CORDELE - Funeral services for Lula Mae Thompson Walker will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, in Shady Grove Baptist Church, Cordele. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. The Rev. L.D. Cobb will officiate the services.
Mrs. Walker died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, in an Orlando, Fla., hospital.
Born in Dooly County, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Emma Smith Thompson. She attended Dooly County Schools and was the widow of the late Willie Walker. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she served on the mission and mother boards. She was a homemaker and a domestic worker.
Survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
The body will be placed in the church at 12 p.m.

MACON - W. Pauline Edwards, 86, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, in a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services, Cordele. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Cordele. The Rev. Billy Forrest will officiate the services.
She was born in Cordele, the daughter of the late Calvin Ambers Powell and Lola Connell Powell. She was the wife of the late Frank Edwards and had lived in Macon since 1946. She had worked at Saratoga Restaurant and at LenBergs and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Faur of Omaha, Neb.; her son, William Carl Gordon Jr. of Gray; her sister, Lola Mae Mathis of Cordele; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. today at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, Macon.

ARABI - Louise M. Pate, 76, of Arabi died at her residence Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004.
Born Wednesday, May 23, 1928, in Cordele, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Musselwhite and Clara Whiddon Musselwhite. Mrs. Pate was a homemaker and a member of Arabi Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 23, 2004, at Arabi Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Geoffrey Pate Sr. of Arabi; her children, Shirley Burke of Jacksonville, Fla., Johnny Pate and wife, Nancy of Jacksonville, Fla., Sandra Odom and husband, Jimmy of Arabi, Roy Pate and wife, Lynn of Pitts, and Ricky Pate Sr. of Arabi; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Pate of Arabi; sisters, Bessie Lee Howell of Warner Robins, and Joyce McNair of Ashburn; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

OCILLA - Funeral services for Henry Woodrum, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, in Holt Baptist Church in Irwin County. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. David Biggers and J.A. Clements will officiate the services.
Mr. Woodrum died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, in Tift Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 22, 1923, in Turner County, he was the son of the late Lonnie M. and Mary Arnold Woodrum. He was a retired carpenter, a member of Holt Baptist Church and a Mason. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his daughters, Brenda Wright of Cordele, and Renee Taylor of Fitzgerald; eight grandchildren, Hugh Taylor, Wesley Taylor, Jamie, Julie, Katelyn, Lindsey, Hershel and Candy Tapp; four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Zack, Josh and Jake Taylor; a special friend, Kay Tapp of Ocilla; three sisters, Laura Hampton and Mabel White both of Macon, and Estelle Barrentine of Bonaire; a brother, Milton Woodrum Jr. of Eatonton; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Melton Woodrum.

Mr. Sanders died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at his residence.
Born in Dooly County, he was the son of the late Noah Freeman Sanders and Willie Alsobrook Sanders. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a farmer. Mr. Sanders was a member of Smyrna Independent Methodist Church where he was a Steward. He attended Harmony Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Freeman Sanders.
Survivors include his wife, Doris P. Sanders of Unadilla; a daughter, Linda (Gloy) Hobbs of Vienna; sons, Wayne (Linda) Sanders and Joe Sanders of Unadilla; sisters, Bertha Lindsey of Unadilla, and Martha Evans of Dublin; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Born July 4, 1920, in Wilcox County, he was the son of the late Clyde Lyston Peebles and Floy Osborne Peebles. He was a farmer and member of the Pitts Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the Rochelle Masonic Lodge #190 F&AM and was former director of Colony Bank. He also was a former mayor of Pitts and a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Peebles of Pitts; two sons, Pete (Kay) Peebles of Pitts, and Furman (Maxine) Peebles of Rochelle; a daughter, Tena Peebles of Douglasville; a sister, Sarah P. Royal of Ashburn; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
