Mrs. Jewel C. Radcliff
Mrs. Jewel Chance Radcliff, 74, of 501 Church St., Waynesboro, entered into rest Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital, Augusta. Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. G. Al Wright officiating. Interment followed at Little Horse Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Woodcliffe. Mrs. Radcliff was born in Screven County, but lived all of her adult life in Waynesboro. She had retired from Southern Bell with 34 years of service. Mrs. Radcliff was Baptist and a member of Botsford Baptist Church, but also attended First Baptist Church in Waynesboro. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Radcliff Sr. of Waynesboro; a son, Byron Eugene Quick III of Waynesboro; two stepsons, Thomas (Evonne) Radcliff Jr. of Gray and Bruce Radcliff of Missouri; and two sisters, Bertha Giddens of Statesboro and Willie Frances Robinson of Waynesboro.
Thomas Gravitt
Thomas “Tommy” Devin Gravitt, born Aug. 30, 2003, entered into rest Sept. 26, 2003.
Graveside services will be held today (Wednesday, Oct. 1), at noon at Sardis Baptist Cemetery. Survivors include his parents, Tabitha M. Johnson and Thomas E. Gravitt Jr.; a sister, Hailie E. Gravitt; a brother, Jonathan S. Braxton; maternal grandparents, Valarie Jenkins Fisher and Eddie Johnson, both of Sardis; and paternal grandparents, Lorrie Ann Evans of LaGrange and Thomas Gravitt Sr. of Newnan.
Mrs. Emily "Lou" Applewhite Daniel
Mrs. Emily “Lou” Applewhite Daniel entered into rest Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at the age of 92. Graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 4, at the family cemetery on Applewhite Plantation, with the Rev. Robert C. Daniel officiating.
Mrs. Daniel was a lifelong resident of Burke County and part owner of Applewhite Plantation. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Beginner Sunday School Class of preschool 4 and 5-year-old children for over 30 years. Mrs. Daniel was also a member of the Waynesboro Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Carlton Daniel Sr. and loving daughter, Sara Ann Daniel Shapard. Survivors include a son, Henry Carlton Daniel Jr. of Waynesboro; a daughter, Billie Daniel Parker of Smyrna; four grandchildren, Emily Daniel Shapard King, Sally Ann Shapard Peek, William Henry Shapard Jr. and Michael Bird Parker Jr.; and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dr. Shelley Griffin, Frank Griffin, William Oppenheimer, Don King, Eddie Oppenheimer, Michael B. Parker, William Shapard Jr. and Mark Peek. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Preschool 4 and 5 year old Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, 853 N. Liberty St., Waynesboro, Ga. 30830.
Mr. Mitclell Fleming
Funeral services for Mr. Mitchell Fleming were held Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at 2 p.m., at Phinazee and Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Willie J. Jackson Jr. officiating. Interment was in Pines Cemetery. Mr. Fleming attended school in the Burke County Public School System. Later in life he moved to Savannah, Ga.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted friend, Cheryl Butler; a son, Mitchell Fleming; a granddaughter, Michela Fleming; four stepchildren, Naimah Faison, Marnisha McKenzie, Gregory L. Peters Jr. and Teun D.L. Peters; his mother, Lola Fleming of Waynesboro; a sister, Lacy Anderson of Waynesboro; and six brothers, Johnny (Hattie) File of Cedarville, N.J., Isiah Fleming, Ingustas Fleming, Nash Fleming and Carl Fleming, all of Waynesboro, and Ran-dolph Fleming of Augusta.

Robert Lee Williams
Robert Lee Williams, infant son of Robert Allen Williams Jr. and Princess Ann Wilkinson, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Memorial Health.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m., at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jimmy Allen officiating. Interment was in Turkey Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Additional survivors include his brother, John Luke Gomez of Waynesboro; maternal grandparents, Edwin and Leslie Wilkinson of Guyton and Billy and LeAnn Davis of Pooler; paternal grandparents, Alice Faye Thomas of Waynesboro and the late Robert Allen Williams; great-grandparents, Evelyn Wilkinson of Guyton and the late L.A. Wilkinson Jr., the late Margie and Robert Williams, Ray and Brenda Caraway of Guyton, and the late Carol Caraway; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Mr. Harold Arthur Smith
Mr. Harold Arthur Smith, 61, of Hephzibah-McBean Road, entered into rest on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at his residence. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 3, at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Joey Grizzle officiating. Interment was in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Burke County and a member of Rosemont Heights Baptist Church. He was employed by Rental Service Corp. as an office clerk.
Survivors include his sister, Kathleen Holland of Waynes-boro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ethel M. Wesby
Mrs. Ethel M. Wesby of Ben Hatcher Road, entered into rest on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at University Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at 2 p.m., at Allen Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Byron Williams officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Wesby was a member of Allen Chapel Baptist Church, where she served as the Church Missionary, a member of the Thomas Walker Club and a member of the Acie Brown Senior Choir and Willing Workers Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Charlie Wesby Sr. and five of their children.
Mrs. Wesby leaves to cherish her precious memories, seven sons, Eddie, Forace and Horace (Mary), all of Waynesboro, Steve (Virginia) of Bridgeton, N.J., Johnny (Ann) of Millville, N.J., Donald (Donna) of Aiken, S.C. and Tyrone (Susie) of Augusta; six daughters, Rosa Johnson, Marilean Wesby and Martha A. Scott, all of Waynesboro, Louise (Charles) Edwards, both of Augusta; two sisters, Lottie Cunningham and Luecinda Martin; one brother, Roosevelt Bush Sr.; 67 grandchildren; 107 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Idelle Atkinson Martin Mims, 88, of Waynesboro,
entered into rest Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 at University Hospital. Funeral services were held 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, at First Baptist Church, Waynes-boro, with the Rev. Henry Erwin officiating. Interment was in Burke Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Mims was the former part owner and operator of the White Way Cafe in Waynesboro and the Paradise Restaurant in Cooperville, Ga. Before her retirement she was also a sales clerk at Dolins Department Store in Waynesboro. Mrs. Mims was a member of the Eastern Star, Ladies Shrine Auxilary, White Columns Woman’s Club, Town and Country Woman’s Club, Burke Homemakers Club and Club of Little Gardens and First Baptist Church of Waynesboro. She was the wife of the late James Martin and L.D. Mims. Mrs. Mims was also preceded in death by her daughter, Caliope Martin Reeves; a sister, Sydney A. Quick; and a brother, Harry Atkinson.
Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Swift of Canton, Ga.; three sisters, Odessa Hylton of Reno, Nev., Corrine Few of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Lillian Reeves of Marietta, Ga.; three brothers, James Atkinson of Doraville, Ga., William H. Atkinson of Senoia, Ga. and Ethan Alan Atkinson Jr. of Bradenton, Fla.; five grandchildren, James R. Reeves and Deborah R. Ide, both of Midville, Roy Reynolds, Leslie R. Bland and Renee Reynolds, all of Canton; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica I. Brantley of Waynesboro, Shane Ide, Caliope Ide and Katie Reeves, all of Midville, Megan Reynolds, McKenzie Reynolds and Hunter Bland, all of Canton; a great-great-grandson, Joshua D. Mr. William (BI) J. Reddick, 57,
of Brentwood Drive, Waynesboro, entered into rest Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003 at Burke Medical Center. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Joe Wood officiating. Burial was in Sardis Baptist Cemetery, Sardis, Ga. Mr. Reddick was a native of Sardis, the son of the late William (Tad) and Minnie Reddick and brother of the late Sidney Reddick. He was a Baptist and lifelong resident of Burke County. Survivors include three sisters, Rita Reddick Posey of Waynesboro, Betty Ann Alexander of Goose Creek, S.C. and Marie F. Hammock of Hagan, Ga. Pallbearers were Hubert Reddick, Cleckly Reddick, Robert Grady Reddick, Glenn Widner, Charles McElroy, Frankie Parker, Larry Buxton and Frankie Morris.
Miss Crystal Lee Green, 24,
of Pauls Valley, Okla., died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Higher Ground Church, with Pastor Joel Downing officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Miss Green, a native of Pauls Valley, was a 1997 graduate of Pauls Valley High School and attended college at the UCO and also modeling school. She was a furniture salesperson at Green’s Furniture. Miss Green was a member of Higher Ground Church. She was preceded in death by her brother, Chris Green of Wynnewood, Okla.
Survivors include her parents, Donnie and Laquita Green of Pauls Valley; two brothers, Mitch Green of Waynesboro and Colby Green of Pauls Valley; two sisters, Michele Green Daniel of Waynesboro and Shawna Green of Pauls Valley; grandparents, Vernie Green of Wynnewood and the late Garfield Green, and Pauline Morgan of Pauls Valley and the late Ted Walker; two nephews, Tyson Brown and Corben Green, both of Pauls Valley; two nieces, Ashlee Lynn Daniel and Kaylee Lynn Daniel, both of Waynesboro.

Mrs. Candacey B. Neely, 77,
of Waynesboro, entered into rest Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at Burke Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17, at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Bill King officiating followed by interment at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Alexander. Mrs. Neely was a lifelong resident of Burke County. She was the daughter of the late John Baxley and Minnie Heath Baxley.
Survivors include a son, Otis Phillip Neely of Waynesboro; a daughter, Patti DeLaigle of Waynesboro; a brother, Walter Baxley; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Smith, Beth Lowe, Wendy Kitchens, Lynn Strick-land, Cynthia Mann, Melissa (Michael) Bradley, Brad DeLaigle and Gabrielle Neely; and 10 great-grandchildren. Miss Natalie L. Clark, 18,

Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Sardis Baptist Cemetery with the Revs. David Shelton, Marion Jay and John Rabon officiating.
Miss Clark was a freshman at Augusta State University and a 2003 graduate of Hephzibah High School and a member of Miracle Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, James D. Clark Jr. Survivors include her mother, Louise Neville of Hephzibah; her father Jimmy Neville Sr. of Hephzibah; two brothers, Andy (Julie) Johnson of Augusta and Tony Johnson of Alabama; three stepbrothers, Todd Neville, Mark Neville and Jimmy Neville Jr., all of Hephzibah; a stepsister, Lynn Neville of Hephzibah; and grandparents, John and Mary Gacovsky of Sardis. Mrs. Annie Louise Royal Sanders, 68,

Mrs. Sanders was a native of Effingham County, the daughter of the late Schwartz Royal and Eloise Glisson Royal. She was a retired personal care home owner. Mrs. Sanders was Baptist by faith and lived most of her adult life in Richmond County. She was preceded in death by her daugther, Betty Jo Williams; three brothers Bill Royal, Ludine Royal and Gene Royal; and a sister, Glenda Hobbs. Survivors include her three sons, Ricky D. Williams of Denver, Colo., Bobby Gene Sanders of Washington and Michael Sanders of Augusta; a daughter, Cynthia Stephens of Thomas-ville; two brothers, Jimmy Royal of Girard and James “Pete” Royal of Wrens; four sisters, Earline Tucker of Waynesboro, Faye Pleasants of Millen; Linda Cheeks of Wrens and Virginia Wegmann of Port Wentworth; a friend, Broadus McMillan of Augusta; eight grandchildren, Brian Gerrald, Jonathan Stephens, Marc Stephens, Shalyn Williams, Rebecca Sanders, Spanky Sanders, Dehia Cochran and Robert Hymel; and nine great-grandchildren.
