Mrs. Phillips was born February 6, 1950 in Newnan. She worked as a traffic clerk at Olsonite and was a member of Sharpsburg Baptist Church.
The family was receiving friends at McKoon Funeral Home Friday from 6-8 p.m.

Mr. William Beauregard "Beaux" Ballard III, 36, of Grand Lake, Colorado, formerly of Sharpsburg, Ga., died July 20, 2001.
Mr. Ballard was known as an adventurer with a love for the Colorado Mountains. He was an avid snow skier and loved to ride snowmobiles. He will be remembered for his big love and caring nature for others.

Mr. Jimmy Brooks, 35, of Peachtree City, Ga., died August 6, 2001.

A loving, caring and hard-working person, he had a passion for the construction work he did. He was a wonderful son and brother. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather Albert Brooks of Newnan and maternal grandfather Tom Scott of Senoia and paternal great-grandmother Cornelius Bray.

Mrs. Nezzie Thompson Fuller, 81, of East Highway 5, Whitesburg, Ga., died Wednesday, August 8 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.
She was born April 20, 1920 in Carroll County to the late William A. "W.A." Thompson and Sally Freeman Thompson. She was a retired employee of Playtex Apparel of Newnan and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett E. Fuller; one daughter, Bessie Louise Fuller; two brothers, Roy Thompson and Tom Thompson; two sisters, Lois Patterson and Alvis James; and a grandson, Kerry Lee Madden.
Surviving are six daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte Fuller of Palmetto, Virginia Tuggle of Winder, Joice and Billy Thurman and Judy and Rev. Mr. James Edward LeFlore, 43, of Opal Street, Luthersville, Ga., died Monday, August 6, 2001 at his residence.
Mr. LeFlore was born September 4, 1957 in Anderson, Indiana to Mr. and Mrs. James E. LeFlore Sr. He was reared by his aunt Mrs. Christine LeFlore and uncle Mr. Haywood LeFlore. He was preceded in death by his father and uncle. He married Mary Joan Bowles in 1987. James grew up in Southbend, Indiana and later moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he graduated from Finger High School. He enlisted in the United States Army June 21, 1976 and served for 16 years, working as a heavy wheel vehicle mechanic. He received an honorable discharge April 22, 1992. After the military he began a career as a truck driver.
A funeral will be Saturday, August 11 at 2:30 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church on Todd Road in Greenville, Ga. with Rev. E. J. O'Neal officiating, assisted by the Rev. Mapp. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Edward Beamon Hunter Sr., 71, of Newnan, died August 5, 2001.
Mr. Hunter was born June 24, 1929 to the late Mrs. Velma Smith and the late Mr. Charlie Noah Hunter. He was raised by a great step-father, Mr. Floyd Smith. He attended the Forksville Elementary School and later attended the Savannah Street School.
He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 16, after which he was employed by the D&L Company until retirement.
He joined the Zion Hill Baptist Church at an early age. He married the former Miss Mary Frances Elliott and they had six children.
A funeral will be Wednesday, August 8 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Vernon First Baptist Church. The Rev. J. T. Coleman will be eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Melvin Brittian, the Rev. R. W. Mr. Joseph Andrew Palko
Mr. Joseph Andrew Palko, 85, died August 6, 2001 at LaGrange Hospice.
Mr. Palko was Born September 6, 1915 in New Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a son of the late John Palko and Anna Wargo Palko. He was a 1934 graduate of Blythe Township High School in the same town.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific. He participated in the invasion of Iwo Jima.
Sears Roebuck & Company employed him for 43 years, starting in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. He was transferred to Wilmington, Delaware as merchandise manager and was store manager in Oneonta, New York and Augusta, Maine where he retired in 1980. He moved back to Pennsylvania in 1985 where he was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Orwigsburg. In 2001 he moved to Newnan, Ga. where he joined St. George's Roman Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Mack, Anna Schelder and Sylvia Glackin and by two brothers, Michael and John.
Surviving are his wife, the former Carmella Evolo to whom he was married for 60 years, and by his daughter Joanne Palko Bach, nieces and nephews.
His family has asked that instead of flowers, donations be made to St. Joseph's Church Memorial Fund, Pottsville, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Pete Singleton Leach
Mr. Pete Singleton Leach, 91, of Byron, Ga., died August 6, 2001.
A native of Coweta County, Ga., Mr. Leach received his high school diploma from Newnan High School, a bachelor's degree in engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology, and a master's degree in mathematics from the University of Illinois. He was an assistant professor of engineering at the Middle Georgia College in Cochran, Ga., prior to joining Consolidated Textile Company in Lynchburg, Virginia, as an industrial engineer. After leaving Consolidated Textile Company, he joined Dan River Inc. in Danville, Virginia and worked there until he retired as an executive assistant to the president in charge of the Alabama divisions. While working for both textile companies he found time in his busy life to continue his love of teaching mathematics by serving as an adjunct professor at the Universities of Virginia, Auburn and Alabama.
During World War II he served his country as a conciliator with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service in Washington, D. C. where he conciliated technical labor disputes between management and labor.
After retirement in 1975 he joined the International Executive Service Corps of New York City. His consulting assignments carried him and his wife, Myrtle Leach, all over the world to such places as the Philippines, Greece, Kenya and Malaysia.
He has served as president of the Rotary Club of Wetumpka, Alabama; president of the Fort Valley Country Club of Fort Valley, Georgia; president of the Lion's Club of Byron, Ga.; and chairman of the finance committee of the Byron United Methodist Church. Additionally, during his life he was an active member of various clubs including the Elks Club, Moose Club, Textile Quality Control Association (charter member), Southern Textile Association, the Society for the Advancement of Management of New York City, the Alabama Textile Manufacturer's Association.
Since retirement, he has been very active in the Middle Georgia and the Central Georgia Golf Associations.
A funeral service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 8 at Bryon United Methodist Church. A service will also be held at graveside at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 9 at Byron City Cemetery. The Rev. Sam Lambach will officiate.
Surviving are his wife, Myrtle G. Leach of Byron; son, Dr. Jerry W. Leach, Reston, Va.; daughters, Dr. Betty L. Mrs. Gladys Elmgren Locke, 81, of Columbus, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus.
Mrs. Locke was born Dec. 7, 1919 in Atlanta. She had lived in Columbus since 1934, and retired after 43 years as an executive secretary with the W.C. Bradley Company. She was a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, Jack M. Locke.

Mr. Richard "Dick" Talmadge Moses, Jr., 81, of Turin, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Piedmont Hospital.
Mr. Moses was born Aug. 25, 1919 in Turin. He served in the U.S. Navy, and was a retired analyst for Lockheed Martin. He was a member of Turin Baptist Church.

Mrs. Elsie Lucille Richardson, 79, of Newnan, died at home Saturday, August 4, 2001.
Mrs. Richardson was born to Rev. Jackson Wesley Cleveland Cook and Mrs. Ruth Windom Cook in Carroll County on May 10, 1922.
Mrs. Richardson married Belton Earnest Richardson on April 3, 1943. She was a member of East Newnan Baptist Church. She was retired from Playtex Corporation.
Mrs. Richardson is survived by her husband; a son, Willard Richardson of Newnan; a daughter, Darthy Lucille Carter of Griffin; a brother, Jack Cook Jr. of Carrollton; two sisters, Jimmy Lou Cosby and Lois Cook Gentry, both of Carrollton; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Beasley was born January 9, 1927 to the late Dow Euclid and Salone Tucker in Cooksville, Ga. She joined Bethel Heard Baptist Church at an early age, and later in life joined Heard Wesley United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Beasley was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Tucker; and one sister, Virginia Terrell.

Mr. Johnny Robert "Bobby" Estep of Welcome-Arnco Road, Newnan, died July 29, 2001 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Mr. Estep was born July 22, 1936, in Newnan. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran and was a retired employee of the Fort James Corporation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Clyde Shoemake Estep, and a sister, Joyce Estep Lamb.
A funeral was held at McKoon Funeral Home Tuesday, July 31, at 4 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Estep; sons, Randy Estep and Robert Estep; grandchildren, Pamela Bishop, Josh Estep, Robbie Estep, Haylie Estep; great-grandchild, Kane Bishop.

Mr. Robert Engram Fokes Jr.
Mr. Robert Engram Fokes Jr., M.D., 83, of Moultrie, Ga., died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Ga.
Dr. Fokes was born Feb. 7, 1918, in Macon, Ga., to the late Robert Engram Fokes and Ruby Lewis Fokes of Montezuma, Ga., where he grew up. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia, where he was a member of Phi Rho Sigma Medical fraternity. He completed his medical internship at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps Medical Corps., attaining the rank of Captain.
After attending the Residency program in ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Dr. Fokes and his family moved to Moultrie, where he began his medical practice in 1947 -- a practice he continued for nearly 40 years. During that time, he served on the medical staffs of both Vereen Memorial Hospital and Colquitt Regional Medical Center, serving terms as chief of staff at both hospitals. He received citations from the Lions Club for his dedicated service to the Lighthouse for the Blind. Dr. Fokes was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He was a Life Fellow of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology. He was a patron of Ducks Unlimited and a member of the Moultrie Gun Club. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and a long time member of Sunset Country Club. He was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church. Dr. Fokes was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dorothy Fokes Zahra Walker of Jacksonville, Fla.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4, at 4 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. Dr. Fokes is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine Romanz Cook Fokes; three daughters, Mildred "Bunny" Fokes Godard (John), Sally Fokes Jones (Tim), and Lucy Fokes Link (Fred); eight grandchildren, John E. "Ellis" Godard, Jr. (Kristen), Robert R. "Bob" Aderhold, M.D., Robert F. "Bob" Godard (Robin), Catherine G. "Kate" Aderhold, F. Fokes Link; one great-granddaughter, Suzanne Godard; his brother, Jack Lewis Fokes (Betty), of Montezuma; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mr. James Roger Hammond Sr.
Mr. James Roger Hammond Sr., 68, of Lakeland Drive, Conway, S.C., died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Healthsouth Rehab. Hospital of Florence, S.C.
Mr. Hammond was born in Newnan, Ga., a son of the late Jack Vester and Ruby Merk Hammond. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Conway. Mr. Hammond retired as a teacher from the Horry County (South Carolina) Schools and also retired as Director of the City of Conway Recreation Department. He graduated from Clemson University and was the IPTAY Representative for Horry County.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Lakeside Cemetery with the Rev. Rocky Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence of his son, Jimmy Hammond, 1515 Churchill Drive, until the hour of services. Mrs. Ethel Hedrick
Mrs. Ethel George Waller Hedrick, 97, of 316 W. Society Ave., Albany died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at her residence.
A native of Carroll County, Mrs. Hedrick had resided in Albany since 1946, moving from Newnan. She was the widow of Harvey Harrison Hedrick.
She was the president of Eugene Waller, Inc., where she was an antique dealer and decorator. She was a former president of the Georgia Women's Golf Association and a former Albany Ladies Golf Champion. She was a member of St. Patrick's Episcopal Church.
A graveside service was held at Monday, June 25, at Roanoke City Cemetery in Roanoke, Ala., with the Rev. Patricia Peets officiating.
Survivors include a son, Richard Waller of Albany; stepsons, Frank Hedrick of Albany, Dermont Hedrick of Albany, H. H. (June) Hedrick, Jr. of Atlanta; stepdaughers, Ruth Reese of London, Ky., Sara Moore of Yuma, Ariz.; and step-grandchildren.

Mrs. Inez Hodo
Mrs. Inez Brooks Hodo, 75, of Newnan died July 28, 2001, at Newnan Hospital.
Mrs. Hodo was born Oct. 10, 1925, to the late John and Lula Brooks in Coweta County. She joined the Old Mt. Bethlehem Baptist Church at an early age where she served faithfully on the Mother Board and senior choir.
She worked at PAPP clinic in Newnan until her health failed.
She was the widow of Edward H. Hodo. Mrs. Hodo was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Steveson and Mrs. Willie Mae Kirkland.
The funeral service was Aug. 1, 2001 at Old Mt. Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Coleman eulogizing. Interment followed at the church cemetery.

Mr. Robert Lee Berry, 48, of Holly Tree Road in Carrollton, formerly of Newnan, died July 30, 2001 at Portsbridge Hospice in Riverdale.
Mr. Berry was born April 14, 1953, in Carroll County to the late William B. Berry and Eva Louise Berry Spradlin. Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his father, his wife Pamela Deputy Berry and an infant brother Randy Berry.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted today, Aug. 1, 2001, at 5 p.m. at Whitesburg Cemetery with Rev. Lance Snipes officiating. Pallbearers will be James Haynes, Allen Payton, Patrick, Mike Dunn, Roman Ratcliff and Harold Davis.

Bryant Budd, 21, of South Shore Drive, Newnan died April 1, 1999 in Troup County.
Mr. Budd was born Feb. 2, 1978, in Fulton County, to Warren and Courtenay Budd. Mr. Budd was a sophomore at Emory University in Atlanta, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
The funeral service will take place at Cornerstone United Methodist Church today, Aug. 1, 2001, beginning at 2 p.m. Dr. David Campbell, Rev. Edward Nelson, Dr. James Heidinger and Rev. James A. Budd will officiate.
