Deacon John Henry Reed, 95, of Newnan died June 6, 2000 at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta.
Mr. Reed was born September 20, 1904 in Coweta County. He was a member of the St. John Baptist Church, Shenandoah, where he served on the Deacon Board and Usher Board. He also served as president of the Old Ship of Zion and was a member of Masonic Lodge 604. He retired from the public school system as a bus driver. He also worked as a well and grave digger for many years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.
A funeral will be Saturday, June 10, at 1 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. W. J. Clark as eulogist, assisted by Evangelist Renee Clark, Pastor Larry Bonner Sr. and other ministers. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Surviving are four daughters, Katie Williams, Helen (Williams) Bradfield, Hattie Freemand and Ollie Watkins of Atlanta; three sons, George W. Reed of Dayton, Merrill Reed of Atlanta, and Larry (Diane) Reed of Newnan; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Ms. Loretta Snead, 42, of Pinson Street, Newnan, died Monday, June 5, 2000 at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Ga.

Mrs. Flecie Elvina Stalnecker, 72, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and formerly of Newnan died January 8, 2000.
The remains were cremated and will be buried in a service at graveside 10 a.m. Monday, June 12, in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan. Son-in-law Rolf Wiesedeppe will preside. The family will receive friends at the cemetery.
Mrs. Stalnecker was born March 29, 1928 in Knox, Indiana to Jess and Edna Samuels. She was a homemaker and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary 7404. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Stalnecker, and a brother, Billy Samuels. Her husband David Stalnecker was from the Newnan area and she had lived in Newnan for 16 years.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Edna and Rolf Wiesedeppe of Oak Grove, Kentucky, Gene and Bob Hay of Vinita, Oklahoma, and Richard and Sandra Thornton of Clarksville, Tennessee; sisters, Frances Vories of Hamlet, Indiana, and Jessie Cormican of Knox, Indiana.

She was born March 19, 1924 in Haralson County, Ga. to the late Quincy and Stella Goosby Pope.

Mrs. Sewell was born March 22, 1937 to late Eula Mae Freeman and Andy Woods. She joined the Zion Hill Baptist Church at an early age.
A funeral will be held Monday, June 12, 2000, at 1:30 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Luthersville. The Rev. Driver will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Roland E. White, 87, of West Columbia, South Carolina, formerly of Hogansville, Ga., died Tuesday, June 13, 2000 at his home.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17 at Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville. The Rev. Wesley Boatman will officiate and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville with Masonic graveside rites.

Mr. White was born September 2, 1912 in Cleburne County, Alabama, son of the late Littleton Greenberry M. White and the late Mary Elizabeth Knowles White. He lived in Hogansville from 1944 until making his home in West Columbia in 1995, and was retired from Uniroyal, Inc. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville and was a member of the Hogansville Masonic Lodge an d the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lavis Stone of West Columbia and Mrs. Reba Young of Somerset, Wisconsin; two sons, Dolton White of West Columbia and the Rev. Ed. Mr. Capes was born May 23, 1933 in Davidson County, Tennessee. He was a system analyst for Gulf Oil and was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

Mr. Eason was born April 20, 1931 in Coweta County, son of the late Carl Monroe Eason and the late Sallie Strickland Eason. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, had lived in Troup County for the past 30 years, and was a member of the Baptist faith. He retired from the Troup County Correctional Institution.

Mrs. Francis Evelyn Dorsey, 94, of Newnan, died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Star Crest Nursing Home.
Mrs. Dorsey was born in Camden, Ala., to James and Eula Phillips, and was the widow of Floyd Dorsey. Mrs. Dorsey lived an active and busy life. She studied nursing in California, worked as a nurse at LaGrange Hospital for 17 years, and also worked as a private duty nurse during that time. Despite her busy schedule, Mrs. Dorsey found time to paint pictures and teach art, both in the Alabama School System and privately. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church in LaGrange.
A funeral will be held at noon Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at Jones Funeral Home. The Rev. Bobby Robinson will officiate, and burial will be in the Grantville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Mrs. Arah Mae Bishop, 93, of Newnan, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at Beaulieu Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Bishop was born Feb. 1, 1907, in Centralhatchee. She was the widow of Herman Bishop, and was retired from the National Biscuit Company. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Newnan.
A funeral will be held today, June 18, 2000, at 3 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Helms will officiate, and burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Mr. Brown was born October 25, 1985 in Mississippi and was a student.

Mrs. Frances Evelyn Dorsey
Mrs. Frances Evelyn Dorsey, 94, of Newnan, died early Saturday morning, June 17, 2000 at Starcrest Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Mrs. Dorsey was born in Camden, Alabama, to Mr. and Mrs. James and Eula Phillips. Mrs. Dorsey lived an active and busy life. After studying nursing in California, she worked as a nurse at the LaGrange Hospital for 17 years and as a private duty nurse during the same period. Despite this busy schedule, she still managed to find time to paint pictures and teach this art in the Alabama School System and to private individuals. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church. Her husband, Mr. Floyd Dorsey, preceded her in death.
Surviving are a nephew, Tom Davis of Newnan and a niece, Mrs. Frances Edward Hunt of LaGrange.

Mrs. Stella Beatrice Eley McWhorter
Mrs. Stella Beatrice Eley McWhorter, 95, of Five Notch Road, Franklin, Ga. died Sunday, June 11, 2000 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Ga. after several years of declining health.
Mrs. McWhorter was born August 12, 1904 to the late Joe and Ollie Walls Eley in Heard County, Ga. She was married to the late Rev. Rufus Alexander McWhorter and had two children, one of whom, Bryant McWhorter, preceded her in death. She joined the First Baptist Church of Centralhatchee at age 13, making her the oldest and longest serving member of the church. Along with fulfilling the duties of a minster's wife, she served as the supervisor of the Centralhatchee Elementary School lunchroom.
In her twilight years she lived with and assisted her daughter, Mildred McWhorter, a missionary in the inner city of Houston, Texas. While in Houston, she and Mildred adopted three young boys, who were added to her family as three additional grandchildren. She was an able and willing speaker and talked to many Baptist Student Union Associations around the country. At 92, she was asked to give her Christian testimony at the State Evangelism Conference in Branson, Missouri at the Will Robers Theater in front of several thousand attendees.
A funeral was Tuesday, June 13 at the First Baptist Church of Centralhatchee with the Rev. Talmadge Chandler officiating, assisted by the Rev. Charlie Drake and the Rev. Randall Fullerton.
Pallbearers were Tim Brahm, Terry Lane, Stan Smith, Brad Jackson, Jeremy Adams and Jamey Adams. Honorary pallbearers were Tonnie Adams, Randall Fullerton, Delmer Gosdin, Hal Shelnutt, Fred Hyatt and Chuck Loftin. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. McKoy was born February 10, 1931 in Meriwether County, Ga. to Grady McKoy and the former Belle Irvin. He was a retired painter. He was a member of East Newnan Baptist Church and also attended the Cave Spring School for the hearing impaired.
A funeral will be Wednesday, June 21 at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel with the Rev. Stan Rogers and the Rev. Frank Powers officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Rogers, Joe Keel Sr., Kent Tuggle, Ricky Hayes, Thomas Rogers and Bo Rogers.
Surviving are his wife, Katie Rogers McKoy of Senoia; son, Jeff McKoy, Senoia; sister, Frances Brown of East Newnan; sister-in-law, Clara McKoy of Newnan; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Pauline Yarbrough Nichols
Mrs. Pauline Yarbrough Nichols, 85, of Covington, Ga., formerly of Heard County, died Monday, June 19 at Newton County Hospital in Covington, Ga. after several years of declining health.
Mrs. Nichols was born November 3, 1914 in Randolph County, Alabama, to the late Charlie Peter Monroe Yarbrough, and Gillie Martha Edmondson Yarbrough. She was preceded in death by her husband Looney Glover Nichols. She was a housewife and retired seamstress from the Toddle Tyle Manufacturing Company. She was a member of the Ephesus Baptist Church.
A funeral will be Wednesday, June 21 at 2 p.m. at Ephesus Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. James Benny Hayes, 72, of E. Haynes Street, Newnan, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000 at his residence.
Mr. Hayes was born August 7, 1927 in Meriwether County. He worked as a water tank builder with Brown Steel in Newnan.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.
A funeral will be held at graveside in Oak Hill cemetery at 11 a.m. Friday, June 23. The Rev. Dwight L. Moody will officiate.

Mrs. Myrtle Elizabeth Jones, 70, of Grantville, Ga., died Wednesday, June 21, 2000 at an Allen Road address.
Mrs. Jones was born February 14, 1930, in Moreland, Ga. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dock Jones, and two sons, Pat Jones and Tim Jones.
The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home Thursday, June 22 from 6-9 p.m. and on Friday, June 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A funeral will be at Gordon Road Church of Christ Friday, June 23, at 4 p.m. Mansel Carpenter will officiate. Burial will be at Pitts Cemetery on Gordon Road.

Mr. Benjamin Alonza Davis, 103, of Thigpen Road, Newnan, died June 20, 2000 at Hamilton House Nursing Home, Columbus, Ga.
Mr. Davis was born May 18, 1897 in Carroll County, son of Ben Davis and Exie Horsley Davis. He was a retired farmer.
A funeral will be held at graveside in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Saturday, June 24 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Terry Calhoun officiating.
Surviving are his brother, Alfred Davis of East Point; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Betty Ezane Dawkins
Mrs. Betty Ezane Dawkins, 57, of Union City, Ga. died June 21, 2000 at Fayette Community Hospital following an extended illness.
Although born in Rockmart, Ga., Mrs. Dawkins lived most of her life in Union City. She was a food preparation worker in the fast food industry. Her hobby was loving and caring for her two grandchildren.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Robby Harkins and her grandchildren, Jamie and Cory Harkins, all of Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home Friday, June 23, between 10 a.m. and noon. A funeral will be at noon at Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Shannon officiating. Burial will be in White Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Ralph Hubbard
Mr. Ralph Hubbard, 73, of Franklin, Ga., died June 17, 2000 at Franklin Health Care Center after several months of declining health.
Mr. Hubbard was born August 6, 1926 to the late Ira Oneal Hubbard and Eunice Rogers Hubbard. He was retired from the Milliken Company. He was a member of the Elm City Masonic Lodge 544, the Atlanta Shrinner and Yaarab Temple, the original "Road Runner" of the LaGrange Shrine Club, and a member of the Columbus Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Franklin United Methodist Church, and served his country in the United States Navy. "Mr. Ralph" was an active member of the Heard County Senior Center. His humor and positive attitude will be greatly missed.
A memorial service was Tuesday, June 20 at 2 p.m. at Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin with the Rev. Rick McMahan officiating. The Rev. Theo Arnette offered a solo and word about Mr. Hubbard. Masonic rites and burial were at Restlawn Memory Gardens in LaGrange, Ga.
Surviving are his wife, Billie Rankin Hubbard of Franklin, Ga.; daughter, Beth Adams of Dallas, Ga.; sons, John Hubbard and Brad Hubbard, both of Franklin, Ga.; brothers, John Hubbard of Portsmouth, Virginia, Billy Hubbard of Hampton, Ga. and Jackie Hubbard of LaGrange, Ga.; three grandchildren.
