Born in Whitesburg, Ga., he moved to Florida in 1965 from East Point, Ga. where he was a salesman for an electronics company. He was Baptist.

Mrs. Coggin was born November 25, 1935 in Moreland, Ga. and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Evelyn Jackson Scarbrough of East Point, died May 7, 2001.
A 25-year employee of C&S Bank, Mrs. Scarbrough was a charter member of the Dogwood Chapter of IAAP and a member of the Fellowship Class at the East Point First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Mark Vernon and Susan Owens Langston of Newnan; granddaughter, Sue Anna Langston of Memphis, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Harvey Scott and Janette W. Jackson of Hernando, MS; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Billie "Bill" Moody Woods
Mr. Billie "Bill" Moody Woods, 83, of Newnan, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at his residence.
Mr. Woods was born August 1, 1917 in Fayette County, Ga. and raised in Brooks, Ga. He was retired from the old Coweta Dairies and was a resident of Newnan for over 60 years. He married Harrisonel Hyde in 1939 and they were married for 52 years until her death in 1991. Mr. Woods worked for Colonial Grocery Store in both Griffin and Newnan before beginning a career with Coweta Dairies, where he worked in public relations. As part of his duties, Mr. Woods opened new accounts and handled advertising for the Dairy. As long-time residents of Newnan may remember, Coweta Dairies served Coweta County as well as surrounding counties for many years selling "All Jersey Milk." For years Mr. Woods was a familiar face in local stores.
He was an active member of Liberty Christian Church for 62 years. He served as treasurer, deacon and elder for many years and dedicated his life to serving the church. He also spent many years serving the community through his service in the Kiwanis Club. As a member of Kiwanis for 35 years he was given the Legion of Honor Award, he was recognized for having 30 years Perfect Attendance, and he served as Inter Club Chairman for many years. Mr. Woods' family is establshing a Kiwanis Club Scholarship in his memory and requests that donations be made to this charity in lieu of flowers. Ms. Jackie Amick
Ms. Jackie Amick, 69, died of cancer May 4, 2001 at Commonwealth Care Center, Fairfax, Virginia.
Ms. Amick's career spanned more than 33 years with Glemby International and resulted in extended assignments in Atlanta, Mobile, Richmond, Philadelphia and Cincinatti. She was one of the company's first women to earn the distinctive title of Vice President. After retirement from Glemby International, she moved to the Northern Virginia area and assumed the human resources position of chief trainer for new associates at Woodward and Lothrop Department Stores. During the past five years she concentrated her efforts on volunteer work at Kennedy Center and was very active in her church, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She was particularly happy working with and sponsoring adults who had made the decision to embrace the Cathoic faith.
Burial will be at the Court of Christ Mausoleum in National Memorial Park, Falls Church, Virginia. Those wishing to honor her memory are asked to make donations in her name to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Willie C. Hill, 84, of Newnan, died May 3, 2001, at Atlanta Medical Center after a brief illness.
A funeral was 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8 at New Hope A.M.E. Church in Haralson. Bishop A. L. Holmes was eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Willie Heard Jr., Rev. James Alexander, Rev. Sally Sadles, Rev. L. H. Moreland, and Evangelist Susie Hudson. Burial was in Old White Oak Grove cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry Tolbert, C. L. Smith, Arthur Paige, Jerry Bell, Curtis Huff and Laron Calhoun.
Mr. Hill was born April 12, 1917 to the late Cornelia Hill and Mary Hill. The oldest of seven children, he was affectionately known as "pop see" to his friends and co-workers.
At an early age he joined the New Hope A.M.E. Church and served faithfully until he moved to Atlanta. He would return every August for Homecoming. After retiring from the City of Atlanta Water Works, he moved back home to live with a very devoted and loving sister, Ms. Louvenia Hill.
He married Dollie Strickland Hill and they had three children. His wife Dollie Bob Hill; daughter, Martha Walker; and son, Willie H. Hill preceded him in death.

Mr. Raymond Terell "Chug" Jenkins, 14, of Talbotton, Ga. died Saturday, May 5, 2001.
Mr. Jenkins was born November 2, 1986 in Columbus, Ga. He attended Central Elementary/High School in Talbotton, Ga. He played football for the seventh and eighth grade. Also he helped with training for the varsity basketball team. He dedicated his life to Christ at and early age and participated in the Bluff Springs Gospel Choir. He was a loving child who had a love for drawing and going to car races. His desire in his young life was to finish high school and go into the military.
A funeral will be Thursday, May 10 at Powell Baptist Church on Powell Road in Talbotton. Burial will be in Bluff Springs United Methodist Church cemetery. The Rev. Mr. Charles Wesley Jones Jr., 69, of Newnan, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at his home after a courageous eight-month battle with cancer.
Mr. Jones was born August 21, 1931 in Savannah, Ga. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1950-1954. He retired from Delta Airlines as a lead mechanic with 35 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Greenwood Jones; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie Jones Beaty and John T. Beaty Jr. of Moreland and Mary Margaret Jones Norton and Michael S. Norton of Newnan; three granddaughters, Morgan Ashley and Lauren Nicole Beaty, and Hailey Elizabeth Norton.
Mr. Jones was predeceased by his parents, Charles W. Jones Sr. and Louise Nessmith Jones and survived by a brother, Roland B. Jones of Orlando, Fla.

Mrs. Shirey was born January 21, 1916, in Randolph County, Alabama, to the late Cephus and Lena Johns Davis. She lived in Hogansville most of her life, and retired from Uniroyal, Inc. after 45 years of service. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville and the Amazing Grace Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil M. Shirey, and a step-grandson, Bill Oliver.

Mr. Larry Wayne Wall, 65, of Newnan, died Friday, May 4, 2001, at Newnan Hospital.
Mr. Wall was born November 8, 1935, in Dover, Fla. He was a retired engineer for CSX Railroad, and served in the United States National Guard. Mr. Wall was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lucille Burson Harris, 86, of Hogansville, died Friday, May 4, 2001 at Hospice LaGrange.

She lived in Hogansville most of her life and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and the Amazing Grace Sunday School class. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Harris.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Jones of Hogansville; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Louise Burson of Hogansville and Mrs. Elizabeth Burson of Douglasville; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mr. Slaton was son of the late West and Della Slaton. He was born April 8, 1920 in Meriwether County. He married the late Mrs. Opal Lee Griggs-Slaton and they had seven children.

Mrs. Ethel Attaway Houston, 84, of Grantville, Ga., died Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at Starcrest Convalescent Center in Newnan.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 4 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Jimmie L. Willis will officiate and burial will be in Grantville Cemetery.

Mrs. Attaway was born December 7, 1916 in Coweta County, daughter of the late Bert and Elizabeth Morrison Attaway. A lifelong resident of Coweta County, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grantville, was retired from Grantville Mills after 30 years of service, and was the wife of the late William T. Houston.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Charles Clampett of Newnan and Janice and Charles East of Grantville; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Smith and Mrs. Mary Payne, both of Newnan; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Nellie Mae Carr, 74, of Atlanta, Ga., died April 22, 2001 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Mrs. Carr was born March 2, 1927 to Calvin and Blanche Lucas. She attended Young Street Elementary and Washington High School where she graduated. She worked 35 years at Scripto Manufacturing Plant where whe retired. A marriage was formed with the late Robert Carr, he preceded her in death after 35 years of marriage. Nellie had two sons, the late Robert Carr Jr. and the late Jarrell Carr; and one daughter, Jackie Elliot. She leaves behind a son-in-law, Sam Elliot; and grandson Zerious Jordan; sister, Ethel Speed of Chicago, Ill. and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Johnson was formerly from Turin. He was retired from the United States Army, having served during World War II.

Mrs. Janette Emily McKenzie, 88, of Pleasant Ridge Road, Carrollton, Ga. died Tuesday, May 1, 2001.
She is survived by her husband of more than 62 years, Jackson Oswald "J. O." McKenzie.
Mrs. McKenzie was born in Carroll County November 3, 1912, the daughter of the late Lem Alvin Gordon and Lula Walker Gordon. She was a member of the Stripling Chapel church, which whe attended all of her life. She had worked at Lawler's Hosiery Mill.
In addition to her husband, she is survivied by brother and sisters-in-law, Harold and Susie Gordon, Dorothy Gordon, Ruth McDowell and Lorene McKenzie, all of Carrollton and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Pauline Sharp, Myrl Scales; brothers, Watson Gordon, Grady Gordon, Donald Gordon, Seryle Gordon and Alvin Gordon.
A funeral will be Thursday, May 3, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Stripling Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Laurie Moeller officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:30 until 2 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers include Mark Foster, David Sharp, Tracy Gordon, Doug Worley, Larry McKenzie and Jim Hughes.

Mr. Parker was born January 3, 1910 in Vienna, son of the late James and Mary Anders Parker. A longtime resident of Meriwether County, he was a retired used car dealer, was a member of Miracle Way Baptist Church and had made his home in Middleburg for the past six months.

Mr. Jonathan Ashley Young, 47, of Bevin Drive, Macon, Ga., died April 26, 2001 at Atlanta Medical Center.
A funeral was April 20 at Hines Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Benjamin E. V. Lett, pastor of First Baptist Church of Macon, officiating. He served as a medic in the United States Air Force and fulfilled dcuties in the USAF Reserve. He worked many years in the field of broadcasting, journalism thorughout the Southeast as a licensed radio operator, sales production staff and assistant engineer. He was an enthusiastic sports fan. He received an Associate of Arts degree from Macon State College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgia State University. He was currently employed as a school teacher at Grady High School in Atlanta.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gwenever M. Mr. David Allen Buckallew Jr., 19, of Grantville, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001.
Mr. Buckallew was born in Pensacola, Florida and had lived most of his life in Grantville. He graduated in 2000 from Flint River Academy in Woodbury, Ga. where he was a member of the debate team, played first base and catcher for the baseball team and lettered in football. He was employed by the Texas Roadhouse Restaurant chain and attended West Georgia College. Mr. Buckallew was a member of St. George Catholic Church.
Surviving are his mother, JoAnn Murphy of Grantville; father and stepmother, David Allen (Sylvia) Buckallew Sr. of Jonesville, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer (Ted) Williams of Newnan; grandparents, Herbert and Delores Davis of Grantville; aunts, Shelley Landrum of Newnan, Nita Graham of Tampa, Florida; niece, Anna Williams of Newnan; several cousins.

Mr. Johnnie W. Carr, 79, of Springdale Drive, LaGrange, died Thursday, April 19, 2001 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Mr. Carr was born Aug. 27, 1921 in LaGrange, son of the late John Albert and Gertrude Turner Carr. He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.
Mr. Carr was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. He had lived in LaGrange most of his life and was a member of Mountville United Methodist Church.
A funeral was held April 22 in the chapel of Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home in LaGrange with Dr. William Conine, Rev. Winston Skinner and Dr. George R. Sinclair Jr. officiating. Interment followed at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery at Alvaton.

Mr. Smith was born October 27, 1925 in Habersham County, son of the late Elbert and Addie Powers Smith. A former resident of Gwinnett County, he had lived in Hogansville since 1987 and was a member of Highland Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran and was a member of the Hogansville Senior Center.
Surviving are two daughters, Miss Alice Smith and Miss Lisa Smith, both of Hogansville; and one sister, Mrs. Allene Waters of Newnan.

Mrs. Mary Cleo Strickland of Highway 85, Alvaton, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Newnan Hospital.
Mrs. Strickland was born in Cobb County, daughter of the late Hardy and Dora Murphy Bailey. She was a homemaker and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her son, Carl Banks.
Services were held April 26 in the chapel of Smith-Steele-Meadows Funeral Home in Woodbury with Rev. Winston Skinner officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Evelyn Evans.
Interment followed at Alvaton Baptist Church Cemetery with Edward Argroves, Fay Bassett, Bobby Bishop, Johnny Caldwell, P. J. Calhoun and Harrell McFarlin serving as pallbearers.
