Mrs. Mildred Mozelle Lawhorn, 72, of 8 Steele Ave., LaGrange, Ga. died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999 at her residence.
Mrs. Lawhorn was born August 13, 1927 in Coweta County, the daughter of the late Walter and Annie Kate Moore Wright. She had made her home in LaGrange for the past 14 years and was a member of the Bethel Chapel Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her first husband, Mr. John Hunter.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19 at the chapel of the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. Bryan Geter officiating. Burial will be in Community Memory Gardens, near Bowdon.
The family will be at their home, 8 Steele Ave. and will receive friends at the Funeral Home Saturday evening, Sept. 18, from 6-8 p.m.

Mr. Scott Edward Markham, 50, of LaGrange Street, Newnan, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999 in Fulton County, Ga.
Mr. Markham was born Dec. 27, 1948 in Binghamton, New York. He was a customer service agent for Delta and member of First United Methodist Church, Newnan Country Club and Phi Kappa Pi fraternity. A sister, Linda Jones, preceded him in death.

Mrs. Winifred Shelnutt Newman, 73, of Newnan, died Sept. 17, 1999 at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.
A native of Heard County, Mrs. Newman was born Nov. 9, 1925, the daughter of the late Frank Amos and Pearl Hyatt Shelnutt. Her husband, Hugh Cleveland Shelnutt, preceded her in death in 1985. Mrs. Newman for many years was a rural mail carrier for the Postal Service.
A funeral will be Sunday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of McKoon funeral Home with Dr. Bobby Helton officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Buford and Inez Strickland Sr. of Johnson Road, Senoia, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999 at their residence of injuries sustained in a house fire.
Buford Strickland was born July 13, 1918, and Inez Strickland on June 20, 1923. They married March 21, 1940 in Fayette County, Ga. Together they bore seven children, losing one, Carl, in death at age five.
A funeral was held Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Hill, pastor, Elder Joseph Scandrick and Elder Willie Fountain officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were grandchildren, nephews and friends.

Mr. Mark L. Wells, 54, of Homeport Drive, Newnan, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999 at his residence.
Mr. Wells was born Nov. 9, 1944 in Miami, Fla. He was retired from Kmart Corp., was a former police officer in Hialeah, Fla. and worked with the Coweta Sheriff's Office and Magistrate Court.
Mr. Wells died with Amyloidosis, according to his family, who wish for friends to rejoice with them in their time of saddness for he had accepted the Lord during his illness.

Mrs. Heelan was born in Terra Haute, Indiana, daughter of Mrs. Violet Todd Evans and the late Thomas Evans. She was formerly employed by the U.S. Government at Fort Gillem in Clayton County. She was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. She was very fond of animals, especially horses and was an active participant in showing Quarter Horses. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Coweta County.
Surviving are her husband of 42 years Russell Edward Heelan Jr.; daughter, Alicia Heelan Potts of Senoia; son, Russell Edward Heelan III of Jackson; two grandchildren, Russell Edward Heelan IV and Gail Lynn Heelan of Thomaston; mother, Violet Todd Heelan of Terre Haute Indiana.

Mr. Mickey Charleston Rowe, 66, of Jonesboro in Clayton County, Ga., died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Atlanta.
Mr. Rowe was born March 18, 1933 in Meriwether County to Raymond James Rowe and Bertha Clair Rowe. He was a tree surgeon; and he was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army and Air Force. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Forest Park.

Mrs. Leander Coverson, Westside School Road, Newnan, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999 at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Coverson was born March 6, 1901 to the late Harrison and Laura Grissom in Coweta County.
She was the widow of the late Stacy Coverson. Early in life she joined the Macedonia Baptist Church. After marrying into the Coverson family she moved her membership to Clark Chapel United Methodist Church. In 1953 her husband passed away and she moved her membership to Zion Hill Baptist Church in Luthersville, Ga. to be with her children. There she served on the Mother Board until her health failed.
A funeral will be Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. from the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Luthersville with the Rev. D. L. Driver as eulogist.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons and granddaughters.

Mrs. Whidby was born in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Roy Franklin Rawlins and Mrs. Eva Mae Hunt Rawlins. Mrs. Whidby is also preceeded in death by her husband, Mr. Jesse Bee Whidby Sr. She was retired from the Heard County School System after many years of faithfull service in the Franklin Elementary lunchroom. She will be lovingly remembered by many school children as "Granny." Mrs. Whidby was an active member of the Franklin Church of God.
