Eileen LaSalle
Mrs. Eileen Susan LaSalle of Silver Fox Lane, Woodstock, Ga., passed away
Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.
Survivors include her husband, Mathew LaSalle of the home; son and
daughter-in-law, Keith and Joyce LaSalle of Jasper; and two grandchildren,
Diana and Faith LaSalle, both of Jasper.
Mrs. LaSalle’s body was cremated and no services are planned. If you
would like, you may make donations in her memory to Pickens Animal Rescue.

Leila Brown
The funeral service for Mrs. Leila Brown was held Friday, March 31, 2006
at noon from Wheat Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Harris,
pastor, eulogist. Interment followed in Westview Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown was a teacher at Tate Elementary and Tri-City School.
Survivors include her daughter, Yvonne Fortson; grandson, Al Fortson; and
nieces Leila Strapp and Vernitta Atkins.
Murray Brothers Cascade Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
George Ingram
Mr. George Ingram, age 71 of Round top in Gilmer County, passed away
Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at his residence.
Survivors include a son, Robert Ingram, Tennessee; three step-sons, David
Fowler, Round Top, James Hugh Fowler, Marble Hill, and Buddy Rutledge,
Alabama; daughter, Tresa Ingram, Texas; step-daughter, Gretta Black,
Woodstock; sister, Mary Jane Bunch, Kentucky. Several grandchildren also
survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 31 from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Jerry Black and Dwight Holcomb
officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Jasper. The
following served as pallbearers: Michael Pope, Josh Voman, Frank Cantrell,
Matt Brooks, Andy Pike and Allen Bridges.
Ronnie Brackett
Mr. Ronnie “RB” Brackett, age 48 of Ball Ground, passed away Thursday,
March 30, 2006 at his residence.
Survivors include his parents, Eddie and Loretta Brackett, Ball Ground;
grandmother, Zona Lee Haynes, Ball Ground; girlfriend, Tammie Densmore, Ball
Ground; sons, Shane Harris, Ball Ground, and Kevin Popham, Ellijay;
daughter, Ashley Elmore, Hoschton, Ga.; brothers, Randy and Freddy Brackett,
both of Ball Ground; sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Bobby Brooks,
Ball Ground, and Carrie and John Hillhouse, Jasper; granddaughter, Haley
Harris; and two God-children, Rose and Missy Venable. Six nieces and nephews
also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, April 2 at 2 p.m. from Yellow Creek
Baptist Church with the Revs. Ricky Dobson, Justin Haynes and Floyd
Blackwell officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers
were: Charlie Holden, Rodney Hyde, Jody Densmore, Dwayne Jordan, Terry
Haynes and Shannon Holden. Honorary pallbearers were: Jimmy Dobson, David
and Matthew Malone, Josh and Jason Haynes, Brett Kelly, James Garrett and
Robin Venable. The family did accept flowers or donations may be made to the
American Cancer Society.
Robert Tatum
Mr. Robert Buck Tatum, age 88 of Talking Rock, passed away Sunday, April
2, 2006 at Well Star Cobb Hospital in Austell, Ga.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sharon Tatum,
Louisville, Tn.; daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Bob Dickerson, Stone
Mountain, Teresa and Wayne Abernathy, Acworth, and Lynnette and George
Whitley, Cumming; sister, Nellie Solomon, Talking Rock; and grandchildren,
Rhonda and Robert C. Tatum and Brent Abernathy.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, April 4 at 2 p.m. from Pleasant
Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Long officiating. Interment was in
the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: J.D. Carver, Gene Jacobs, Keith and
Kevin Solomon, Jeff Palmer and Ernie Grimes. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.
Ollie Cagle
Miss Ollie Katella Cagle, age 87 of East Point, Ga., passed Wednesday
afternoon, March 29, 2006 at Brian Nursing Center in Canton, Ga.
Survivors include her brother, William Wendell Cagle, Ball Ground;
sisters-in-law, Georgia Marie Cagle, Ball Ground, and Imogene Cagle; nieces,
Cathleen Joy Brown, Carol Lynn Bonnono, Patricia Jean Jackson, Joan Marie
Rutledge and Lorie Anne Wooten; nephews, John Arnton, Robert Edward, Ralph
Norman, Jr. and William Lee Cagle.
The funeral service was held Friday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m. from the
Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Lowe officiating. Interment
followed in West View Cemetery in Atlanta with Lee and Ralph Norman Cagle,
Jr., Kelly Jackson, Haskell Renfroe, John Charles Wooten and Bradley
Rutledge serving as pallbearers.
Billy Bowles
Mr. Billy M. Bowles, age 79 of Ellijay, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2006
at his residence.
Survivors include his sons, Damon and Bart Bowles, both of Ellijay, Danny
Bowles, Canton, and Billy Bowles, Jasper; daughter, Carma Wallace, Holly
Springs; and sister, Ruby Lois Bowles, Smyrna. Seven grandchildren also
survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Chapel of Cagle
Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Bearden officiating. Interment followed in
Rolling Hills Cemetery in Acworth. Pallbearers were: Jerry, Larry and Joe
Wallace, Justin Bowles and Jack King.
William Potter III
Mr. William W. Potter III, MD, age 72 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Monday,
April 3, 2006 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Sue Lankford Potter, Jasper; sons
and daughters-in-law, Allen Potter and Amy Gette and Gary and Joan Potter,
all of State College, Pa., Tom and Carmen Potter, Spring Mills, Pa., William
W. Potter, Georgia, and Keith Auker, Morristown, Tn.; step-son, Brian Wolfe,
San Antonio, Tx.; daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Don Ware, Cumming, Ga.,
and Bronnie and Chris Spence, Murfreesboro, Tn.; sister and brother-in-law,
Bronson (Cissy) and Ron Turner, Islamorda, Fl. Fourteen grandchildren also
survive.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8 from the
Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Von Hinton officiating.
Lola Shirley
Mrs. Lola Belle Tillery Shirley of Fairmount passed away April 2, 2006 at
Sunbridge Rehabilitation Center in Cartersville following several years of
declining health. She was 96 years old.
Mrs. Shirley was born on June 30, 1909 in Pickens County, the daughter of
the late Walter and Casadonia Bunch Tillery. She was married to James Alvin
Shirley in 1938 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1980. Mrs. Shirley
was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Ludville and attended Pleasant
Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church near Fairmount.
Survivors include her daughters, Evelyn Mullinax of Fairmount, Betty
Mulkey, Kentucky, Jo Ann and Shelby Rasar, Chatsworth, and Elaine and Ira
Mason, Oakman; son, James Tillery, Alabama; sister and brother-in-law, Ella
and Rev. Clay Fountain, Fairmount. Twenty-three grandchildren, 44
great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other
relatives and friends also survive.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 5 from the
Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Hollis Crook
officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Pleasant Grove
Baptist Church Cemetery. Her great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers and
her grandsons as honorary pallbearers.
Maybell Painter
Maybell Painter, age 65 of Jasper, passed away Monday, April 3, 2006 at
her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Lumpkin County, she lived most of her life in Dawson County
before moving to Pickens three years ago. Mrs. Painter was a homemaker and a
member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her
husband, J.C. Painter; parents, Francis and Ester Rider; sisters, Evelyn
Rider and Lucille Davis; brothers, Clarence and Frank Rider and Lon Proctor;
and a great-granddaughter.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 5 at 2 p.m. from
Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Chadwick officiating.
Interment will be in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Broughton Bannister
Mr. Broughton Bannister, age 94 of the Yellow Creek Community (Ball Ground), passed away early Monday, April 5, 2004 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital-Austell.
Survivors include his wife, Jayne Bannister, Yellow Creek; sons and daughter-in-law, Marlon and Mary Gentry,Ball Ground, and Kenneth Gentry and future daughter-in-law Linda Cagle, Talking Rock; daughter, Blondine Bannister, Yellow Creek; brother, Clain Bannister, Smyrna; grandchildren, Adam and Stacy, David, Jason and Denise Gentry, Gail and Victor Franco, Kathy and Michael Pacheco; and great-grandchildren, Jessica and Austin Franco, Marissia and Lucino Pacheco, Haley and Brittney Phillips and Roger Green.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 8 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Roy Blackwell, Johnny Padgett and Gene Hyde officiating. Interment will follow in Mica Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites with the following serving as pallbearers: Adam, David and Jason Gentry, Michael Pacheco, Victor Franco and J.T. Annie Yates
Mrs. Annie Maude Yates, age 75 of Marble Hill, passed away Sunday evening, April 4, 2004 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Yates, Marble Hill; son and daughter-in-law, James and Donna Mercer, McDonough; daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Thomas Brittain, Sharpsburg, Jean and James Archer and Patricia and Amy Yates, all of Marble Hill; sister, Mrs. Stella Mae Fowler, Atlanta. Ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, April 7 at 2 p.m. from Arbor Hill BaptistChurch with the Revs. Phillip Padgett, Sanford Fountain, Greg Long and Phillip Ward officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Carl, Casey and Jerry Duckett, Phillip Ward, David and Tommy Jones serving as pallbearers. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Jimmy Goss
Mr. Jimmy R. Goss, age 65 of Jasper, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2004. He was a carpenter and of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Goss was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Truman and Edna Louise Duff Goss; and brothers, David and Robert.
Survivors include his sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Bill Crowe, Brenda Reece and Denise and Roger Williams, all of Canton, and Diane Mitchell, Jasper; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Barbara Goss, Woodstock. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, April 13 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with the Revs. James Rich and Chris Harper officiating. Interment followed in Bethesda Cemetery.
Shirley Davis
Mrs. Shirley Mae Davis, age 67 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Well Star Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.
Survivors include her sons, James Goins, Atlanta, Dale Davis, Jasper, and Dean Davis, Ellijay; daughters, Linda Massey, Columbia, S.C., and Debbie Davis, Jasper; brothers, Willie L., Kermit, Charlie, Winda and Delton Patrick, all of Bolton, N.C., Willie N. Patrick, Council, N.C., and Emanuel Patrick, Leland, N.C.; sisters, Reba Roberson, Douglas, Ga., Annie V. Graham and Lottie R. Jacobs, both of Bolton, Lynn Kilgore, Winston, Ga., Veda Young and Frances Mitchell,both of Lake Waccamaw, N.C., and Norma Ann Braboy, Council. Four grandchildren also survive.

Viney Hendrix
Mrs. Viney Beatrice Chastain Hendrix, age 79 of Ranger, Ga., passed away Saturday, April 10, 2004 at her residence following a sudden illness.
Mrs. Hendrix was born July 20, 1924 in Pickens County, the daughter of the late Buddy Jim and Della Hightower Chastain. She had spent the greater part of her lifetime in Gordon County and enjoyed outside activities, gardening and gospel music. Mrs. Hendrix was preceded in death by her husband, Lenard A. Hendrix in 1969, and by a son, Marshall in 1998.
Survivors include her sons, Kenneth, Marvin and Renith Hendrix, all of Ranger, and J.L. Hendrix of Cassville, Ga.; daughter, Margie Lee Duvall of Ila, Ga.; sister, Othell Chastain of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; brother, General Chastain of Chickamauga, Ga. Eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, April 12 at 2 p.m. from Bradley Anderson Memorial Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Singing was arranged by the Hendrix Family. Interment followed in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Pickens County with the Rev. G.W. Shaw in charge of the graveside rites.
Sgt. David Collins
Sgt. David Samuel Collins, age 24 of Jasper, Ga., passed away April 9,
2006.
He is survived by his wife, Mara Collins, Fort Campbell, Ky.; parents,
Sammy and Tammy Collins, Talking Rock, and Lynn and Brian Dean, Jasper; son,
James Collins, Fort Campbell; daughter, Elizabeth Collins, Fort Campbell;
grandparents, Jack and Ann Collins, Talking Rock, and Shirley Herndon,
Marble Hill; great-grandparents, Evelyn Parker, Jasper, and Edris Gilreath,
Dawsonville; brother, Chris Collins, Jasper; sisters, Johnson Collins,
Talking Rock, and Kassie Dean, Jasper; mother and father-in-law, Teresa and
Dan Mahns, Augusta, Me.; brother-in-law, Brendan Mahns, Augusta, Me. Several
aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 20 from the
Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Brian Dean and Larry Kelley
officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Jasper.

Fund at Jasper Banking Co. or Crescent Bank.
Edward Prather
Edward Frazer Prather, age 88, passed April 10, 2006.
Born in Jasper, Ga., he was the son of the late Lee and Gladys Frazer
Prather. Mr. Prather was a US Army veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict.
Following his graduation from the University of Georgia, he taught
agriculture at Colbert High School for several years before farming full
time. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in
Danielsville.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Prather; children, Virginia Sorrow
(Leslie) of Athens, Emily Smith (DeWitt) of Watkinsville, Mary Ann Simmons
(Dennis) and Paul Prather (Rebekah), all of Colbert, and Sally Simmons
(Bruce) of Market Tree, Ar.; grandchildren, Lana and Tyler Simmons; and
brother, Loyd Prather of Jasper.
A memorial service was held Saturday, April 15 at 2 p.m. from the Kingdom
Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. A private burial was in the Eberhart Cemetery
on the Prather Family Farm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Lord and Stephens, Danielsville, in
charge of arrangements.
