Mrs. Burgess was born May 28, 1942 in Rossville, Ga. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Comstock and Raymond Comstock.

Mrs. Embry was born November 22, 1916 in Newnan. She was retired from Sears, Roebuck & Co. and was a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Embry.

Mr. Lawrence was born May 9, 1944 in Newnan. He worked in engineering technology. He was a United States armed forces veteran.

Mrs. Nan Constance Olson Toler, 93, a homemaker, died Tuesday, October 17, 2000 at the Whispering Pines Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, Mississippi of heart failure.
A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Miss. A private graveside service will be held earlier Friday in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street at 11 a.m. Friday in the parlor of First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Toler, a native of Collins, Miss., was born February 21, 1907. She graduated from the Luberton High School and studied at the Atlanta Conservatory of Music in Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Toler had lived in Jackson, Miss. since 1930. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Toler.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Myra Marsh of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Connie Hogue of Newellton, Louisiana, Mrs. Caroline Humphreys of Birmingham, Ala. and Mrs. Ingrid Richardson of Newnan, Ga.; brother, Jack Olson of Kosciusko, Miss.; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lela Laverne Stephens Ussery, 67, of Roanoke, Alabama, formerly of Heard County, Ga., died Tuesday, October 17, 2000 at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Ussery was born November 8, 1932 in Heard County, Ga. to the late Luther Augustas Stephens and Mattie Lillian Cook Stephens. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jason Ussery. Mrs. Ussery was a beloved wife and mother and a Christian by faith.
A funeral will be Friday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. Georgia time at the chapel of Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home in Franklin, Ga. The Rev. Tim Whaley will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery in the Texas Community of Heard County.

Mrs. Ruby Paige Ball died Saturday, October 14, 2000 at Atlanta Medical Center.
Mrs. Ball was born March 27, 1905 in Carroll County to the late John Henry Paige and Emma Styles. Preceding her in death were her husband, Clinton Ball; son, Willie Gert; sisters, Whittie Bryant, Pearlie Bryant, Lizzie Mae Paige; and brothers, Alphonso Paige, Arthur W. Paige and John Henry Paige.
She joined Jones Hill United Methodist Church at an early age where she served faithfully. She was an active member of the lodge and enjoyed the fellowship that she shared with the members at the meetings and their social events.
A funeral was held Thursday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in Roscoe. The Rev. Joe P. Geter officiated, assisted by the Rev. J. C. Neal, the Rev. R. W. Sutton, the Rev. Melvin Brittian and the Rev. Ray Robertson. Burial was in the church cemetery. Nephews served as pall bearers.

Mr. Oliver K. "Bud" Duncan, 85, of Hogansville, died Thursday, October 19, 2000 at his home.
Mr. Duncan was born November 14, 1914, sonof the late Joel Brantley Duncan and the late Lena Allgood Duncan. An Army veteran of World War Two, he had lived in Hogansville for the past 60 years, was a member of St. James United Methodist Church inHogansville, and was a retired driver for Motor Convoy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Daisy Chapman Duncan, and his son, Richard B. Duncan.
A funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday, October 21 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Charles Crenshaw, the Rev. Don McDaniel and the Rev. David Pickard will officiate and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Charles Eric Ericsson, 67, of Newnan, Ga., died Thursday, October 19 at Emory University Hospital.
Mr. Ericsson was born August 8, 1933 in Jamaica Queens, New York. He spent most of his professional career in sales and engineering, and for a time owned and operated his own Quality Standard Consulting firm. He was a veteran of the Korean war serving in the army.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, October 22 in the chapel of the Hillcrest Funeral Home. Rev. Mullins will officiate.
Surviving are his wife, Gail Ericsson of Newnan, Ga., son John Ericsson of Madison, Wisc., Daughter and son-in-law Beth and Phil Napolitano of Newnan and grandaughter, Paula Napolitano of Newnan.

Mrs. Gaines was born May 16, 1925 to the late Fulton and Lizzie Freeman.

Mrs. Moran was born in Rosboro, Ark the daughter of George and Beulah Stroope. She was a retired clothing designer specializing in loungewear and robes for the Sears department store chain.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by a son Ronald Franklin Moran.

Mrs. Kathryn Fuller, 76, of Valley, Ala., died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000 at LaGrange Hospice.
Mrs. Fuller was born Oct. 2, 1924, in Fairfax, Ala. to the late Lois and W.T. Hill. She was a retired employee of West Point Pepperell's shipping warehouse in Fairfax, and was a member of Fairfax First Baptist Church.

Mr. James Gates, 53, formerly of Grantville, Ga., died Thursday, October 19, 2000 in Temple Hill, Maryland.

Mr. Harold Kiser Skinner, 74, of Newnan, died at Newnan Hospital Monday, October 23, 2000.
Mr. Skinner was born in Gwinnett County and moved to Newnan in 1985 following his retirement from Nabisco Foods, where he was employed as a baker. Mr. Skinner attended White Oak Baptist Church in Senoia, Ga.

Mrs. Betty Miller Johnson, 75, died October 25, 2000 in her home in Carthage, North Carolina. She lived for a number of years in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
Mrs. Johnson was a native of Newnan, Ga. and the daughter of Samuel Hill and Claire Smith Miller. She was a partner with her husband in the Construction Business. She was a member of the PTA Board and Grade Mother in the Southern Pines elementary and high schools, a Girl Scout leader, American Red Cross volunteer, Moore Regional Hospital volunteer, a member of the Executive Board of W. O. W., Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church for 10 years, a member of Alfred Moore Chapter DAR, member of Swingers Golf Club -- served as treasurer -- and a member of BPOD Drove.
Mrs. Johnson was a charter member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church. She was the first treasurer of the church, president of LCW, Circle Chairperson, Altar Guild Chairperson, Sunday School and Bible School Teacher.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church with Pastors David Keck, Scott Homesley and Jack Deal officiating. Burial will be later in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Her son, Melvin "Skeeter" Miller Johnson preceded her in death in 1994.
Surviving are her husband, Melvin O. Johnson; daughters, Martha Ruth Hohnson Radcliffe and Nancy Claire Johnson Blasingame, both of Whispering Pines, North Carolina; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Amanda Bell McGuire, 64, of Griffin, and a former resident of Luthersville, died Wednsday, Oct. 25, 2000 at her residence.

Mrs. McGuire was born July 19, 1936 in Rockdale County, daughter of the late James Oliver Bell and the late Bertha Cunard Bell. She lived at Luthersville for 20 years before making her home in Griffin in 1997, and was the wife of the late Richard Lee McGuire.
Surviving are three sons, Richard Lee McGuire Jr. of Hampton, Ga., James Gregory McGuire and Wendell Franklin McGuire, both of Griffin; sister, Mrs. Lucille Austin of Griffin; 12 grandchildren.

Mr. Ernest James Strickland, 93, of Washington, D.C. died Saturday, October 21, 2000 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Decatur, Ga.
A funeral was Thursday, October 26 at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Roswell, Ga. with the Rev. Sabian Strickland, pastor, officiating; the Rev. Willie R. Starks as eulogist; and assisting, Rev. Walter J. Hall, Rev. Darrell Thomas, Rev. B. Gerald Davis. Rev. April Wells, and Rev. Brazil Jones. Burial is scheduled in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia with full Military Honors on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m.
Pallbearers were Reginald Guy McCain, Deason Richard Strickland, Forest Williams Jr., Johnny B. Williams Jr., Rickey E. Williams and Terry M. Williams.
Mr. Strickland was the seventh child of eleven children and spent his early years in Sheltonville, Ga. He joined the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Roswell, Ga. in 1929 under pastor Rev. S. E. Gore. He served faithfully before relocating to Washington, D.C. He was drafted into the U.S. Army June 6, 1943 where he served as Private First Class in Comapany C, 169th Engineer, Combat B.N., C.E., U.S.A. He served in World War II and was stationed in Europe.
While serving his country he received a Purple Heart and an honorable discharge on Oct. 3, 1945. He lived in Washington, D. C. and in 1950 met and married his beautiful wife the late Hortense Alice Strickland. He retired from the National Hotel in Washington, D. C. as electrical engineer afte 35 years of diligent service. He touched the lives of everyone he met in a humorous and positive way and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a faithful man of God, a strong man of integrity and principles, and a man of Christian character.

Mr. Weaver was the son of the late Mrs. Bessie Ruth and Mr. John Alvin McKeever Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Weaver, Sr. (Lois) who also preceded him in death. He was born in Atlanta February 26, 1944. He was the eldest of six children.
Edward, as he was known by those close to him, attended Haugabrooks Academy and Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, Ga.
A funeral will be Saturday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. at Sellers-Smith R. W. S. Memorial Chapel in Newnan. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Newnan.
Surviving are stepfather Mr. John A. McKeever Sr.; four sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Moreland (Lois), Ms. Evelyn Smith, Ms. Velma Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. John Alvin Colton Sr. (Mary); brother, Mr. and Mrs. John Alvin McKeever, Jr. (Tommie); God Brother, Mr. George Matthews; three nieces; 11 nephews; a host of great nieces, great, nephews, family and friends, and one very dear friend who will miss him dearly.

Mrs. Fannie Ruth Kirby Huling
Mrs. Fannie Ruth Kirby Huling, 72, of East Freeman Street, Newnan, died October 24, 2000 at Newnan Hospital.
A funeral will be Sunday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. at Powell Chapel United Methodist Church on Old Atlanta Highway, Newnan, with the Rev. Joe P. Geter, pastor, as eulogist, assisted by the Rev. R. W. Sutton, Rev. Azell Warner and Evangelist Susie Hudson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, and honorary pallbearers United Methodist Men. Flower ladies will be nieces and friends, and honorary flower ladies will be the United Methodist Women. The cortege will assemble at the residence at 1 p.m.
Mrs. Huling was born August 13, 1928, to the late Mr. B. B. Kirby and Sally Cook Kirby. Four brothers and one sister preceded her in death. She joined Powell United Methodit Church at an early age and served faithfully until her death.
She was married to the late Daniel Huling, and they had three children. She was a kind and loving mother, neighbor and friend.
Surviving are daughter, Stephanie Sims; two sons, James Elliott and Bernard, all of Newnan; four grandchildren, Connie Colton, Nakisha Huling, Talena Huling and Vinson Sims; four great-grandchildren, Ardacious and Valeesia Colton, Zharia and Janayia Huling; son-in-law, Jake Sims; two brothers, Marcus Kirby of Norcorss, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Alton Kirby (Margaret); two sisters, Laura Mae Helton and Elvaphine Cook of Carrollton, Ga.; four sisters-in-law, Rose Vanlowe, Velma Huling, Detroit, Elizabeth Sutton, Mattie Huling, Margaret Kirby, Newnan, Ga.; three brothers-in-law, Leonard Huling, Detroit, Michigan, Rev. Mrs. Margaret Smith of Columbus, Ga. died Thursday, October 26, 2000 at Columbus Medical Center in Columbus, Ga.
A funeral will be Sunday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. at Sellers-Smith R. W. S. Memorial Chapel with the Rev. K. T. Henry officiating. Burial will be in the Luthersville Cemetery. Mrs. Margaret Strozier Smith was the first born of Carrie Phillips Strozier and Douglas Strozier. She was born in Atlanta, Ga. and attended school in Fulton and Meriwether County Public Schools. She enjoyed the experience of a large family, five brothers and three sisters. She started caring for her siblings at a very young age and chose domestic work for her career. She was a loving person and got joy out of giving what she had and cared for others.
Surviving are her companion, Clifford Henry; brothers, Mr. Eddie L. Strozier, Mr. and Mrs. William Strozier (Allene), Mr. and Mrs. Carl L. Strozier (Sallie) and Mr. Joseph Gaston; sister, Mrs. Georgia M. Hines; special brother-in-law, Mr. K. T. Henry; nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.

Mr. Johnny Zackery
Mr. Johnny Lee Zackery, 50, of Kirk Circle, Newnan, died Tuesday, October 24, 2000.
A funeral will be Saturday, Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. at the St. Peter Baptist Church on Lower Fayetteville Road, Newnan, Ga. The Rev. Kenneth Curtis, pastor, will officiate, the Rev. Willie Lee Geter will be eulogist, and assisting will be Evangelists Gloristein Arnold and the Rev. Rufus Smith. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the cousins and friends, flower ladies will be cousins, friends and family. The cortege will assemble at the residence at 2 p.m.
Mr. Zackery was born in Coweta County December 26, 1949 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman and Fannie Zackery Sr.
He joined the St. Peter Baptist Church at an early age, where he worked faithfully on the usher board. He always wore a smile and he never met a stranger. He had many friends. He graduated from Central High School in 1967 where he played football with pride. He worked at Douglas and Lomason Co. in Newnan, Ga. His last job was with United Parcel Service in Atlanta until he became disabled.
Surviving are daughter, Ms. Brenda Stephens; son, Johnny L. Zackery Jr.; stepdaughter, Ms. Dawn Smith, all of Newnan; two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Zackery, Chicago, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Zackery; two sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy (Carolyn) Champion, Atlanta, Ga. Mr. Willis Dennis Arrington
Mr. Willis Dennis Arrington, 73, of the Frolona Community of Franklin, died at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange after several months of declining health.
Mr. Arrington was born March 1, 1927, in Heard County to the late Rufus L. and Lula Noles Arrington. He was a member of the Ridgeway Methodist Church, and had served for many years as chairman of the Cemetery Committee. Mr. Arrington was retired from the Heard County Department of Transportation where he was a heavy equipment operator, and in recent years he had worked at the Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home. Mr. Arrington was an active member of the Ephesus Masonic Lodge, where he had obtained the rank of third degree.
A funeral will be held today, Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Ridley Herrin and Loyce Walker will officiate, and burial will be in the Ridgeway Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Arrington had requested that donations be made to the Ridgeway Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
Surviving are his fiancee, Beatrice Wingo of LaGrange; nieces Sara Betts of Whitesburg, Mary Ann Shelnutt of Franklin, and Anna Stephens of Ranburn, Ala.; nephews Garrie and Hayden Arrington of Whitesburg, Hal and Robert Arrington of LaGrange, Wendell Arrington of Roanoke, Ala., and Jackie Arrington of Franklin; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Mr. James McCambry, 78, of Newnan, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Ethia McCambry.

Mr. Ernest Bryan Perkins
Mr. Ernest Bryan Perkins, 83, of Newnan, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000.
Mr. Perkins was a long time resident of Atlanta and moved to Newnan after his retirement. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and was a retired auto parts and supplies distributor. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Morris, Georgia for most of his life.
A grave-side service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Union Untied Methodist Church Cemetery in Morris. The Rev. Tom Shannon will officiate.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Alvern Perkins; daughter and son-in-law Lynn Perkins Taylor and Charles Taylor of Alpharetta; brothers James Perkins of Montgomery, Ala., Eugene Perkins of Eufaula, Ala., and Donald Perkins of Greenville, S.C.; sisters, Dorothy Thurman of Tampa, Fla., and Faye Doswell of Abbeville, Ala.; and granddaughter Lauren Taylor of Alpharetta.
