Mildred Hunter Joiner, 91, of Woodbine died Friday in Orange Park, Fla.
Mrs. Joiner, a native of Athens, had resided in Camden County since 1937. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Joiner was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodbine.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Woodbine with the Rev. Tim Rice officiating.
Burial will be Wednesday in Oconee Hill Cemetery in Athens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Turner of Jacksonville; three sons, Billy Joiner of Woodbine, Charles Joiner of Snellville and Harry Joiner of Toccoa; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

James C. "Little Boy" Bennett, 79, of Atkinson died Thursday.
A Wayne County native, Mr. Bennett was a self-employed carpenter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Brunswick.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Rinehart & Sons Funeral Home in Jesup.
Interment will follow in Bennett Cemetery in Screven.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include his daughter, Shirlene Talley of Cross Hill S.C.; son, James K. Bennett of Jesup; and sister, Susie Pearl Tucker of Brunswick.

Richard Wayne Edwards, 72, formerly of Brunswick and St. Simons Island, died April 15 in Jacksonville, Fla.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at Cummings Chapel, St. John's Episcopal Cathedral in Jacksonville. His ashes will be interred in the cathedral's memorial garden.

James H. "Jay" Elder, 49, of Waynesville died Thursday at the Brunswick hospital of Southeast Georgia Health System.
A native of Coffee County, he was a longtime resident of Glynn and Brantley counties. Mr. Elder was a retired Certified Automotive Technician.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Lamey officiating.
Burial will follow in Surrency City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Richard Janousek, Paul Callaway, Johnny Mancil, Scotty Dixon, Richard Story, James Hall, Robbie Tucker and Bobby Cargile.

Bennie Lee Davis Sr., age 70, died Friday, January 20, 2006. A native of Iowa, Bennie came to the Brunswick area while serving in the U.S. Navy. He was enlisted during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War and retired after 20 years of service.
Bennie was also a Glynn County Police Officer in the late '70s. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and the Fleet Reserve Association. He loved fishing and golf and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful father and will be sadly missed.
Survivors: His wife of 46 years, Rita Beasley Davis, Brunswick. Son, Bennie L. (Donna) Davis, Jr., Brunswick. Two Daughters, Tammy (Dobie) Strickland, Brunswick, and Jean (Terry) Fleck, Weirsdale, Fla. Sister, Mary Hughes, Grant City, Mo. Eight Grandchildren, Tabatha Davis, Cody Davis, Aleesha Davis, Stephanie (Wendell) Harris, Dennis Black, Allen Black, Jacob Black and Jessica Fleck. Three great-grandchildren, Nathan Bass, Adrian Harris, and Ashton Harris.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at 4:30 p.m. at Light House Baptist Church. The Revs. David Hudson and Robert W. Beasley will officiate. Internment will be private.

Patsy Elaine Horne Wilson, 64, of Waverly died Wednesday at the Hospice of the Golden Isles.
Born in Starke, Fla., she had been a resident of Camden County since 1988 and was employed as a restaurant cook.
She is survived by three brothers, Mallory Horne and Jack Horne, both of Waverly and Richard Horne of Sparr, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service for Thelma Adkins Pack of Darien will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, March 27, at St. Andrew's Cemetery in Darien.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at the Pack home, 411 Fort King George Drive, Darien.
Mrs. Pack, 100, died March 24 in Savannah.
The West Virginia native was born Sept. 17, 1905, and came to Darien with her husband, John Pack, to establish Pack Chevrolet in the early 1950s. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, the church altar guild and the Darien Dorcas Society.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Jinks Adkins; her husband, John Pack; and her daughter, Vida Pack George and son-in-law, Jimmie George.
Surviving are a brother, Hurston Adkins of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren, Joy George Biddar of Darien, Rose Anne George Giles (John) of Alpharetta and Dr. John Pack George (Kimberly) of Savannah; nine great-grandchildren, John Biddar and George Biddar, both of St. Simons Island, Melissa Biddar of Darien, Elizabeth Giles of Boca Raton, Fla., Allison Giles and Stephanie Giles, both of Alpharetta, and John George, Andrew George and Margaret George, all of Savannah; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Lee McKie, 71, of St. Simons Island died October 26, 2005, at the local hospital.
A native of Rhine, Ga., Mrs. McKie had made her home in Glynn County since 1974, having moved from Albany. She formerly operated Mary's Fashion Fabrics on St. Simons Island and then was associated with the Brunswick-Glynn County Library for more than 15 years. She was a member of I.F.A. (In for Anything) on St. Simons Island and was a very active member of Glynn Haven Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mac McKie.
Surviving are one daughter, Fran Owens (Mark) of St. Simons Island; a son David McKie (Anne) of St. Simons Island; two sisters, Betty Jean Pirkle of Eastman, Ga., and Emma Sue Howard of St. Simons Island; and a brother, Ben M. Howard (Janette) of St. Simons Island. She was Nana to Sarah C. Stephens (Kory) of Brunswick, Jason N. Robitz (Jennifer) of Sylvester, Ga., and Stephanie M. Owens of St. Simons Island.
The funeral was to be at 11 a.m. today at Glynn Haven Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Copley officiating.
Burial was to follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Bob Pirkle, Benny Pirkle, Matt Fordham, Alan Howard, Hugh Vann and Danny Rogers.
The family received friends Friday evening at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

Jerry A. Kight, 37, of Waynesville died August 13, 2005, at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.
A lifelong resident of Glynn County, Jerry attended Brunswick High School. He was assistant manager of Papa John's Pizza in Brunswick.
Jerry was preceded in death by a sister, Judith Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Carol R. Elliott Kight of Waynesville; a stepson, Robert E. Elliott III of Waynesville; three stepdaughters, Amber D. Elliott, Joyce M. Elliott and Jasmine A. Elliott, all of Waynesville; a brother, James A. Kight III (Terri) of Brunswick; two sisters, Janice Baker (Bob) and Joyce Dixon, both of Brunswick; a brother-in-law, Ray Hill of Belk, Ala.; and nieces and nephews, Kim McDowell (Jeremy), Allen Dixon Jr. and Dale Dixon, all of Brunswick and Ray Hill Jr. and Tabitha Hill, both of Belk, Ala.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Joel D. Mullis officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Papa John's Pizza, Dr. William Grubb and staff and the owners and staff of Street Life Tattoos.

Surviving are a daughter, Wynette Sellers of Brunswick; a son, Edward Murphy of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Velma Kirk of Darien; two brothers, John M. Carter and Sam Carter, both of Baxley; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Murphy was a native of Appling County.

Surviving are his wife, Yvonne M. Lawson; five children, Dale Lawson Sr., Donna Ervin, Varnell Chesnut, Richard Lawson and Penelope Franklin; a brother, Warren Lawson; and a sister, Blanche Richardson.
Mr. Lawson was a member of Chicago's Scottish Rite of Free Masonry Order.

Faye Anne Andrews Shiroky, 72, of Brunswick died Saturday in Woodstock.
A native of Hazelhurst, Mrs. Shiroky lived in Brunswick most of her life. She was a 1952 graduate of Glynn Academy. Mrs. Shiroky retired from Southern Bell, where she had worked as a telephone operator and clerk. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Mrs. Shiroky was a member of College Place United Methodist Church and South Cherokee Baptist Church of Woodstock. She was a member of Coastal Georgia Airstream Club.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chapman Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike Andrews officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Andrew's Cemetery in Darien.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Charles Brandt, Bob DomBek, James Pineda, Andy Sinquefield, Vinnie Schreiner, Chris Nutgrass, Chad Nutgrass and Paul Kiff.

Mrs. Lois S. Chaney, known as "Nanny" by those who knew and loved her, died Monday, April 24, 2006, at the Brunswick hospital of Southeast Georgia Health System after a long and courageous battle. She was 73 years old.
Born in Jeff Davis County on November 13, 1932, she had been a resident of Brunswick since 1954. She was employed at King's Shrimp and Golden Shores for 20 years as a piece worker. For 19 years, she was most known by the community for her in-home nursery and babysitting in her beloved pink house.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, the Rev. George L. Chaney; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Laverne Chaney of Waynesville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Donald Shrouder of New Jersey; a sister, Libby McDonald of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Sue Chambers. Though we know she is in a better place, we will all miss her deeply. We were blessed to have this angel for a little while.
Pallbearers will be Chris Kennedy, Michael Kennedy, Jim Paige, James Scott, Joey Scott and Kyle Young.
