Georgia, U.S., Marriage Records From Select Counties, 1828-1978

Lula Cagle
Mrs. Lula Cagle, age 76 of Ball Ground, passed Saturday morning, Jan. 14,
2006 at Mountain Health Care in Jasper.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Connie Cagle,
Talking Rock; and daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Jackie Austin, Bent
Tree. Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. at Conns Creek
Baptist Church with the Revs. Steve Chadwick, Stacy Smith, Clyde Boling and
Roy Blackwell officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with
Stephen Gay, Stephen Austin, Patrick Spears, Robert Davis, Mike Parker, Cody
Cagle and Donald Ray serving as pallbearers. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.

Delores Wintgens
Mrs. Delores F. Wintgens, age 73 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Monday, Jan.
23, 2006.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Greene of Gainesville, Ga., Linda
Slone of Marion, Oh. and Karen Wilson of Jasper; brothers, Carl, Robert,
Gene, Ronald and Harry Piatt; and one sister, Betty Oldfield of Dallas, Ga.
Five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
also survive.
A graveside funeral service was held at Pine Ridge Memorial Park on
Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Pearce officiating.
Interment followed.

Gladys Bearden
Mrs. Gladys M. Bearden, age 93 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Wednesday,
Jan. 25, 2006 at Grandview Health Care in Jasper.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Allen Wallace, Jr., Eric and Jetta
Bearden; and brother, Frank Mullinax. Several nieces and nephews also
survive. Mrs. Bearden was preceded in death by a son, Wallace Bearden.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26 from the Chapel
of Roper Funeral Home with interment in Sharptop Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Revs. Eric Duncan and Barry Payne officiated. Roper Funeral Home was in
charge of the arrangements.

Daniel Ramey
Mr. Daniel E. Ramey, age 19, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Janice and Mathew Blackwell
of Dawsonville; father and step-mother, Glen and Mary Ann Ramey of Talking
Rock; step-mother, Cindy Brown; grandparents, Jeanette Howard, Clifford
Howard, Laneva Blackwell, Genita and Dean Ramey and Gene and Patricia
Palmer; brothers, Travis Ramey, Tony and Mathew Blackwell, Chris and Adam
Brown and Josh Howard; sisters, Shannon Ramey, Ashley Smith, Tiffany
Blackwell, Elania, Shelly and Kimberly Merrell and Angela Mulkey. Nieces,
nephews and cousins also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 from Yellow Creek
Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The Revs. Ben Howard
and Jeff Wilkie officiated. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Capitola Wigington
Mrs. Capitola R. (Cap) Wigington, age 91 of Jasper, passed Wednesday
afternoon, Jan. 25, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Charles Wigington,
Jasper, and Roy and Linda Wigington, Colorado; grandchildren, Joe Wigington,
Terri McGinty, Joy Przbyla, Jennifer King and Roy Jr. Wigington. Seven
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Calvin Ball and Larry Kelly
officiating. Interment followed in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery with
Richard Gaddis, Charles and Bob Stanfield, Jerry Higgins, Bradford and Sam
Russell serving as pallbearers.

Frances James
Mrs. Frances Marie Sanford James, age 73 of Yukon Road, Ellijay, Ga.,
Passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 22, 2006 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital in
Austell, Ga.
Mrs. James was born July 29, 1932 to her late parents, Burt Jerry and
Lona Maggie Barnes Sanford in Ellijay. She was a member of Pleasant Gap
Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Willie
Southerland of Jasper, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Nancy Sanford
of Seattle, Wa., Mitchell and Tracy James, both of Talking Rock;
grandchildren, Julie Rusqniak of Bowneylake, Wa., Angie Sanford of Renton,
Wa., and Monica Stove of Seattle, Wa.; three great-grandchildren; sisters,
Sarah Ann DeFoor of Fayetteville, Ga. and Geraldine DeFoor of Ellijay; and
brother, Edward Sanford of East Ellijay.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. from Logan
Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Billy Dotson, Emmett Burgess and Jerry Banks
officiated. Interment followed in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

Gregory Hyer
Mr. Gregory Hyer, age 50 of Jasper, passed Sunday afternoon at North
Fulton Regional Hospital, Roswell, as the result of a motorcycle accident in
Cherokee County.
Survivors include his father and his wife, Donald B. and Jean Hyer,
Florida; and sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Ray Payne, Jasper.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date and time.
The family asks that flowers be omitted and that memorials may be made to
the American Diabetes Association. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.

Grady Crowe
Mr. Grady Crowe, age 75 of Fairburn, Ga., passed Tuesday morning, Jan.
24, 2006 at Regency Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include his son, Miles Crowe, Ball Ground; daughter, Sandra
Hicks, Ball Ground; brother, Gene Crowe, Jasper; sisters, Bessie Ray,
Nelson, Virginia Morris, Canton, Gertrude Enis, Diane Godfrey and Margaret
Beck, all of Jasper, Barbara Stacy, Woodstock, and Glenda Crowe, Tate.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Barnum officiating. The family
requested that flowers be omitted and memorials made to Bethesda Baptist
Church, Nelson, Ga.

Abbie Daubs
Abbie R. Daubs, age 90 of Jasper, formerly of Decatur, passed away
Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006.
She is survived by son, Bobby and Betty Daubs, Jasper; daughter, Anita
and Danny Peterson, Sparta, formerly of Rockdale County; grandchildren, Dana
Peterson and Tracy Peterson, both of Sparta; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 3 p.m. at Decatur
City Cemetery with Carl Butch Butcher officiating.

Ollie Nix
Mrs. Ollie Nix, age 84 of Ball Ground, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2006
at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Pat Nix, Ball
Ground; grandchildren, Robert and Katrina Nix, Jasper, and Kim and Greg
Hamilton, Ball Ground; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Gracie Nix and
Nathan and Kinsley Hamilton.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Hamilton officiating. Interment
followed in the Ball Ground City Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Carroll Nix, Al
Fowler, Bud Presley, Joey Jones, Leon Williams, Marvin Young, Donnie
Lunsford and Rob Nix. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Kelley and Johnny
Parton. The family did accept flowers or donations can be made to Mountain
Health Care or a charity of your choice.

James Biddy
Mr. James H. Biddy, age 63 of Ball Ground, Ga., passed away Friday, Feb.
3, 2006 at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Biddy; son, Kenneth Biddy; daughter, Lynn
Collis; brothers, Horace, Randy and Richard Biddy; and sister, Brenda Edge.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7 from Fairview
Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery. The Revs.
Troy Davis, Russell Nations and Earl Wilkie officiated. Roper Funeral Home
was in charge of arrangements.

Charles Burton
Mr. Charles J. Burton, age 60 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Friday, Feb. 3,
2006 at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Rosie Burton; son, Joey Burton; brothers,
Johnny and Kenneth Burton; and sister, Ruth Merrett. Mr. Burton was preceded
in death by his parents, Buck and Geneva Burton.
The funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 6 from the Chapel of Roper
Funeral Home with interment following in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Revs. Jerry McClure and Gary Beard officiated.

Bob Hicks
Mr. Bob Hicks, age 85 of Ludville, Ga., passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2006
at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Ga.
Mr. Hicks was born Sept. 19, 1919 in Pickens County, son of the late Will
and Bertie Free Hicks. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Velma
Young Hicks on May 10, 2005.
Survivors include his daughters, Bonnie Hicks and Eva Lou Childers and
husband Eric, all of Ludville; and one grandson, Andy Childers of Ludville.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Max
Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Singing
was arranged by Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Townsend. Pallbearers were: Dirck Young,
Andy Burton, Michael Parker, Tom Shaw, Jimmy Sanders and Johnny Henson.
Interment was in East Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery.

Johnny Blanton
Mr. Johnny Randall Blanton, age 48 of Jasper, passed away on Monday, Feb.
6, 2006 at his residence.
Survivors include his brothers, Jimmy Blanton of Clayton Community and
Ricky Blanton of Jasper; and sisters, Barbara Sweat of Clayton Community and
Lynn Duckett of Jasper. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 from Sosebee
Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Padgett officiating.
Interment will follow in the New Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery.

Helen Lamphear
Mrs. Helen J. Lamphear, age 87 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4,
2006 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Tom Leyden,
Jasper; and brother, Ollie DuBois, New York. Seven grandchildren, 10
great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6 from the Chapel of
Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. John Reale officiating. Interment followed
in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Jasper. The family requests donations be made
to help with the funeral expenses.

Carold Howell
Mr. Carold Dean Howell, age 89 of Ball Ground, passed away on Saturday,
Feb. 4, 2006 at Northside Cherokee Hospital.
Survivors include his brother, Herbert R. Howell of Ball Ground; and
several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7 from Sosebee
Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Roy Blackwell and Clyde Boling officiating.

Josephine Jackson
Mrs. Josephine Jackson, age 78 of Ellijay, passed at her residence early
Monday morning, Feb. 6, 2006.
Survivors include her sons, Keith Jackson, Greenville, S.C. and Curtis
and Mike Jackson, both of Ellijay; daughters, Nancy Lively, Alpharetta,
Norma Ray, Free Home (Cherokee County), and Loretta Chastain, Ellijay;
brother, Bill Williams, Chatsworth. Ten grandchildren, 10
great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law and four sisters-in-law also
survive.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Long officiating. Interment
followed in Arbor Hill Baptist Church Cemetery (Pickens County) with Chad
Ray, Jeff and Jason Lively, Shayne Chastain, Jake Jackson and Rudy Tribble
serving as pallbearers.
