Rita Teem
Ms. Rita Teem, age 48 of Ball Ground, passed away on Thursday, Dec.
13, 2001 at her residence. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and
retired from the manufacturing of Fiber Cable.
Survivors include her son, Jonathan Salay of Ball Ground; daughter,
Ann Cox of Ringgold, Ga.; sisters, Rebecca Teem of New York, N.Y. and
Martha Imbriano of Jasper.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 from the
Salem Baptist Church with the Revs. Gene Childers, Buddy Roper, Max West
and Black McClure officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

L.B. Flowers Sr.
Mr. L.B. Flowers Sr., age 67 of Waleska, passed away Sunday, Dec.
9, 2001 at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee in Canton.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Flowers, Waleska; sons, Billy and
L.B. Flowers Jr., both of Jasper; daughter, Shirley Floyd of Monroe;
brothers, Jackie Flowers, Ball Ground, Freddie Flowers, Rome, and Wade
Flowers, Salacoa; sisters, Katherine McDonald, Carolyn Patterson and
Kristine Poole, all of Bartow County. Nine grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12 from the
Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Quinn Lambert
officiating. Interment followed in the Lake Forest Memorial Park in Jasper.
Clifford Hensley
Mr. Clifford Hensley, age 85 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, Dec.
13, 2001 at the Mountainside Medical Center. He was retired from the
Georgia Marble Company and a member of Berean Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Katie Smith Hensley, Jasper; daughters
and sons-in-law, Dorthy and Jimmy Rittenberry and Mary Nell and C.W. Logan,
all of Talking Rock, Betty Jean and Billy Reece, Whitestone, Elaine and
Downy Logan, Jasper, and Evelean and Deryl Hyde, Ellijay; brother, Herbert
Hensley, Ryo Community; sisters, Bonnie Corn, Ranger, and Jewell Goble,
Ramhurst. Fourteen grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Mt. Pisgah
Baptist Church with the Revs. Wallace Parks and Jerry Nolan officiating.
Music was by the James Hensley Family. The interment followed in the church
cemterey with the following serving as pallbearers: Larry and Garry
Rittenberry, William Reece, Chad, Greg and Lamar Logan. The following
served as honorary pallbearers: Shane Logan, Randy and Daniel Rittenberry,
Dustin Summer, Matthew and Tim Hyde.

Juanita Stargel
Mrs. Juanita Stargel, age 71 of Tate, passed away Monday, Dec. 10,
2001 at St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Stargel of Tate; one daughter
and son-in-law, Janice and Brian Fox, Ball Ground; one sister and
brother-in-law, Barbara and Rev. Charles Callahan, Kennesaw; one
granddaughter, Emma Fox, Ball Ground.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday from Cool Springs
Baptist Church in Tate with the Revs. Eddie Martin and Billy Emmett
officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were:
Tim, Sam and Matt Callahan, Curtis, Dennis, Tony, Kenneth and Charles
Stargel.

Joey Gravitte
Mr. Joey Dwayne Gravitte, age 16 of Lindale, passed away Friday
morning, Jan. 12, 2001.
Joey was born in Floyd County on July 3, 1984, son of Cynthia
(Cindy) Gentry and James Edward Dewey Gravitte. He was a Sophomore at
Pepperell High School where he played on the Football and Wrestling Teams.
He had also previously attended Model High School and Pickens County High
School where he was involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He
was a member at the Christian Life Ministries, United Pentecostal Church
in Lindale.
Survivors include his mother, Ms. Cindy Gentry, Lindale; his
father, James Gravitte and his wife Melissa, Jasper; a sister, Jamey
Gravitte, Jasper; two brothers, Justin Highfield, Lindale, and Jarett
Gravitte, Jasper; his grandparents, Gail and Dewey Gravitte, Calhoun, John
and Lavonda Warren, Calhoun, and Frank and Wanda Gentry, Plainville; a
paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Lula Gravitte, Rome; a maternal
great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Gertie Elliott, Rome; his girlfriend,
Shannon Bridges, Rome; step-grandparents, Hubert and Ann Spain, Rome; an
aunt, Sabrina Gravitte, Calhoun; an uncle, Frank (Spanky) Gentry and his
family, Calhoun. Other relatives also survive.
The funeral services was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Chapel at
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney Bankens officiating.
Interment followed in the family lot in Rome Memorial Park. Active
pallbearers were: Daryle Hefner, Santee Roe, Dustin Winters, Ronnie Givens,
Jonah Bagley, Matt Sanders, Eric Rogers and Paul McCoy. Honorary: Members
of the Pepperell High School Football and Wrestling Teams.
Leo Martin
Mr. Leo O. Martin, age 85 of Ellijay, formerly of Nelson and a
member of Bethesda Baptist Church, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001 at
North Georgia Medical Center in Ellijay.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Martin, and one
son, Jackie Lamar Martin.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Betty
Martin, Ellijay, and Leo Jr. and Judy Martin of Douglasville; three
brothers, Donald, Herbert and Albert Reynolds, all of Rhode Island; one
sister, Mary. Seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11 from the
Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Junior McTaggart and Harold
Cantrell officiating. Interment followed in Bethesda Baptist Church
Cemetery. The following served as pallbearers: Randy McClure, John Lowman,
Roger Stahl, Michael and Jason Martin and Scott Randolph.
Annie Luke
Ms. Annie Mae Blizzard Luke, age 50 of Talking Rock, passed away
Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001 in Kennestone Hospital.
Ms. Luke was born Dec. 27, 1950 in Sylvester, Ga., the daughter the
late Benjamin C. and Mittie Lorene Blizzard. She worked in housekeeping and
was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include Don Ethridge and her loving family.
The funeral service was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of
Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Edmund Miller officiating.
Estelle Reeves
Mrs. Estelle Dilbeck Reeves, age 78 of Jasper, passed away Monday,
Jan. 15, 2001 at Chatsworth Health Care Center.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Nancy
Reeves, Jasper; two brothers, Lloyd Dilbeck, Calhoun, and Dudley Dilbeck,
Adairsville; one brother-in-law, Jay Williams, Calhoun; three sisters,
Shirley Greason, Adairsville, Geri Hammond, Newnan, and Juanita Cox,
Taylorsville; three grandchildren, Karen Reeves, Eton, Richard and Crystal
Rogers, Eton, and Chuck and Cari Reeves, Jasper. Six great-grandchildren,
two great-great-grandchildren and several nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17 from
Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Revs. Clyde Brock and Thomas Wheeler
officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The following
served as pallbearers: Eddie, Tommy and Robert Rich, Jimmy Faucett, Dwight
Wilson and Charles Tomblin.

Estelle Flowers
Mrs. Estelle Flowers, age 60 of Jasper, formerly of Cherokee
County, passed away at Mountainside Medical Center on Jan. 6, 2001. Mrs.
Flowers was employed in the poultry industry.
Survivors include her sons, Phillip Flowers, Jasper, Jimmy Flowers,
Woodstock, and Len Flowers, Canton; daughters, Linda Duckett, Jasper, Sandy
Holcomb and Jo Ann Cronan, Canton; brothers, Willie Wilson, Bartow County,
and Benny Wilson, Calhoun; sisters, Mary Franks and Gertrude Estes, both of
Jasper. Twelve grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Jan. 9 from the Salacoa Baptist Church
with interment in the Greely Cemetery.

Franklin Cook
Taylor Funeral Home, Fairmount Chapel, announces the death and
funeral service for Mr. Franklin Dee Cook, age 64 of Fairmount, who died
Wednesday morning, Jan. 3, 2001 at his residence.
Mr. Cook was born Oct. 1, 1936 in Bartow County to the late Mr. and
Mrs. John and Ada Taylor Cook. He was a retired truck driver and a member
of Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church in Fairmount.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Thompson Cook of Fairmount;
three daughters, Debra Jones of Cartersville, Teresa Barnett of Calhoun and
Sandra Bramlett of Fairmount; son, Brent Cook of Fairmount; one sister,
Grace Barnes of Jasper. Seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren,
several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Friday from Pleasant
Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church with remains placed in state at 2 p.m. Rev. Gene
Clark officiating. Music was provided by the Gospel Pilgrims. Pallbearers
were: Josh Young, Ted and Jeffery Townsend, Eddie Fountain, Marvin Serritt
and Andy Thurman. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Bobby Samples
Mr. Robert Lee (Bobby) Samples, age 46 of Jasper, passed away
unexpectedly at home Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001.
He is survived by his mother, Rachel Seay Samples, Jasper;
brothers, Tommy Samples of Jasper and Ronnie Samples of Lilburn; sister,
Charlotte Rary of Jasper. Nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service was held Thursday morning from the Chapel of
Chapman Funeral Home in Jasper with the Rev. Larry Reece officiating.
Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan, Ga.
Louise Thomas
Taylor Funeral Home, Fairmount Chapel, announces the death and
funeral service of Mrs. Louise Thomas, age 73 of Rydal, who died Thursday
afternoon, Jan. 4, 2001.
Mrs. Thomas was born Sept. 17, 1927 in Gordon County to the late
George and Lillian Greason Fite. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist
faith.
She is survived by her husband, T.H. Thomas of Rydal; daughter and
son-in-law, Gale and Rev. Autry Dean of Talking Rock; son and
daughter-in-law, Allen and Carolyn Thomas of Rydal; and sister, Lucille
Chastain of Rome. Five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also
survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Jerusalem
Baptist Church with the Revs. Autry Dean and Bobby Segars officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Rebecca Brookshire
Taylor Funeral Home, Fairmount Chapel, announces the death of Mrs.
Rebecca Elizabeth (Sallie) Brookshire, age 81 of Ranger, who died Friday
morning, Jan. 5, 2001 at Gordon Hospital in Calhoun.
Mrs. Brookshire was born June 6, 1919 in Jasper to the late William
Avery and Mary Elizabeth Hightower Hobgood. She was a homemaker and a
member of Mt. Paran Church of Jesus Christ in Calhoun. Mrs. Brookshire was
preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Clay Brookshire, and a son, James
Brookshire.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Jerry
Bagley, Acworth, Betty and Bobby Smith, Covington, Hazel and Bobby Bailey,
Doraville, and Debra and Dan Tarrant, Collinsville, Al.; sons and
daughters-in-law, Grady and Debbie Brookshire and Arvel Brookshire, all of
Lawrenceville, Mack and Mary Brookshire, Ray and Joyce Brookshire, Edward
and Carol Brookshire, Tim Brookshire and Steve and Betty Ann Brookshire,
all of Ranger, Wallace Jr. and Susan Brookshire, Plainville, Marvin and
Linda Brookshire, Calhoun; sister, Eunice Cloer, Chatsworth. Thirty-seven
grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter,
several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday from Taylor Funeral
Home, Fairmount Chapel, with the Rev. Freddie Craige officiating.
Pallbearers were: Billy, Robbie, Brian, Anthony, Richard, Micael and Wesley
Brookshire, Jared Bailey, Gene Smallwood and Scott Tarrant. Burial followed
in Heaven of Rest Memorial Park.
Jimmy Davis
Mr. Jimmy Davis, age 64 of Newborn, Ga., passed away Jan. 6, 2001
at his home.
Mr. Davis was a native of Newton County. He was self employed at a
body shop and wrecker service. He was an Air Force veteran and a member of
New Friendship Baptist Church in Waleska. Mr. Davis was preceded in death
by his father, James Dozier Davis Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley C. Davis, Newborn; sons, Kevin,
Joseph and John Davis, all of Waleska; daughters, Vickie Davis, Waleska,
Mrs. Kaye Ghorley, Canton, and Patricia Nelson of Jasper; mother, Mrs. Mary
A. Davis, Porterdale; brother, Mike Davis, Mansfield; sister, Mrs. Brenda
Turner, Covington. Eleven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also
survive.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. from the
Chapel of Harwell Funeral Home with the Revs. Randy Cloer and Earl Nelson
officiating. Interment was in Newborn Memorial Cemetery.
Jewel Brown
Mrs. Jewell M. Brown, age 76 of Jasper, passed away at a Woodstock
nursing home.
Survivors include a daughter, Eloise Childers, Jasper. Four
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday from Bethesda Baptist
Church with the Revs. Mike Byess, Roy Blackwell, Joey Phillips, Sherman
Westbrook and Dean Pugh officiating. Interment was in the Jerusalem Baptist
Church Cemetery.
