She was the daughter of Kisha Pace and Perez Cleveland, and was the granddaughter of Randall Pace and Mr. and Mrs. Willie Arnold (Michelle Brewster) and James Cleveland.
Her great-grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Melvin Pace (Christine) and Mrs. Mary Kate Brewster.

Mr. Glover W. (Wayne) Cammons, 80, of Olathe, Kansas and a native of Roopville, died Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Alan Mathura will officiate and burial will be in the Grantville Cemetery, with full military honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 7-9 Saturday night.
Mr. Cammons was born August 26, 1920 in Roopville, son of the late Howard and Lucile Wynens Cammons. A veteran of World War Two and the Korean Conflict, he retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service and had lived in Olathe for the past ten years.
Surviving are three sons, Col David Cammons of Enola, Penn., Mike Cammons of Modesto, Calif., and Larry Cammons of Plantation, Fla.; six sisters, Mrs. Agnes Cosper of Ephesus, Mrs. Clovis McClurg of LaGrange, Mrs. Lorene Howington of Thomaston, Mrs. Ethel Chadwick of Olathe, Kan., Mrs. Nellie Butler of Newnan, and Mrs. Mary Hall of Wadley, Ala.; two brothers, James Crawford of Carrollton and Lee Nelson of Covington; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Martha Hays Pinson Lanum of Rockville, MD, and a native of Newnan, died Sunday, July 8, 2001 at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
A foreign service wife who traveled world wide, Mrs. Lanum had been an administrative assistant at The Smithsonian Institute. She was born in Newnan August 6, 1920, daughter of Ben Hill and Martha Hays Pinson who were pioneer Newnan families.
Surviving are her husband, John Blake Lanum; daughter, Christine Lanum Shaw; son, Scott Blake Lanum; granddaughter, Rachel Christine Shaw; sister, Rachel Pinson Van Tuyl and her husband Russell Murray Van Tuyl.
A funeral at graveside will be Saturday, July 21, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan with Dr. O. Eugene Tyre officiating.

Funeral services for Ms. Virginia Ada Ransby Alford will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2001 in Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where she held membership, with Rev. Newton Williams, pastor, officiating.
Ms. Alford of Jacksonville died July 15, 2001. A native of Franklin, Ga., she resided most of her life in Jacksonville. She was employed by the Duval County School System until she retired in 1976 after 26 years of dedicated service.
Surviving are her two sons, James D. Alford III of Jacksonville (Maggie), and Dr. L. Craig Alford of Charleston, S.C. (Dr. Eleanor); daughter, Mrs. Marilyn A. McDaniel of Fairburn, Ga. Mr. Grady Zane Stancil, 70, of Venice, Florida, died July 17, 2001 at his home after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Stancil was born January 27, 1931 in Lakemont, Ga., to Joseph R. Stancil and Lavida J. Stancil, both who were from Clayton, Ga. He came to Newnan, Georgia in 1984 and was a self-employed businessman for 40 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
A private funeral is planned for Friday, July 20 at 1 p.m. in Sarasota, Florida at Hawkins Funeral Home.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Stancil of Venice, Fla.; children, Joe Stancil of Newnan, Ga.; stepson Scott Green of Panama City, Fla.; stepdaughter Sherri Mapel of Tampa, Fla.; brothers and sisters, Evelyn Harmon of Clayton, Ga., Lloyd Stancil of Leonardtown, MD, and Howard Stancil of Fort Valley, Ga.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Warren Keith Woods, 41, of Loganville and formerly of Palmetto, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001.
Mr. Woods was born March 2, 1960 in College Park to Sharon Warren and Wanda Faye Woods. He lived most of his life in Union City and was a 1978 graduate of Campbell High School, where he was a star fullback for the Campbell Bears. He worked for Delta Airlines for 23 years and was an active member of Snellville United Methodist Church and a former member at Conyers First United Methodist Church. Mr. Woods enjoyed off-road riding in his Jeep, motorcycles, watching airshows, and hiking. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Woods Campbell.
Mr. Woods was a devoted father, husband, brother, and uncle above all. He had recently returned from a vacation with his extended family, where he had out-fished everyone there.
A funeral will be held Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m. at Snellville United Methodist Church with the remains placed in state at 10:30 a.m. Dr. David B. Jones will officiate, and burial will be in Eternal Hills Memory Gardens.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cora "Bell" Prather Patrick, 93, of Senoia, Ga., will be 1 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Red Oak Baptist Church, Gay, Ga.

Mrs. Patrick was born September 17, 1908 in Meriwether County, Ga. to the late Virgil and Maggie (Warner) Prather. She was educated in the Meriwether County Public School System. She was a homemaker and instrumental in rearing many generations of children.
At an early age she joined the Sunny Side Baptist Church in Greenville, Ga. She later adopted the Red Oak Baptist Church and Mount Venus Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late Emmitt Patrick.
She was the mother of 13 children, six of who preceded her in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Cora Mae Prather, Alvaton, Annie Lois (Roosevelt) Hall of Luthersville, Annette Favors and Alberta Favors of Senoia; three sons, Virgil (Elizabeth) Prather of Gay, Willie Frank Prather of Luthersville and William Lee Favors of Senoia; sister, Mrs. Alberta Keith of Gay; 33 grandchildren; 138 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Ms. Karen Carnes Sanders, 38, of Dowdy Road, Roopville, Ga., died Suddenly Monday, July 16, 2001 in Memphis, TN.
She was born in Coweta County to Scooter Carnes and the late Joe E. Carnes. She was a waitress at the Pit Stop Barbeque in Bowdon and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
Survivors are her mother, Scooter Carnes of Whitesburg; children, Tara Sanders of Roopville and Ben Sanders of Aiken, S.C.; her best friend, Dino Kilgore and their children, Stephanie Kilgore & A.J. Kilgore; maternal grandmother, Nona Sewell of Whitesburg; two sisters, Sherry Word of Franklin and Cassie Carnes of Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Mr. Charles Ray Staton
Mr. Charles Ray Staton, 72, of Sharpsburg, Ga. died Monday, July 16, 2001 at his residence.
Mr. Staton was born December 28, 1928 in Yancey County, North Carolina.
He was a retired Sgt. Major in the United States Army where he served in Korea and Vietnam. He earned a Bronze star and numerous other accolades for his service to his county. After retirement from the Army, Mr. Staton worked as a corrections officer at the Federal Penitentiary in Atlanta where he was a hostage for 11 days during the prison riots in 1987.
A funeral will be at McKoon Funeral Home chapel on Friday, July 20 at 7 p.m.

Joseph S. Atchison, Lt. Colonel U.S. Army Retired, of Sharpsburg, Ga., died July 15, 2001.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army with 24 years of service including Vietnam and Desert Storm. His awards include the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Legion of Merit. Most recently he was employed as a political analyst with International Consultants at the 3rd Army at Fort McPherson.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Jane H. Atchison of Sharpsburg; daughters, Amy Leigh Atchison of Ft. Worth, Texas, Ayn Atchison Owens of Ft. Worth, Texas; son-in-law, Tod Owens of Ft. Mr. Barrett was born November 18, 1934 in Cleburne County, Alabama, son of the late H. M. and Mae Hanson Barrett. He had lived in Hogansville since 1954, was a member of Spirit-Filled Ministries in Hogansville, and retired from Uniroyal, Inc. after 34 years of service. He and his wife, the late Peggy Shaw Barrett, served as foster parents for 18 years.

Born September 21, 1913 in Wedowee, Ala., Mrs. Lassetter was the daughter of the late John and Georgia Cole Thompson. She lived in LaGrange most of her life and was retired from the Dixie Division of West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Co. She had lived in Sulphur since 1993 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sulphur.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Fred Whitley of LaGrange and Lana and Thomas Winkles of Sulphur; grandchildren, Freddie Whitley, Gloria Smith, Jenny Ledford, Phillip Turner and Mark Whitley, all of LaGrange, Sondra Lee of Hogansville, Russell Miller of Greenville, Kay Blackwell of West Point, Crystal Turner and Carl Mead of Sulphur, and Anne Henry of Connecticut; 17 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Billy Paul Moore, 75, of Pine Mountain, Ga., died Thursday, July 12, 2001 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Ga.
Mr. Moore was born August 12, 1925 in Pine Mountain, son of Olin Turner and Essie Mae Alberson Moore. He was retired from General Motors Lakewood Plant in Atlanta, Ga and lived in Harris County most of his life. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, member of the United Auto Workers, and an active member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.
A funeral was Sunday, July 15 at 3 p.m. at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Harris County, Ga. The Rev. Mike Ayers and the Rev. Ellis Freeman officiated. Burial was in Hopewell United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Edis Wiley
Mrs. Edis Wiley, 86, of Newnan, died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Wesley Woods.
Mrs. Wiley was born Dec. 21, 1914 in Coweta County. Her family was one of the pioneering families of Coweta. She worked with her cousin, Wayne P. Sewell's, traveling stage production in Roscoe, and was a charter member of the Newnan Pilot Club. Mrs. Wiley lived in Tampa, Fla., for 20 years, and was a homemaker and a member of Newnan First United Methodist Church.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at 4 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
It is asked that flowers be omitted, and contributions be made instead to First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her nephews, Clifford Cranford, John Herbert Cranford, and Sam Doster of Newnan; her niece, Candy Hancock of Newnan; and 12 great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ernest Melson, 41, of 174 Country Club Road in Newnan, died Thursday, July 12, 2001 at Newnan Hospital.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 16, 2001 at 1 p.m. at St. Smyrna Baptist Church on Bruce Jackson Road. Reverend J.W. Russell Jr. will officiate, assisted by Reverends R.W. Sutton, Clinton Melson and Billy Avery.
Burial will be at the Bethel Heard Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will assemble Monday at 12 p.m. at the residence.
Mr. Melson was born January 2, 1960 in Newnan. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Willie B. Melson.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Katrina Favors Melson; three children, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis (Delena) Poythress, Randell Favors and Semone Melson; two nephews, Kelsey and Anthony Jermaine Favors; his mother, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie (Roberta) Melson; four brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Willie (Janna) L. Mr. Pat Rainwater, 56, of Newnan, died Friday, July 13, 2001 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in the Chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Reverends Bob Martin, Charles Crenshaw and Darris Baker will officiate, and interment will be in the Grantville Cemetery.
Mr. Rainwater was born February 1, 1945 in Newnan, and was a life-long resident of Coweta County. He was a member of Lovejoy Memorial United Methodist Church in Newnan and was employed by Coweta-Fayette EMC.
For many years, he served as a little league umpire and was a member of the Umpires Association. Mr. Rainwater was preceded in death by his father, James Patman Rainwater, and his step-father, Harry L. Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred Justiss Rainwater of Newnan; two daughters, Mrs. Kelley Iverson of Grantville and Mrs. Melissa Jones of Hogansville; one son, Kevin Rainwater of Newnan; his mother, Mrs. Edna Brooks Jackson of Grantville; one sister, Mrs. Jane Barringer of Atlanta; two brothers, Bruce Jackson of Atlanta and Lane Jackson of Newnan; and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Effie Lee Robinson Steel, 83, of Franklin, Ga., died July 12, 2001 at her residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Steel was born August 27, 1918 in Troup County, Ga. to the late Earl Robinson and Roberta Atkins Robinson. She was a spinner in the Textile Industry and a loving wife and mother. Mrs. Steel was a Baptist by faith.
A funeral will be Sunday, Juy 15 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home with the Reverends Ray Harrington and Jimmy Bowdon officiating.
Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville, Ga.
