Mrs. Nancy Hughes, age 52, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002 at her home.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Hughes; father and mother, Clayton Jr. and Lois DeBoard; sister, Ruth Dean. Several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive.
The funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. from Refuge Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The Revs. Jerry Weaver, Larry Johnson and Cory Rich officiated. Pallbearers were: Larry and Leamon Hughes, David Gibson, Tommy Massey, Guy Chapman and David Chadwick. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Angel Ivey
Little Angel Ivey, age 4 months, passed away Dec. 19, 2002 at Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include her parents, Jim and Janet Stone of Jasper.
The funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 20 from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with interment following in Lake Forest Memorial Park in Jasper.

Mr. Kenneth Marvin Goss, age 61 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann Goss of Jasper; mother, Bessie Moore, Jasper; sons, Shawn and Zachary Goss, both of Jasper; brother, Rodrick Moore, Jasper; sister, Pam Zachary, Powder Springs; and four grandchildren, Joshua, Jasmine, Daniel and Zachary Goss Jr.
The funeral service was held Thursday, Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. from Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas officiating. Interment was in Norton Cemetery in Jasper. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Randall Childers
Mr. Randall Charles Childers Sr., age 60, passed away Dec. 22, 2002 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Childers, Hiram; sons, Randall Childers Jr., Dallas, Ga., and Christopher and Cheryl Childers of Sharpsburg, Ga.; daughter, Lisa and Jon Mattingly, Hiram; two sisters, Sybill B. Latham of Fairburn and Brenda McDavis of Maryland; two brothers, James and Trammell Childers, both of Hiram; mother-in-law, Evelyn Maxwell, Dallas; brother-in-law, Tommy Maxwell; sisters-in-law, Kathy Forsyth and Karen Tinney; stepson, Kenneth McBrayer. Nieces, nephews and many other family and friends survive.

Bobby Silvers
Mr. Bobby L. Silvers, age 58 of Marble Hill, passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002 at Mountainside Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Silvers, Marble Hill; one son, Luke Alvin Silvers, Marble Hill; three sisters, Barbie Sue Crook, Fairmount, Kimberly Jean Silvers, Jasper, and April LeAnne Silvers, Marble Hill; one brother, Bryan Keith Silvers, Nelson; one sister, Martha Ann McClure. Two grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. James Rich and Pastor Danny Duckett officiating. B.W. Stargel
B.W. Stargel, age 80 of Alcoa, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2002 at the family home. He retired from ALCOA as inspector/foreman from the North Plant. He attended Central Baptist Church in Alcoa. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.W. and Maude Stargel; and brother, Charles Wesley Stargel.
Survivors include his wife, Tinnie Lee Stargel; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Alice Stargel of Louisville, Tn. and Wayne and Ginny Stargel of Lake Forest, Il; daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and James Hunter of Acworth; brothers, Paul Stargel of Tate and Floyd Pendley of Maryville; grandchildren, Teri and Kevin Correll, Erin Hunter, Ryan and Brandi Stargel, Charlie, Matt and Sam Stargel; nieces and nephews, Jan Fox, Kenneth and Curt Stargel.

Florida Collins
Mrs. Florida Mae Collins, age 92 of Jasper, passed away Dec. 30, 2006 at Mountain Health Care in Jasper.
Survivors include a son, John Collins of Jasper; daughter, Mildred Gibson of Jasper; granddaughter, Christa Collins; and step-grandsons, William Gibson, Jr. and Dale Horner.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007 from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with interment in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Charles O. Walker officiated. Donations to your favorite charity or to Pickens Animal Rescue can be made in her honor.
Lee Turner
Mr. Lee Robert Turner, age 51 of Jasper, Ga., born Feb. 26, 1955, went home on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006 after an extended illness.
Mr. Turner is survived by his wife, Vicky Turner; mother, Evelyn Turner; daughters, Sabrina Turner and Christina and Allen Vananda; sons, Lee Robert Turner, Jr. (Spud) and David Morgan; grandchildren, Buddy Noland, Jr., Jaden Turner and Jasper Raven Vananda; brothers, Larry and Brenda Turner and Nathan and Marlene Turner; sisters, Fairy and Ronnie Poole, Mary and Vaughn Ortagus, Ann and Lee Pratt, Delona Griffin, Delta Turner and Gwyn Young. Numerous nieces and nephews who looked to him as a father also survive. He was wonderful, giving and loving in so many ways and will be missed, but celebrate until we can meet again.

Annie Richards
Annie Fox Richards of Attalla passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents, Colie and Susie Fox.
Mrs. Richards was a loving wife and mother and a wonderful grandmother. Sister to all, always there to help anyone in need.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, the Rev. Barbara Bruce
Mrs. Barbara Ann Bruce, age 62 of Jasper, passed away on Friday, Dec. 29, 2006 at Piedmont Mountainside Medical Center.
She was a dietician for Piedmont Mountainside. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Bruce was preceded in death by her son, David J. Bruce, and sister, Aline Casey.
Survivors include her sons, Michael and Richard Weaver, both of Jasper, Randall Weaver and Ronnie Bruce, both of Talking Rock; daughter, Jessica Reese of Jasper; mother, Bessie Dodd of Nelson; brothers, Edward Higdon of Ranger and Harold Higdon of South Carolina; sister, Pat Summey of Cartersville. Four half-brothers and three half-sisters, 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2007 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Summey officiating. Interment followed in Mica Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. J.D. Carver, age 71 of Talking Rock, passed away Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

Mr. Willard H. Sosebee, age 89 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Rowland Sosebee, Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Mary Sosebee, Dawsonville; daughters and son-in-law, JoAnn Dorsey and Joyce and Troy Evans, Jasper. Nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Helen Harder Masjoan, age 97 of Jasper and formerly of Schenertady, N.Y., passed away early Wednesday morning, Dec. 27, 2006 at Mountain Health Care in Jasper.
Survivors include her daughters, Margaret (Peggy) Clements, Jasper, and Barbara Minkler, Lakeland, Fl.; brother, Harold D. Harder II, Ithaca, N.Y.; grandson, David Clements, Jasper; and great-grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan Clements. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Barbara Lee Sergent, age 62 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006 at Tranquility Hospice in Austell, Ga.

Mr. Roy E. "Buddy" Hicks, age 65 of Jasper, passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2006 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Hicks, Jasper; father, Roy Hicks, Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Scottie and Danny Crowe, Sandy and Jay Carver and Susan Davis, all of Jasper; brother, Danny Hicks, Horseshoe Beach, Fl.; and grandchildren, Jenny Carver, Jodi and Sam Davis, all of Jasper. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Dec. 31 at 4 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Dr. Charlie Boggan and the Rev. Von Hinton officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Pickens Star Lodge #220 in charge of Masonic graveside services. The East Star chapter and members of Mrs. Hicks' Sunday School class also served in an honorary capacity. Pallbearers were: Rodney Gibson, Roy and Billy Williams, Grady Dean, David Barton, Tony Barreras, Donnie Ramsey and Keith Hicks. William Lee Spaugh, age 76 of Jasper and formerly of Atlanta, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday morning, Dec. 28, 2006.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Spaugh, Jasper; children, Philip and Linda Blackwell, Tucker, Ga., Andrew Spaugh, Scottdale, Ga., Carl and Jennifer Brooker, Roswell, Ga., Scott and Nancy Singleton, Stone Mountain, Ga., and Matthew and Kelly Spaugh, Clarkston, Ga. Seventeen grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.
