Will Henry Roberts, 74, of Monroe died Dec. 6, 2005. A native of Walton County, he was a son of the late Roy Lee Roberts and Willie Lee Aaron Roberts. Retired from the Monroe-Walton Mill, he was a veteran of the Korean War. Funeral services were held December 8, 2005 in the chapel of Arthur Bowick Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Malcom officiated and interment was in Hill Haven Memory Gardens.

Coleman Howard Couch, 76 of Monroe died November 30, 2005. He was born on June 7, 1929 in Walton County. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the late Barbara Couch and brother, the late Buren Couch. Surviving are wife: Carolyn Couch of Monroe; step-daughter: Lynn Walraven of Loganville; step-son: Jeremy Walden of Monroe; sister and brother-in-law: Esther and Johnny McEachern of Monroe; sister-in-law: Sue Couch of Social Circle; nephews: Warren Epperson, Kenneth Epperson, Ronald Epperson, Benjamin Couch; nieces: Scarlett Kitchens, Marsha Millians, Lucinda Wright, Tammy Forrester, and Debbie Day.

Florence W. Still, 97 of Loganville died Tuesday, December 6, 2005. A member of Corinth Christian Church, Loganville, Mrs. Still was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey B. Still, a son and two grandsons. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Neelia and Bill Hall, Grayson; Peggie and Jack Johnson, Lawrenceville; brothers: Hugh M. Wiley, Robert L. Wiley, both of Lula; grandchildren: Michael E. Johnson, Sabrina Harris, Keith Still, Pepper Christie, David Hall; fourteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Ruben John Morman, 89 of Monroe, died on Saturday, December 3, 2005. He was born in Effingham, Ill. on February 11, 1916. He is a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Oak Road Lutheran Church in Snellville. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Elma Elizabeth and his parents, the late John Morman and the late Anna Morman, and four sisters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Coleman Pannell. Surviving are daughter and son-in law: Deborah and Mike Cash of Monroe; son and daughter-in-law: Alan and Darlene Pannell of Monroe; brother: Jim O’Shields of Ohio; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

John Hanson officiating. Interment followed at Clegg Family Cemetery.

He was a member of Bible Baptist Church. Funeral services were held December 2, in Bible Baptist Church. The Rev. Greg Butler and The Rev. Tim Butler officiated and interment was in Rest Haven Cemetery.

William Randolph Liles
William Randolph Liles, born May 30, 1922 in Pierce County, Georgia, departed this life on November 15, 2005. After a distinguished military career in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, Mr. Liles retired to Monroe, where he was a plant manager for fifteen years at TomCo. He was a member of the American Legion Post 64 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4421 and a charter member of Nathan Bedford Forrest Greys Camp 1656 Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Mary L. Partain, 89 of Monroe died November 27, 2005. A native of Walton County, she was a daughter of the late James Guy McKissick and Susie Johnson McKissick. The widow of Albert F. Partain, she was a homemaker and a member of Campton United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held Nov. 29 in Campton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Geoff Grubbs and The Rev. James Vaughn officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.

Bethel Marie Doss, 73 of Edgewood Dr. passed away November 18, 2005. A native of Hall County, Mrs. Doss was the daughter of the late William Truman and Clara Mae Wood Casper. An avid bowler, Mrs. Doss was a member of the North East Georgia Ladies Bowling Hall of Fame and was a prominent Avon representative in the Athens area for over 25 years. She as a homemaker, member of the Athens Moose Lodge Chapter 1406 and a member of the Oconee Baptist Church.

Tanner, all of Monroe; grandchildren: Emily Tanner; Meredith Tanner, Natalie Tanner, all of Monroe.

Allen loved the Lord and enjoyed reading and studying His word. He strived to bring glory to Him daily. Allen was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He cherished family time. He loved watching his son perform with the George Walton Academy marching band and his daughter play the piano. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerome Cox.

The widow of Foster Stark, she was retired from the Monroe-Walton Mill and was a former employee of Carwood Mfg. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Orene G. White, 90 of Loganville died December 20, 2005. A native of Walton County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Lant Guntrie, Sr. and Lucy Still Guthrie. The widow of Clarence E. White, she was a homemaker and was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Dec. 22 in Sharon Baptist Church. The Rev. Glenn Stephens and The Rev. Horace Parr officiated and interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Leonard Greene, Jeff Guthrie, Dennis Perry, Justin Starrett, Tony Greene and Gary Greene.

Jeanne Early Holden
Jeanne E. Holden, 74 of Monroe passed away quietly in the early morning hours Monday, December 19. 2005. A citizen of Monroe since 1974, Jeanne worked in the purchasing department of the Walton County Hospital, retiring in 1996 after 18 years of employment. Before suffering from declining health, Jeanne was an active member of the Ladies Golf Association of Monroe at the Monroe Golf & County Club. She had an accomplished history of painting in oils and watercolors, playing the piano and doing puzzles and word games. She loved Bingo, playing lottery and digging in the dirt.

Surviving are daughters: Frances Skelton Stewart of Loganville, Nancy Skelton Anderson of Social Circle, and Becky Skelton Barham of Snellville; son: Jim Skelton of Savannah; sister: Ruth Layson of Covington; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Mary Richardson Broach of Monroe, Georgia, 100, died on Monday, Dec. 12, 2005 at the Walton County Hospital. Mary or Nanny as she was affectionately called by her family and friends was born on Aug. 5, 1905 in Walton County where she was a descendent of several of the pioneering families of the County. Her parents were the late Lon L. Richardson and Nancy Malcom Richardson. Her grandparents were the late John W. Richardson and Elizabeth Shouse and George W. Malcom and Mary Jane Broach. She was one of ten children.

Paul Mercer Cousins, Jr. of Decatur, died peacefully in his sleep at home on Monday, December 12, 2005, from complications of multiple mycloma. The body was cremated. Paul was born in Rome, Ga. on December 23, 1931 to Marjorie Nowell Cousins and Paul Mercer Cousins. He was a graduate of the Darlington School and Emory University, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Phi Beta Kappa.
