Mr. Buddy Lewis Horn, 63, of Newnan, died Saturday, April 29, 2000 at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.
Mr. Horn was born March 18, 1937 in Newnan. He was retired. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy.
A funeral was held Monday at McKoon Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Searcy Jackson and Mr. Edward Horn officiating. Burial was in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery on Macedonia Road. Pallbearers were Billy Cole, Bob Cole, Barry Garrett, Richard Holdridge, Willard Mark, Clyde Pedigree and Charles Stapler.

Mrs. Lovvorn was born May 1, 1914 in Cleburne County, Alabama to Lonnie Richardson and Ellen Whitley. She was retired from the Bibb Manufacturing drawing room and was a member of Sargent Baptist Church.

Mr. Purgason was born June 29, 1950 in Hogansville, son of the late George and Beatrice Haynes Purgason. He was a lifelong resident of Hogansville, was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and was employed by J. O. Barber Lumber Company.

Mrs. Mamie F. Shuffer, 91, of Meriwether Street, Grantville, died Friday, April 28, 2000 at her home.
Mrs. Shuffer is the fifth child of the late Robert (Bob) and Caroline Rosser and was born December 11, 1908. She joined the Saint Paul C.M.E. church at an early age. She was a mother to her younger sisters and brothers.
She received her education from Forsyth Junior College, her Baccalaureate degree from D. C. Teacher College. She taught school in Georgia until 1940. She moved to Washington, D. C. and worked in the D. C. government while earning her degree. She then taught in the D. C. School System until she retired in 1974 and came back to Georgia.
A funeral will be Tuesday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Christian Episcopal Church in the Lone Oak Community with the Rev. T. D. Brown, pastor, officiating. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Flower ladies will be the Missionaries. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Mikel "Bo" Wallace, 68, of Depot Street, Whitesburg, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at Tanner Medical Center.
Mr. Wallace was born in Carroll County December 12, 1931, son of the late Mike Anderson Wallace and Clara Jane York Wallace. He served in the United States Army and was a retired textile worker.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Shuler and an infant brother.

He had lived in Troup County for the past fifteen years, was retired from DeZurik Corporation in LaGrange, and has been employed by Kroger in LaGrange. He was a member of the Grantville Church of God.

Mr. Lee was born December 13, 1918 in Buffalo, Texas. He was a retired engineer with AT&T. He graduated from Buffalo, Texas and held a bachelor degree in engineering. A member of the Special Forces in the U.S. Navy, he served in World War II. He was a dedicated Mason for 50 years and was a member of Turin United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Perkins was born August 18, 1908 in Hogansville, daughter of the late William and Overton Hearn Johnson. She had lived in LaGrange since 1939 and was retired from the Calumet Division of Callaway Mills Co. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, where she had been active in the United Methodist Women and the Quilters.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Seba Ann Lanier of Valdosta and Sue and Claud Thompson of LaGrange; four sons and three daughters-in-law, W. R. "Bill" and Mary Ann Perkins of Tucson, Arizona, Clinton and Carolyn Perkins of LaGrange, Rufus "Buck" and Betty Perkins of Hogansville, and Harwell Lee Perkins of St. Simons; two sisters, Maidee Grubbs of Sylvester and Overton Magnan of Oliver Springs, Tennessee; one brother, William Johnson of Greensboro; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and a very dear friend, Mary H. Mrs. Bettye Barton Chaffin, 70, of Hogansville, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Chaffin was born Aug. 27, 1929, in Hogansville to the late Harry and Annie Mae Spradlin Barton. She was a lifelong resident of Hogansville, and retired as assistant business manager at LaGrange College after 22 years. She was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and a former Girl Scout leader, and was a charter member and past president of the Hogansville Pilot Club.
A funeral will be held today, May 7, at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Hogansville. The Rev. Max McCord will officiate, and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Barrett was born March 9, 1941, in Randolph County, Ala. to the late Carlis and Lottie Hammond Shaw. She lived most of her life in Hogansville, was a member of Spirit Filled Ministries, and was employed at Franklin Polo. She and her husband served 16 years as foster parents for the Troup County Department of Family and Children's Services.

Mr. Nelms was born in Heard County to the late Fannie Mae Shelnutt. He was an active member of the New Life Baptist Church in Centralhatchee, where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He served in the United States Marine Corps, and was a residential marketing representative for the Atlanta Gas Company.

Mrs. Arnettie Duncan
Mrs. Arnettie Duncan, 93, of Bailey Drive, Newnan, Ga. died May 6, 2000 at her home.
Born in Carroll County January 17, 1907 to Mr. John and Dora Duffey, Mrs. Duncan lived most of her life in Newnan. She was a homemaker and a member of Mills Chapel Baptist Church for more than 45 years and was known for the kindness and love she expressed for her children and her church. Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Mr. William Henry Duncan, and a son, Mr. Carey Duncan.
The family received friends at Jones Fuenral Home in Newnan Sunday, evening, May 7. A funeral was a Jones Funeral Home chapel Monday, May 8 at 2 p.m. with Dr. Bob Daugherty and Dr. James Stewart officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Newnan.
Pallbearers were Randy Knight, Matt Turner, Kirby Duncan, Kenny Duncan, Steve Addison and David Duncan.
Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Lucille Phillips of Newnan; sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Frances Duncan, Jack and Mary Jo Duncan and Reginald and Jan Duncan, all of Newnan; daugher-in-law, Mrs. Betty Burks of Hogansville; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; seeral nieces and nephews.

Mr. H. Virgil Harden Jr., 85, of Hogansville, Ga. and Lake City, Fla., died Friday, May 5, 2000 in Lake City.
A funeral will full military honors will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9 at the cryptside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville. The Rev. Charles Ritter will officiate.
Mr. Harden was born Feb. 15, 1915 in Meriwether County, son of the late Herschel Virgil Harden and the late Willie Lou Sims Harden. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and retired as a Lt. Colonel from the U. S. Air Force. He was a cattle farmer, a 50-year Shriner and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hogansville.
Surviving are his wife. Mrs. Bette Keith Harden of Lake City, Fla.; son, H. Virgil Harden III of Olive Branch, Miss.; three sisters, Mrs. Helen H. Adams of Gadsden, Ala., Mrs. Irma H. Hampton of Decatur, and Mrs. Thelma H. White of LaGrange; grandson, H. Virgil Harden IV of Lake City.

Mr. Howard Zachary of Moreland died May 3, 2000 at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, Ga.
Mr. Zachary was born June 15, 1926 in Coweta County.
A memorial service was held Monday, May 8 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Prospect Church in Moreland. The Rev. Allan Darden and the Rev. McArthur Blount officated.

Mr. Jessie Millard "Smiley" Horsley died May 5, 2000 at Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Horsley was born November 23, 1919 in Coweta County. He was a member of the Providence Baptist Church in Newnan.
A funeral will be Wednesday, May 10 at 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Newnan. The Rev. Felton James officiated, assisted by Evangelist Susie Hudson. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews.
Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death: Frank, Rolley and Willie Horsley, Opal Horsley and Rosa Horsley Grimes.
Surviving are his wife, Eula; two sisters, Ruth Stevenson of Atlanta and Addie Bledsoe of Newnan; two sisters-in-law, Minnie S. Montgomery of Newnan and Martha Horsley of Atlanta; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Bob L. Lee
Mr. Bob L. Lee, 81, of Highway 54 in Sharpsburg, Ga. died May 4, 2000 at Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Lee was born December 13, 1918 in Buffalo, Texas. He was a retired engineer with AT&T. He graduated from Buffalo High School and held a bachelor's degree in engineering. A member of the Special Forces in the U.S. Navy, he served in World War II. He was a member of Pioneers of America, a dedicated Mason for 50 years and a member of Turin United Methodist Church.
A funeral was held at graveside in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Saturday, May 6 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Griff Jones officiating.
At the request of the family, please omit flowers and make contributions to the Turin United Methodist Church building fund.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Lee of Sharpsburg; daughters, Tamara Lee of Dallas, Texas and Mildred and Tom Apgar of Batavia, Ohio; sons, Michael Lee of Imhouse, Texas and Michael and Barbara Rickles of Sharpsburg; and a host of grandchildren.
