Mr. Louis C. Rowlett, 56, of Whitesburg died January 10, 2000 at Emory University Hospital.
Mr. Rowlett was a retired Topographical Photographer with the United States Navy. Following his retirement from the Navy in 1980, Mr. Rowlett moved to Newnan and was employed by Newnan Blueprint Company and was a deacon in Bible Baptist Church.
Mr. Rowlett's parents preceded him in death.
He is survivied by his wife, Mrs. Gail Rowlett, Whitesburg; daughters, Mrs. Joyce L. Dunlap, Newnan, Miss Bridget K. Rowlett and Miss Stephanie I. Rowlett, both of Whitesburg; grandmother, Mrs. Dollie Hayes of Otisco, Indiana; brother, Mr. Lawrence D. Rowlett, Griffin; sisters, Mrs. Janet Anne McKinley of Forest Park and Mrs. Jennifer Marie Moon of Powder Springs; one grandchild.
The family received friends at Jones Funeral Home Tuesday, Jan. 11 from 6-9 p.m.
A funeral with military honors will be Wednesday, Jan. 12 at Bible Baptist Church in Newnan with Pastor Doug Anderson officiating. Mr. Rowlett will lie in state from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Burial will be in Westminster Gardens, Highway 54, Peachtree City, Ga.

Mrs. Shirley Faye Allred, 63, of Golden Court, Sharpsburg, died January 12, 2000 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan.
Mrs. Allred was born Nov. 13, 1936 in Jamestown, Tennessee to Holly Tipton and Ruby Delk Tipton. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
A funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 15 at 11 a.m. at Jennings Funeral chapel, Jamestown, Tenn. Burial will be in Waters Family Cemetery.

Mr. John Emerson Carmichael
Mr. John Emerson Carmichael died January 4, 2000 in West Point, Georgia.
Mr. Carmichael was born March 2, 1937 to W. F. Carmichael Sr. and Inez Carmichael in Fulton County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Carmichael was a graduate of Turner High School, Atlanta, Ga. He received a B.A. degree from Clark College, Atlanta, Ga. and an M.A. degree from Vander Cook College, Chicago, Illinois. He was band director for numerous school systems throughout the state of Georgia for many years. He served as West Point High School's band director until consolication and afterward he continued to work with the bands throughout the Troup County School System. He was employed with the M. W. Lee Mortuary, Inc. for 12 years.
He married Rosemarie Kendrick June 16, 1963 and they had two sons. At an early age he joined Mt. Carmel A.M.E. Church under the leadership of the Rev. W. J. Roe. Mr. Carmichael was a member of Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church in Newnan, Ga.
A funeral was Saturday, Jan. 8 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, West Point, Ga. at 1 p.m. The Rev. Thurmond Brown, officiating, pastor Rev. Willie T. Edmonson, assisted by Rev. Eugene Cooks, Rev. Bassail Brooks and Rev. Ralph Thompson.
Pallbearers were former students. Honorary pallbearers were the Troup County Association of Retired Educators.

Mr. Earl J. Hanners, 79, of Hogansville, died Thursday, January 13, 2000 at Southland Nursing Home in Peachtree City.
Mr. Hanners was born Feb. 24, 1920 in LaGrange, Ga., son of the late Olin Henry Hanners and the late Minnie LaVaughn Whitten Hanners. He had lived in Hogansville since 1938, retired as a production manager for Uniroyal Inc. after 44 years of service, and served five years as a Baliff for the Troup County Superior Court. He was a member and elder of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Hogansville, was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and was an Army veteran of World War II.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15 at the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Barnard L. Philpot Jr. will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Mr. James Edward Kelley, 66, of Hillside Drive, Hampton, Ga., died January 12, 2000 at South Fulton Hospital in Atlanta.
Mr. Kelley was born in Coweta County, son of the late Carl Gordon Kelley and Mrs. Myrtle Holladay. He was a Navy Veteran and fought in the Korean Conflict. He served aboard the USS Sarsfield E.D.D.-837 and the USS Boston C.A.G.-1.

Mr. Albert Leroy Smith, 79, of Tucker Road, Deepstep, Ga., died Tuesday, January 11, 2000 at the Washington County Regional Medial Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Smith was a native of Wheeler County and the son of the late Horace G. Smith and the late Mattie Mae Blizzard. He was a retired auto service technician and a member of the Deepstep United Methodist Church where he was a former Sunday School superintendent and teacher. Mr. Smith was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.

Mr. Leo St. Denis, 84, of Sharpsburg, died January 10, 2000 at Southwest Christian Hospice.
Mr. St. Denis was a retired electronics technician with the former Eastern Air Lines. He had been a resident of Georgia for the past 20 years. He lived 15 years in East Point, and following his retirement he lived the past five years in Sharpsburg. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City, and was a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines.
A funeral wake was held at Jones Funeral Home, 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12 with the Rev. John Walsh officiating. A private burial service was held at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Burnham was born December 30, 1918 in Newnan. He was retired from the textile industry.

Mrs. Willie Fomby Howard Stitcher, 85, of Grantville, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Beaulieu Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Stitcher was born Nov. 23, 1914, in Heard County. The daughter of the late Fletcher Moses and Pearl Webb Fomby, she lived in Coweta County most of her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Grantville and of the Grantville Senior Citizens Center. She was retired for the Georgia Baptist Children's Home in Baxley.

Mr. Nathaniel Huff Jr., 52, of East Point, died Jan. 11, 2000, at South Fulton Medical Center in East Point.
Mr. Huff, who was known to family and friends as "Hoochie," was born Sept. 11, 1947, in Meriwether County. He attended school in Coweta County, and was a former member of Greater Mt. Zion AME Church in Newnan. He was a former employee of the Georgia Department of Transportation, and owned several businesses, including restaurants and a neighborhood store.
A funeral will be held today, Jan. 16, 2000, at New Hope AME Church in Haralson. The Rev. Willie Heard Jr. will officiate, assisted by Elder S.H. Holmes, Evangelist Susie Hudson, and other ministers. Mrs. Katie Mae Mayner, 68, died Thursday, Jan. 13 at Newnan Hospital.
Mrs. Mayner was born Aug. 6, 1931, to the late Emma Lou Pindexter. Her mother later married Curtis Hood, who helped raise Mrs. Mayner. She joined Sunny Side Baptist Church at an early age; she sang in the choir and served as church secretary for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Mayner, Sr., and a child, Kaynell Smith.
A funeral will be held today, Jan. 16, at Sunny Side Baptist Church in Greenville. Remains will be placed in state at 12:30 p.m., and the service will start at 2 p.m. The Rev. L.C. Godfrey will officiate, assisted by the Rev. M.D. Brittian, the Rev. A.L. Birts, and the Rev. Amos Alexander. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers, and family and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. James "Scoppy" Stevenson, 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital.
Mr. Stevenson was born May 5, 1921, to the late James and Mary Waters Stevenson. He joined Evergreen Methodist Church at a early age and become a member of Russell Temple AME Church in 1969.

Mr. Cole, a native of Coffee County, Ga., was born April 30, 1912, son of the late Lemuel Beneger and Arminta Meeks Cole. He was owner/operator of Middle Georgia Bag Company, a 32nd degree Mason, Emeritus member of Scottish Rite Shrine and a member of the Nicholls Baptist Church.

Mrs. Elizabeth Cooper Minix, 71, of Newnan, died Sunday, January 16, 2000.
Mrs. Minix was born January 23, 1928 in Coweta County, Ga. to George N. Cooper and Clyde Ward. She was retired from the former Kesslers Department Store and was a homemaker. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
A funeral will be Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 4 p.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. David Ramey officiating. Mrs. Minix will lie in state 3 p.m. until the funeral hour at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be George Cooper, Donny Smith, Harold Smith, Bob Yeager, Wesley Thompson, Bo Beavers and Carlton Cooper.

Mrs. Barbara Morrow Watson, 40, of Franklin, Ga., died Sunday, January 16, 2000 at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. Watson was born April 16, 1959 in Fulton County and lived at Dallas before making her home at Franklin a year and a half ago. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Heard County and was a former store manager for Kangaroo Stores.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, Ga. The Rev. Mike Watson and the Rev. Clifford Anderson will officiate and burial will be in the Grantville Cemetery.

Mr. Donald L. Williamson, 60, of Newnan died Sunday, January 16, 2000 at his residence.
Mr. Williamson was born December 30, 1939 in Coweta County, Ga. He was retired from James River. A veteran, he served in the United States Air Force.
He ws preceded in death by his father, Jessie Lee Williamson and mother Lizzie Mae Roberts.
A funeral was held Monday, January 17 at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Henry officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Mr. Arnold Handley Barber
Mr. Arnold Handley Barber, 76, of Franklin, Ga., died Sunday, January 16, 2000 at Hospice LaGrange after several years of poor health.
Mr. Barber was born in Heard County August 8, 1918, to the late Florence and Oscar Barber. He was a retired, self-employed contractor who also spent many years in the timber business. He served his country in Germany during World War II. He lived most of his life in Heard County where he was an active member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lila Davis Barber and by several siblings.
A funeral will be held at graveside Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Winfred Spruill officiating.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Tommy Jones of Franklin, Sheila and Bobby Turner of LaGrange, Ga., and Jan and Steve Adams, also of LaGrange; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the Hospice LaGrange or the Georgia Sheriff's Youth Homes, Heard and Troup County Units.

Mrs. Elsie Smith East, 67, of Newnan, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000 at Hospice LaGrange.
Mrs. East was born March 9, 1932 in Grantville and was a lifelong resident of Coweta County. She was a member of East Newnan Baptist Church and was retired from Playtex Corporation after 38 years of service. She was preceded in death by her father, J. Edgar Smith, and an infant brother and an infant sister.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 at the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Frank Powers and the Rev. Ron Howard will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
Pallbearers will be Terry Ellis, Mike Westbrook, Randy Westbrook, Sam Hill, Harold Barber and Larry Beckom. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Georgian Quartet.

Mrs. Kimble was born May 28, 1928 in Coweta County. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Charlotte Christine Martin, 82, of Riverside Drive, Franklin, Ga., died at Franklin Health Care Center.
Mrs. Martin was a Coweta County native, daughter of the late Dan Drake and the late Eula McClendon Drake, and had lived in Franklin the last eight years. She was a member of the White Oak Grove Baptist Church and was the wife of the late James Newton Martin. She was a retired L.P.N. and worked at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Tony Ubel, 27, of Grantville, died Monday, January 17, 2000 in Grantville.
Mr. Ubel was born December 27, 1972 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and lived in Florida before making his home in Grantville ten years ago. He was employed as a commercial roofer.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20 at the Lighthouse Tabernacle of Jesus Christ in Hogansville, Ga. The Rev. Robert Longshore will officiate, and burial will be in the Grantville Cemetery.
Surviving are his mother and step-father, Jennie and Henry Weeks of Lacoochee, Florida; his father, Johnny Ubel of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; sister, Tina Absher of Lacoochee; grandmother, Tina Bryant of Kentucky; and his adopted family in Grantville, Buddy, Mary, Beth, Melissa, Shane, Chris and Star Wilder, Geneva Kern; Darlene Cole and Cathy Southern.
