The funeral for Raymond McCloud of Brunswick will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Andrews C.M.E. Church with the Rev. Dr. Leroy E. Dumas officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. McCloud died Thursday at the local hospital.
His grandchildren will be pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, Joe Fussell, James Eppings Jr., Clarence Chapman, Jesse Merrell, Willard Foston, Dorothy Cauley, Sarah Mae Singleton, and Dr. Marsha Certain and staff.
The body will be placed in the church one hour before the funeral. The procession will leave from 7912 New Jesup Hwy.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Sunday at Brunswick Funeral Home.
Surviving are his wife, Essie G. McCloud of Brunswick; two sons, Thomas McCloud and Lorenzo McCloud, both of Brunswick; two daughters, Annie Lee McCloud of Eastman and Cynthia McCloud Lattany of Brunswick; a sister, Annie Mae Mathis of Brunswick; 11 grandchildren; great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Mr. McCloud was employed by Hercules Inc. for 40 years in various capacities, retiring as a maintenance worker.
Mr. McCloud was a member of St. Andrews C.M.E. Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, prayer band leader, chairman of the steward board and class leader, treasurer of the church and custodian.

Floyd Brantley

Floyd Leo Brantley, 66, of Brunswick died Monday at his home.
Born in Augusta, Mr. Brantley had made his home in Brunswick for more than 60 years. As a teenager, he was one of the first lifeguards on Jekyll Island. He was a graduate of Glynn Academy and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Brantley owned Dogwood Kennels in Brunswick. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Ward Foundation.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Liam Collins officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mark's Columbarium.
Surviving are his wife, Carla Brantley of Brunswick; a son, Dade Brantley of Brunswick; two daughters, Christine Brantley of Brunswick and Dana Greene of Texas; two sisters, Shirley Laird of Oregon and Connie Eilander of Virginia Beach, Va.; and four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church.

Mr. Claude Baxter "Captain Crunch" Sawyer, 45, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at his residence.
A native of Darien, Mr. Sawyer was an employee of Valona Seafood and worked as a commercial fisherman.
Family members include a loving companion, Teri Zorn of Darien; his parents, Reginald and Betty Sawyer of Valona, Ga.; three children, Carlton Sawyer, Kyle Sawyer and Amanda Shields, all of Darien; one sister, Jimmie Ann Horne (Dale) of Ludowici, Ga.; four brothers, Reggie Sawyer (Barbara) of Darien, Ga.; Michael Sawyer of Redding, Calif., Tony Sawyer (Connie) of Apalachicola, Fla., and Forrest Sawyer (Angie) of Brunswick, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 15, 2006, from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2006, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mark Linton officiating.

Lyle R. Mercer, 92, formerly of St. Simons Island, died Monday in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a master's degree in industrial engineering, he later worked for ALCOA for 33 years, serving as an industrial engineer, involving personnel administration, labor relations and public and government relations. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Burning Tree Club, Kenwood Golf and Country Club, Columbia Country Club and Sea Island Golf Club. He was also a member of the Metropolitan Memorial Methodist Church in Washington, D.C.
Funeral services were to be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Joseph Gawler's in Bethesda, Md.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Kinley Mercer of Hilton Head, S.C.; a daughter, Carolyn M. Sipe; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, 119 Palmetto Way, Bluffton, SC 29910.

Marilynn M. Irwin, 61, passed away Monday, June 12, 2006, in Jacksonville.
A native of Newark, N.Y., she resided in Springfield, Va., before returning to Jacksonville to live in 1997. Mrs. Irwin was a member of the Arlington Congregational Church.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, James S. Irwin; mother, Madelin E. Martin; a daughter, Marcy Collins; three sons, Jeffrey Irwin, James S. Irwin III and Scott W. Irwin; her sister, Carol Brickle; eight grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Arlington Congregational Church with the Rev. Bruce A. Havens officiating.

Mr. John David "Johnny" Smith, 58, died on Monday, June 19, 2006, at the Brunswick hospital of the Southeast Georgia Health System.
Mr. Smith was a resident of Brunswick for 40 years. He was self-employed as a general contractor in the wallpaper business. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Rose M. Smith of Brunswick; one daughter, Susan Houser of Jacksonville; one granddaughter, Kaylei Houser and one grandson Austin Houser, both of Jacksonville; his father, Roy C. Smith of Brunswick; one brother, Billy Joe Smith of Brunswick; and two sisters, Mary Manning and Angie Howell, both of Brunswick; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2006, at the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Emory Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Brantley County.
