Claudia Mae Billue Miller, 74, of Brunswick died June 28 at the Brunswick hospital of the Southeast Georgia Health System.
A native of Laurens County, she was a retired janitorial worker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ in Brunswick with the Rev. Will MaHue officiating.
Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Gibson, Larry Billue, Kwaney Barber, William Lewis, Kendal Bens and Alfonzo Moses.
Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Etheredge of Brunswick; brother, Jimmie L. Billue of Brunswick; a sister, Classie Kaigler of Brunswick; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Edna Smith Holland of Brunswick died Tuesday in Sears Manor Nursing Home.
A native of Dodge County, she had lived in Glynn County for the past 14 years. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church, a retired nurse for the Dodge County Health Department and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jessie W. Holland.
Graveside services were to be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Plainfield Cemetery in Dodge County with elders Willie Hatfield and Marty Hoskins officiating.
Survivors include her daughter, Catherine Holland of Brunswick; and several nieces and nephews.

John Henry Sharpe, 90, of Brunswick died Sunday at Hospice of the Golden Isles.
A native of Toombs County, he was a retired truck driver.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Prudence Hall Chapel of Hall, Jones & Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Abram F. Brown Sr. officiating.
Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Survivors include two sons, Dwayne Sharpe and Arthur Sharpe, both of Brunswick; four daughters, Gladys Demery of Brunswick, Barbara Sharpe of Newark, N.J., Delores Sharpe of Brooksville, Fla., and Betty J. Smith of Gary, Ind.; a sister, Gladys Ogden of Buffalo, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ethel Moore of Brunswick died at the Brunswick hospital of the Southeast Georgia Health System.
A native of Glynn County, she was educated in the local school system.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Good Sheppard Church in the Sterling Community with the Rev. John Buntin officiating.
Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.
Survivors include her four children, Lawton Moore and Walter Moore, both of Brunswick, Willie Moore of Kansas and Charles Moore of S.C.

Patricia Ann "Trisha" Edenfield, 39, of Glynn County died Tuesday at her residence.
A native of Glynn County, she had spent most of her life in this area. She was a 1985 graduate of Brunswick High School and had been employed for 20 years by Harper's - Burgess Seafood.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
Survivors include her parents, Robert and Deborah Edenfield of Brunswick; a sister, Becky Edenfield of Brunswick; a brother, Robert Edenfield of Atlanta; maternal grandparents, Mary Burgess and Willard and Anne Burgess, all of Brunswick; paternal grandmother, Roberta Edenfield of Brunswick; and a host of other relatives.

Robert D. Gordon of Brunswick died after a short illness at Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Fla.
He was retired from Glynco Naval Base, formerly located in Brunswick. He was a member of The Way of The Cross Church.
He is survived by his wife, Villa Mae Gordon of Brunswick; two sons and daughters in-law, William and Elaine Gordon and Russell and Cheryl Gordon, all of Brunswick; two daughters and sons in-law, Barbara and Herman Poppell of Brunswick and Alice Faye and Yoyo Arguello of Jonesboro; four granddaughters, Christy Gordon Lewis, Angie Saunders, Stephanie Moreno and Charity Poppell; three grandsons, Troy "Bubba" Smith, Paul Gordon and Christopher Purvis; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and family from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 16, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Palmetto Cemetery.

Charles Gowen

Charles Latimer Gowen, 99, of Atlanta and St. Simons Island died on Monday at his Atlanta home. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the churchyard at Christ Church Frederica on St. Simons Island with the Rev. John Law officiating.
Mr. Gowen was born in Westgate, Iowa but came to Brunswick at an early age. He graduated from Glynn Academy in 1921 and received his law degree from the University of Georgia Law School in l925. While at the University he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, Sphinx and Gridiron honoraries, Demosthenian literary society, and was Business Manager of the 1925 Pandora. He was admitted to the bar upon his graduation and returned to Brunswick in July 1925, to enter the practice of law as a partner of the late Judge C.B. Conyers in the firm of Conyers & Gowen.
He practiced law in Brunswick for thirty-six years and served as Brunswick Juvenile Court Judge from l939 to 1946. Also in 1939 he was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives where he served until his voluntary retirement in l960, except for a two-year absence when he ran a respected but unsuccessful race for Governor in l954. While in the Legislature, he was a Chairman of both the Appropriations and Judiciary Committees and was a member of the 1945 State Constitution Revision Committee. He was elected by his fellow lawyers President of the Georgia Bar Association for the 1945-46 term, and in l958 he was elected a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
In l962 Mr. Gowen was invited to become a senior partner in the Atlanta firm of King & Spalding. He and his wife Evelyn moved to Atlanta where he practiced trial law and became involved in civic activities. He served as Chairman of the Citizens Committee on the Georgia General Assembly, Chairman of the State Commission of Compensation, President and Chairman of the Fulton County Unit of the American Cancer Society, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School. He served as President of the Capital City Club and was a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He was a member of the American Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Lawyers Foundation of Georgia, the Roosevelt Warm Springs Memorial Advisory Committee, and the Board of Trustees of Presbyterian Homes of Georgia.
Mr. Gowen's courtroom appearances covered half a century and include his successful argument before the United States Supreme Court in l968 representing the Presbyterian Church in the U.S. in a precedent-setting case involving church-state conflict and his successful defense in l972 of the Coca-Cola Company in an anti-trust jury trial.
Mr. Gowen served on the University of Georgia Law School's Board of Visitors and was a recipient of the Law School Association's Distinguished Service Scroll. In July 2002, his family honored him with the dedication of the Charles Latimer Gowen Courtyard on the University's Old Campus.
A member of First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, he was also a charter member of St. Simons Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Atlanta-Homosassa Fishing Club, Capital City Club, Piedmont Driving Club and Sea Island Club. His favorite pastimes were travel, golf, fishing and spectator sports, especially University of Georgia football, and he often participated in these activities with family and friends. He was a member of the University of Georgia Alumni Association and the Glynn Academy Alumni Association.
He is survived by two daughters, Anne Gowen Spalding of Atlanta and St. Simons Island and Mary Evelyn Gowen Wood of St. Simons Island; a sister, Gladys Gowen Fendig of St. Simons Island; a stepsister, Jean Gowen Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two stepbrothers, Richard Gowen of Jacksonville and James Gowen of Sallisaw, Okla.; eight grandchildren, including Evelyn W. Walker of Brunswick, and Charles G. Spalding, Laura W. Cammon, and W. David Wood of St. Simons Island;15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including Jane F. Ledbetter and Albert Fendig Jr. of St. Simons Island.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Presbyterian Homes of Georgia, Inc., P.O. Drawer 909, Quitman, GA 31643, or a favorite charity.

Carole Knutson Pfeifer, 66, of Brunswick died Wednesday, June 28, at the Brunswick hospital of the Southeast Georgia Health System.
She was a native of Minnesota and had been a resident of Glynn County for 31 years. She was retired from the National Park Service and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading.
Mrs. Pfeifer is survived by her husband, Roger L. Pfeifer of Brunswick; a son, Dan Jeffrey Pfeifer of Brunswick; her father, Morris Knutson of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; two sisters, Judith Larson of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Julia McDonough of Fargo, N.D.; a granddaughter, Brandy Lynn Pfeifer; a great-granddaughter, Abby Lynn Pfeifer; an aunt; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at noon Wednesday, July 5, 2006, in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
