Mr. Joe C. Harris
Mr. Joe C. Harris, 90, of Thigpen Road in Newnan, passed away April 20, 2001.

Mr. Harris was born on March 7, 1911 in Shelby County, Alabama, the son of the late Sid Harris and Della Brown Harris.

A retired painter and veteran of the U.S. Army and World War II, Harris was a member of Waco Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge #456 and West Georgia Shrine Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Leeda Faulkner Harris; one step daughter, Linda Pike; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 22, 2001 at 3 p.m. from Waco Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Thompson and Rev. Dewy Robinson officiating. Music will be provided by Mike Smith and Sheila Stamps. Pallbearers will be Caston Brock, Floyd King, Harold Marks, Leonard House and Bob Shealy.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge.

A Masonic graveside service will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, conducted by Bremen Masonic Lodge #456.

Mr. Joe Will Sims of 23 Pinson Street in Newnan passed on Saturday, April 21, 2001 at Newnan Hospital.

Mrs. Alma H. Winkles
Mrs. Alma H. Winkles, 86, of Newnan, died early Friday, April 20, 2001 at Starcrest Nursing Home in Newnan following an extended illness. Mrs. Winkles was married to the late Mr. Frank Winkles for 32 years at his death.

She spent her life taking care of her family, writing poetry, and making potholders and bonnets for her friends. She was a dedicated member of the Newnan Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Winkles, and a son, Mr. Edward Douglas Pitts.

She is survived by a daughter, Ms. Jane Johnson; a granddaughter, Mrs. Sandra Pitts; three grandsons, Mr. Robert Pitts, Mr. Joseph Johnson and Mr. Michael Johnson; nine great children and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Jones Funeral Home 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 22. The funeral service will be at Jones Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday, April 23 with David Hart officiating. Interment will follow at Sargent Cemetery in Sargent, Georgia.

Ms. Nannie Lynch, 88, of Midland Park Court, Newnan, Ga., died Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at Franklin Healthcare in Franklin, Ga.

Family may be contacted at the home of her son, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Lynch, 230 Hearthstone Drive West, Newnan, Ga.

A funeral will be Saturday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at Old Mt. Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Character, pastor, officiating, asisted by the Rev. Hamp Long. Burial will be in the Eastview Cemetery.

The remains will lie in state at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the home of Mrs. Lynch's son at 1 p.m.

Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Old Mt. Bethlehem Church. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Wilkerson, Milton Reese, Luther Lynch, Frank Tucker, Cleophus Echols and Wade Smith. Honorary flower ladies will be the Mothers of Old Mt. Bethlehem. Active flower ladies will be Lois Elom, Nellie Woods, Harriett Bailey, Esther Wilcoxson, Leola Hodo, Carrie Pritchett, Frances Morgan Newell and Deneise Shanks.

Ms. Lynch was born August 28, 1912 to Annie Lynch. She joined the Old Mount Bethlehem Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her illness. She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Willie P. Lynch.

Surviving are son, Mr. Jimmy (Sarah) Lynch of Newnan; one granddaughter, Miss Yvette Lynch of College Park, Ga.; grandson, Michael Wilcoxson of Newnan; step-grandson, Donovan Terrell of Franklin, Ga.; one brother in Washington, D. C.; one God-grandchild, Kiersten Williams; a host of cousins and friends.

Mr. Lovely "Love" McCoy Smith Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Lovely "Love" McCoy Smith Sr., 76, of Newnan will be Saturday, April 21, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Newnan.

The Rev. Johnny Coleman will preside as eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Hulon Kemp, Rev. Grady Vaughn, Rev. Jack Russell and other ministers.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers and members of the Masons Local 299 will be honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Smith was born in Coweta County October 18, 1924 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Lora Smith Sr. (Margaret). He was the third child born into this large agrarian family of 14 children. Growing up in this family, Mr. Smith was a faithful and loving son. He took over the farm when his two older brothers, William and Crawford "CT" went off to fight in World War II. He was also the first son to marry. He married Gertrude Nalls and they had 54 wonderful years together. They had six children: Lovely Jr. "Teddy," Elwood, Gloria LaVerne, Ronald, Jerome "Jerry" and Eloise. Mr. Smith was an ardent family man and he raised his six children to look out for each other.

Early in life he joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher, chairman of the Deacon Board and treasurer of the Building Fund. A pioneer, he was one of the first African American truck drivers. He worked as a Teamsters Long Distance Truck Driver for more than 35 years. He was a Union Steward of the Teamsters Union Local 728.

Lovely Smith Sr. was well-known throughout the community. He was a master barber until his recent death. As a volunteer he cut hair at the Starcrest Nursing Home. The residents looked forward to seeing him. He also cared for the sick and shut-in. He cut hair and shaved many people throughout Coweta County. He also consoled many families in their time of grief through his work at the Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home. Recognizing the need for citizens to be involved in the political process, he served as Assistant Poll Manager at the White Oak Precinct polling place.

He was treasurer of the Freemasonry Local 299 and a member of the John S. Martin Consistory 33 degrees, No. 367. He was also chaplain of the Teamsters Retiree Union.

Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Nalls Smith; six children, Lovely Jr. "Teddy" (Melody), Elwood, Ronald (Betty), Jerome "Jerry," Gloria LaVerne (Walter) Elder, and Eloise (Phillip) Burns; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Mr. and Mrs. William Smith (Rosa), Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Smith (Polly), Mr. and Mrs. Lora Smith (Bennie), Mrs. Wellie Wilborn, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Smith (Georgia), Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Smith (Mary), and Mrs. Margaret S. (Frank) Adair; numerous family members and friends.

Mr. Delbert W. Lynn
Mr. Delbert W. Lynn, 58, of Marsha Way, Sharpsburg, died Saturday, January 27, 2001 at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Mr. Lynn was born March 2, 1942 in Sacramento, California. He was a retired chief warrant officer with the U.S. Army after 21 years and 29 days of service. He enlisted in the Army March 3, 1966 and faithfully served his country until his retirement April 1, 1987. CWO Lynn received many medals and commendations while serving his country including the Bronze Star. He also served as a special agent in the Criminal Investigation Division of the Army.

A funeral was held Wednesday, January 31 at 11 a.m. at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan. A military chaplain officiated. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Road, Newnan.

Surviving are his wife, Gail Lynn of Sharpsburg, Ga.; daughter, Suzann Barkley of Austin, Texas; stepson, Pat Alexander of Atlanta, Ga.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Lynn of Sacramento, California; five grandchildren.

Mr. Thomas Dewey Cook, 52, of Newnan, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Mr. Cook was born Sept. 12, 1948, in Fayette County. He was a heavy equipment operator.

A funeral was, Wednesday, April 18, at 2 p.m. at Martin and Hightower Hillcrest Chapel. The Rev. Terry Calhoun officiated, and burial was in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Roy Dix, 56, of Newnan, died Saturday, April 14, 2001 at Portsbridge Hospice in Riverdale, Ga.

Mr. Dix was born December 25, 1944 in Hogansville, Ga., to the late Mrs. Ruthie Mae Philpot and Mr. John P. Dix. He was employed at Dan River Inc.

A sister, Doris Dix, preceded him in death.

A funeral will be Thursday, April 19 at 1 p.m. at Newnan chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hulon Kemp officiating, assisted by other ministers. Burial will be at St. Mary's United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hogansville.

Mrs. Nonnie L. Fuller, 72, of LaGrange, Ga., died Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Apri 20 at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Born December 28, 1928 in Randolph County, Ala., Mrs. Fuller was the daughter of the late Emmett and Eunice Freeman Brown. She lived in Troup County most of her life, was a Baptist, and was retired from Playtex International after 20 years of service.

Surviving are her husband, Otis M. Fuller of LaGrange; four children and their spouses, James and Diane W. Wuller of LaGrange, Deborah and Charles Ferguson of Phoenix, Arizona, Mike and Miriam N. Fuller of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Denise Cato Lynn of LaGrange; four sisters, Jenny Rhodes of Newark, N.J., Beth Shedd of Hannah, Wyom., Patti DeCarle of Rochester, N.Y., and Margie Schaueffer of Orlando, Fla.; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Tammy and James Powell of LaGrange, Angie and Jeff Brown and Charlie and Tammy Ferguson, all of Phoenix, Carrie Cato and Wayne D. Mr. Joiner was born November 18, 1952 in Fulton County, Ga. He was a facilities technician with BellSouth and was a Seventh Day Adventist.

Visitation was Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel.

Mrs. Fay Shoemake Jordan, 73, of Shoemake Road, Carrollton, Ga., died Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at her residence.

She was born July 24, 1927 in Carroll County to the late Samuel Houston Shoemake and Odessa Ayers Shoemake. She was a retired tip and dye room attendant from Southwire and was a member of Happy Hill Baptist Church.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by six brothers, Herburt "Pete," William "Bill," Ben, Render, Cecil and Elbert Shoemake; and one sister, Dorothy Bradley.

Surviving are her husband, Clarence "Bud" Milton Jordan of Carrollton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Ray Cramer and Debra Walker, all of Carrollton; son and daughter-in-law, Samuel M. & Shirley Jordan of Danielsville, Ga.; two sisters, Lucille Turner of Newnan and Aneline "Tan" Murphy of Jonesboro; two brothers, Tyree Shoemake and Ray Shoemake, both of Carrollton; seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one step-grandchild.

A funeral will be Friday, April 20 at 11 a.m. at Martin and Hightower Heritage Chapel, Carrollton, with the Rev. Donald Lee and Rev. Clay Pauley officiating. Mrs. Hannie S. Helton, 94, of Newnan and formerly of Grantville, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at Starcrest Convalescent Center.

Mrs. Helton was born September 6, 1906, in Carroll County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Eason. A resident of Coweta County most of her life, she retired from Grantville Mills after 50 years, and was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Newnan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Helton.

A funeral will be held Thursday, April 19, 2001, in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Carroll County.

The family will receive friends a the funeral home on Wednesday, April 18, from 3 to 5 pm. and 7 to 9 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Downey, J.W. Helton, Wilburn Eason, Jimmy Eason, James Helton, and Phil Eason.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Bobby and Ruth Helton of Newnan; brother Ernest Eason of Carrollton; grandchildren Angela Downey of Fairburn, James Helton of Leesburg, and Charlotte Davis of Bolingbroke; seven great-grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

Mrs. Helen Hope Brooks, 90, of Smokey Road, Newnan, died April 15, 2001 at her residence.

Mrs. Brooks was born Jan. 25, 1911 in Gainesville, daughter of the late Charles Rivers and Flossie London Hope. She had worked for the U. S. Postal Service and managed businesses with her husband, the late J. C. Brooks.

Mrs. Brooks was a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan.

A graveside funeral service will be held today, April 17, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Dr. Gene Tyre officiating officating. The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home today from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral.

Surviving are a daughter, Nadine Williams and her husband Joe of Newnan; grandchildren, Jennifer Elaine Stemberger, Sarah Anne Shelnutt; sisters, Lillian Hope Hoefler of Atlanta, Ruth Hope Robertson Lane of Gainesville; and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Georgia Mae Freed, 84, of Old Cartersville Road, Dallas, died April 16, 2001 at Paulding Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

Mrs. Freed was born Feb. 24, 1917 in Rocksbury Mills, Md. She was a retired book binder.

A memorial service will be held today, April 17, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home.

Mrs. Irene Pearson, 89, of Newnan, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Starcrest of Newnan.

Mrs. Pearson was born July 5, 1911 in Terrell County. She was a self-employed merchant.

A grave-side service was held Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Oak Hill Cemetery. Dr. Joel Richardson officiated.

Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Drake of Newnan, and her brother, Howard Eaton of Camp Hill, Ala.

Mrs. Frances L. Phillips of Newnan died Friday, April 13, 2001.

Mrs. Phillips was the eighth child born to Mr. and Mrs. Pell Durrah, and was a faithful member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by two of her children, James and Letitia.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at noon at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church. The Rev. W.C. Golphin will officiate, assisted by Bishop Billy Durrah, Rev. Hulon Kemp, and Rev. J.C. Neal. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. The remains will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the residence on Hill Street at 11 a.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Woods, Jr., Kenneth Durrah, Marcus Durrah, Randy Durrah, Taurus Durrah, and James Williams, and the United Methodist Men will serve as honorary pallbearers. Flower ladies will be Josephine Bailey, Lucrete Bonner, Emily Stephens, Connie Partridge, Azzie Lee Thompson and Christola Partridge. The United Methodist Women will serve as honorary flower ladies.

Surviving are her daughter, Rosie Phillips Williams; sister, Rudean King and her husband Clifford; life time partner Dan C. Powell brother, Square Albert Durrah; daughter-in-law La Rose Phillips; brothers-in-law Melvin Phillips, Clifford King, and Refford White; sisters-in-law Martha Jean Durrah, Julia M. Durrah, Martha Jean Phillip, and Dorothy Durrah.

Mr. James C. Arnall, 95, died April 11, 2001.

A native of Nyson, Ga., he was a longtime resident of Senoia, Ga. and Decatur, Ga. before moving to Savannah 16 years ago. He was a retired auditor with the State of Georgia Parks Department. He was the widower of Blanche Cravey Arnall.

Visitation was Friday, 5-7 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel, with a memorial/prayer service at 5 p.m.

A funeral will be at graveside Saturday at 2 p.m. at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Decatur, Ga.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Bill Grubbs of Savannah; grandchildren, Major Michael Grubbs of Pensacola, Fla., Beth Grubbs of Savannah and Nancy Wood of Atlanta; two great-grandchildren, Katie and Jake Grubbs of Pensacola, several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shirley McMichael "Chloe" Barth, 67, of Newnan, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at Newnan Hospital.

Mrs. Barth was born May 1, 1933 in Hogansville, Ga. She worked as a care giver.

Mrs. Rachel Thelma Krilla, 77, of Jonesboro, Ga., died April 12, 2001.

She was born July 4, 1923 and was preceded in death by her husband, Michael N. Krilla; son, Larry M. Krilla; granddaughter, Pamela K. Charlie; and a daughter-in-law, Lisa G. Krilla. She was a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church.

A funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 16 at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. Father Vinnie Rubino will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are daughters Cathie and Jay Hart, Jonesboro, Rosemary and David Sigler, Stockbridge, Michele Jarrard, Stockbridge, Raeliene and Ken Smith, Rydal Ga.; sons, Robert and Anne Krilla, Douglasville, Dennis and Sarah Krilla, Fayetteville, Richard and Linda Krilla, Dallas, Texas, Steve Krilla, McDonough, Patrick Krilla, Flowery Branch, Paul and Michel Krilla, Newnan; 27 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Muriel Aspera, Hawaii; brother, Joseph Francis Kaleiwahea, Tacoma, Washington; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Charlie Traylor
Mr. Charlie Traylor, 82, of Franklin, Ga., the Frolona Community, died at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Ga.

The family was receiving friends at Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home in Franklin Friday from 6-8 p.m.

A funeral will be Saturday, April 14 at 3 p.m. at High Point Church of God, the Reverends Loyce Walker and Dwayne Shadix officiating. The remains will be placed in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Traylor was born in Heard County, Ga., son of the late Benjamin Mige Traylor and the late Minnie Arrington Traylor. He was retired from the Heard County Road Department and lived in Heard County all his life. He was a member of the High Point Church of God in Heard County.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Brenda Rogers, Mrs. Barbara Spradlin and Mrs. Wilma Nelms, all of Franklin, Mrs. Sheri A. Mooney of Watkinsville, Ga. and Mrs. Rana Cosper of LaGrange, Ga.; two sons, Ray Traylor and Toney Traylor, both of Franklin; brother, Mr. Lamar Traylor of Newnan; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

Mr. James C. Arnall, 95, died April 11, 2001.

A native of Nyson, Ga., he was a longtime resident of Senoia, Ga. and Decatur, Ga. before moving to Savannah 16 years ago. He was a retired auditor with the State of Georgia Parks Department. He was the widower of Blanche Cravey Arnall.

Visitation is Friday, 5-7 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel, with a memorial/prayer service at 5 p.m.

A funeral will be at graveside Saturday at 2 p.m. at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Decatur, Ga.

Mrs. Mary Virginia Light Arnold, 84, of Peachtree City, Ga., died April 11, 2001.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Pierce Arnold and daughter, Patricia Burris.

Surviving are children, Ralph and Dianne Arnold, Riverdale, Ga., Larry and Martha Scott, Whitesburg, Ga., Don and Nancy Roddy, Bremen, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, Charles and Timmy Pomeroy, Melody Burris, Laura Thomason, Margie Scott, Missy and Mark Scott, Greg and Tess Arnold, Donna Sams, Christy Braswell and Kelly Roddy; 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. She also had an extended family of Roy Prichard of Louisville, Tenn. and Karen Pounders of Sharpsburg and their three children, all of whom she considered her own.

She was a resident of Southland Nursing Home, Peachtree City, where she was active in a number of programs including being elected Ms. Southland Nursing Home in 1999 and proudly representing her home in the state finals in Atlanta where she was the third runner-up.

A funeral will be Saturday, April 14 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley, 135 Senoia Road, Peachtree City. The Rev. Larry E. Scott and Dr. J. W. Wallace officiating. Burial in Westview Cemetery.

Mrs. Barth was born May 1, 1933 in Hogansville, Ga. She worked as a care giver.

Ms. Joni Johnson, 64, of Sharpsburg, Ga., died Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at her residence.

Ms. Johnson was born October 31, 1936 in Salt Rock, West Virginia. She was a real estate broker with Country and City Realty. She served her country in the U.S. Woman Army Corps.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m.

A funeral will be Saturday, April 14, at 11 a.m. at Abundant Life Faith Center. The Rev. Michael Merritt will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Road, Newnan.

Madison Adia McKie, infant daughter of Kevin Tyrone and Janet Barnett McKie of Riverdale, was born March 28, 2001 and died April 1, 2001 at the Henry Medical Center.

She is also survivied by her brother, Tyrone Billingsly, and sister, McKenzy McKie; maternal grandparents, Albert and Louise Barnett of Atlanta; paternal grandparents, Freddie and Sollene McKie of Rock Hill, South Carolina; great grandparents, Willie and Brennice Allen of Newnan.

The remains were cremated and no services are scheduled.

Mrs. Sara Joan Noles, 68, of Woodland, Alabama, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta, Ga.

Mrs. Noles was born in Troup County, Ga. October 4, 1932, daughter of Calvin and Winnie Cammon Hipp. She was employed by Ingles Grocery Store, was a member of the Womens Bowling Association, and Big Springs Baptist Church.

A funeral will be Friday, April 13 at 2 p.m. at Big Springs Baptist Church with the Reverends S. T. Janney and Scott Hanna officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Surviving are her husband, Bill Noles of Woodland; four daughters, Teresa C. Keith of Grantville, Ga., Candy Rudd of Tallahassee, Fla., Kathy Jo Morrow of Cedartown, Ga. and Windy T. Jenne of Melbourne, Fla.; sons, William A. Carden Jr. and David Keith Noles, both of Nwnan, Ga.; brother, Robert Calvin Hipp of Rayburn Gap, Ga.; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family was receiving friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Wedowee, Alabama after 5 p.m. Thursday, April 12.

Mrs. Noles will lie in state at the church for one hour beginning at 1 p.m. Friday.

Pallbearers will be Wynn Carden, Cleave Heath Jr., Jim Keith IV, Scott Noles, Durant Noles and Kevin Spears.

Funeral services for Mr. Tommie Sumlin, 77, of Taylor Circle, Palmetto, Ga., will be Saturday, April 14, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Ramah Baptist Church, 210 Spring Street, Palmetto, Ga.

The Rev. G. E. Harris, pastor and eulogist, with Reverend Isaac Sumlin Jr. officiating. They will be assisted by Reverends Willie H. Sumlin, W. R. Starks and Thomas Huggins. Burial will be in Palmetto City Cemetery.

Remains will lie in repose from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Mr. Sumlin, who died April 9, 2001, retired from Delta Airlines in 1989 after 34 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolphus (Lillie Freeman) Sumlin and siblings, Winnie Mae, Edward Roy, Harvie, Cornelia and Isaac.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Catherine Sumlin; daughters, Alice Elaine Stegall of Jonesboro and Sylvia Solomon of Palmetto; niece and nephews whom he raised, Dorothy Henry and Lamar (Minnie) Cochran; siblings, Marvin Sumlin, Broadus Sumlin; sisters-in-law, Emmett Sumlin of Atlanta, Ga., Nancy Sumlin of Rome, N.Y., Martha Sumlin of Palmetto, Ga., Ruby Sumlin of East Point, Ga., Amy Sumlin of Palmetto, Ga., Alberta Sumlin of Atlanta, Ga., Martha Sumlin of Decatur, Ga.; aunt, Eunice Dixon of Fort Campbell, KY; five sisters-in-law in Chattanooga and one in Georgia by marriage; three brothers-in-law in Tennessee and one in California; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepsons and four stepdaughters; two step-sons-in-law; 19 step-grandchildren; 29 step-great-granchildren; three generations of nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will assemble at the residence at 10 a.m. prior to the service.

Mr. Robert J. Crawford, 82, of Newnan, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Fairburn Healthcare Center.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12 at Faith Baptist Church in the Primrose Community of Meriwether County. The Reverend Henry Calhoun and the Reverend Billy Ball will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Crawford was born April 19, 1918 in Haralson County, son of the late Oscar and Sammie Harper Crawford. He lived in Coweta and Meriwether counties most of his life and was a member and former deacon of Faith Baptist Church. He was a retired produce salesman and was a United States Marine veteran of World War Two.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Lynn Crawford of Hampton; two grandchildren, Robby Crawford and Jennifer Crawford, both of Newnan; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Bentley of Tallapoosa and Mrs. Thelma Parker of Birmingham, Alabama; and brother, Ewell Crawford of Griffin.

The Rev. Andrew James Prather
The Rev. Andrew James Prather of Atlanta died April 9, 2001.

He was born May 27, 1947 to the late Mr. and Mrs. J. C. (Carrie Lee) Prather. He joined the Old Mt. Bethlehem Baptist Church at an early age, under the leadership of Rev. W. H. Steverson, and was ordained a deacon and later a minister.

He graduated from Central High School in 1965; attended Clark College for two years; and served in the U. S. Army for four years. He married Joan Maddox, and they had a son. He later married Marion Ann Morris, and they had two children.

A funeral will be Thursday, April 12 at 1 p.m. at Old Mt. Bethlehem Baptist Church on Corinth Road, Newnan, with the Rev. Charles Character officiating, assisted by the Rev. C. Davis, Rev. Jimmy Prather and Rev. Guy Prather. Burial will be in Summer Hill Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be deacons of Old Mt. Bethlehem and Summer Hill Baptist Churches.

Surviving are son, Christopher Lee Prather, Atlanta; daughters, Miss Marion Andrea Prather and Miss Robin Shakita Prather, Atlanta; grandson, Master Christopher Lee Prather Jr.; sister, Mrs. Sarah Prather Brown, Newnan; four brothers, Dea. Joseph Prather, Dea. and Mrs. Benny (Adrene) Prather and Dea. and Mrs. Marion (Lillian) Prather, Newnan, and Rev. and Mrs. Jimmy (Ruby) Prather, Atlanta; a very deal friend, Miss Tracy North, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Marion Allen Arnold
Mr. Marion Allen Arnold, 66, of Senoia, Ga., died April 7, 2001 at Haven House Hospice in Atlanta.

Mr. Arnold was born in Senoia May 29, 1934. He was in the United States Air Force from November 1951 to November 1971. He served at the end of the Korean Conflict and retired after two full terms in Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by parents Hubert Hillman and Susie Arnold and brother Hillman Arnold.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon Mae Arnold of Senoia; sons, James Hillman Arnold, John Arnold and Stephen Arnold, all of Idaho, Timothy M. Arnold of Senoia, and Theadore M. Arnold of McDonough; daughters, Cora L. Shackelford and Leanna M. Thompson, both of Griffin, and Tiffany H. Arnold of Senoia; brothers, Lester Hamilton Arnold of Marietta and William Albert Arnold of Tennessee; six nieces and nine grandchildren.

Private family memorial services will be held.
