Robert Bryant, Sr.
Mr. Robert L. “Bobby” Bryant, Sr., age 63 of Fairmount (formerly of
Cherokee County) passed away Friday, April 22, 2005. He was a retired fork
lift operator and a member and Deacon of Carmel Baptist Church in Woodstock.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Bryant, Fairmount; son and
daughter-in-law, Robert L. and Glenda Bryant, Jr., Fairmount; daughters and
sons-in-law, Lori Ann and Dwayne Roderick, Cartersville, and Susan Annette
and Steven McDonald, Fairmount; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Doris
Bryant, Ball Ground; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Frances and Phil
Lodota, Tampa, Fl.; grandchildren, Robert L. Bryant III, John Bryant, D.J.
and Tyler Roderick and Ray McDonald. Several nieces and nephews also
survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 24 from Carmel
Baptist Church with the Revs. Richie Gibbs and Truman Pyles officiating.
Interment followed in the church cemetery. South Canton Funeral Home and
Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Ann Moore
Mrs. Mary Ann Morris Moore of Jasper, formerly of East Point, passed
away April 15, 2005.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Don Moore of Jasper; sons,
Kerry and Sandra Moore of Powder Springs, and Keith Moore of Jasper;
daughter, Donna and Terry Scott of Sharpsburg; brother, Carl Morris of
Sharpsburg. Four grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service was held Saturday, April 23 at 4 p.m. in the Chapel
of Carmichael-Hemperley with the Rev. Herb Flanders officiating. Those who
desire may make contributions to Jasper United Methodist Church, 85 W Church
St., Jasper, Ga. 30143.
Flondell Cagle
Mrs. Flondell Cagle, age 71 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Monday, April
25, 2005 at Wellstar-Kennestone Hospital.
Survivors include her son, Doog Cagle, Jasper; stepson, Jimmy R. Cagle,
Jasper; brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Evelyn Wilkie, Tate, and Ed
and Joe Wilkie, Trenton, Ga.; and one sister, Edna Beasley, Tate.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 27 from the
Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Earl Wilkie and Johnny McPherson
officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: David Bruce, Tom Hulsey, Ricky Cox, Danny Beasley, Tinker
and Jim Moore.
Diane Stone
Mrs. Diane Stone, age 53 of Big Canoe, Jasper, Ga., passed away Sunday,
April 24, 2005 at her residence.
She is survived by her husband, William Stone, Big Canoe; sons and
daughters-in-law, Kevin and Pam Stone, Gainesville, Ga., and Troy and
Elizabeth Stone, Marietta, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Hudson and Olivia
Stone.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 27 from Jasper
First Baptist Church with Dr. Charlie Boggan officiating. Interment followed
in Big Canoe Cemetery. The following served as pallbearers: Francis
Holladay, Al Shira, Bill Wilson, Rob Hampel, Milt Wilson and Dean Kelley.
Honorary pallbearers were the Fellowship Sunday School Class. The family did
accept flowers or donations may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer
Foundation. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ronnie Coker
Mr. Ronnie Coker, age 53 of Tate, passed away Monday, April 25, 2004 at
Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Coker, Tate; sons and
daughters-in-law, Bobby and Barbara Coker, Jasper, Brian and Darlene Coker,
Hinton Community, and Chris Coker, Tate; daughter and son-in-law, April and
Roger Marlow, Tate; brother, Tommy Coker, Bremen, Ga.; sisters, Terri Ruth
Potts, Dawsonville, Sue Samples and Sheena Licering, both of Cumming, Linda
Cracker, Jasper, Karen Miller, Canton, and Tammy Emory, Whitestone. Eight
grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 27 from the
Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Carl Owenby, Emory Samples and
Tommy Picklesimer officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial
Gardens. Pallbearers were: Eugene Aaron, Doug Eaton, Jimmy Lee, Roger Emory,
John Bennett, Larry Samples, Michael Ponders and Jeremiah Beck. Honorary
pallbearer was Jerry Mewborn.
Phillip Barrett
Mr. Phillip F. Barrett, age 85 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Tuesday, April
25, 2006 at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Kate Barrett, of the home; and daughter,
Teresa Peardon. Four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also
survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 28 from the Chapel
of Roper Funeral Home with interment in Jasper City Cemetery. The Revs.
Charles O. Walker and David LaGrand officiated.
Ruth Logan
Mrs. Ruth Seay Logan of Tate, Ga. passed away at Wellstar Kennestone
Hospital in Marietta, Ga. on Thursday, April 27, 2006.
Survivors include her sons, Russ and Douglas Little; brothers, Vernon and
Hulon Seay; sisters-in-law, Mary, Pearl and Helen Seay. Four grandchildren
also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30 from the Chapel
of Roper Funeral Home. Interment followed in Ball Ground City Cemetery with
the Rev. Phillip Padgett officiating.
James Eubanks
Mr. James Edward Eubanks, age 82 of Acworth, Ga., passed away Wednesday,
April 26, 2006 at Beverly Kennestone in Marietta.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Eubanks, Acworth; daughter and
son-in-law, Terese and Wayne Gates, Kennesaw; brother, Paul Eubanks, Jasper;
grandchildren, Cristian and Jesse Franklin, Steven Wayne Gates, Jr. and
Mallory Catlin Gates.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29 from the Chapel
of Roper Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Corinth Baptist Church
Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Lockhart officiating. Donations may be made to
the Asere Care Hospice of Atlanta.
Pastor Allen Ayers
Paster Allen E. Ayers, age 86, founder and Pastor Emeritus at Fellowship
Christian Center in Smyrna, of the Hinton Community and formerly of Smyrna,
passed Tuesday afternoon, April 25, 2006 at Grandview Health Care Center in
Jasper.
Survivors include his wife, June Ayers, Hinton; sons and
daughters-in-law, Lane and Dinky Ayers, Buchanon, Ga., and Terry and Linda
Ayers, Pensacola, Fl.; daughter and son-in-law, Willene and Jerry McClure,
Hinton; brother, Jimmy Ayers, Harlington, Tx. Thirteen grandchildren and 29
great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Friday, April 29 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Bob Self, Jackie Sanders and Eugen
Holder officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with
Local Chapter #47 in charge of graveside services. Pallbearers were:
Russell, Victor, Rodney and Anthony Ayers, Greg McClure, Jamie and Dana
Walker.
Theodore Childers
Mr. Theodore R. Childers, age 95 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, April
29, 2006 at his residence.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Horace and Betty, Harley
and Janice and J.T. and Kathy Childers, all of Jasper; daughters and
sons-in-law, Doris and John Tawzer, Marietta, Eloise and Danny Weaver, Rocky
Face, and Betty Emory, Jasper; sister-in-law, Estelle Childers, Jasper.
Twelve grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 1 from Jerusalem
Baptist Church with the Revs. Gene Childers, Buddy Roper and Terry Dean
officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Grandsons served as
pallbearers: Richard Hogeboom, Doug, Roger, Dwight, Scott, Greg and Mark
Childers, Sam Weaver and Jonathan Tawzer. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge
of the arrangements.
Hallene Huddlestun
Mrs. Hallene Huddlestun, age 75 of Waleska, passed away at her home April
29, 2006. She was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Fellowship Church,
retired Cherokee County School teacher, member of AARP, Jubalheirs Choir,
Cherokee County Choral and active in community affairs.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. J.R. Huddlestun, Waleska;
daughter, Joy Huddlestun, Canton; son, Carey Huddlestun, Atlanta; grandson,
John Huddlestun, Atlanta; sisters, Aena Mae Beavers, Blue Springs, Mo.,
Angele Lee, San Antonio, Tx., Lois Cole, Bergerman, Arkansas, and Sue Tobin,
Leewood, Ks.
A memorial service was held from Heritage Baptist Fellowship Church on
Tuesday, May 2. Entombment was in Cherokee Memorial Park Mausoleum with the
Rev. Kenneth Hagg, Drs. Russell Bennett, Jack Colwell and Jim Martin
officiating. Sosebee Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
James Beeson
Jan. 23, 1917-April 21, 2005
James Farr Beeson, devoted husband, father and grandfather,
Passed away on April 21, 2005 at his daughter's home in McMurray, Pa.
Born on Jan. 23, 1917 in Henegar, Al., Jim attended the
University of Alabama, attaining Bachelor's and Master's degrees in
Civil Engineering in 1938 and 1939 respectively. He taught at the
University of Alabama in Civil Engineering from 1938 to 1940. From
1940 to 1943 Jim served on the Panama Canal Commission, constructing
the Third Locks. He served in the Seabees, 8th Naval Construction
Brigade Staff, US Navy from 1943 to 1946. From 1946 to 1977 Jim was
employed by Cunningham-Limp Co., serving as vice president and
general manager of the Southeastern Division. In 1977 until his
retirement in 1983, Jim was president and treasurer of the Glengarry
Construction Co. He held Professional Engineer registration in 21
states, was a member of the Capstone Engineering Society and Tau Beta
Pi, University of Alabama. Jim was an Honorary Adjunct Professor at
the University of Alabama and a Fellow of the American Society of
Civil Engineers.
Jim was an active member of the Jasper United Methodist
Church in Jasper, Ga., and enjoyed singing in the choir. He had been
a member of the Rotary Club, aiding in the construction of the Hope
House. Jim and his wife, Dee, enjoyed many years of involvement in
the Friendship Force. He loved nature, people and traveling. His
sincere, friendly manner and ready smile will be missed by many.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Dee Fraser Beeson;
son, James Fraser Beeson; brothers, Frank Hunsaker Beeson and John
Justice Beeson. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Johnston and
son-in-law, Clayton Johnston, and their children, Caitlin Justice
Johnston and Clayton James Johnston of Pickens County, Ga.; and by
his daughter, Patricia Bancroft and son-in-law, Bruce Bancroft, and
their children, Melissa, Kyle and Laurel Bancroft of McMurray, Pa.;
and by his niece, Brenda Johnson of Birmingham, Al.
A memorial service is planned for May 28 at two o'clock at
the Jasper United Methodist Church. All friends and family are
invited.
Contributions may be made to the Bus Ministry at Jasper
United Methodist Church in Jim's memory.
Ronnie Coker
Mr. Ronnie Coker, age 55 of Tate, passed away Monday, April
25, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Coker, Tate; sons and
daughters-in-law, Bobby and Barbara Coker, Jasper, Brian and Darlene
Coker, Hinton Community, and Chris Coker, Tate; daughter and
son-in-law, April and Roger Marlow, Tate; brother, Tommy Coker,
Bremen, Ga.; sisters, Terri Ruth Potts, Dawsonville, Sue Samples and

Portia Romine
Mrs. Portia Romine, age 53 of Jasper, passed away Monday
evening, April 25, 2005 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include her husband, Mac Romine, Jasper; father,
Rupert Turner, Cumming; brother, Larry Turner, Blue Ridge; brother-
and sister-in-law, Lamar and Patsy Carver; sisters, Marchetta Carnes,
Canton, Lynette Smith, Gainesville, Lanay Foster and Retha Cantrell,
both of Jasper, Brenda Underwood, Dawsonville, Sylvia Chappell,
Bloutensville, Al., Sharon England, Tate, and Telete Rickett,
Cumming. Numerous nieces and nephews and God-grandchildren, Taylor
and Reagan Boling, also survive.
The funeral service was held Thursday, April 28 at 11 a.m.
from the First Christian Church of Jasper with Pastor Tony Boyd
officiating. Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers
were: Steven Foster, Shane Brooks, Thomas Smith, Billy Turner, Jamie
Boling, Bill Jordan, Shawn Loggins and Alford Rickett. Cagle Funeral
