Mr. Arnold Cleveland
Mr. Arnold C. Cleveland, 70, of Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, entered into rest Tuesday, April 2, 2003 at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital in Augusta.
Graveside services were held Saturday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church in McBean with the Rev. Yonce Lively officiating. Mr. Cleveland was a lifelong resident of Richmond and Burke counties. He was a Baptist and member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. He retired from the City of Augusta Water Works Department and was also a retired farmer. Survivors include his wife, Lucy M. Cleveland of Augusta; one son, Timothy Cleveland of Charlotte, N.C.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were James Jackson, Garret Fulcher, Kris Quattlebaum, Ben Miller, Matthew Quattlebaum, Bobby Quattlebaum, John Gray and Bobby Brady.

Mr. Green C. (Bill) Parker
Mr. Green C. (Bill) Parker Jr. of Waynesboro, entered into rest Friday, April 11, 2003 at Burke Medical Center. Graveside funeral services were held Sunday, April 13, at 4 p.m. at Burke Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro, with the Revs. Bob Wells and Harold Rowland officiating. Mr. Parker was a native of Burke County and lifelong resident. He was the owner and operator of Parker Auto Sales, Chrysler and Dodge dealership for 45 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. Mr. Parker was a charter member of the Way-nesboro Exchange Club, as well as past president. He was also very active in the Burke County Exchange Club Fair. He was a director for Southern Bank, member of American Legion Post 120, Waynesboro, a Mason and member of Waynesboro Lodge #274 F&AM, and was a recipient of the 50-year pin. Mr. Parker was a past director of the Waynesboro Housing Authority, member of the Waynesboro Zoning Board, charter member of the Development Corporation of Waynesboro and past director of the Columbia County Game & Fish Club.
Mr. Parker was the son of the late Green C. and Lola Parker, and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lavonia Tanner and Lois Perry.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Reba Lambert Parker of Waynesboro; three brothers, Pete Parker of Waynesboro, Hobson Parker of Abbeville, Ala. and Tony Parker of Mt. Olive, N.C.; and two sisters, Ruth Braxton of Milledgeville and Jackie Wilson of the Bahama Islands.
Pallbearers were Louis Abbott, John Thomas Wynne, Roy Chalker, Phil Chalker and Clay Nalley.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Waynesboro Exchange Club and officers, directors and employees of the Southern Bank

Ms. Wendy A. Watkins Tucker
Ms. Wendy A. Watkins Tucker, 39, of 191 Ponderosa Road, Waynesboro, entered into rest Friday, April 11,2003 at Burke Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 14, at 11 a.m. at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel in Hephzibah, with Larry Watkins and the Rev. Hank Miskelly officiating. Interment was at Westover Cemetery in Augusta.
Ms. Tucker was a native of Richmond County and a lifelong resident of Richmond and Burke counties. She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Watkins Sr.

Mrs. Ruby Kate Bragg
Mrs. Ruby Kate Bragg, 71, of 3153 Bath-Patterson Road, Hephzibah, entered into rest Friday, April 11, 2003 at University Hospital in Augusta.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 13, at 1 p.m. at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro, with the Rev. Karen Zeigler officiating. Interment followed at Burke Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Bragg was a lifelong resident of Richmond and Burke counties. She had retired from Samsons Manufacturing Company in Waynesboro and was a Methodist. Mrs. Bragg was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Bragg.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia B. Amrhein of Heph-zibah; two sons, Mitchel Bragg of Sardis and Ronnie Bragg of Hephzibah; a brother, Clarence Jordan of Alto; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. E.J. Walker
Mr. Elvert Jacob (E.J.) Walker, 79, entered into rest on Friday, April 18, 2003 at Burke Medical Center. A memorial service was held Wednesday, April 23, at 4 p.m. at Burkehaven Chapel, 498 Park Drive, Waynesboro. Mr. Walker was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a millwright by trade, retiring from both DuPont and Plant Vogtle. He was a 50-year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local #283 and was a member of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Walker; a daughter, Marlesia Keenan of Aiken, S.C.; a son, Jacob Walker of Aiken; a brother, Howard Walker; two granddaughters, Dana and Carly Walker; five stepchildren, Annette Farley, Susan Shophen, Von Moore, Wayne Gaskey and Karen Reed; and 13 step-grandchildren. Mrs. Nellie Carpenter
Mrs. Nellie Ann Carpenter, 49, of 184 Virginia Ave., Waynesboro, died Friday, April 18, 2003 at Doctors Hospital, Augusta. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, at 2 p.m. at Noah’s Ark Baptist Church, Keysville, with the Rev. Karlton Howard officiating.
Mrs. Carpenter was born in Waynesboro on July 22, 1953 to Lucious and Fannie Mae McBride. She was united in holy matrimony to Wayne Carpenter Sr. on August 27, 1988. She was a member of Noah’s Ark Baptist Church and a dedicated member of the Willing Workers Garden Club where she served as garden club secretary. She was employed by Samsons Manufacturing Corp in Waynes-boro. She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving husband, Wayne Carpenter Sr. of Way-nesboro; two sons, Teri Tre-mayne Goodwin and Wayne Carpenter Jr., both of Waynes-boro; parents, Lucious and Fannie Mae McBride of Way-nesboro; godmother Rose Oliver of Waynesboro; six sisters, Elease Williams and Jeanette Holmes, both of Augusta; Joanne Williams of Ft. Mrs. Hazel G. Mooneyham, 73, of Prattville, Ala., entered into rest Sunday, April 20, 2003 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, April 23), 2003 at 4 p.m. at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Marvin Simpson officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Mooneyham was a native of Burke County before moving to Alabama in 1977. She was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sterling Chavous and Inez Inglett. Survivors include her husband, H. Asa Mooneyham of Prattville; three sons, Larry Chavous of Indiana, Roger Flakes and Johnny Flakes, both of Prattville; two daughters, Sybil Brown of Dearing and Darlene Godwin of Stephans, Ark.; two sisters, Gwinn Smith of Griffin and Betty Beasley of Augusta; two brothers, David Inglett of Jackson, S.C. and Leroy Inglett of Augusta; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren Pallbearers will be Donny Flakes, Danny Flakes, Frank Flakes, Alan Smith, Michael Inglett, Tony Beasley, David Inglett and Larry Chavous Jr.

Mr. A. Turner Holton III
Mr. A. Turner Holton III, 61, of Piney Grove Road, entered into rest Sunday, April 20, 2003 at his residence. Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, April 23), at 11a.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Nevil Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Mr. Holton is the beloved husband of Arlene Holton. He was retired from Augusta Newsprint and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Paul W. Eskew
Mr. Paul William Eskew, 73, of 178 Harris St., Midville, entered into rest Friday, April 25, 2003, at Burke Medical Center. Funeral services were held Monday, April 28, at 2 p.m. at Midville Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jerry Byrd and M.F. Price officiating. Burial followed the service at Parkers Methodist Church Cemetery in Bartow.
Mr. Eskew was born in Washington County, but had lived in Burke County most of his life. He was farm manager of DiLane Plantation, Waynesboro, for over 15 years and also worked at Magruder Plantation in Midville. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He had many friends and never met a stranger; he loved everybody.
Survivors include his wife, Marie B. Eskew of Midville; a daughter, Mary E. Glass of Swainsboro; a granddaughter, Jennifer F. Fortner of Swains-boro; four brothers, Roy Eskew, Julian Eskew, Fred Eskew and Charles Eskew, all of Waynes-boro; a sister, Dorothy Davis of Savannah; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Gary Johnson, Al Smith, Bobby Posey, Kenneth Johnson, Sheriff Greg Coursey, Mac Bradley and Dean Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Midville Baptist Church, R.E. Mrs. Elizabeth J. “Betty” Lubar, 82, of Sardis entered into rest Saturday, April 26, 2003, at Keysville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were held Monday, April 28, at 4:30 p.m. at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel, Waynesboro, with the Revs. Yonce Lively and Karen Ziegler officiating. Interment was at Sardis Cemetery. Mrs. Lubar was a native of Burke County, but had lived in Washington, D.C., prior to moving back to Sardis 27 years ago, and retired as a waitress from the restaurant business. She was a Methodist and a member of Sardis United Methodist Church. Mrs. Lubar is preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Lubar; her parents, Andrew C. Johnson and Ella Mae Johnson; two sisters, Lucille Turner and Dorothy Dant; and two brothers, Zeke and Buddy Johnson.
Survivors include four nieces, Linda Crews, Carolyn Dixon, Brenda Harvey and Hazel Hurst; two nephews, Donald Baker and Richard Johnson; 23 grandnieces and grandnephews; and 24 great-grandnieces and great- grandnephews. Pallbearers were Jerry John-son, Glenn Odom, Steve Cook, Craig Harvey, Ralph Odom and Grady Dixon.

Miss Sara Alice Richbourg, 79, of Brentwood Terrace, entered into rest Saturday, April 26, 2003 at Burke Medical Center. Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 29, at 11 a.m. at Mineral Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Mitchell, Ga. Mrs. Richbourg was a native of Washington County but had lived most of her life in Burke County. She was a Baptist by faith and a member of Sardis Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, John L. Richbourg Sr. and Emma H. Richbourg. Survivors include a brother, John L. Richbourg Jr. of Waynesboro; two sisters, Lily R. Joyner of Macon and Deanne R. Jenkins of Alexander; and several nieces and nephews. The family received friends Sunday, April 27, from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
