Mrs. Eucal B. Janney, 87, of LaGrange died March 30, 1999 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan.
Born Nov. 13, 1911 in Randolph County, Ala., Mrs. Janney was the daughter of the late Dock and Pearl Dukes Benefield and the wife of the late Claude T. Janney. She was a member of Teaver Road Baptist Church and was retired from the Hillside Division of Milliken and Company.
The funeral will be Thursday, April 1, at 1 p.m. at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. S.T. Janney officiating. Burial will be at Big Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Randolph County, with her grandsons as pallbearers.

Dr. R.D. Mohler 92, of Clark Street in Newnan died March 30, 1999 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan.
Born July 13, 1906 in Louisville, Ky., Dr. Mohler earned a bachelor's degree from Drury College in Springfield, Mo. and master's of theology and a doctorate degrees from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville.
He served as chairman of the Social Science Department at Gordon Military College in Barnesville from 1942-70 and acting dean of Junior College in 1963-64. From 1970-75, he was a professor of sociology and psychology at Tift College Extension-Georgia Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta.
Dr. Mohler edited A Self Study of Gordon Military College for the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges. He pastored at First Baptist Church in West Baden Springs, Ind. from 1935-42; First Baptist Church in Valdosta from 1943-45; and The Rock Baptist Church in The Rock, Ga. from 1946-70.
The funeral will be Thursday, April 1, at 11 a.m. at Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sterling Bergeron officiating. Burial will be at South View Cemetery in Thomaston.

Mr. Griffis was a retired mechanic and a member of First Baptist Church of Villa Rica, where he was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class. He was an emeritus member of Villa Rica Lodge #72 AF&M.

Mr. McFarlin was born Feb. 7, 1903 to the late Benjamin and Lizzie McFarlin. He was married to the late Cora Bell McFarlin and they had one son. He joined the Mount Pleasant A.M.E. Church at an early age. Later he moved to Michigan where he lived for many years. Returning to Palmetto, he rejoined the Mount Pleasant A.M.E. church where he served on the Steward Board.
A funeral was Saturday, April 3 at Mount Pleasant A.M.E. Church in Palmetto with the Rev. Vandy Simmons, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Sandra Domineck and the Rev. W. R. Starks.
Burial was in Floral Hill Cemetery. Serving as honorary pallbearers were the Mt. Pleasant Steward Board. Active pallbearers were his nephews.

Mrs. Clara Pearl Marcus Smith of Maryland died March 29, 1999 in Maryland.
She was born October 17, 1927 in Coweta County to Ben and Fannie (Bailey) Marcus. She lived, worked and began her family in Chicago, Ill., then later moved to Birmingham, Ala. In 1968 she moved her family to Chesilhurst, New Jersey where she ministered to the youth, sick and elderly while she and her husband Clifford raised their children. She retired from Camden Mental Health Facility (Lakeland). During her time there she was active in developing a fair and safe union workplace. She also served as A. F. S. M. E. Shop Steward. She was a member of the Grant A.M.E. Church in Chesilhurst, N.J. for many years. She later transferred her membership to First Baptist Church in Chesilhurst. After moving to Maryland she joined the Clifton Park Baptist Church.
A funeral was Monday, April 5 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Moreland, Ga. with the Rev. L. W. Booker, pastor, presiding and the Rev. J. C. Neal as eulogist.
Burial was in Mount Calvary Church Cemetery in Moreland. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Charles E. McDill Jr., Derrick Smith, Melvin Lee Smith, Eric Smith and Tyrone Jackson. Active pallbearers were nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Lillie Mae Caldwell, 89, of Peachtree City died April 6, 1999 at Southwest Christian Hospice.
Born Sept. 8, 1909 in Meriwether County, Mrs. Caldwell was the daughter of the late William Thomas Barber and Alice Tidwell. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
The funeral will be Thursday, April 8, at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow at Elmore Cemetery in Senoia, with her grandsons as pallbearers.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas L. Caldwell of Roanoke, Ala., Harmon Caldwell of Senoia; daughter, Nancy E. Dunbar of Peachtree City; sister, Gladys Reid of Rome; brother, James T. Barber of Florida; sisters-in-law, Joel and Gladys Reid of Rome, Evelyn Barber, Mary Barber, both of Luthersville, Gladys Barber of Manchester, Frank and Erma Jones of Morrow; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Elder Willie Claude Johnson Sr., 80, of Spence Avenue in Newnan died April 2, 1999 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center.
Born July 4, 1918, Elder Johnson was the son of the late Beluah Meriwether Johnson and Tom Johnson. He attended Meriwether County schools and was a minister at Fairburn and Newnan Highway Holiness Tent.
The funeral was Wednesday at Sellers-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Smith officiating, assisted by the Rev. R.W. Sutton. Burial followed at White Oak Cemetery in Senoia, with Ricky Brown, Ezzard C. Freeland, Lummie Tolbert Jr., Michael Sutton and Samuel L. Crumbley as pallbearers.
