A Rosary was held at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church at 7 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2005. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.

CORDELE - A graveside service for Omah J. Maddox was held at Sunnyside Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005. Rev. Ray Burnette conducted the service and Rainey Family Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements. Shearer Turton, soloist, sang “It Is Well With My Soul”.
Pallbearers were Jon Posey, Mitchell Posey, Tina Orrick, Alex Easom, Billy Hughes and Dwayne Orrick.

PANAMA CITY, FLA. - Alleen J. Rouse, 74, formerly of Rochelle, passed away Sunday in Brooks County from injuries substained in an automobile accident.

CORDELE - Funeral services for Blake Edward Moore were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the chapel of Hughes and Wright Funeral Home. Rev. Ray Burnette officiated the services with Blake’s 5th grade teacher, Reba Atkins, giving a Eulogy. Burial followed in the Double Run Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Royce Freeman officiating.
Billy White, pianist, provided soft music for the service and accompanied himself as he sang “Amazing Grace.” Corey Moore and Krisi Moore sang, “New Again” and Lexi Moore sang “Amazing Grace” at the cemetery site. The service began with the playing of “Old Time Rock and Roll” and “I Can’t Even Walk Without Holding your Hand” played during the service.
Pallbearers were: Derek Bailey, Evan Bailey, Josh Clark, Clint Crenshaw, Craig Crenshaw, Jeremy Crenshaw, and Hunter Moore. Honorary pallbearers were: Corey Moore, Seth Moore and Tyler Moore.

CORDELE - Cecelia D. Martin, 68, died at her residence Tuesday, March 8, 2005.
She was born Friday, September 11, 1936 in Cordele and was the daughter of the late Henry Carl Dockweiler and Ruth Lillian Dockweiler. She was a homemaker and a member of Penia Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 4 p.m. Interment will follow at Penia Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Martin of Cordele; her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Richard Burnette of Cordele; grandsons, Matthew Burnette and Michael Burnette and his wife, Ashley, all of Cordele; granddaughter, Megan Burnette of Cordele; and her sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Dwain Crumley. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Junior Dockweiler and Peter Dockweiler.

AMERICUS - Funeral arrangements for Nita Williams Rice will be held Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services in Americus. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
She died Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at Magnolia Manor.
A native of Sumter County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene E. and Annie Mae Perry Williams. She was a retired inspector with Manhattan Shirt Company and she worked for Jason’s and Cohen’s. She was a member of Americus First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Price Coleman of Dublin and Margaret Price (Don) Smith of Americus; two grandsons, Jimmy (Tracy) Black of Cordele and Scott Barry of Americus; two granddaughters, Jan Black (Bubba) East of Dublin and Laura Barry (Gil) Pittman of Americus; a sister, Ima W. Chappell of Americus; brother, Calvin Williams of Americus; seven great grandchildren, Jake and Klyie Pittman of Leslie; Rob, Ben and Matt East of Dublin and Lauren Black of Cordele and Eric Meadows of Cordele; and two step granddaughters, Tami (Scott) Colter and Cheri (Dewey) Paradise, both of Americus.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7p.m. at Aldridge Funeral Services.

CORDELE - Funeral services for Irene Harris Evans, 59, will be held 3 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2005 in the sanctuary of the Beulahland Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Bethel City Cemetery. The Rev. Hosie Waters of Montezuma will officiate.
Ms. Evans passed away March 4, 2005 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
She leaves to mourn her passing: two daughers, Cynthia (Lonnie) Coleman and Deshontaviya Mercer; three sons, Corbett Evans, James (Laverne) evans, and Kenneth Evans; a loving mother, Mrs. Julia Turner; four sisters, Pastor Kathy Griffin, Eula Little, Elizabeth Harris, and Lula (Arthur) Gunter; two uncles, Ashley (Annie) Felton and Walter Felton; and two aunts, Ossie Wynn and Frennie Woods. She also leaves a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.

CORDELE - Lillie Kate Snyder,95, died at Crisp Regional Hospital Sunday, March 6, 2005.
She was born Wednesday, June 2, 1909 in Arabi and was the daughter of the late Williams Nilas Bagwell and Edna Lewis Bagwell. She was a homemaker and retired seamstress from Cordele Uniform Company. Mrs. Snyder was the oldest member of Hatley Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at Rainey Family Funeral Services on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Zion Hope Methodist Cemetery in Crisp County.
She is survived by her children, Kathryn L. Meados of Hampton, VA., Jack O. Snyder and Carolyn Spencer, both of Phenix City, AL., Lowell (Betty) Snyder and Eloise S. (Gene) Bodrey, both of Cordele; grandchildren, Brenda (Mike) McCoy, Mike (Leslie) Bodrey, Tim Snyder, Shannon Spencer, Angela (Scott) Williford, Lyndie hayslip, Bryan (Sonya) Mayo, Christy (Paul) Butterworth; and great grandchildren, Amber, Deena, Logan, Dakota Scott, Aubrey and Caleb. She was preceded in death by brothers, John Lee Bagwell, jess Bagwell and Pate bagwell.

Rev. J. Hubert Blanton
CORDELE - The Rev. J. Hubert Blanton, 89, died at Crisp Regional Hospital Friday, March 11, 2005.
He was born Saturday, June 5, 1915, in Early County and was the son of the late Joseph Henry Blanton and Missouri Lula Rosetta Paul Blanton and the widower of Frances Glass Blanton. Rev. Blanton was a retired minister and the founder of the Cordele First Assembly of God in 1965.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 14, 2005, at the Cordele First Assembly of God at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in East View Cemetery in Shellman, Ga.
He is survived by two sons, Carl E. Blanton of Brunswick and Larry Blanton (Lois) of Cordele; three daughters, Barbara B. Collins, Pat B. Fox (Larry) and Sherrie B. Adams (Daniel) all of Cordele; brother-in-law, the Rev. A.J. Glass (Inez) of Blakely; sister-in-law, Ruth Johnson Glass of Cuthbert; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Marvin E. Blanton and a grandson, Byron K. Blanton.

A native of Dooly County, he was educated in the Dooly County schools and was a member of the New Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Byromville.

Joe and Sara Lee sang “Song Of Farewell,” “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”, “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.” Mr. Lee accompanied on the guitar.
The Committal Service was in Sunnyside Cemetery.
A Rosary was said Friday at 7 p.m. at the church.
