Mr. Jack Wade, 65, of East Street, Newnan, died May 19, 2001 at his residence.
Mr. Wade was born August 15, 1935 in Coweta County to Claude Wade and Nettie Hanson Wade. He was a painter and carpenter and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was predeceased by his parents, Claude and Nettie Wade, as well as his wife, Eva Maude Wade and sisters Betty Broome and Shelby Ayers.
A funeral will be at graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery Tuesday, May 22 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bob Martin officiating.
Surviving are his sons, Chris Wade of Franklin and Jay Wade of Newnan; sisters, Mary Dearman of Newnan and Connie Strickland of Franklin; brothers, Ross Wade of Newnan and Edward "Buck" Wade of Newnan; three grandchildren.

Mrs. Geraldine "Gerry" Kramer Werner
Mrs. Geraldine "Gerry" Kramer Werner, 85, formerly of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, died May 20, 2001 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center in Newnan, Ga.
A funeral will be held at Central United Methodist Church of Kings Mountain, N.C. with burial at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
A native of Minnesota, and a long time resident of St. Louis Park, Mrs. Werner was the daughter of the late Augustus E. and Elsie (Raforth) Kramer, and the widow of Willard D. Werner.
A Certified Professional Secretary, Mrs. Werner was retired from Lithium Corporation of America. She was active in social and civic organizations including Professional Secretaries and Mid-Carolinas CPS Sociaety in Gastonia and Charlotte, North Caro9lina. She was an activbe member of Central United Methodist Church in Kings Mountain, NC, where she taught The Daughters of Wesley Class for more than thirty years.
She is survivied by a son, Glenn, and daughter-in-law June (Fisher) Werner of Newnan; daughter, Gail (Werner) Hegdahl and son-in-law Ronald Hegdahl of Peabody, MA; grandchildren, Kimberly (Hegdahl) Trimble and Ransom Trimble of Medford, MA, Michael and Ann Werner of Savannah, Ga., Eric and Kathleen Hegdahl of Wantagh, Long Island, New York, Tracy (Werner) Wilson and Thomas Wilson of Villa Rica, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Lori Werner and Hailey Hegdahl. She was also a proud step-great-grandmother to Ashley, Erica and Jeremiah Davis.

Mr. Charles R. Clifton, Sr., 80, of Newnan, died Saturday, May 19, 2001, at Beaulieu Convalescent Center.
Mr. Clifton was born Nov. 11, 1920, in Fulton County. He was a retired PBX installer for Southern Bell, and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Clifton was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Newnan, a former member of the Newnan Kiwanis Club, and Scout Master for First Baptist Troop 47.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at 3 p.m. in the old sanctuary of First Baptist Church. Dr. Gene Tyre and the Rev. Bob Morgan will officiate, and burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mr. William Lee Doster, 92, of Austell, died Thursday, May 17, 2001.
Mr. Doster retired from Akers Motor Line after over 24 years. A Jehovah's Witness since 1940, Mr. Doster was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Austell Congregation.
A funeral was held Saturday, May 19, 2001, at the Roy Davis Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Davie Rogers officiated, and burial was in Mozley Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Elmer Eugene "Jack" Preast, 61, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, after several years of declining health.
Mr. Preast was born Jan. 19, 1940, in Troup County to the late James Oscar Preast and Ollie Bee Brown Preast. He was a carpet layer for the Mill Store in LaGrange until the onset of his illness. Mr. Preast was a member of the South West LaGrange Baptist Church.
A funeral was held Monday, May 14, 2001, in the chapel of the Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home in Franklin. The Revs. Wayne Hester and Jarome Shipman officiated, and burial was in the Hill View Cemetery in LaGrange. Music was provided by Leesa Stutts Cothran and favorite songs of the family were played on tape. Born September 5, 1928, Bryan was a retired secretary with the William L Bonnell Co. and attended Gilead Methodist Church.
Visitation is at Hillcrest Chapel Sunday, May 20 between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. Services will be held at Mt. Gilead Methodist Church in Raymond, Ga. on Monday, May 21 beginning at 11 p.m., with Rev. Ray King and Mr. Marshall Bryan officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Samuel Thomas Madaris, 59, of Newnan, died May 17, 2001 at Hospice Atlanta.
A native of Newnan, he is the son of Gertrude Mary Strickland Madaris and the late John Madaris. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher Neil Madaris. Prior to his illness, Sam was employed by Owens-Corning in Fairburn.
Besides his mother, he is also survived by his wife, Nancy R. Madaris; his children, Samuel T. Madaris, Jr. and his wife Charis of Newnan, Bill Cochran and his wife Ronnie; grandchildren, Kaleigh and Elyssa Cochran, all of Dawsonville; brothers, Franklin Madaris, Eddie Madaris, Hubert Madaris and his wife Doris; step-mother, Clyde Madaris, all of Newnan; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Patricia Ann Hudson Pike, 46, of Franklin, Ga., died May 17, 2001 at her residence after several months of declining health.
Mrs. Pike was born in Fulton County, Georgia to her mother Barbara Robbins Hudson Mason and her father the late Laverne Hudson January 21, 1955. She was a loving wife and mother, and a Methodist by faith.

Mrs. Shumake was born October 14, 1954 in Cobb Counnty, Ga. to Thomas and Norma Eubanks. She died suddenly May 9, 2001 at the Well Star Cobb Hospital in Austell, Ga.
She was a faithful member of the Concord Baptist Church in Mableton, Ga. where she was a loyal Sunday School teacher. She was employed by the Cobb County Board of Education where she gave much love to the children she transported to and from school. She was a caring wife and mother.

Mr. Crook was born February 23, 1920 in Meriwether County, Ga. He worked for Ford Motor Company. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Senoia United Methodist Church for 50 years where he served as Sunday School superintendent, on the Board of Trustees, as chairman of the board and taught the Joy SS Class for 12 years.

Carl Wade Corley Sr., 65, of Ashmore Drive, Newnan died Monday, May 14, 2001 at Beaulieu Convalescent Center.
Mr. Corley was born March 8, 1936 in Cataula. He held a master's degree in education from the University of Alabama.
Mr. Corley worked for 30 years for the Coweta County School System, 18 of those years as principal of Moreland Elementary School.
He was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club and the Newnan Civitan Club. Mr. Corley was also presented with the key to the City of Moreland.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 17, from 6-8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.

Mr. Ronald Lozar Kempson, 32, of Gatewood Circle, Jonesboro passed on May 13, 2001 at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital.
Mr. Kempson was born March 7, 1969 in Coweta County to Robert and Marie Murry Kempson. He graduated from East Coweta High School and earned a degree from Columbia School of Broadcasting.
He was a disc jockey at local radio station 92.1 in Jackson. Mr. Kempson was employed at Kason Industries as a production planner.
Mr. Kempson was a member of Paradise Church of God in Christ and a former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Newnan.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 16, from 6-8 p.m. at Sellers-Smith Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Thursday, May 17 at 1 p.m. at Paradise Church of God in Christ, 434 Hendrix Drive, Forest Park, with Bishop Paul L. Fortson, officiating, assisted by Rev. Melvin Brittain, Rev. John Farmer, Rev. Dana Graham, Evangelist Carolyn Fortson, Pastor Clinton Elder and Dr. Ann Bowles. Mr. Steve Mitchell, 54, of Sweetgum Circle, Newnan, died Sunday, May 13, 2001 at his residence.
Mr. Mitchell was born February 28, 1947 in Opp, Alabama. He was a textile executive -- a 19-year employee of Southern Mills, Inc. serving as vice president of manufacturing for the specialty textile company with plants in Newnan, Senoia, Atlanta and Molena. He was involved in many aspects of the community, coaching sports from recreation department T-ball and baseball to soccer and football; and in particular serving as 1992 president of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce. He was a longtime member of The Heritage School board of trustees, having had all three of his children graduate from there. He was a former member of the boards of directors of Farmers and Merchants Bank and Humana Hospital-Newnan (now Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital), and he was on the Executive Board of the Flint River Council Boy Scouts of America. He served the Newnan Presbyterian Church as deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher. He graduated in 1969 with a B.S. degree in Textile Engineering from Auburn University and was an avid fan and supporter. A veteran, he served his country as an officer in the U.S. Army from 1970-72.

Mr. L.P. Overstreet, Jr., 76, of Moreland, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Overstreet was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Alabama. Mr. Overstreet was involved with the Boy Scouts and was a Sunday school teacher and a substitute teacher in the Coweta County School System for 17 years. He retired from United Airlines after 45 years of service. Mr. Overstreet was a deacon at Faith Baptist Church, a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, William Thomas Overby Camp 715, and a veteran.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. Dr. Mark Spence and the Rev. Don Helms will officiate, and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Chip Brown, Darren Couch, Chris Greer, Paul Overstreet, Scott Phelps, and Tom Phelps.

Surviving are his wife, Willene Overstreet of Moreland; his children Lynn Overstreet and his wife Susan of Denver, Colo., and Dianne Webb and her husband Mike of Newnan; nine grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Sandra Thomas Hollberg, 64, of Senoia, died Thursday, May 10.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. George's Episcopal Church in Griffin. The Rev. Spurgeon Hays will officiate. Burial will follow at the Senoia City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan from 6-9 p.m. today.
She was born in Atlanta and was a graduate of Washington Seminary and Agnes Scott College. A former kindergarten teacher, she wed Charles Frank Hollberg III in 1958. They made their home in Senoia, where she worked with her husband operating Hollberg's Fine Furniture.
Mrs. Hollberg was an active member of the Alter Guild of St. George's Episcopal Church in Griffin. She enjoyed traveling with her family as well as cooking, reading and gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Hollberg III of Senoia, two daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Ted Gaskin of Bethesda, Md., and
Catherine and Steve Minor of Carrollton; a granddaughter, Harper Minor of Carrollton.
Mrs. Hollberg was preceded in death by a son, John Hollberg.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations go to the American Cancer Society, 27 Clark St., Newnan, Ga. 30263.
Pallbearers will be Will Haugen, Carl McKnight, Robert P. Campbell, John Johnson, James Baggerly Jr., Himmy Hutchinson, Frank Wilkinson and David Church.

Former Hogansville resident Mrs. Katherine Mize Williams, 73, of Slidell, La., died Friday, May 11, at the home of her sister in Cedartown.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Wesley Boatman will officiate with burial in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Williams was born July 16, 1927 in Buchanan, daughter of James Bradley Mize and Bessie Crumbley Mize. She was a former resident of Hogansville and was a Baptist. She had lived in Louisiana since 1959.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Kathie Lingo of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; five sisters, Mrs Mae Lyle of Carrollton, Mrs. Mary Wicichowski of Parish, Fla., Mrs. Jean Bowman of Cedartown, Mrs. Joyce Bonner of King, N.C., and Mrs. Barbara Smith of Conway, S.C.; one brother, W. Mrs. Ayers was born February 12, 1928 in Coweta County, Ga. She was a homemaker.

Mr. William Paul Fluellen
A funeral for Mr. William Paul Fluellen, 57, of Newnan will be Saturday, May 12, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Corinth, with the Rev. Johnny Strickland officiating, assisted by the Rev. Gary Johnson, the Rev. B. Glanton, Rev. Willie Johnson and Rev. C. Melson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews and cousins.
Mr. Fluellen was born March 26, 1944 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Manon Fluellen. He died May 8, 2001 at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
He joined the Mount Zion Baptist Church of Corinth at an early age, and was a faithful member until his job kept him on the road.
One brother, James Fluellen, and one sister, Agnes F. Anderson, preceded him in death.
He is survived by three children: Carmen Hawkins, Cleveland, Ohio, William Fluellen Jr., Atlanta, and Shayla Fluellen, Amarillo, Texas; three grandchildren, Marquel, Damon and Jasmine; two sisters and one brother, Rev. and Mrs. Gary (Marie) Johnson, Mae Thelma Richarson and Mr. and Mrs. Samuel (Shari) Fluellen; aunts, Mrs. Hazel Geter, Mrs. Hilda Turner and Mrs. Willie Potts; uncles, Charles Potts and Albert Potts; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Peggy Ann Eubanks Shumake, 46, of Austell, Ga., died suddenly May 9, 2001 at the Well Star Cobb Hospital.
Mrs. Shumake was born October 14, 1954 in Cobb County, Ga. to Thomas and Norma Banks. She was employed by the Cobb County Board of Education and was a faithful member of the Concord Baptist Church in Mableton, Ga. She was a much loved wife and mother.
