Mrs. Jamie Densmore Harper, age 20 of Ball Ground, Ga., passed away on
Tuesday, April 11, 2006.
Jamie was a waitress for Cracker Barrel in Canton. She was a student at
Medix School in Smyrna and a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ryan Harper, Ball Ground; son, Landon
Harper, Ball Ground; mother, Tammie Densmore, Ball Ground; father, Randall
Densmore, Ball Ground; brother and sister-in-law, Jody and Alison Densmore,
Ball Ground; sisters, Brittany Densmore, Ball Ground, and Peggy Densmore,
Ellijay; grandmothers, Helen Densmore, Jasper, and Lou Ella Pressley, Yellow
Creek; in-laws, Lisa and Ricky Reece, Ball Ground, and Todd and Dana Harper,
Gainesville. A host of aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15 from Canton
First Baptist Church with the Revs. Doug Lusk, Sam Rothermel and Tommy
Padgett officiating. Entombment was in Lake Forest Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Sue Murphy
The funeral service for Sue Murphy, age 84 of Jasper, formerly of
Piedmont, Al., were Sunday, April 16, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral
Home in Piedmont. Burial followed in Highland Cemetery in Piedmont. Mrs.
Murphy died Friday, April 14 at Grandview Health Care Center in Jasper. She
was a native of St. Clair County, Al. and and was a member of First Baptist
Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Freda Trammell and her husband John of
Jasper; grandson, Jarold Trammell of Jasper; sister, Geraldine Miller of
Melrose, Fl.; brother, Hubert Savage of Pell City, Al. Several nieces and
nephews also survive.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
Margaret Hooker
Mrs. Margaret Hooker, age 62 of Chatsworth, went to be with the Lord on
Saturday, April 15, 2006. She was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine
Morgan; her father, Charlie Gibson; and an aunt, Bessie Sherrill.
Survivors include her husband, John Hooker of Chatsworth; aunts and
cousins, Annie Baxter, Betty Jo Pack of Cleveland, Tn., Mildred Brenam of
Ringgold, Ga.; nieces and nephews; special friends, Arnold and Lynda Flood,
Larry, Lisa and Aaron Wilson, Lamar and Lynda Flood and Stella McCamy, all
of Chatsworth, Carroll and Connie Holbrook of Ellijay, Ga. and Mamaw
(Zennlee) Patterson; special cousins, Harold and Lynn Hulett of Cisco, Ga.;
special aunt, Tressie Moore of Old Fort, Tn.; brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law, Melvin and Annette Hooker, J.B. and Frances Hooker, Marie

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 23 at 3 p.m. from the
Chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Carroll Holbrook officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on April 23 from 1 until
the funeral hour at 3.
Mattie Cornett
Mrs. Mattie Fay Cornett, age 69 of Talking Rock, passed away Thursday,
April 13, 2005 at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.
Survivors include her son, Edward Cornett, Stone Mountain; daughter,
Brenda Bruce, Talking Rock; sisters, Ruby Waldrop, Douglasville, Barbara
Clayton, Red Top Mountain, and Dorothy Newton, Atlanta. Eight grandchildren,
seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Cornett; and three sons,
Robbie Lee, Gene and Kenneth.
The funeral service was held Monday, April 17 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home. Interment was in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Jeff Bruce, Ricky Henson, Michael Hudson, Jessie and
Steven Cantrell, David Franklin, Ronnie Palmer and Jason Johns.
Frankie Hewatt
Mr. Frankie Hewatt, age 57 of Jasper, formerly of Stone Mountain, passed
away April 13, 2006 at North Fulton Regional Hospital in Roswell.
Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Todd and Laura Hewatt,
Kings Mountain, N.C., Shawn and Ty Hewatt, Georgia; brother-in-law, James
Wofford, Lake City, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Norman Mulkey,
Jasper. Three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service was held Monday, April 17 at 11 a.m. from Bethany
Baptist Church Cemetery in Snellville, Ga. with the Rev. Herman Mulkey
officiating. Pallbearers were: Jimmy and Michael Wofford, Jerry Gay, Ricky
and Jimmy Cofflin and Gaines Ruchton. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of
the arrangements.
Richard Grotefend
Mr. Richard Grotefend, age 80 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, April 13,
2006 at the Brian Center in Canton. He was a past member of the Pickens
County Rescue Squad, a past member of the Lions Club and a member of the
Gooney Birds Flying Club.
Survivors include his wife, Telete Grotefend, Jasper; son and
daughter-in-law, Scott and Nancy Grotefend, Huntsville, Al., daughter and
son-in-law, Chrissie and Jerry Smith, Acworth. Three grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, April 17 at 11 a.m. from Jasper
United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles O. Walker officiating.
Interment was in Jasper City Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Mark Medlock, Leon
Williams, Wallace Reece, Edward Johnston, Mike Setser and Jeff Hankey. The
family did accept flowers or donations may be made to the Post Polio
Society. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Madeline Prather
Mrs. Madeline H. Prather, age 91 of Jasper, passed away April 12, 2004 at the Blue Ridge Health Care in Fannin County.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 15 from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Max Caylor and Herb Flanders officiating. The intermentfollowed in the Jasper City Cemetery.
Bertie Ryder
Mrs. Bertie Ora Belle Norton Ryder, age 89 of Jasper, passed away April 11, 2004 at Mountainside Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. T. “Jake” Ryder; and sons, Wayne and Larry Ryder.
Survivors include her sons, Tommy Ryder of Marble Hill, and Terry Ryder of New Egypt, N.J.; daughter, June Gilbert of Jasper. Twelve grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 14from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Cook officiating. Interment followed in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The following served as pallbearers: Doug Ryder, Gabe Duckett, Billy Gilbert, John Gerrard, Scott and Russell Pendley.
John Blackwell
Mr. John Hyman “J. H.” Blackwell, age 60 of Ball Ground, passed away April 15, 2004 at Northside Hospital Cherokee. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Blackwell; sister, Doris Kent; and brother, Wesley Blackwell.
Survivors include his sons, Ronnie Lathem, Dennis and Michael Ponders, Jeff and Jeremy Blackwell; daughter, Angie Ponders; mother, Edith Blackwell; brothers, Wayne, Ronald and Kevin Blackwell; sisters, Debra and Eddie Jones, Trudy Totherow, Francis Smith, Tammy and Dawn Blackwell. Three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18 from Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with the Revs. Gene Hyde, Bobby Trammell and Frank Lathery officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The following served as pallbearers: Danny Darby, Randall Fowler, Keith Brown, Curtis Elliott, Brannon Smith and Scotty Blackwell. Honorary pallbearers were: Justin Jones and Jody Bell. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Cayce Woodward
Mr. Cayce Eugene Woodward, age 34 Fairmount, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at his residence.
Mr. Woodward was born August 11, 1969 in Fulton County, son of Paul Eugene and Patsy Ruth Townsend Woodward. During his lifetime, he was an avid hunter, an employer of N.J. Wilbanks Construction co. and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Jessica Woodward, Jasper; parents, Paul and Janice Woodward and Patsy Woodward and Eddie Bryant; brother, Jonathan Woodward of Fairmount; grandparent, Wyolene Townsend of Fairmount; step-children, Shannon Silvers, Andrea Blackman, Anna Marie Parker, Eric Vaughn Bryant, Charles Parker and Annie Bryant. Aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
The funeral service was held Friday at 2 p.m. from Salacoa Baptist Church with the Rev. Hoyt Jones officiating. Singing was arranged by Sally Jones and Debbie Hamby. Active pallbearers were: Gary Fowler, Eddie Anderson, Jeff Turner, Shawn Kittle, Kirk and Jody Townsend. Honorary pallbearers were: N.J. Wilbanks Construction Co. J. B. Richards
Mr. J. B. Richards, age 45 of Ellijay, passed away Monday, April 12, 2004. He was born July 24, 1958 in Pickens County, son of Bessie Chastain and the late Carl Richards. He worked in the heat and air business.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Dale Richards of the home; children, Billy Joe Hagin and Joseph Brian Richards, both of Ellijay, Myra Adams and LaMarissa Mae Baker, both of Dalton; four grandchildren, Gunner and Kindra Hagin, Natalie Richards and Justin Baker; mother, Bessie Richards, Ellijay; brothers, Kenneth, Lamar and Darrell Richards, all of Ellijay; sisters, Marcelle Smith, Talking Rock, Faye Richards and JoAnn Jones, both of Ellijay.
The funeral service was held Tuesday at 5 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Bro. Ronald Guffey officiating. Music was by Kim Maxwell. Pallbearers were: Lendford Dale, Eric Smith, Lewis Bramlett, Michael Priest, James Thomas and David Totherow. Interment was in Flat Creek Church Cemetery.
Annie Yates
Mrs. Annie Maude Yates, age 75 of Marble Hill, passed away Sunday evening, April 4, 2004 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Yates, Marble Hill; son and daughter-in-law, James and Donna Mercer, McDonough; daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Thomas Brittain, Sharpsburg, Jean and James Archer and Patricia and Amy Yates, all of Marble Hill; sister, Mrs. Stella Mae Fowler, Atlanta. Ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, April 7 at 2 p.m. from Arbor Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Phillip Padgett, Sanford Fountain, Greg Long and Phillip Ward officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Carl, Casey and Terry Duckett, Phillip Ward, Davey Jones and Tommy Fowler serving as pallbearers. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Homer Howard
Mr. Homer “Fuzz” Howard, age 73 of Jasper, passed away April 16, 2004 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Mary “Cooter” Howard, Jasper; sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny Homer and Karen Howard, Acworth, Kenneth Jr. and Connie Howard, Keith Mickey and Rachael Howard and Teddy Doyle and Telena Howard, all of Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn Louise and Ray Hazelwood, Cartersville, and Deborah Lynn and Harold Tidwell, Adairsville; brothers, Jack, Ernest, Clifford, George and Faye, all of Jasper, Billy and Ben Howard Jr., both of Dawson County; sisters, Stella Mae Mulkey, DawsonCounty, Joann Hayes, Jasper, Jenny Harmon, Marble Hill, and Lois Howard Brett, Canton. Twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, April 19 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Ben Howard Jr. officiating. Interment was in Lake Forest Memorial Park. Pallbearers were: Jimmy, Terry, Kevin and Adam Howard, Sean Spratt and Timothy Hicks.
Gladys Eubanks
Gladys Eubanks of Atlanta passed away April 11, 2004 at her residence.
Family, teaching and travel were the great loves of her life. She received her BA degree from Georgia State College for Women and an MA in Education from Emory University. She taught briefly in Bremen and Marietta before beginning an extensive career with the Atlanta Public School System. Seventh grade was her favorite class at Goldsmith for almost 20 years until she became principal of Key Elementary in 1962. From 1963 until 1973 she was principal of Lucky Street Elementary.
Ms. Eubanks then was principal of Bolton Elementary from which she retired in 1976 when the school was closed. At that time, she retired from the Atlanta system and taught in a private Morningside school for five years. Her love of education and the joys of teaching made her a valued member of the Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a Society of Women in Education. After retirement, Ms. Eubanks continued her love of travel with trips to Europe, Egypt, Hong Kong and Japan. During this time, she lived with her extended families, the Kendrick sisters and Sarah Bradshaw, for whom she supplied loving care until their deaths.
Ms. Eubanks was the daughter of John Martin and Ella Louvenia Clark Eubanks, one of 14 children.
Survivors include sisters-in-law, Bill and Helen Eubanks; 14 nieces; 13 nephews; 56 great-nieces and nephews; and 53 great-great-nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at 11 a.m. from Cool Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Clay Stalnaker and Rev. Eddie Martin officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Ronnie, Mark, Rich, Randy and Frank Eubanks, Billy Cagle, Phillip Sperin and Charlie Miller serving as pallbearers. Flowers were accepted or contributions may be made to the Cemetery Fund at Cool Springs Baptist Church in Tate. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
James Dean
Mr. James Marvin Dean, age 73 of Talking Rock, Ga., passed away at the
Mountain Health Care in Jasper.
Survivors include his sons, Rodney and Randy Dean; daughter, Rhonda
Harris; and brother, Stanley Dean. Six grandchildren and one
great-grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2006 from the
Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with interment in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with
Rev. Jerold Brown officiating.
Lloyd Chapman
Mr. Lloyd O. Chapman, age 91 of Nelson, Ga., passed away on Wednesday,
April 19, 2006 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. He was a self-employed
carpenter, a member of Four Mile Baptist Church and the E.W. Hightower
Masonic Lodge #679.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Chapman of Nelson; step-sons and
daughters-in-law, Phil and Jane O’Bryant of Jasper and Eddie and Nancy
O’Bryant of Cumming. Seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his
son, David Chapman.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 22 from the
Bethesda Baptist Church with the Revs. Barry Payne, Wendell Thompson and
Frank Young officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Russell Powell
Mr. Russell Chalmers Powell, age 40 of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away April
17, 2006 at Memorial Hospital. He was born in Decatur County, Ga., but had
lived in Bainbridge most of his life. He was of the Baptist faith, a
construction worker and he loved to fish.
Survivors include daughters, Geri Melissa Chason, Jasper, Ga., and
Katelyn Elizabeth Powell, Bainbridge; sisters, Tina (Philip) Richardson and
Tammy (Darren) Deal, all of Bainbridge; brothers, Wesley (Kriss) and Randy
Powell, all of Bainbridge, and David D. (Buster) (Belinda), Brinson, Ga. One
grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, April 19 at 11 a.m. from Cox
Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Paul Medley and Earl Barron officiating.
Pallbearers were: Wesley, Randy and Buster Powell, Darren Deal, Philip
Richardson and Chris Harrell. Interment was in Oak City Cemetery. Donations

Jeanette Hollifield
Mrs. Jeanette Faye Hollifield of Jasper, Ga. passed away Monday, April
18, 2005 at her home.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Richard Lee and Teresa
Hollifield and Chris Hollifield, all of Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law,
Becky and Stuart Prescott of Talking Rock, Betty Jean and Mark Henderson and
Tracy and Danny McFarland, all of Woodstock; step-son and daughter-in-law,
Dennis and Donna Hollifield of Marble Hill; step-daughters and sons-in-law,
Patricia and Jeffery Payne of Talking Rock, Elizabeth Harvley of Marble Hill
and Dixie and Tim Grove of Jasper; brothers, Terry McBee of Jasper, Larry
McBee of White, Ga. and Felix Jr. McBee of Panama City, Fl.; sisters,
Barbara Arp of Jasper, Ann Silvers of Cartersville, Debbie Hair of Benton,
Tn. and Sandra McBee of Tennessee. Seventeen grandchildren, two
great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 22 from the
Chapel of Roper Funeral Home. Interment followed in Crossroads Baptist
Church with the Revs. Michael Silvers and Joe Dover officiating. Pallbearers

Hollifield.
