Visitation will be today from 6-9 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 2, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Roberts was born April 2, 1923 in South Carolina. She was retired postmaster at the Haralson Post Office.
Funeral services were held May 31 at Haralson United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carolyn M. Evans officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Funeral for former U.S. Rep. Richard Ray planned for today

MACON, Ga. (AP) - Richard Ray, a former representative from Georgia known for his advocacy for veterans and the military bases in his west Georgia district, which included Coweta County, died Saturday at age 72.
Ray had been in a Macon hospital since May 20, when he underwent emergency surgery for a heart valve replacement. He died Saturday morning from complications suffered as a result of last week's surgery.
Ray was elected to Congress from Georgia's 3rd District in 1982 after serving 10 years as an aide to former Georgia Sen. Sam Nunn.
In Congress, Ray was a member of the House Armed Services Committee and often found himself at odds with fellow Democrats.
Ray is survived by his wife; three children, Barbara Ray of Cambridge, Mass., Charles Ray of Alexandria, Va., and Alan Ray of Kathleen, Ga; and three grandchildren.
His funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Perry United Methodist Church in Perry. The family requests that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to Byron United Methodist Church, where Ray was a member.

Born March 28, 1926, the Rev. Spear was the son of the late Edmond and Annie Spear. He was preceded in death by a son, Lamar Spear.
Ordained as a minister in 1983, the Rev. Spear had served on the White Oak Grove Baptist Church Board of Deacons.

He lived in Gainesville before making his home in Hogansville in 1989, was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hogansville. He was a sales representative for Kennametal Construction Equipment Company in LaTrobe, Penn.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 7, at the First United Methodist Church of Hogansville. The Rev. Charles Ritter will officiate and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

She was born August 3, 1930 in Social Circle, Georgia to Oscar Curtis Crummie and Eva Eula Allen Crummie. While a native of Social Circle, she had lived in Thomaston for a number of years. A widow, she was employed by Kmart as a shipping clerk and in retail sales for 20 years where she retired in 1996.

A native of Blount County, Ala., Mrs. Burdett was the daughter of the late Rev. Oscar C. Morton and Chloe Lee Dyar. She attended Snead Junior College in Boaz, Ala. and her professional career included employment at Merita Bakery and Colonial stores. A member of Cokes Chapel Methodist Church, Mrs. Burdett formerly attended Cascade Methodist Church in Atlanta.

Mr. Pierce Lee Colton
Mr. Pierce Lee Colton, 43, of 619 Howard Hughes Road in Newnan died May 31, 1999 after an automobile accident.
Born Aug. 10, 1955, Mr. Colton was the son of Mrs. Arlena Colton and the late Mr. Pierce Colton. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Colton. Mr. Colton attended school in Coweta County and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fort Carson, Colorado, where he served in the Armed Forces for three years.
Mr. Colton played guitar for several groups and churches. At an early age he joined Oak Grove Baptist Church in the Roscoe community, later becoming a member of the New Life Worship Center, where he served as guitarist for worship services. During this time, he played for the Gospel Witness and the Righteous Brothers.
Later, as a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Moreland, he served as lead guitarist for the choir and male chorus, as well as guitarist for the Newnan Chapel Male Chorus.
Services were June 3 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Moreland with Rev. L.W. Booker officiating, assisted by Rev. R.W. Sutton, Rev. Azell Warner, Rev. Hulon Kemp and Rev. Tim Colton.
Burial was in Zion Hill Baptist Church cemetery in Luthersville. Pallbearers were Olive Bass, Carlton Brewster, Homid Fertrot, Charles Freeland, Gary Hudson, Larry Huggins, Bernard Huling, Dwight Parks, Gary Ragland and Tamp Ragland.

Mr. John Wilborn Hutchinson, 94, of Haralson, Georgia, formerly of Birmingham, Ala., died Saturday, June 5, 1999 in Birmingham.
Mr. Hutchinson was retired from A.T.&T. Company and has been a resident of Haralson since his retirement in 1968. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Hutchinson Harrison, and his granddaughter, Frances Elizabeth Harrison.

Surviving are Mr. Hutchinson's wife of 66 years, Frances Cooper Hutchinson; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis Hutchinson Russell and Dr. Richard O. Russell Jr.; six grandchildren, Dr. John Randolph Hutchinson Harrison and wife Patricia Hubbard Harrison, Susan Harrison Copeland and husband Hunter Armstrong Copeland III, Scott Richard Russell and wife Jennifer Haver Russell, Katherine Russell Galloway and husband Frank Coffey Galloway, III, Meredith Cooper Russell and Dr. Stephen Wilborn Russell; 6 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Haralson United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association in memory of Mr. Hutchinson.

Mrs. Florence Hay Keith
Mrs. Florence Hay Keith, 86, of Hogansville, died Monday, June 7, 1999 at the Brian Center of Nursing Care in LaGrange, Ga.
Mrs. Keith was born May 17, 1913 in Hogansville, daughter of the late Carl C. Hay and the late Ira Gamble Hay. She was a lifelong resident of Hogansville, was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville and the Hogansville Senior Center. She was the wife of the late Jap Keith Sr., a longtime retail groceryman in Hogansville.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 9 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Dr. Jimmy Brown will officiate and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Jasper N. (Jap) Keith Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Decatur; sisters, Mrs. Corrie Spradlin, Mrs. Marie Robinson and Mrs. Betty Jeter, all of Hogansville; brother, J. C. Hay of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandsons and their wives, Newt and Susan Keith, Mark and Tamara Keith, and Jim and Dana Keith; seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Keith may be made to Highland Baptist Church.
