Mr. Richie Mitchell, age 35, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2006.

Centers; step-brother, Steven Mitchell; and brother-in-law and best friend,
Scott Centers.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8 from the
Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Bethesda

Vera Parker
Mrs. Vera M. Parker, age 85 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, March 2,
2006 at her residence.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred and Jimmy Sewell,
Diane and Jack Green and Faye Parker, all of Jasper; and a host of
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Roy Parker; son, James Parker; parents, Sherman and Mattie Hales;
sister, Bonnie Hales; and brother, A.J. Hales.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sharp Top Baptist
Church with the Revs. Daryl Bailey, Thomas Wheeler, Joey DuBois and Wallace
Sutton officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. The following
served as pallbearers: Brian Bates, Jack Godfrey, Jimmy Parker, Jim Fields,
Tim and Scrapper Sewell, Joey Fleming and Greg Duncan. Honorary: Ethan
Fields and Daniel Green. All preachers and deacons were honorary pallbearers

Master Shane Cantrell
Master Shane Cantrell, age 6 of Salacoa Highland, Jasper, passed away Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 at his residence. He is survived by his mother, Crystal Harris, Salacoa Highland; father, Joey Quick, Salacoa Highland; grandparents, Tommy and Gail Harris, Salacoa Highland, and Myrtle Quick, South Carolina; great-grandmother, Mary Ann Robertson, Ringgold, Ga. and Lucy Cantrell, Cartersville; great-great-grandmother, Fannie Gravitt, Cartersville; sister, Trista Ann Quick, Salacoa Highlands; cousin, LeAnn Thompson, Salacoa Highland. The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Wyatt officiating. Kathleen Deaver
Mrs. Kathleen Ann Deaver, age 47 of Morganton, Ga., passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2005 in the St. Joseph Medical Center in Atlanta following anextended illness with breast cancer. She was born in the Finger Lakes region of New York, but was raised south of Atlanta. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor¹s degree, a Master¹s degree and an Educational Specialist degree. While an undergraduate, she played in the Red Coat Band and sang and performed with several different choirs and ensembles. She has been a resident of Fannin County for 19 years where she has been a well-known and respected elementary teacher for 22 years at Mineral Bluff and Morganton Elementary schools and more recently at the Hill City Elementary in Pickens County. She also worked at the University of Georgia for three years. She was a very active member of the Bethel United Methodist Church serving in many offices, committees and Sunday School teacher over the years. She was well known for her singing voice and was the church organist. She was active in the American Cancer society, served on the Fannin County Fine Arts Council and as their past president. She also was past president and council member of the Eastside Health Clinic and was a member of several professional associations. She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Warren Deaver. She is survived by her husband, Orpheus E. Deaver, Jr. of the home; three children, Brett Samuel Deaver, Orpheus E. Deaver III (Trey) and Dawnn Gemella Deaver, all of the home; her mother, Laurette A. Joiner of Snellville, Ga.; father and step-mother, Verne M. and Brenda Wright of Mobile, Al.; brother, James E. Joiner of Snellville; sisters, Penny L. Sinclair of Stone Mountain, Ga. and Cynthia W. Murchland of Snellville; and many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was conducted Sunday, Feb. 27, at 5:30 p.m. from the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church with Revs. Joseph May and Ben Walker officiating. Ms. Odene Anderson, age 57 of Talking Rock, passed away Friday, March 4, 2005. Survivors include her brothers, Jimmy Carter of Taylorsville, Bobby Carter of Marietta and Danny Carter of Canton; sister, Modene Sells of Spartanburg, S.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Eugene Watson
Mr. Eugene Talmadge Watson, age 70 of Fairmount, Ga., departed this life Tuesday evening, March 1, 2005 at Gordon Hospital in Calhoun. Talmadge was born June 15, 1934 in Pickens County, the son of the late Elmer and Zona Stuart Watson. He was retired from Chemical Products Co. in Cartersville where he was a supervisor for over 36 years. He was a member of the Canaanland Christian Center in Adairsville. Survivors include his wife, Helen Watson of Fairmount; sons and daughter-in-law, Steve and Yvette Watson of Adairsville, Larry Watson of Calhoun and Travis Watson of Pennsylvania; daughters and son-in-law, Keri Carpenter of Cartersville and Traci and Bob Winters of Trucksville, Pa.; step-children, Annette Smith, Jerry and Loretta Smith, all of
Chatsworth, and Jackie Smith of Fairmount; brothers, Larry, Michael and Glenn Watson, all of Jasper, and Emory Watson of Blue Ridge; sisters, Marie Phillips of Calhoun and Elene Watson of Emerson; sister-in-law, Jewell Watson of Calhoun. Thirteen grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews also survive. Dee Beeson
Mrs. Dee Fraser Beeson passed away at her home on March 2, 2005. She was preceded in death by a son, James Fraser Beeson, and brother, Donald
Fraser. Dee was an active and devoted member of Jasper United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years and enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and the Friendship Force. Dee truly loved being a part of the Jasper community and her strength and spirit will be missed by many.Survivors include her husband, Jim Beeson; sister, Evy Taylor; brothers, Tom and Doug Fraser; daughters, Rebecca Johnston and Patricia Bancroft;
and five grandchildren, Caitlin and Clayton Johnson and Melissa, Kyle and Laurel Bancroft. Juanita Thacker
Mrs. Juanita Grace Carney Thacker, age 87 of McDonough, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the Sacred Journey Hospice. Mrs. Thacker was born August 22, 1917 in Pickens County, Ga., daughter of the late Elias Alred Carney and Mattie Clemmons Carney. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James Andrew Thacker. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Jimmy Ellington of McDonough and Sara and Joe Sansone of Alpharetta; sisters, Dean Hamby and Wilhmenia 'Pud' Peterson, both of Nelson, and Margie Cole of Marietta; sister-in-law, Frances Carney of Nelson; grandchildren, Eddie Ellington, Jill Palmer, Betsy Decater, Ricky Knowles and Joni Howard. Berla Troglin
Mrs. Berla Leora Troglin, age 91 of Brooks Hollow in Jasper, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2005 at her residence. Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Ernest, Eugene and Sharon and Verlon Troglin; daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Eugene Kent, Janie and Phillip Imbriano, Norma and Cary Owen and Louise and Ron Warren. Twenty-nine grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 8 in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home. Interment was in the Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery

Alice Owen
Mrs. Alice Owen, age 102 of Jasper, passed away Friday, March 4, 2005 at Mountain Health Care Center. Survivors include her sons, E.C. Owen, Ringgold, Ga., and Glenn Owen, Tennessee; daughters, Ozella McAfee, Parris Holt and Ethel Watson, all of Jasper, and Dot Medlin, Alabama; brothers, Corbit, Edison, Everett, Percy and Claude Potter, all of Alabama. Seventeen grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral service was held Sunday, March 6 at 2:30 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Jake Padgett, Randy Medlin and Norm Fields officiating. Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Ellese Womack
Ellese Dean Womack, age 81 of Jasper, formerly of Cartersville, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2005. Mrs. Womack was born Feb. 4, 1924 in Pickens County, daughter of the late Carl G. and Ora Lee Wilson Dean. She was a homemaker, a Red Cross volunteer and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Jimmy H. Moss of Woodstock, Michael and Carole Womack of Jasper and Anthony Womack of Adairsville. Two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Joan Sorrells; an infant son, James Robert
Womack, Jr.; and her brother, E.J. Dean. The funeral service was held Tuesday, March 8 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Dr. Don Hattaway officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were: Todd and Phil Dean, Billy, Elmer and Bus Womack and Kent Hicks.
Montine Bobo
Mrs. Montine Bobo, age 65 of Gainesville, Ga., formerly of Habersham County, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at her residence. Survivors include her sons, Eddie H. Ellison, Kennesaw, and Gary W. Ellison, Gainesville; brother, J.R. Wood, Clarksville; sisters, Rachel Franklin, Mildred Ann Garner, Shirley Hilton, Geraldine Ledford and Sue Wood, all of Clarksville. Eleven grandchildren also survive. Visitation was March 3 at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Gainesville. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 4 at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Jasper. Melvin Pettit
Mr. Melvin “Mel” Pettit, age 52of Canton, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2004. He was the assistant director of Facilities Engineering for Wellstar Health Systems and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Tracy Nelson Pettit, Canton; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Victoria King, Jasper; brothers and sisters-in-law, Claude and Allene Pettit and James Pettit, all of Canton, and Jerry and Ilene Pettit, Ellijay; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Junior Hagin, Canton; grandchildren, Christopher Michael, Joshua Daniel and Elizabeth Grace King, all of Jasper. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Otis Martin
Mr. Otis “Doc” Martin, age 77 of Canton, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Brian Center Nursing Home. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda Hancock, Canton; sons, Tom Martin of Canton and T.L. Martin of Ranger; sisters, Doris Stone of Talking Rock and Mildred Watkins of Elberton. Five grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service was held Friday, March 5 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Randy Cloer officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Eleanor Lees
Mrs. Eleanor Kannon Lees, age 87 of Ball Ground, formerly of River Ridge, La., passed away Sunday, March 7, 2004 at Mountainside Medical Center in Jasper. She was preceded in death by a son, Randolph Spencer Lees of New Orleans.
Survivors include a son, Walter Collins Lees, Albuquerque, N.M.; daughters, Rosemary Lees King, Ball Ground, and Cynthia Lees Lorr, New York; grandsons, Arthur Folse Lees, Albuquerque, and Christian Spencer Lees, New Orleans.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Marietta National Cemetery with Father Trawin Malone officiating. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Margaret Stone
Mrs. Margaret C. Stone, age 86 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2004 at Mountainside Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carter Stone, and two sons, Tommy and Billy Jo.
Survivors include sons, Jack and Elbert Stone, both of Jasper, and Robert Stone, Calhoun; daughters, Ruby Duckett, Susie Young, Mary Palmer and Bonnie Palmer, all of Jasper, Sandy Rafferty, Kennesaw, and Marjorie McDaniel, Ellijay. Twenty-two grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Bobbie Dowdy Young, age 68 of Sharpsburg, Ga., formerly of Jasper, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2004 at Southern Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her son, Weldon A. Lowe Sr., Sharpsburg; daughter, Sue Lowe Caylor, Newnan; step-daughters, Catherine Young Bullock and Karen Young; brothers, Eugene Dowda, Woodstock, and Jack Dowdy, Toccoa; sister, Louise Love, Orlando, Fl.; grandchildren, Christie Ryder, Chris Lowe, Heather Ryder Battersby, Jason Lowe and Joseph Caylor; and one great-grandchild, Mason Isaiah Battersby.

Bonnie Chastain
Mrs. Bonnie Chastain, age 77 of the Jerusalem Community, passed away Feb. 28, 2004 at Mountainside Medical Center in Jasper.
Survivors include her son, Eddie Chastain, Jasper; daughters, Rosie Burton, Jasper, Glenda Ridings, Betty Hamrick, Gail Queen, Barbara Melton, all of Ellijay, Tracy Brown, Dallas, and Charlene Bunch, Jerusalem Community; brother, Gene Goble, Ellijay; sisters, Jessie Chastain, Geraldine Parks and Charlcie Brewer, all of Ellijay. Thirty-one grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 2 from Hinton Baptist Church with the Revs. Ben Goble and Ivan Watkins officiating. Interment followed in the Hinton Community Cemetery. Denver Bruce
Mr. Denver Bruce, age 73 of Talking Rock, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2004 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Bruce, Talking Rock; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Lenise Bruce, Talking Rock; step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Jerimy and Mary Bruce, Jasper; brother, Ernest Bruce, Jasper. Four grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held Monday, March 8 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Hamilton officiating. Interment was in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Larry Austin, Frank McDaniel, Benny McCurry, Johnny Garrison, J.A. Whidby, Donnie Russell, Harold Evans and Larry Reece. Fannie Tippens
Mrs. Fannie Roland Tippens, age 93 of Waleska, passed away Tuesday, March
7, 2006 at her residence. She was retired from Tyson and a member of Free
Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Doris Ingram of Waleska; and sister,
Edith Sosebee of Tate. Four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and five
great-great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 10 from Free Hope
Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Ware officiating. Interment was in the church
cemetery under the direction of Sosebee Funeral Home.
Dean Hembree
Mr. Dean Hembree, age 89 of Canton, passed away on Thursday, March 9,
2006 at his residence. He was a retired farmer and member of Shiloh
Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Willia Menia Hembree of Canton; sons and
daughters-in-law, Pat and Linda Lawson and Billy and Pauline West, all of
Canton; grandchildren, Jenny and Shane Poole, Jeff and Shelley Lawson,
Junior and Sue West and Bobby and Vanessa West, all of Waleska; Amy and
Brian Stamey, Mike and Linda West, Chuck West and Donnie and Amber West, all
of Canton; and Laurie and Josh Rampley of Jasper. Eleven great-grandchildren
and two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11 from Sosebee
Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Roy Blackwell, Gary Kelley and Danny Hyatt
officiating. Interment followed in Shiloh Methodist Church cemetery.

Bobbie Crump
Mrs. Bobbie Jean Crump, age 59 of Talking Rock, passed away at her
residence Friday evening, March 10, 2006.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Crump, Talking Rock; sons, Michael
Jason Jones, Atlanta, and Jonathan Paul Jones, Talking Rock; brothers, Billy
Joe Wilson, Tunnel Hill, Ga., and Howard Wilson, Chatsworth; sister, Mary
Perry, Stockbridge, Ga.; and grandchildren, Ashley Marie Jones, Cherokee
County, and Dylan Isiah Jones, Talking Rock. Nieces and nephews also
survive. Mrs. Crump was preceded in death by a sister, Sheila Louise Wilson.
The funeral service was held Monday, March 13 at 2 p.m. from Ryo Baptist
Church (Gordon County) with the Revs. William Cline and James Shope
officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Billy Joe
Wilson, Paul Merritt, Richard Pacheco, Ryan Harper, Claude Bell and Randy
Cronan serving as pallbearers. Jams Hancock served as honorary pallbearers.

George New
Mr. George W. New, age 80 of Arbor Hills Trail, Talking Rock, Ga., passed
away Sunday, March 12, 2006 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include his wife, Christine New, of the home; son, Russell New,
Jasper; daughter, Karen Wyatt, Ball Ground; brothers, Charles and Douglas
New, both of Conyers; and sister, Mary Ellen McBroom, Douglasville. Five
grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 14 from the Chapel
of Roper Funeral Home with interment following in Floral Hills Memory
Gardens in Tucker with the Rev. Ben Langley officiating.
Howard Lowe
Mr. Howard Lowe, age 65 of Cumming, passed away Friday, March 10, 2006
from injuries sustained in an accident.
Born in Dawson County, he lived most of his life in Forsyth. Mr. Lowe was
a carpenter and member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was preceded in death
by his daughter, Robyn Lynn Lowe; and parents, Lindsey and Mary Lowe.
Survivors include his children, Dee Anna and Lynn Gregory and Darlene and
Andy Fowler, all of Ball Ground; sisters, Ernestine Rushing, Rome, Ga., and
Claudine Jones, College Park; brothers, Lindsey Lowe, Jr., Cumming, and Ray
Lowe, Smyrna; and grandchildren, Storm Chester, Roy Lee, Colton and Jason
Fowler. A number of other relatives also survive.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 15 at 4 p.m. at Sawnee
View Gardens with the Rev. Gwendell Gravitt and Mr. Harold Lowe officiating.
