Miss Martha Hosanna Traylor, 80, of Franklin, Ga. died April 11, 2000 at Franklin Health Care Center after several months of declining health.
Miss Traylor was born in Heard County, Ga. on December 6, 1919 to the late Mige Traylor and Minnie Sheets Traylor. She was an active member of the High Point Church of God. She was a retired Creel Warper for Callaway Mills in LaGrange. She was devoted to the care of her siblings, nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Thursday, April 13, 2000 at 3 p.m. at the High Point Church of God with the Reverends Loyce Walker and Dwayne Shadix officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Music was provided by the High Point Church Choir. Pallbearers were Mike Arrington, Don Nelms, Shane Meacham, Gerald Meacham, Jack Brazeal Jr., Jackie Arrington, Jason Traylor, Timothy Cosper and Rickey Gove.
Surviving are sister, Rosie Mae Traylor of Franklin, Ga.; brothers, Lamar Traylor of Newnan and Charlie Traylor of Franklin, Ga.; a number of beloved nieces and nephews.

Mr. Raymond Arrington
Mr. Raymond Arrington, 79 of the Frolona area of Franklin, Georgia, died Thursday, April 20, 2000 at the West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Ga.
Mr. Arrington was born in Randolph County, Alabama, on August 26, 1920, to the late Jack Arrington, and Onie South Arrington. He was retired from both the Callaway Mills in LaGrange, and the Heard County Department of Transportation. He was a former member of the Liberty East Baptist Church, and a current member of the High Point Church of God. He served his country in the U.S. Army, and was a World War II veteran.
Funeral services for Mr. Arrington will be conducted Saturday, April 22 at 3 p.m. at the High Point Church of God, with the Reverends Loyce Walker and Sonny Weldon officiating. The body will lie in state from 2 p.m. until the service time. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel Hicks Arrington of Franklin, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law Alma Jo and Melvin Harper of LaGrange, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law Mike and Robin Arrington of Franklin, Ga.; sister, Mrs. Pauline Arrington of Franklin, Ga.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous loving and caring nieces and nephews.

Sgt. Johnny Roy McCullough Sr.
Sgt. Johnny Roy McCullough Sr., 45, of Franklin, Ga. died suddenly at his home Monday, April 17, 2000.
A funeral was Wednesday, April 19 at 4 p.m. at Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Melton Hall officiating. Sheriff Ross Henry made a proclamation, permanently retiring Sgt. McCullough's Badge Number 012. Cpl. Greg Holcomb read a poem written by Dep. Deborah Grizzard. Musical selections were sung by Tina Holloway, Burl Holloway and David Bryan.
Serving as pallbearers were Johnny Cash, Mike Olinger, Keith Rollins, Alan Summerlin, Michael Red, Dale Stolar, Joe Adams and Larry Denney.
Police honor rites were held at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery beginning with an Honor Walk made up of honorary pallbearers consisting of law enforcement and fire officers from around the state of Georgia. They lined the path the family took to the graveside.
Lt. Roy Howe played a moving selection on the bagpipes as the family processed. After the ministers' remarks and prayer, the Troup County Sheriff's Department honor guard stepped into place for the flag ceremony, as Chris Partain played Taps on the trumpet. As the flag was being folded, the honor guard did a 21-gun salute. The flag was then passed to Col. Joey Branch, and then to Sheriff Henry who presented it to Mrs. Judy McCullough, widow of Sgt. McCullough.
Charlotte Parker played Amazing Grace on the bagpapes, and 911 dispatcher Darlene Shomake signed Sgt. Johnny McCullough off for the final time.
Sgt. McCullough was born in Prosperity, South Carolina July 18, 1954, to Mrs. Velma Malone McCullough Robbinson and the late Mr. Ralph McCullough. He had served both Heard County and Troup County through the EMS. He was a Heard County fireman for a number of years, then became an undercover policeman. Perhaps his greatest contribution was to the children of Heard County. He challenged them to be drug free as the D.A.R.E. teacher for four years. He was an active member of both the town of Franklin and Mount Pleasant Church.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Walston McCullough of Franklin, Ga.; three sons, John McCullough of Pensacola, Florida, Joe Jones of Franklin and Chris Jones of Green Forest, Arkansas; daughter, Lea Smith of New Milford, New Jersey; mother and step-father, Velma and Gene Robbinson of Alton, Missouri; sisters, Susan Brandenburg and Beth Johnson, both of Franklin, Ga., and Theresa Foster of Calcord, Oklahoma; brothers, Keith McCullough, Steve McCullough and David McCullough, all of Franklin, Bobby McCullough of Savannah, Ga., and Andy McCullough of Pittsburg, Kansas; eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Lila Mae Smith, 83, of Smyrna, Ga., died Thursday, April 20, 2000 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Dr. Jimmy Brown and Mr. Marvin Cloer will officiate and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
Mrs. Smith was born April 22, 1916 in Hogansville, daughter of the late John North Smith and the late Polly Burnham Smith. She lived in LaGrange for a number of years before making her home in Smyrna nine years ago, and was a member of Teaver Road Baptist Church in LaGrange. She was the wife of the late James Dooley Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Barbara McMaree and Mrs. Peggy McAfee, both of Smyrna; son, David Smith of LaGrange; sister, Mrs. Addie Cheatham of Hogansville; sister-in-law, Mrs. Lois Smith of LaGrange; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rosa L. "Zell" Burrough, 62, of Newnan, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Newnan Hospital.
Mrs. Burrough was born June 7, 1936, to the late Tob and Pearl Evans. She was the youngest of five children, accepted Christ at an early age, and was active in her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Bo Bo" Burrough, her parents, and her siblings, Ethel Lee Rosser, Charlie Evans, Esther Mae Herring, and James Albert Evans.
A funeral will be held today, April 23, 2000 at 4 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church. The Rev. Felton James and the Rev. Ethel Gary will officiate, and burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.

Miss Selena Ruth Glenn, 23, of Atlanta, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at South Fulton Medical Center.
Miss Glenn, who was known as "Lena" or "Ruthie," was born August 26, 1976 in Atlanta to James Edward and Evelyn Ruth Arnold Glenn. She was the youngest of four children, and graduated from Walter F. George High School in 1994. She was a member of the Welcome Travelers Church of God in Atlanta.
A funeral will be held Monday, April 24, 2000, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Sellers-Smith Funeral Home. The Archbishop Patricia Williams will officiate, and burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta. Serving as pallbearers will be friends and cousins.

Mr. J.D. "Duck" Morgan, 85, of Hogansville, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Mr. Morgan was born Sept. 30, 1914, in Randolph County, Ala., to the late William D. and Anna Noles Morgan. He lived in Hogansville most of his life, and was retired as a driver for Motor Convoy. He was a Baptist by faith.
A grave-side service will be held today, April 23, 2000, at 3 p.m. at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. Dr. Jasper N. Keith, Jr., will officiate.

Mrs. Lucille Callahan
Mrs. Lucille Callahan, 87, of Sharpsburg, died Sunday April 23, 2000, at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan.
Mrs. Callahan was born August 18, 1912 in Taylor County, the daughter of the late Charlie E. Harvey and Mazie Garrett Harvey. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Harvey Callahan.
A teacher in the Taylor County School System for 16 years, Callahan was also postmaster for 23 years at the Rupert Post Office where she retired January 1981. She moved to Sharpsburg in March 1990 and was a lifelong member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Butler.
The funeral service will be today, Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Charning at 11 a.m. The Rev. Fred Gordon is officiating and interment will follow at Mount Nebo Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Harvey, Donald Harvey, Ted Dill, Mike Buckner, Dan Callahan and Roy Callahan.

Mrs. Dixon was born August 1, 1919 in Harris County and was a member of the St. John Baptist Church, Shenandoah. A funeral service will be held today, Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Newnan. Rev. James Alexander is officiating.

Charles Mace Morris, 81, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2000, in the Lake City Veterans Hospital.
Mr. Morris was a native of Marietta and lived in Newnan for 12 years, moving there from Clearwater, Fla., where he resided for 46 years. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy with action in the South Pacific. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marietta.
Funeral services were held Monday in Lake City, Fla. with Chaplain Larry D. Kendrick officiating. Interment followed in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Gardens, Clearwater, Fla.
Survivors include Morris' wife, Frances R. Mr. Jerrell D. Parker, 69, of Decatur, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at the Beverly Health and Rehab Center.
Mr. Parker was born Oct. 31, 1930, in Troup County to the late Bernie and Maybell Segrest Parker. He was a Baptist, and a retired heavy equipment operator. He served in the United Sates Army during the Korean Conflict.

Lt. Cmdr. Inez Phillips, 73, of East Point, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at South Fulton Medical Center.
Ms. Phillips was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Coweta County. She was a retired Lt. Cmdr. in the U.S. Navy, and a registered nurse. She graduated from the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing, and served in the far east.

Mrs. Lucile McCoy Daniel, 79, of the Lone Oak Community in Meriwether County, died April 26, 2000, at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital in Warm Springs.
Mrs. Daniel was born Nov. 8, 1920, in Meriwether County to the late John Jackson McCoy and Elizabeth Cook McCoy. She lived in Meriwether County all her life, and was a member of Union Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward H. Daniel.
A funeral will be held Friday, April 28 at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church in the St. Marks Community. The Rev. Bill Deakins will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors this evening, April 27, from 6 to 9 at McKibben Funeral Home in Hogansville.

Mr. Frederick Jackson
Mr. Fred Jackson, 71, of Newnan, died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at LaGrange Hospice.
Mr. Jackson was born Dec. 29, 1928, in Washington, D.C. to Fred and Beulah Jackson. He attended the District of Columbia schools and received his degree in architecture and engineering from Howard University. Mr. Jackson was listed in Who's Who for Engineering and was a professor at both Howard University and the University of the District of Columbia.
In 1975, he and a partner started Jackson and Tull Chartered Engineers, which become one of the largest minority-owed engineering firms in the United States. He moved to Newnan after retiring in 1990, and founded The Jackson Group Charter Engineers.
Mr. Jackson was a member of St. George Catholic Church and a visitor at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He was a member of Les Bon Hommes and Omega Psi Phi and founded the West Georgia 100 Black Men. He served on the board of directors of the Alliance for Children's Enrichment, and many other boards, and received many accolades and recognitions, including several from the mayor of Washington D.C. and the governor of Georgia.
A funeral will be held Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church. Father Leo P. Herbert will officiate. The family will receive visitors this evening, April 27, from 6 to 8 at McKoon Funeral Home. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Quick was born Oct. 22, 1932, in LaGrange. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Grantville, and had lived in Senoia for the past 33 years.

Mrs. Windom was born March 8, 1918, in Jacksonville, Ala. to the late Edward Lewis Roberts and Molly Odom Roberts. She had lived in Grantville for the past 69 years, was a member of First United Methodist Church in Grantville, and was retired from WestPoint Pepperell Manufacturing in Grantville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Windom.

Mrs. Young was born July 27, 1929 in York, Ala., daughter of the
late William Earl and Ruby Jane Bishop. She worked for C&S Bank,
Nations Bank and Bank of America for a total of 36 years.
She was the widow of John H. Young.

Mrs. Reese was born Aug. 6, 1909 in Coweta County to the late Lillie and Willis Street. She joined Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church at the age of 15, and was the widow of Mr. Henry Reese.

Mr. Marvin Gene Mitchell, Sr., 55, died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at Crawford Long Hospital.
Mr. Mitchell was born Dec. 28, 1944, to Juanita Mitchell and the late Gene Robert Mitchell. The oldest of 13 children, he was known as "Tappin" to all his family and friends, and had a great love of life and people. He joined New Hope Baptist Church at an early age, and later attended services at Macedonia Baptist Church in Brooke. He graduated in 1963 from Central High School. Mr. Mitchell helped start Mitchell Brother's Construction, and worked for many years with Ernest Mitchell's Swimming Pool Sales and Services. He was preceded in death by his father, and his brother James Mitchell.
