Mrs. Helen Louise Watts, 89, of Walton Road, Newnan, Ga. died Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at Brightmoor nursing home in Griffin, Ga.
Mrs. Watts was born April 25, 1912 in Coweta County. She worked as a spinner in the textile industry and was a member of Mills Chapel Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at Martin and Hightower Hillcrest Chapel Thursday, July 12 from 6-9 p.m.
A funeral will be Friday, July 13 at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel. The Rev. Frank Powers will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Norton, Eddie Norton, Jonathon Norton, Matt Norton, Michael Norton, Tommy Norton and Lindsey Norton.

Mrs. Audrey Moore White, 95, of Kennesaw, Ga., formerly of Carrollton, Ga., died June 20, 2001.
She is the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Lelia Williams Moore and was married to the late Tinsley R. White for 50 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carrollton.
She was employed by the Carroll County Family and Children Services for more than 20 years and with the State University of West Georgia for 10 years.
Memorial services will be held Friday, July 13 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home, 548 Newnan Street in Carrollton, with Dr. William M. Holt officiating. Pat Reynolds and Emily Huckeba are in charge of music.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Betty W. and John Kamperman of Marietta; four grandchildren, Carolyn and Brad Sears of Newnan, Morgan and Collene Smith of Charlotte, Jeffrey and Gena White of Shreveport and Tamara White of Lawrenceville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
One son, Thomas White, died several years ago.

Mr. Barton was born July 8, 1913 in Greenville, South Carolina, son of the late William and Ozella Goins Barton. He had lived in Hogansville since 1923, was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and retired as assistant personnel manager for Uniroyal Inc. in Hogansville after almost 50 years of service. He was a founding member of the Hogansville Sportsmans Club.

Mr. Hyde was born February 2, 1941 in LaGrange, Ga. He was the owner of an auto salvage company and a veteran of the U.S. armed forces.

Master Taylor Kyle Toole, 5, of Gordon, Georgia, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at the Children's Hospital of the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Master Toole was born in Macon and was a pre-K student at the Crawford County Eagle's Nest. He was a very special boy with a tender heart, loved to fish, and was a former member of the Tigers T-Ball team at Wilkinson County Little League.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the First Evangelical Church in Gordon. The Revs. Tim Long, Glenn Lyles, and John Hagen will officiate. Burial will be announced later. Mr. Albert Eugene Railey, 70, of 352 Ringer Road in LaGrange, died Friday, July 6, 2001 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Born February 20, 1931, Mr. Railey was retired from Whitman's Chocolate Co. and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church and a former member of the White Oak Golf Club in Newnan.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at Rosemont Baptist Church in LaGrange, with Reverend Max McCord and Mr. Steve Miller officiating.
Burial will be at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange. The body will lie-in-state at the church one hour before services.

Mrs. Martha Lee Johnson Sims died Friday, July 6, 2001 at Newnan Hospital.
Mrs. Sims was born April 30, 1934 in Coweta County. She was married to Mr. John A. Sims Sr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Johnson and Jennie Mae Herring.
At an early age she attended Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Later she joined the Penecostal Church of God in Newnan.
She was an active member in the choir and a faithful, praying woman.
Graveside services will be on Monday, July 9, 2001 at 2 p.m. from the Eastview Cemetery, with elder Frankie Key officiating.

Mrs. Capes was born May 12, 1911 in Covington, Ga., daughter of the late Elijah Washington Hammond and Susie Ann Nolan Hammond. A homemaker, she had lived in LaGrange most of her life and was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Capes and by a son, Ray Capes.

Chief Driver's License Examiner Joyce Pinson Hines Ellison was born November 28, 1951 in Coweta County, Ga. to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy and Geraldine Pinson. She joined the St. Paul C.M.E. Church at an early age. She was a faithful member and once held office as superintendent of Sunday School, served as a member of the St. Paul C.M.E. Church Choir and was a member of the American Union Relief Society.
One son, Eric Gunnell Hines, preceded her in death as did a brother, Larry Gunnell Pinson.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moreland and was a member of Bingham Masonic Lodge #53.

Mrs. Clarice Sewell died Tuesday, July 3, 2001 in Pasadena, Texas.
Mrs. Sewell was a beloved wife, devoted mother and loving "Nana" to her grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pasadena, Texas since 1962, was an avid golfer where she won numerous golf tournaments, and a member of the Baywood Country Club of Pasadena.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Tom Sewell Sr.; sons, Tom Sewell Jr. and wife LaVerne, Scott Sewell and wife Linda; sisters, Myrl Kelley, Verna Garner and Ila Brown; grandchildren, Jeff Sewell, Stephanie Sewell, Chris Sewell and Kelli Anne Sewell; niece, Georgeanna Price and husband, Charles; numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. Ed Walthall Jr., 87, of Fayetteville, Ga., died July 3, 2001.
He was born July 4, 1913. He was a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. Mr. Walthall was a graduate of Georgia Tech. He was commissioned in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel and served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired with 45 years service from the Department of Transportation as the Senor Road Design Engineer.

Mrs. Dorothy Lynnell "Lynn" Carnes, 79, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, formerly of Newnan, died Sunday, June 10, 2001 at Baptist Hospital, Pensacola, Florida, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Carnes was born April 28, 1922 in Danville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of James Clifton and Daisy Clayton Harrod Satterfield. She was raised in Dayton, Ohio.
Mrs. Carnes was church secretary for Central Baptist Church from 1973-1978.
Mrs. Carnes enjoyed living life to the fullest and encouraged her family to do the same. She was an avid animal lover, which she passed on to her daughters. She especially loved the Airedale Terrier. But most of all she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by her family and her many friends in Newnan and Gulf Breeze, Florida, where she and her husband Bill had lived for the past 23 years.
Mrs. Carnes was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mrs. Mary Parks, all of Dayton, Ohio.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Billy Scott Carnes of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Carnes and John Garrett of LaGrange, Ga., Tracy Scott and Damon Tale of Statham, Ga.; grandsons, Derek William Rainwater of LaGrange, Ga., Scott Everett Brooks of Statham, Ga.; and granddaughter, Cory Lynnell Pelzer of Athens; special family friend Dave Vellers of Aroda, Va.; her two dogs, Puffy an Airedale Terrier and Lil Guy, an 'all American dog' as well as many friends.

Mr. Raymond E. Cole, 83, of Sharpsburg, died June 30, 2001.
Mr. Cole was born April 13, 1918. He was widowed, having been married to the late Doris Pierce Cole. He was a member of Coke's Chapel United Methodist Church in Sharpsburg. Mr. Cole was founder of Raymond Cole's Transmission in East Point and worked for Colonial Stores for 17 years. He was an avid sportsman.
A funeral was being held at Carl J. Mowell and sons Funeral Home, Peachtree City, Monday, July 2 at 11 a.m. Burial was in Westminster Memorial Gardens. The Rev. John Hagen officiated.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Janice (Butch) Cassell, Sharpsburg, and Mrs. Caroline (Larry) Huckaby, Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Trae (Rose) Cassell, Orange Co., California, Travis (Patti) Cassell, Sharpsburg, Robin (Al) DiGiulio, Sharpsburg, Jimmy Huckaby, Sharpsburg, Amy Huckaby, Sharpsburg; great-grandchildren, Cole Cassell, Sharpsburg, Christina Huckaby, Sharpsburg, Roman and Reed DiGiulio, Sharpsburg; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Charlie Bartow Edwards, 75, of Peachtree City, Ga., died June 30, 2001.
Mr. Edwards was born August 26, 1925. He was a member of Peachtree City First Baptist Church.
A funeral was being held at Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home in Peachtree City, Ga., Monday, July 2, 2001 at 2 p.m. Burial was in Westminster Memorial Gardens. Officiating was Rev. Bill DeLay.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Edwards of Peachtree City; daughters, Peggy D. Edwards of Buford, Mrs. Debbie (James) Presley of Whitesburg, Mrs. Valorie (Bob) Stitt, Newnan; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Merle Riley Evans, 77, of Newnan, died Sunday, July 1, 2001 at her home.
A funeral was conducted 7 p.m. Monday, July 2 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Rev. Billy Burks officiating. Burial will be at noon (Central Daylight Time) Tuesday, July 3 at Old Center Methodist Church Cemetery in Newville, Alabama.
Mrs. Evans was born March 30, 1924 in Henry County, Alabama, daughter of the late Harry and Florence Blackmon Riley. A resident of Coweta County since1944, she was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she was active in the senior Sunday School. She retired from the William L. Bonnell Company in Newnan after 31 years of service and was the wife of the late William Dorsey (Bill) Evans.
Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Diane Avery of White; two sons, A. E. (Buddy) Pate III and Harry Pate, both of Newnan; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Grace Elmore of Newville, Ala. and Mrs. Shirley Woodham of Dothan; one brother, Junior Riley of Headland, Ala.; seven greanchildren, Teresa Kimbrell, Christie Pate, Willie Pate, Amber Wheeler, David Phillips, Quentin Frankiewiez, and Leslie Frankiewiez; three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ruby Little Twiggs
Mrs. Ruby Little Twiggs, 80, of Sharpsburg, Ga., formerly of Fayetteville, Ga., died Saturday, June 30, 2001 in Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
Mr. Twiggs was born in Suwanee, Georgia, September 6, 1920, a daughter of the late Glenn Little and Naomi Lou Duckworth Little Valentine. She grew up in Union County, Ga., but lived most of her life in Fayetteville. She was a member of Salem Methodist Church, and was retired from Internal Revenue Service. Mrs. Twiggs had been preceded in death by her husband, Mercer Twiggs in 1990.
Surviving are a daughter, Sarah Rebecca Carroll of Sharpsburg, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, James Guy and Anna Lee Thomas Little, of Evening Shade, Arkansas; six grandchildren and their spouses, Richard and Andrea Thompson of Sharpsburg, Mike and Starr Thompson of Signal Mountain, Tennesssee, Derek and Denise Carroll of Peachtree City, Ga., Danny and Angie Carroll of Fairburn, Ga.; Pat and Jimmy Gilbert of Florilla, Georgia; and Lisa Carroll of Florida; nine great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral is Tuesday, July 3 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville with Pastor Carl Knowles officiating. Visitation at the funeral home was Monday evening from 6-9 p.m.
Burial will be in Choestoe Cemetery in Blairsville. Pallbearers are Richard and Mike Thompson, Jimmy Gilbert, Derek Carroll, Jimmy Weeks and Don Wood.

Mrs. Julia A. Blackburn, 77, of Newnan, died June 29, 2001 following a brief illness.
She was the widow of the late Duke Cole Blackburn Sr. and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl O. Attaway, all of Newnan.
Mrs. Blackburn was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Newnan, and an avid gardener and sustaining member of the Driftwood Garden Club and Newnan Junior Service League. A devoted housewife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Duke Cole Blackburn Jr. (Lynn), Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Martin Blackburn II(Kathryn), and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Matthew Blackburn (Jennifer). Her sisters are Mrs. Frank Kewitt of Wellsboro, PA. and Mrs. Lewis R. Collins Sr. of Newnan.
Grandchildren are Duke Cole Blackburn III, William Cole Blackburn, Benjamin Blackburn, Kathryn Dell Blackburn, Laura Elizabeth Blackburn, Robert Matthew Blackburn Jr. and Julia Victoria Blackburn; and her great-grandchild is Duke Cole Blackburn IV.
She is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews and an extended family of friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Blackburn will be conducted Sunday, July 1 at 2 p.m. at graveside in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

Mr. Sidney Sinclair Griffith, Sr.
Mr. Sidney Sinclair Griffith, Sr., 69, of LaGrange, died Friday, June 29, 2001 in LaGrange.
Mr. Griffith was born Aug. 18, 1931 in Manchester to George Welby Griffith and Georgie Sinclair Griffith. He was a trooper for the Georgia State Patrol and a U.S. Deputy Marshall, and retired as clerk of Federal Court. Mr. Griffith attended the University of Georgia and was a member of Manchester First United Methodist Church and the Georgia Peace Officers Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Moran Griffith.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, July 3 at 2 p.m. at Manchester First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Manchester City Cemetery.
Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law Geni and Charles Boswell of Manchester and Celia and Buddy Hay of Peachtree City; his son and daughter-in-law Sidney Jr. and Lisa Griffith of Columbus; his brother, David Griffith of Manchester, and five grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margie Temples Davis, 66, of Heard County, Georgia were conducted Wednesday, June 27, 2001 at 4 p.m. from the Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Jimmy Drew officiating.
Music was provided by Leesa Stutts Cothran.
Pallbearers were Jeremiah Pyndol, Gary Dobbs, Daniel Pyndol, Bobby Whight, Gordon Hill and Tori Marlow. Interment was held in the Welcome United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Davis was born December 21, 1934 in Heard County to the late Orn Temples and Ida Mae Levene Temples. She died Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at her home in Franklin, Georgia. She was a former employee of Franklin Aluminum Company, but for the pass several years she had enjoyed being with her family as a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Franklin.
Survivors include three daughters; Danna Davis of Temple, Ga., Robin Dobbs of Felton, Ga., and Marlene Davis of Roopville, Ga.; one son, Bill and Manda Davis; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Avaline H. Hooten, 83, of Daytona Beach, Florida and a former resident of Hogansville, died Thursday, June 28, 2001 at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, July 2 at the graveside in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, with the Reverend Max McCord officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 until 5 p.m. today.
Mrs. Hooten was born July 27, 1917 in Troup County, daughter of the late Preston and Mary Rosser Huff. Before making her home in Daytona Beach three months ago, she lived in Hogansville most of her life, was retired from Uniroyal Inc., and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Hogansville.
Survivors include a daughter and a son in-law, Becky and Frank McWaters of Daytona Beach; a son and daughter in-law, Steve and Jane Hooten of Hogansville; one sister, Mrs. Virginia Smith of Birmingham, Alabama; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Rick Hooten.

Mrs. Lucille Wilkerson, 98, of 3 Holiday Drive, Hatchechubbee, Ala. died Tuesday, June 26, 2001.
She was the grandmother of Deacon Willie J. Walton and Evangelist Susie Hudson.
Celebration of LIfe services will be on Monday, July 2, 2001 at 2 p.m. from the Friendship Baptist Church in Hatchechubbe, with Reverend A. Miller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wilkerson was born March 31, 1907 in Russell County, Alabama to Nancy Wilkerson. She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. George Walton.
Survivors include two daughters, Princella Holliday and Ola Fortson; two grandchildren she reared, Barbara Scott of Columbus, GA. and Mary Smith of Gary, Indiana; 13 grandchildren; 32 great granchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren.
A wake will be held today at International Funeral Home in Columbus from 6 to 7 p.m.
