Mr. Banks was born in Coweta County Nov. 5, 1951 to the late Ira Banks and Mrs. Tempest Brazil Banks Heard. He was an electronic technician and member of First Baptist Church in Newnan.
A funeral will be at Hillcrest Chapel in Newnan Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. with Dr. Gene Tyre officiating, assisted by the Rev. Don Helms, the Rev. Jerry Walker and the Rev. Allen Waldrop. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hugh Brown, Chris Pope, David Butler, Bob Brazil, Richard Basham and Russell Mapp Jr.
Surviving are his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Heard of Newnan; sister, Judy Mapp of Dallas; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until noon at Hillcrest Chapel in Newnan.

Mrs. Friend was born Sept. 26, 1919 in Worth County, daughter of the late William and Lenny Barry Pritchard. She lived in Albany before making her home in Hogansville in 1975 and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville. She was the wife of the late Joseph Edward Friend, who was a former police chief of Newnan and was serving as police chief in Albany at the time of his death in 1974. Mrs. Friend was preceded in death by a son, Robert Friend, and a daughter, Lynelle Friend.

Mr. N. H. Hendrix, 85, of Hogansville, Ga., died Saturday, January 29, 2000 at the home of his daughter in Hogansville.
A funeral was 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at Highland Baptist Church in Hogansville. Dr. Jimmy Brown and the Rev. Max McCord officiated and burial was in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery near Grantville.

Mr. Hendrix was born June 8, 1914 in Coweta County, son of the late William Elisha and Mae Hendrix. He lived at Hogansville most of his life, was a member of Highland Baptist Church, and retired from Uniroyal Inc. after 33 years of service.

Ms. McBride was born July 18, 1935, to the late Lester Hall and Eula Belle Thornton Hall.
She is survived by a son, Steven Bridges of Covington; stepdaughter, Heather Murphy of Newnan; sister, Joyce Tolliver of Jacksonville; brother, Joseph Paul Cammon of Atlanta; granddaughter, Stephanie Anne Bridges.

Mrs. McCann was born Oct. 12, 1920 in Coweta County, daughter of the late Grover and Leila Moore Calhoun. She lived in Meriwether County most of her life and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in the Primrose Community. She retired from Judy Lynn Corporation in Greenville and was preceded in death by a son, Charlie McCann.

Mr. Jackson was born July 6, 1927. He was retired from Ford Motor Company. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan.

Oneal was born in Coweta County January 18, 1986 and was the son of James Michael Oneal and Joyce Elaine Furlow. He was a student at Fairmount School in Newnan and attended Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Donald Oneal and James Hammond.

A funeral will be held Saturday in Opelika, Alabama, for the Rev. Bob Baggott, former pastor of First Baptist Church in Newnan.
Baggott headed the Newnan congregation from 1961 through 1972 during a time of growth for the church on West Washington Street. The new sanctuary was built during his time in Newnan, and was dedicated in 1969.
A funeral for Baggott will be 3 p.m. Central time (4 p.m. Eastern time) at First Baptist Church of Opelika, Alabama. Burial will be Sunday in his native Augusta, Ga.
Visitation has been scheduled by the family Friday from 6-8 p.m. Central Time at the Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home, 1500 Frederick Road in Opelika, Alabama.

Dr. Robert Taylor Baggott Jr.
Dr. Robert Taylor Baggott Jr., 67, of Opelika, Alabama, died at his home February 2, 2000.
Dr. Baggott was born March 26, 1932 in Augusta, Ga. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor Baggott Sr. From 1955 until the time of his death he was married to the former Betty Sue Dempsey of Augusta, Ga.
He graduated from Richmond Academy in Augusta in 1950. He received his B.A. degree from Mercer University in 1954, a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1959, and a Doctor of Divinity degree from the University of Mobile in 1982.
At Mercer he was president of the student body for two years, president of the Kappa Alpha Order, a member of Blue Key Honorary Society and was awarded athletic letters in two sports. Dr. Baggott achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.
Dr. Baggott began his ministerial career as associate pastor at First Baptist Church, West Palm Beach, Fla. (1959-61). He continued service as pastor of First Baptist Church, Newnan (1961-72); First Baptist Church, Opelika, Ala. (1972-82); First Baptist Church, Dothan, Ala. (1982-89); First Baptist Church, Birmingham, Ala. (1989-95); and starting in 1995 as pastor of Farmville Baptist Church in Opelika, Ala.
He filled numerous capacities in Southern Baptist denominational service including president of Georgia Baptist Pastors Conference (1968-69), vice-president of Alabama Baptist Convention (1974-75), trustee-Mercer University (1966-78), trustee-Southwestern Baptist Seminary (1965-72), trustee-Midwestern Baptist Seminary (1984-1994), president-Birmingham, Ala. Ministers Conference (1991-93), Southern Baptist Committee on Nominations (1968-69, 1978-79), and chairman-Alabama Baptist Retirement Center (1986, 1990). He was honored as Large Church Minister of the Year in Alabama in 1993.
Dr. Baggott was actively involved in numerous professional and civic organizations. Among honors received were: Coweta County, Ga. Man of the Year; Lee County, Ala. Professional Man of the Year; president of Newnan, Ga. YMCA; member of State Board of YMCA of Georgia; chairman of the Georgia Recreation Commission; president of Chambers of Commerce in two cities. He was also a member of the Rotary Club since 1972, and served as Rotary president in Homewood, Ala. in 1993-94. He was awarded the distinction of Paul Harris Fellow, Rotary International two times. He served on the Board of Directors of the Lee County, Ala. Habitat for Humanity; the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County, Ala. and the Lee County Youth Development Center. He and his wife, Betty, were recently instrumental in the founding of a Compassionate Friends chapter in Lee County.
Dr. Baggott served as chaplain for the Auburn University Football Team from 1981-1998.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Dempsey Baggott of Opelika; three children, Rev. Robert Taylor Baggott III of Wayzata, Minnesota (Beth), Cheryl Chappell of Clinton, Mississippi (James), and Autumn Baggott of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Taylor and Peyton Baggott of Wayzata, Minnesota and Jim Chappell of Clinton, Mississippi; sister, Susie Baggott Griffin (Dr. Richard, III) of Marietta, Ga.; and a sister-in-law, Janelle Dempsey of Augusta, Ga.

Mr. Bowen was born in Fulton County March 23, 1938, son of the late Lewis Syndell Bowen and Gilberta Griffin Bowen. He was a retired order filler for Kmart Corp. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban conflict. He was the current vice-commander of the American Legion Post 148, and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. He attended First Baptist Church of Franklin, Ga.

Mrs. Breazeal was born March 16, 1931 in Randolph County, Alabama, daughter of the late William Cicero Knott and the late Venie Embrey Knott. She lived in Hogansville most of her life, had been employed at Uniroyal Inc. and LaGrange Moulding, and was a member of Open Door Baptist Church in Senoia.

Mrs. Louise Long Flournoy, 59, of Highlands, Texas, and a former resident of Grantville, Ga., died Wednesday, February 2, 2000 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Jay Moore and the Rev. Dunn will officiate and burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.
Mrs. Flournoy was born April 8, 1940 in Meriwether County, daughter of the late Royce and Florence Clay Long. She lived in Grantville before making her home in Highlands two years ago, was a Baptist and was the wife of the late Allen Flournoy.

Mrs. Emma Freeman Hendricks of Newnan died February 2, 2000 at Newnan Hospital.
Mrs. Freeman was born October 19, 1919 in Troup County and attended public schools of Newnan and Coweta County. She was employed by the Board of Education for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church and served as president of the United Methodist Women, as church historian, as communion steward and church treasurer.
A funeral will be Saturday, Feb. 5 at noon at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Newnan with the Rev. W. Cortez Golphin officiating, assisted by the Rev. Hulon Kemp, the Rev. Ron Cameron and the Rev. Aubrey Thompson. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. Nephews and great nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Toni Holroyd
Mrs. Antoinette Sparks Holroyd, 96, of Richmond, Va., died Thursday at The Hermitage in Richmond.
The widow of George Clinton Holroyd, and formerly of Hogansville and Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. Holroyd was born August 3, 1903 in Nashville, Tenn. and grew up in Birmingham. She was educated at the University of Alabama and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied drama with Paul Green.
She taught in the Speech and Drama Department at Howard College (now Samford University) from 1932 until 1953 and founded the Howard Masquers. In 1953 she married Dr. Holroyd and settled in Hogansville, Ga. She was an active gardner and herbalist, taught part-time at LaGrange College and was director of the LaGrange Theater Guild. She was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church in LaGrange.
Surviving are nephew, Ovid Benjamin Sparks III and wife Annette Smith Sparks of Richmond; two great nieces; and several devoted cousins, friends and former students in Birmingham.
A graveside service will be held noon Monday in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, followed by a Memorial Service of Holy Communion at St. Marks Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. The Rev. Lori Lowe will officiate.

Miss Jessica L. McCarty, 13, of Alvaton, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000, of injuries received in an auto accident in Meriwether County.
A funeral was held 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Ed Elliott officiated and burial was in Alvaton Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Bowles, Bill Hamby, Richard Taylor, Gene Taylor, Kersh McIntyre and Jason Jordan.
Miss McCarty was born March 12, 1986 and was a lifelong resident of Meriwether County. She attended Alvaton Baptist Church and was a student of Greenville Middle School.

The Rev. Doug Storey, 38, of Wagers Mill Road, Newnan, died Thursday, Feb. 3 in a Rome, Ga. hospital.
A native of Rome, he was born Nov. 17, 1961, son of Weyman L. Storey and the late Juanita Holbrooks Storey. He graduated from Darlington School, received an associate degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, a counseling degree from Toccoa Bible College, and received his master of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. While in seminary, he served as minister to single adults and education at the Heritage Baptist Church.
He also served as singles minister at Fellowship Baptist Church in Rome from 1991-93 and was currently pastor of Sargent Baptist Church in Sargent, Ga. since October 1997.
Surviving are his wife, the former May Kay Gordon; twin boys, Jake and Hunter Storey of Newnan; father, Weyman L. Storey of Rome; brother, David Storey, Rome; sister, Carol Storey Cothran, Rome; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be Saturday, Feb. 5 at 11 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Jamie Work and the Rev. Kelly Davis officiating. Burial will be in Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. James Jackson Barnett, 75, died Friday, Feb. 4, at his son's home in Senoia.
Mr. Barnett was born in Cumberland, R.I. He moved to Wesley Woods about a year ago. He was a retired textile machine shop foreman. He was a Mason and served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Pittsburgh and the USS San Juan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Jean Smith Barnett.
A memorial service will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Georgia Baptist Hospice.

Mrs. Marie Clement, 70, of Newnan, died Friday, Feb. 4, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Mrs. Clement was born July 3, 1929, in Allen Parrish, La. A homemaker, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Clement, and her son, Donald Henry.

Mr. Duke Lee Ferrell, 80, of Newnan, died Friday, Feb. 4, at his home.
Mr. Ferrell was born June 26, 1919, in Fulton, Ga. He was a charter member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church and the Cornerstone Optimist Club. A retired truck driver, he was a past master of the Oakland City Lodge and served in the Army during World War II.

Mrs. Ruby Hudson Teel, 94, of Hogansville, died Friday, Feb. 4, at the Florence Hand Home in LaGrange.
Mrs. Teel was born Oct. 2, 1905, in Grady County to the late James Eddie and Mary Elizabeth Lodge Hudson. She moved to Hogansville in 1942 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hogansville. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.A. Teel, and her son, James A. Teel.
A funeral will be today, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Mr. Warren was born June 4, 1954 in Albany. He was a programming supervisor at SITA Airlines reservations and a member of Sargent Baptist Church.

Mrs. Celia Trammell Williams, 57, of Newnan died Feb. 5, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Mrs. Williams was born Aug. 5, 1942 in Luthersville. She was a college professor of nursing.
Mrs. Williams was a 1960 graduate of Newnan High School. She held nursing degrees from Georgia Baptist School of Nursing, Medical College of Georgia and Emory University and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Mrs. Williams taught nursing at Piedmont Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, South Georgia College in Douglas, Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton and Gordon College in Barnesville.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her father, James Young Trammell Sr.
The family will receive friends today from 2-5 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.
