Robert Stevens
Robert L. Stevens of Brunswick died Aug. 11, 2005 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Folkston.
Mr. Stevens was a graduate of Risley High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Band of Inspiration Deliverance Temple with Pastor Iris Wright and the Rev. Harold Gamble officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Al Patterson, Reginald Stevens, Charles Stevens, Henry Stevens Jr., Will Friend and Rodney Jackson.
Mr. Stevens' body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
Survivors include one daughter, Kadera Perry of Jacksonville; his mother, Annie Ruth Stevens of Brunswick; four sisters, Henrietta Piland of Fredericksburg, Va., Patricia Tolliver of Jacksonville and Gloria Simmons and Diane Stevens, both of Brunswick; three brothers, Henry Stevens Jr., Charles Stevens and Reginald Stevens, all of Brunswick; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

Mary Ellen McDougall Hall, 78, of Brunswick died Thursday at her daughter's home in Hinesville.
Mrs. Hall was an emeritus member and past Marshal of the Marshes of Glynn Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 243 in Brunswick and a member of the Woman's Club of Brunswick, having served as the art department chair on the local and district levels. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brunswick. Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Thomas Hall Jr.
The funeral will be held at noon Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church of Brunswick with the Rev. Greg Garis and the Rev. Dr. Tom Mueller officiating.
Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville.
Pallbearers will be Tom Hall, Bo Dyess, Travis Beasley, Larry Bryant and Robert Osborne.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Marshes of Glynn Order of the Eastern Star No. 243 and the Woman's Club of Brunswick.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel in Hinesville.
Survivors include a son, Albert Thomas Hall III of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Sharon Dyess of Hinesville; and three grandchildren.

Marcia Lynn Gratz Jackson, 43, a resident of Brunswick, died Thursday in Lake City, Fla., from injuries in an automobile accident.
Marcia was a native of Illinois and had been a resident of Brunswick since 1996. She was a graduate of Spring Stead High School in Spring Hill, Fla., and had been employed with Nightingale Law Firm and a legal secretary for eight years.
Survivors are her son, Joshua Jackson of Brunswick; mother, Elenor Gratz of Brooksville, Fla.; two sisters, Linda Gelling of New Port Richey, Fla., and Lucy Hobbs of Brooksville, Fla.; a brother, Gary Gratz of Nashua, N.H.; her fiancé, Kit Mashburn; eight nieces and nephews, and seven great nieces and nephews.
A memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Evangelist Roy Bumbash and Priest Bill Costa officiating.

Edward "Rip" Benton of St. Simons Island succumbed to cancer on Monday, August 5 at the Hospice of the Golden Isles.
Services will be Friday, August 9 at 10 a.m. at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick with the Rev. J. Hunter Coleman of the First Presbyterian Church, Highlands, N.C., officiating. Burial will follow at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens on St. Simons Island.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 8 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Benton, Michael Benton, Roman Chanclor, John Barrow, Dan Goad, Frank Grashuis, Mel Bellwood and Allan Schultz.
Honorary pallbearers are Cephus Walker, Toby Perkins, Donnie Benton, Paul Stocker, Robert Armstrong, Michael Anderson and Dr. William E. Haley.
Rip is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Kim Stocker of Northampton, Pa., Stephen Benton of St. Simons Island, Kathy Rafolski of Asheville, N.C., and Michael Benton of Mt. Olive, N.C.; a brother, S.D. "Donnie" Benton of Brunswick; and grandchildren, Dallas and Roman Chanclor of Northampton, Amy Benton of Chesapeake, Va., and Mitchell Benton of Brunswick.
Rip was born in Smyrna, Ga., on April 13, 1935, to Bessie Ivy Hudson and Sydney Lovelace Benton. The family moved to St. Simons Island in 1948. Rip attended Glynn Academy and the Georgia Institute of Technology. He served in the Georgia Air National Guard while employed by Southern Bell for a number of years.
Rip became well known as a restaurateur and was involved in the hospitality industry and historical restoration/preservation. In this capacity, he established and operated Blanche's Courtyard Restaurant from 1974 until 2000. He also restored and operated the Old Edwards Inn and the Highlands Inn in Highlands, and most recently The Hedges, an Adirondack Great Camp in Blue Mountain Lake, N.Y.
Rip was baptized in the First Baptist Church of St. Simons Island.
Special appreciation and thanks are offered to the dedicated men and women of Coastal Cardiology, Southeast Georgia Hematology and Oncology Associates and Hospice of the Golden Isles.

A native of Atlanta, Mrs. Verdery had lived on St. Simons Island for five years. She was a member of the Peachtree Road Methodist Church in Atlanta.

Mr. Reynolds was a native of Arkansas and served in the U.S. Air Force. He had made his home on St. Simons Island since 1986, moving from Wood River, Illinois. Mr. Reynolds owned and operated Island Automotive. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
