Mr. Billy Russell, 75,
entered into rest Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003 at Burke Medical Center. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Nov. 30, 2003 at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel, with Bud Stroud officiating. Burial followed at Burke Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Russell was a lifelong resident of Burke County and a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro. He was self-employed as an appliance repairman and served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Marie Russell.
Survivors include his loving wife, Elizabeth (Stewart) Russell of Waynesboro; daughter, Susan Elizabeth Massey of Snellville, Ga.; sons, Alvin Michael Russell of Mokena, Ill. and William Stewart (Bill) Russell of Waynesboro; sisters, Lillian Menger of Augusta, Frances R. Drummond of Buford, Ga., and Betty R. Dixon of Stone Mountain; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Jennifer, April, Christopher and Laura Russell, Craig Sapp and Alex Massey; and two great-grandchildren, Diamond Hunt and Mark Russell.
Pallbearers were Richard Jenkins, L.V. Jenkins, Ed Glisson, Willard Skinner, Owen A. McDaniel and Chuck Land.
Mrs. Louise Cochran Sapp Clements
entered into rest Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003 at Brentwood Terrace Health Center in Waynesboro. Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Magnolia Cemetery, with the Rev. Wayne Dixon officiating.
Mrs. Clements was a lifelong resident of Burke County and a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesboro. She was preceded in death by husbands, Heyward Sapp Sr. and James Clements; and son, Melvin Sapp.
Survivors include Heyward Sapp Jr. of Elijay; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Augusta, on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today (Wednesday), Dec. 3, at Murphy Ebenezer Baptist Church, Waynesboro.
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Angela R. Smith; son-in-law, the Rev. Stephen B. Smith; five grandchildren, Deonta, Davin, Stephanie, Tammaria and Tiffany; three brothers, Willie (Julia) Howard, Sylvester (Eva) Howard Sr. and Edward (Rebecca) Howard, all of Waynesboro; two sisters, Ida Lewis of Waynesboro and Birdy Collins of Augusta; and a sister-in-law, Elease Howard of Waynesboro.
The Rev. Robert E. (Bob) Wade passed away at his residence
on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 29, at First Baptist Church, with Dr. James C. Elder officiating. Interment followed in the Westview Cemetery.
Rev. Wade had pastored churches in Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia. He had lived in Thomson for the past 15 years where he served as Director of Missions for the Hephzibah and Kilpatrick Baptist Associations for nine years. After retiring as Director of Missions, he served as pastor of Raysville Baptist Church for five and a half years. Rev. Wade was a graduate of Auburn University and Southern Seminary. He was honored by Raysville Church in June 2002, for 50 years of continuous service as a minister of the gospel. For a period of three years, he taught courses for Samford University extensions division in Birmingham, Ala. He has held many offices in the state and associations where he has pastored. He was presently a member of the executive committee and a member of the Committee on Committees for the Georgia Baptist Convention. He had traveled to Africa, Panama, the Republic of Georgia and London on mission teams plus leading mission teams in several states in the United States.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Trotter Wade; three sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Debra Wade of Warner Robins, John and Dianne Wade of Cincinnati, Ohio and Mike and Stephanie Wade of Lafayette; six grandchildren, John Thad Wade, John Robert Wade, Craig Wade, Kaylyn Wade, Joshua Wade and Mary Kathryn Wade; a brother and sister-in-law, Larkin and Pat Wade of Auburn, Ala.; two sisters, Jane Lewis of Tallahassee, Fla. and Nell Marshall of Midwest City, Okla.
Pallbearers were John Robert Wade, Craig Wade, Joshua Wade, Edward Benson, Jack Mercer and William Helmly. Mrs. Minnie P. Washington
The homegoing service for Mrs. Minnie P. Washington will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003 at historic First Ebenezer Baptist Church, Hephzibah, with the Rev. Moses D. Anderson officiating. Her memories will be cherished by her daughter, Malvenia Washington; and grandchildren, brothers, sisters, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Judith F. Martin, 70,
of Waynesboro entered into rest Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Mrs. Martin was a retired homemaker, a Methodist and served her country in the U.S. Marine Corps.Survivors include her husband, Donald L. Martin of Waynesboro; a son, Terry L. Martin of Northville, N.Y.; a daughter, Deborah L. Reynolds of Georgetown, Ky.; mother, Henrietta Phillips of Sche-nectady, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Ira L. Mr. Charles H. Elliott, 78,
of Sardis entered into rest Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at his residence. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Sardis Baptist Church, with Dr. Bill King officiating. Burial followed at Sardis Baptist Cemetery. Mr. Elliott was a lifelong resident of Sardis. He retired from Perfection Industries and farming and was a member of Sardis Baptist Church. Mr. Elliott served his country in World War II in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn J. Elliott of Sardis; a son, Charles (Herbie) E. Elliott Jr. of Sardis; three daughters, Margaret F. Odom of Sardis, Rose E. Chandler Johnson and Darlene E. Lamb, both of Martinez; a brother, Norman A. Elliott of Sardis; and 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Mitchell Marion “Micky” Daughtry, age 56,
Passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2003 at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 17) at the Macedonia Baptist Church. The body will lie in state one hour prior. Burial with full military honors will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Daughtry was a Bulloch County native, graduating from Marvin Pittman High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was medically retired. Mr. Daughtry was a 1993 graduate of Georgia Southern University and had lived in Waynesboro for the past several years. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. Mr. Daughtry was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Margaret Daughtry. Survivors include his wife, Carol Elaine Belin Daughtry of Waynesboro; three daughters, Willis and Jodi Lynn May of Waynesboro, Jennifer Elaine Daughtry of Statesboro and Joseph and Julie Ann Taylor of Waynesboro; two sons, Scott and Sarina Daughtry of Statesboro and Mitchell Daughtry Jr. of Waynesboro; one sister, Carolyn Jenkins of Statesboro; two brothers, C.L. Daughtry Jr. of Millen and Freddy Daughtry of Statesboro; and four grandchildren, Warren Daughtry, Katelyn Daughtry, Breeanna Daughtry and Joseph Allen Taylor Jr.

Mrs. Ethel Skinner Blissett, 89,
died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003 at Heritage Park of Savannah under the care of Hospice of Savannah. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at the First Baptist Church of Garden City. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Blissett was born on Aug. 27, 1914 in Alexander to the late Simeon Wilkes Skinner and Sally Joyner Skinner. She lived in Alexander, Savannah and since Garden City. Mrs. Blissett was a homemaker, a devoted wife and mother. She was also a great cook. Mrs. Blissett was a member of the First Baptist Church of Garden City and the C&S Sunday School Class, both of which she loved and enjoyed attending. She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Larry Thomas Blissett and her grandson, Ladd Blissett.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Charles E. Blissett Sr. of Garden City; a daughter, Sandra L. Mrs. Gayle Smith Lyon,
of 318 Asbury Church Rd., Waynesboro, entered into rest at her residence Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at the chapel of DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry McLaughlin officiating. Burial followed at the Lyon Family Cemetery. Mrs. Lyon was a native of Idaho and a retired civilian at Fort Gordon. She had lived in Burke County for the past 10 years and was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include her husband, Wendell Lyon of Waynesboro; a son, Shane Lyon and wife, Gina of Waynesboro; a daughter, Wendy Speight and husband, David of Hephzibah; son-in-law, Keith Bottoms of Waynesboro; a sister, Carol Rogers of Idaho; a brother, George Smith of Las Vegas, Nev.; and five grandchildren, Kristen, Trey, Kathy, Dalton and Matthew.
Mrs. Thelma S. Rackley
entered into rest Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 at Burke Medical Center. Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 at Sardis United Methodist Church with the Revs. Karen Zeigler, Wayne Dixon and Roy White officiating. Burial followed in Sardis Baptist Cemetery. Mrs. Rackley was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 382 and a member of Board of Directors of Southern Bank for 16 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hubert Rackley. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Rackley Cline of George-town, Ky.; a granddaughter, Amy Trussellof Toledo, Ohio; and a great-grandson, Tyler Trussell of Toledo, Ohio. Pallbearers were Charlie Hillis, Frank Graham, Mike Robinson, Jimmy Parker, Grady E. Dixon and Dr. Frank Carter. entered into rest at Brentwood Nursing Home on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Bill King officiating. Interment followed at Burke Memorial Gardens in Waynesboro. Mr. Quick was born in Jenkins County, however, he spent most of his life in Burke County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Twid and Willie Mae Quick; and two brothers, Charles and Byne Quick. Survivors include his son, Michael Quick of Sardis; two daughters, Michelle Christy of Hephzibah and Brandy Quick of Sardis; a stepson, Steven Sikes of Sardis; two brothers, Twid Quick Jr. of Augusta and Harold Quick of Waynesboro; six sisters, Mary Brown, Deborah Sasser and Doris Lariscy, all of Waynesboro, Jane Neely and Sandra Minick, both of Augusta and Audrey Hunt of Columbia, S.C.; and one granddaughter, Lauren Christy of Hephzibah.
Mrs. Lessie F. Bell, 85,
entered into rest Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003 at Brentwood Terrace Health Center, Waynesboro. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003 at Botsford Baptist Church, with the Revs. Wayne Dixon and Guy McLamb officiating. Burial followed at Alexander Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Bell was a lifelong resident of Burke County, member of Botsford Baptist Church and retired from Keller Industries as an assembly line worker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin A. Bell.
Survivors include her son, William A. “Bill” Bell of Guyton; a daughter, Alice B. Thomas of Waynesboro; and nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were W.C. McClain Jr., Dwelly Flakes, Louie Quick, Lester Flakes, Johnny Jenkins, Charlie Hillis, David Tapley and Hubert Hillis. Mr. Joel Brantley DeLaigle, 46,
died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 24) in the Jake A. Futch Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Bruce Myers officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Waynesboro. Mr. DeLaigle was a Chatham County native living in Brooklet since 1994. He was employed with Vickery Brothers Floor Covering Co. for over 25 years. He attended school in Chatham County, was a previous route man fo Flav-O-Rich/Starling Dairy and a member of Simmons Mill Fish Pond. In 1983 he was preceded in death by his father, Russell James DeLaigle Sr. Survivors include his wife, Brenda F. DeLaigle of Brooklet; two sons, Joe Anthony Meeks of Jacksonville, Fla. and Joshua Thomas Meeks of Richmond Hill; a daughter, Miranda Ashley Meeks of Brooklet; his mother, Martha Ann Godbee DeLaigle of Brooklet; a brother and sister-in-law, Russell “Jimmy” and Kathy DeLaigle of Nashville, Tenn.
