CORDELE - Omah J. Maddox, 88, of Cordele died at Cordele Health & Rehab Saturday, March 5, 2005.
She was born Wednesday, September 6, 1916 in Cordele, and was the daughter of the late Walter Israel Johnson and Mae Elizabeth Hogsett Johnson and the widow of Marion Parkerson Maddox.
She was a member of Arabi Baptist Church, a Department Manager and Buyer for Roobins Department Store and a volunteer at Crisp Regional Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery Sunday, March 6, 2005 at 4:00 p.m.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth M. Hughes of Albany and Gail M. and Arthur Posey of Cordele; her grandchildren, Tina and Dwayne Orrick of Cordele, Billy Hughes of Vienna, Jon and Gwen Posey of Cordele and Mitchell and Farise Posey of Cumming; and great-grandchildren, Alex Easom, Kristin Easom, Rachael Hughes, and Jacob Posey, all of Cordele, and Hudson Posey of Cumming. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Johnson and sisters,Mildred Wehlitz and Joan Johnson.

Bobbie Lee Lavender
LAWRENCEBURG, TENN. - Bobbie Lee Lavender, 89, died at Country Side Nursing Home in Lawrenceburg Saturday, March 5, 2005.
She was born Tuesday, February 29, 1916 in Cordele and was the daughter of the late Charlie Monroe Knott and Willie Lee Holliday Knott, and the widow of W.E. Lavender. She was a minister for the Church of God.
Graveside services will be held at Cedar Creek Cemetery Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at 2:00 p.m.
Mrs. Lavender is survived by a nephew, Chuck Reed of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.

Paul Stanley Matthews
NEWNAN - Paul Stanley Matthews, 66, died at his residence on march 5, 2005.
He was a truck driver with AAA Cooper. Mr. Matthews was a member of Beulah Baptist where he served as a deacon and treasurer of the church. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a craftsman in woodworking. The love and “apple of his eye” was his granddaughter, Cheryl Anne.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Tharpe Matthews of Newnam; son and daughter-in--law, Randy and Robin Matthews of Perry; brother, John Mathews of Florida; sisters, Grace Register of Cordele and Betty Jean Dinwiddie of Florida; and granddaughter, Cheryl Anne Matthews.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 4 p.m. at the chapel of watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry with Dr. David Couch and Rev. Rick Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Perry Memorial gardens.
Visitation will be today from 4-8 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home.
Donald R. Dominey
ABBEVILLE - Funeral services for Donald R. Dominey, 61, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 7 at Antioch Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Wilcox and Rev. David Clark will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Dominey passed away Friday, March 4, 2005 at his residence.
Mr. Dominey was born on Sugust 13, 1943 in Worth County. He was the son of the late Cleavous Dominey and Allie Lois Scoggins Dominey. He was a retired bus driver and had served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Travis Dominey of Ellaville, Donald Dominey, Jr. of Ashburn, Clayton Dominey of Ellaville and Gene Dominey of Heritage, Arkansas; one daughter, Elaine Whittington of Chula; three brothers, James Dominey of Bonaire, Buck Dominey of Fitzgerald, and Benny Dominey of Americus; three sisters, Laverne White of Rochelle, Barbara Gibbs of Rochelle and Oneita Hancock of Fitzgerald; and ten grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Malcolm Pierce Boggs, Sr.
GREENVILLE - Funeral services for Malcolm Pierce Boggs, Sr.,78, were held at 2 p.m. March 5, 2005 at Greenville United Methodist Church. Rev. Charles Swaney officiated.
Mr. Boggs died Thursday, March 3 at West Georgia medical Center.
He was the son of Samuel Newton Boggs and Annie Ruth Martin. He was a member of Greenville United Methodist Church, Greenville Lodge # 321, Shriners, ATO Fraternity at Auburn, attended West Georgia College, volunteer at West Georgia Medical Center and Callways Gardens and Cordele Roary Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Boggs Patterson of Huntersville, N.C. and Jane Leigh (Eric) Boggs Guthrie of Brunswick; two sons, Malcolm Pierce Boggs, Jr. of Augusta and George Samuel Boggs of Drayton; a sister, Molly Mauldin of Dalton; brother, Wade Boggs of Duleda, FL; three grandchildren, Malcolm Pierce Boggs III, Patrick Allen Cox, and Russell Wade Cox; and one great-grandson, Devon Pierce Boggs. He is proceeded in death by his wife, Juanita Jarrell Boggs.

Johnny Lee Lewis
VIENNA - Funeral services for Johnny Lee Lewis, Jr. will be held on Monday, March 7 at 12 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Mount Zion C.M.E. Church. Rev. Bobby Farley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Vienna City Cemetery.
Mr. Lewis passed March 1, 2005.
Mr. Lewis was born in Dooly County, attended public school and graduate from Vienna High and Industrial School in 1929. He was an active member of the Mount Zion C.M.E. , where he served a lifetime in various capacities such as Steward and Senior Steward, Sunday School teacher,Superintendent and Treasurer.
Survivors include his son, Johnnie L. (Mattie) Lewis III of Pinehurst; his daugher, Marian L. (Peter J.) Baker of Kingsland;sisters, Irene McClendon and Thelma L. Wright, both of Rome, NY; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

CORDELE - Funeral services for Blake Edward Moore were held at 2 p.m. saturday, March 5, 2005 at the chapel of Hughes and Wright Funeral Home. Rev. Ray Burnette officiated the services with Blake’s 5th grade teacher, Reba Atkins, giving a eulogy. Burial followed in the Doble Run Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Royce Freeman officiating.
Billy White, pianist, provided soft music for the service and accompanied himself as he sand “Amazing Grace.” Corey Moore and Krisi Moore sang, “New Again” and Lexi moore sang Amazing Grace at the cemetery site. The service began with the playing of “Old Time Rock and Roll” and “I Can’t Even Walk Without Holding your Hand” played during the service.
Pallbearers were: Derek Bailey, Evan Bailey, Josh Clark, Clint Crenshaw, Craig Crenshaw, Jeremy Crenshaw, and Hunter Moore. Honorary pallbearers were: Corey Moore, Seth Moore and Tyler Moore.

BLUE RIDGE - Graveside funeral services for Audie Hallman, 90, were held March 5 at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sycamore.
Mrs. Hallman died Thursday at the Blue Ridge Health care after a long illness.
She was a native of Turner County and the daughter of the late William M. and Alda Gertrude Goss Lane. She was the widow of the late William Henry Hallman. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Stockbridge.She was a long time resident of Turner County moving to Talbot county in 1969, where she resided for a number of years before moving to Stockbridge and was retired from International Playtex. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Janette Braddy.
Survivors include her daughter, Erlene Hick of Morganton; grandchildren, Wayne Braddy of Cataula, Ronnie Braddy of Fayetteville, N.C.; Leigh Voigt of Midland and Tommy Buffington of Hampton; and five great-grandchildren.

MACON - Marvin L. Evans, 87, died Sunday night at the VA Hospital in Dublin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Paul N. Meadows and the Rev. Franklin Ethridge will officiate with full military honors at the graveside. The family will meet friends from 7 - 9 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home and may be contacted at the residence.
Mr. Evans, son of the late Will and Luddie Dowdy Evans, was born in Cordele and had lived in Macon most of his life. He served with the U. S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Evans was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where he was also a member of the Adult Men's Bible Class.
Survivors include his wife, Faustine Jones Evans of Macon; his children, Joan and Joe Parkin of Macon and Gail and Cecil Harper of McDonough; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

CORDELE - Lillie Kate Snyder, 95, died at Crisp Regional Hospital Sunday, March 6, 2005.
She was born Wednesday, June 2, 1909 in Arabi and was the daughter of the late William Nilas Bagwell and Edna Lewis Bagwell. She was a homemaker and retired seamstress from Cordele Uniform Company. Mrs. Snyder was the oldest member of Hatley Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at Rainey Family Funeral Services Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Zion Hope Methodist Cemetery in Crisp County.

SYCAMORE - Funeral services for Dorothy Wadsworth Capps,80, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005 , at the Chapel of McLamb-Morrison Funeral Home in Pembroke with burial to follow in the Lower Black Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Capps died Sunday at Tift Regional Medical Center after a short illness.
Mrs. Capps was a native of Bryan County, the daughter of the late Williams Perry and Tucy Lee Clanton. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert L. Wasworth in 1978, whom she was married to for 37 years, and her second husband Clinton Capps in 1987, whome she was married to for five years. She was a homemaker and a member of Sycamore Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her children, Robert and Joyce Wadsworth of Springfield, Benjamine P. Wadsworth of Sycamore, Sandra and Larry MUse of Ashburn, Lynne W. and John Merritt, Patricia W. Tolbert, Donna W. and Randy Holley, Teresa W. and Wendell Lupo, all of Sycamore, and Pam W. and Johnny Whiddon of Morven; sister and brother, Bessie Bazemore of Pembroke and Mellie C. Clanton of savannah; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
