Mrs. Kitty N. Gadd, 83, of Lakeside Drive in Newnan died March 9, 1999 at Newnan Hospital.
Born June 17, 1915 in Coweta County, Mrs. Gadd was the daughter of the late Thomas V. Neill and Willie Clyde Miller Neill and the wife of the late James Mitchell Gadd. She was retired from American Can Company.
The funeral was March 10 at McKoon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don Helms officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Master Sgt. Benjamin Franklin Smith Sr.
Master Sgt. Benjamin Franklin Smith Sr., 43, of Fairburn died March 4, 1999 at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale.
Born Oct. 8, 1955 in Newnan, Mr. Franklin was the son of the late John Dorsey and Jessie Lee Smith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Johney Smith, and a sister, Eunice Jenkins.
During his 20 years in the U.S. Army, Mr. Smith advanced to the rank of master sergeant E-8. He had served in Korea, Virginia, Georgia, Germany, New Jersey and Saudia Arabia, where he fought in the Gulf War.
A member of the U.S. Army Reserves, he was a heavy equipment mobile repairman at Ft. Gilem. Mr. Smith was a Mason and a deacon of Summerhill Baptist Church.
The funeral was March 10 at Summerhill Baptist Church, with the Rev J.T. Coleman officiating, assisted by the Rev. Donald T. Barber, the Rev. C. Davis and the Rev. G. Turks. Burial followed at the church cemetery with full military honors and the Ft. McPherson Honors Detail as pallbearers.

Mrs. Ellis, a native of Harris County, Ga., was a resident of Newnan for many years before moving to Pine Mountain with her sister. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother Board. She was the widow of Mr. Dan Ellis.

Born Sept. 21, 1911 in Kingston, Nova Scotia, Mr. Tupper was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, serving as a radio gunner on a B-26.
He was on his 43rd mission when his plane was shot down over Italy. Captured by the Germans, he was a prisoner of war for nearly a year.

Before making his home in Greenville, he lived at Hogansville for many years where he owned and operated Hilltop Fruit Stand for more than 40 years. He was a member of Louise Baptist Church.

He was born Feb. 18, 1939 in Newnan. Mr. Wortham was the son of the late Paul and Bessie Maude Wortham. He was of the Baptist faith, was a graduate of Newnan High School and served four years in the Air Force.
A funeral will be Tuesday, March 16 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Mr. Tony Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
Surviving are his wife, Jimmie R. Wortham of Newnan; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Louise and Hal Jones Jr. of Newnan; daughter and son, Deborah Wortham of Texas and Paul Wortham Jr. of Las Vegas NV; step-children, Jay Wages of Alpharetta and June Wages of Lawrenceville, Ga.; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Myrtle Gilbert Turner, 93, of Newnan died March 13, 1999.
Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by sons Marvin Gilbert, Jack Gilbert and Charles Gilbert.
A graveside service was Tuesday at Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Kim Gruser officiating.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Turner; sons, Donald Gilbert, Richard A. Gilbert of Montgomery, Ala.; daughters, Hilda (Doni) McEwan of Mariposa, Calif., Betty Jean Rodgers of Camak; sister, Lessie Glover of Montgomery; stepchildren, John Turner of Keyser, W.Va., Sherry Seward of Texarcana, Ark., Charlene Morrison of Wichita Falls, Texas; 30 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and seven stepgrandchildren.

Born in Empire, Minn., Mr. Weiler was the son of the late Nickolas P. and Emma Weiland Weiler.
A graveside service will be Thursday, March 18, at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.

Mrs. Martha K. Callaway
Mrs. Martha K. Callaway, 70, of Westside School Road in Newnan died March 12, 1999 at Peachtree Regional Hospital.
Born June 25, 1928, Mrs. Callaway was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Thurman the wife of the late Rev. W.A. Callaway. She was preceded in death by her son, Willie James Callaway; daughter, Ollie Ruth Thornton; and brothers, Theodore Thurman and Willie C. Thurman.
She was treasurer of the Interdenominational Ministers Wives and Widows and a member of the state, southeastern and national Associations of Ministers Wives and Widows and the Western Union Baptist Association.
Mrs. Callaway also was president of the Willing Hand Club and vice president of St. John Mother's Board.
The funeral was March 17 at St. John Baptist Church, with the Rev. John E. Farmer and the Rev. W.J. Clark officiating, assisted by the Rev. R.W. Sutton and the Rev. W.J. Johnson. Burial followed at the church Cemetery, with deacons and laymen of St. John Baptist Church as pallbearers and her sons and grandsons as honorary pallbearers.
