He was the son of the late William Jesse Baker of Paulding County, and the late Jessie Elizabeth Sorrells Baker of Cobb County. Mr. Baker was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hester was born July 19, 1913 in Troup County, daughter of the late Norman Benjamin Burnham and the late Eva Smith Burnham. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, had lived at Newnan since 1974, and was retired from Uniroyal Inc. in Hogansville after 15 years of service.

Mr. Turner was born March 1, 1925 in Whitesburg, Ga. to the late Coleman Clay and Nettie James Turner. He was a graduate of Atlanta Christian College in Atlanta. For the past 30 years he had made his home in Richmond, Va.
Surviving are a daughter, Elaine Gregory of Edenton, N.C.; sons, Mike Turner of Williamston, N.C., Jim Turner of Greenville, N.C., and Tim Turner of Washington, N.C.; sister, Ruth Knott of Newnan; brother, Alfred Turner of Morrow, Ga.; six grandchildren.

Mrs. Cato was the daughter of the late Henry King and the late Ophelia Thigpen King, and the wife of the late Frank J. Cato. She was also preceded in death by a son, Douglas Cato.

Miss Nyala Michelle Ancrum died March 1, 1999 at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale.
Born Dec. 31, 1998 in Fulton County, Miss Ancrum was the daughter of Sharonda and Michal Ancrum.
The funeral was March 6 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Jonesboro, with Stephen Hood officiating. Burial followed at Eastview Cemetery in Newnan.

Mrs. Jerrideen Conway Arrington, 73, of Hogansville died March 5, 1999 at Hospice LaGrange.
Born Nov. 9, 1925 in Hogansville, Mrs. Arrington was the daughter of Grady and Lila Conway and the wife of the late D.J. Arrington. She was retired from Uniroyal Inc. and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Hogansville.
The funeral will be Sunday, March 7, at 2 p.m. at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. S.T. Janney officiating. Burial will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, with Don Conway, Herman Ball, Sammy Hubbard, William T. Watson Sr., Alan Hartman, Jerry Hartman, Thomas Lee and Patrick Lee as pallbearers.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Thomason of Hogansville, Vicky Lee of LaGrange; son, Danny Arrington of Hogansville; grandchildren, Buffey Scarbrough, Joey Thomason, both of Hogansville, Jill Parker, Thomas Lee, Patrick Lee, Lauren Lee, all of LaGrange; and great-grandchildren, Walker Scarbrough, Bailey Parker and Riley Thomason.
