Ms. Lorena Daniell, 94, of LaGrange Street in Newnan died April 21, 1999 at Beaulieu Nursing Home.

Born Aug. 19, 1904 in Newnan, Ms. Daniell was the daughter of the late Ephriam and Julia Hancock Manning. She was a retired sales clerk at Kessler's and Connally Drugs and a member since 1916 of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School.

The funeral will be Friday, April 23, at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home, with Dr. O. Eugene Tyre officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include her sister, Drucilla Manning Beck of Kenner, La.; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mr. Frank W. Orr, 77, of Railroad Street in Moreland died April 20, 1999 at Wesley Woods Geriatric Center.

Born April 21, 1921 in Coweta County, Mr. Orr was the son of the late Thomas W. Orr and Dovie Lane Orr. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving from 1942-62, he retired from civil service in 1986.

A graveside service will be Saturday, April 24, at 2 p.m. at Southview Cemetery in Moreland. The family will receive visitors at McKoon Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Survivors include his grandchildren, Alyssa McMichael, Stephanie McMichael; and sons-in-law, Eddie McMichael.

Mrs. Jessie L. (Gross) Bradberry, 87, of Poplar Road in Newnan died April 22, 1999 at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital.

Born Nov. 13, 1911 in Meriwether County, Mrs. Bradberry was the daughter of the late Van and Rachel Bennett McCullough and the wife of the late Ben Hill Bradberry. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lena Pearl Bassett, and three grandchildren, Kenneth Barnes, Gail Collins and Sherry Huddleston. She was a homemaker.

The funeral will be Saturday, April 24, at 4 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Eley officiating. Burial will follow at Southview Cemetery, with Brian Lord, David Lord, Joseph Lord, Richard Lord, Thomas Lord III and Royce Williams as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathleen Finger of Picayune, Miss., Edith Lord of Newnan; son, Van J. Gross of Moreland; 14 grandchildren; great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Clark Camp, 60, of Moore Road in Newnan died April 22, 1999 at Fayette Community Hospital.

Born March 11, 1939 in Clayton County, Mr. Camp was the son of the late Elzie Irving Camp Sr. and Florence Helen Duffee Camp. He was a cattle farmer.

The funeral was Friday, April 23, at noon at Turin Baptist Church, with the Rev. John McDuffie officiating. Burial will follow at Turin Memorial Gardens, with Carl Camp, Ralph Hobbs, Sandy Camp, Lee Nash, Ramsey Walker and Tom Walker as pallbearers.

Survivors include his sisters, Clara Beatenbough of Hoschton, Virginia Walker of Gay; and brothers, Carlos Camp of Newnan, Frank Camp of McDonough, Irving Camp of Brooks and Morgan Camp of Sharpsburg.

Mrs. Betty Jean Ballew, 58, of Newnan died Friday, April 23, 1999 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.

Born August 3, 1940 in Fannin County to Enoch Sayre Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Sayre, she was a homemaker and member of the Baptist faith.

A funeral service was held at graveside 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan with the Rev. Jeff Powell officiating.

Surviving are her mother, Margaret Sayre of Miami; children, Robert Gerald Agin of Douglasville, Donna Jean Agin of Miami, Florida, and Michael Eugene Agin of Newnan; brothers, Enoch Sayre Jr. of Miami, Florida and Donald Sayre of Miami, Fla.; four grandchildren.

Mr. Winford Grady Banks

Mr. Winford Grady Banks, 90, of South Coleman Street, Carrollton, died Friday, April 23, 1999.

Mr. Banks was a native of Carroll County, Georgia and ws the son of the late Luna Grady Banks and Amanda Lela Armstrong Banks.

He graduated in 1930 from the 4th District A&M School, and from the University of Georgia in 1947 with a BBA Degree in Business Administration.

He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Social Fraternity, former president of Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity, Demosthenian Literary Society, Speakers Club for Men, and Riders Club for Gaited Horses.

He was a member of Carroll Lodge #69 F.&.A.M., Scottish Rite York Rite, Shriner, Yaarab Temple, Scottish Rite 33 Degree, Royal Order of Scotland.

For 10 years he was in the clothing business in Atlanta with Rich's Inc., Zachry Clothing Company, and two years as a clothing store manager in Charleston, S.C. and Miami, Fla. He traveled the southeastern states for six years as salesman and public relations representative in the hotel furnishings and interior decorating business.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and an elder in the Carrollton Presbyterian Church.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, T. Wayne Banks.

A funeral was Sunday, April 25 at 2:30 p.m. at Carrollton Presbyterian Church with Dr. David Shelor and Mr. George L. Evoy officiating. Pallbearers were Ken Adams, Dr. Alvin Crews, Fred Lewis, Larry Anderson, John Purser, Joe Dixon Sr., Joe Dixon Jr., Richard Dixon and Millard Eidson. Elders of the Presbyterian Church and all Masons served as an honorary escort. Burial was in Carrollton City Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Jean Owensby Banks; niece and husband, Carole and Thomas Riddle of Newnan; nephew, Terry W. Banks of Powder Springs.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that contributions be made by those desiring to the Scottish Rite Foundation of Georgia, 1690 Peachtree Street, N.W., P.O. Box 77387 Station C., Atlanta, GA 30357 or to your favorite charity.

Mr. Roy D. Calhoun

Mr. Roy D. Calhoun, 92, of the East Newnan community, died Saturday, April 24, 1999 at Atlanta Medical Center, the former Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta.

Mr. Calhoun was born Sept. 8, 1906, in Coweta County to John C. Calhoun and the former Laura Neill. He worked as a machinist for the former R. D. Cole Manufacturing Company in Newnan. He was a member of Freeman Memorial United Methodist Church, and was a member of Coweta Lodge #60 F.&A.M. where he received his 50-year pin and apron.

A funeral was held 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, at Hillcrest Chapel in Newnan with the Rev. Jim Hearn and the Rev. Carl Calhoun officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. Pallbearers were John Hyder, Donald Johnston, David Johnston, John Dubber, Jack Millians and Ronnie Proctor.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel Calhoun of East Newnan; daughter, Linda Hyder of Atlanta; grandchild, Mr. and Mrs. John and Beth Hyder of Roswell; and great-grandchildren Conor and Kelly Hyder.

Mr. William Daniel, 84, of Bowden, Ga., died Tuesday, April 20, 1999 at Emory University Medical Center.

He was born January 1, 1915, son of the late Robert and Ella Daniel. He joined the Pine Tucky Missionary Baptist Church at 15 under the leadership of the late Rev. Tucker. He was very active in the church. He served as Assistant Chairman of the Board of Deacons and was Treasurer of the church. He visited the sick and shut-in and nursing homes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Velsie Daniel; one daughter, Mary J. James; one sister, Mrs. Evia Farmer; brothers, James Daniel, Marvin Daniel, Wiley Cox and Willie Cox; step-mother, Mrs. Carrie Daniel.

A funeral was Saturday, April 24 from Pine Tucky Missionary Baptist Church where the Rev. Wade Winters, pastor, officiated, assisted by Rev. Lewis. Burial was in Bowden Community Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, great-grandsons and nephews.

Surviving are three daughters, Christine Burnell Drummond of Decatur, Ga., Mattie P. Johnson and Jeanette Daniel, both of New York, N.Y.; one son, Robert J. Daniel of Carrollton, Ga.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ms. Rosie Long, Ms. Eva M. Garrison and Ms. Vera Henderson; one brother, Sammie Daniel.

Mr. Calvin Jones

Mr. Calvin Jones, of Hardaway Street in Newnan, died Tuesday, April 20, 1999 at Emory University Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 6, 1946 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Harvey (Lula) Jones in Coweta County, Newnan, Ga. At an early age he joined the Mount Vernon First Baptist Church where he served as the music director of the J. T. Coleman Youth Ensemble for several years. After graduating from Central High School he attended Tennessee State. In later years he was drafted into the United States Army where he served for three years. He lived many years in Bridgeport, Conn., then later moved back to Newnan.

A funeral was Saturday, April 24 at Mount Vernon First Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip K. Carr, pastor, presiding. The Rev. J. T. Coleman was eulogist and was assisted by Evangelist Susie Hudson and the Rev. Hulon Kemp.

Burial was in Eastview Cemetery and serving as pallbearers were Harry J. Newell, Alton Newnall, Ricky Newell, Larry Wolfox and Johnny McAfee.

Surviving are Mrs. Betty L. Jones Tolbert; brothers, Harvey Jones Jr. and George Jones, all of Newnan; nieces, Ms. Robin Tolbert and Mr. & Mrs. Anthony (Gwen) Melson, of Newnan; grand-nieces, Tenadria Portress and Sierra Melson; two grand-nephews, Tenelius Tolbert and Brandon Melson; one aunt, Mrs. Ruby Butts of Buffalo, N.Y.; a host of cousins.

Mrs. Kathryn G. Manget, 92, of College Street, Newnan, died Saturday, April 24, 1999 at her residence.

Mrs. Manget was born Dec. 25, 1906 in LaGrange, Ga., daughter of the late William Glanton and Kathryn Glanton. Her husband, Victor Eugene Manget Jr. preceded her in death, as did children Victor E. Manget III, Kay Glanton Manget and Jane Manget Arnall. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newnan, and memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist.

A funeral will be held at graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan on Tuesday, April 27 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Parrish officiating.

Surviving are her son, William G. "Bill" Manget of Newnan; daughter, Ann Manget Potts of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren, Clay Arnall, Raleigh Arnall, Victor LaPedes, Karyn Potts, Malcolm Potts; great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mable G. Peryam, of Sharpsburg, died Sunday, April 25, 1999 at Southwest Christian Hospice.

A native of Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. Peryam was the widow of the late Robert Burnett Peryam, and was a retired kindergarten instructor.

A funeral is Tuesday, April 27 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan. Another service will be held at the burial in Wyoming on Thursday.

Mrs. Peryam is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Reshower of Atlanta; sons, J. Andrew Peryam of Sharpsburg, and John Gardner Peryam of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; grandchild, Noah Andrew Peryam; sister, Elizabeth Mays of Birmingham, Ala.

It is requested that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions made in Mrs. Peryam's memory to Southwest Christian Hospice, 7225 Lester Rd., Union City, GA 30269 where Mrs. Peryam had served as a volunteer.

Born Sept. 17, 1914 in Luthersville, Mr. Lovett was the son of the late George Walton Lovett and Gertrude Clark Lovett and the husband of the late Joyce Witt Edwards Lovett. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Phillipines, he was self-employed.

The funeral will be Wednesday, April 28, at 11 a.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Alderman officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Born April 6, 1905 in Fayette County, Mrs. Byrd was the daughter of the late Johnny Williams and Wrethy Spratlin Williams and the wife of the late Lonnie Jones Byrd. She was a homemaker.

A graveside service will be Thursday, April 29, at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Danny Wilson and the Rev. Bill Dean officiating.

Mrs. Mallie B. Phillips, 99, of Cincinnati, Ohio died April 25, 1999 in Ohio.

Mrs. Phillips was born Oct. 9, 1899 in Coweta County to Eddie and Lizzie Barnes. A member of the Church of God in Christ in Atlanta, she moved to Cincinnati when her health began failing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Phillips, and a daughter, Mary Harris.

The funeral will be Friday, April 30 at 1 p.m. at the Sellers-Smith Memorial Chapel in Newnan with Rev. Larry Bonner officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery on Old Corinth Road. The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home from noon until the service.

Survivors include a daughter, Leona Hearn of Cincinnati; sons, Deacon Willie D. Phillips of Newnan and Zack Phillips of Atlanta; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Betty B. Helton, 53, of Macedonia Road in Newnan died April 28, 1999 at her home.

Born July 10, 1945 in Buford, Mrs. Helton was the daughter of the late Willie C. Bolden. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharie Lynn Helton, and son, Mark Thomas Helton.

Mrs. Helton was a retired engineering associate with AT&T and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Liberty Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Newnan.

The funeral will be Saturday, May 1, at 1 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Burdett L. Wantland officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Christian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
