Rose Hampton
Mrs. Rose Marie Bridges Hampton, age 69 of Munice, In., formerly of Tate,
Ga., passed away June 8, 2006.
Survivors include her children, Ron and Becky Hampton, Debra and Larry
Whiting, Elaine Hampton and Bobby and Patricia and Elijah King; and
brothers, Ben, Mark and William Bridges. Five grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Thursday, June 15 from Mt. Calvary Baptist
Church with interment following in Lake Forest Memorial Park in Jasper. Mr.
Ron Hampton officiated. Roper Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Cecil Voyles
Mr. Cecil Voyles, age 62 of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2006
at his residence.
Mr. Voyles was born on July 7, 1943 and was a member of the Sweetwater
Baptist Church in Dawsonville, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Carzelle Voyles, Jasper; son, Lanier Voyles,
Dahlonega; daughters, Rita Pruitt and Candie Voyles, both of Dawsonville,
and Julie Anglin, Ball Ground; step-daughter, Barbara Padgett, Jasper;
brother, Ben Voyles, Dawsonville; sisters, Shirley Howard, Jannett Howard
and Wynelle Morris, all of Jasper; Lucille Evans and Lorene Perry, both of
Dawsonville, and Erlene Burden, Elberton. Eleven grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Saturday, June 24 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with Chaplain David LeGrand and the Rev. William
Blackwell officiating. Pallbearers were: Wendell Howard, David Kirby, James
Hallman Voyles, Roger Brown, Henry Buster Voyles and Steve Burden.
Iva Savage
Mrs. Iva Kathleen Savage, age 76 of Marble Hill, Ga., passed away
Saturday, June 24, 2006 at Redmond Regional Hospital in Rome, Ga.
Survivors include a son, Roger Savage of Lynchburg, Va.; daughters, Patti
Dobson, Marble Hill, Jill Isabel, Armuchee, and Lisa Gentle, Woodstock; and
brother, Nathan L. Norris of Arizona. Nine grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 27 from the Chapel
of Roper Funeral Home with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Smyrna, Ga.
The Revs. James Sanders and Darrel McGunnis officiated.
Paula Foster
Mrs. Paula Jean Foster, age 82 of Alpharetta, formerly of Hammond, La.,
died June 26, 2006.
Born in Hammond to Albert and Mary Hays Tolle, she was a graduate of
Southeastern Louisiana University. She was married to the late R. Mayson
Foster.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Stan Adams of
Talking Rock, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Susan Foster of
Cumming, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Kenneth Anderson of
Monroe, Ga. Four grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, June 28 at noon from the Chapel
of Northside Chapel Funeral Directors in Roswell. The Rev. Mac Caloi
officiated. Interment will be in Hammond at a later date. Those who wish,
may make donations in her memory to Jasper United Methodist Church, 85 W
Church St., Jasper, Ga. 30143.
Faye D. Falgout
Faye Darnell Falgout, a retired employee of AT&T, died Saturday at
Slidell Memorial Hospital. She was 93.
Mrs. Falgout was born in Talking Rock, Ga. and lived in New Orleans for
the past 56 years. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia. She was
a founding member of Faith Baptist Church of New Orleans.
Survivors include her husband, Rene A. Falgout; son, Robert R. Falgout;
and daughter, Melinda Falgout McWhite. Four grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held last Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. at Jacob Schoen
& Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St.
Donna Forrest
Mrs. Donna E. Forrest, age 70 of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, June 22,
2005 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include her mother, Betty Fiorita, Erie, Pa; daughters, Rose
Ann Forrest and Rachel Forrest, both of Jasper; brother, Donald Klein, Erie,
Pa; grandchildren, Latasha Buchanan, Olivia and Daniel Forrest.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25 from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Duckett officiating. Interment
followed in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery. The following served as
pallbearers: Jason Gaddis, Jonathan Selley, Wesley Dean, Keith Buckner, Joe
Bennett and Greg Padgett. The family did accept flowers or donations may be
made to help with the funeral expenses.
Weldon Brooks
Mr. Weldon Digger Brooks, age 81 of Blue Ridge, formerly of Jasper,
Passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at Fannin Regional hospital.
Survivors include his brothers, Eugene and Jim Brooks, both of Jasper,
and Ernest Brooks, Dawsonville; sisters, Ethel Norton, Blue Ridge, Marie
Fountain, Hickory Flat, Opalene Parton, Cumming, Lemer Graves, Lathemtown,
and Pat Roberts, Pleasant Plains, Ar.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 24 from the Chapel of
Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Carl Owenby and Howard Cantrell
officiating. Interment followed in County Line Baptist Church Cemetery. The
following served as pallbearers: Richie Erwin, Jeff Parton, Jeremy Davis,
Coy, James and Josh Norton.
Mary Laird
Mrs. Mary C. Laird, age 74 of Jasper, passed early Wednesday morning,
June 22, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Angie Price,
Memphis, Tn.; daughter, Deborah Shipp, Jasper. Six grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service was held Saturday, June 25 at 4 p.m. from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. David Wilson officiating. A visitation
was held from 2-4 p.m. prior to the memorial service.
Jerry Meyer
Jerry (Papa J) Ray Meyer, age 67 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, June 21,
2005 at Northside Hospital Cherokee in Canton, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Meyer, Jasper; parents, Lloyd and Juanita
Meyer, Eagle Grove, Ia.; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Debbie Meyer,
Sarasota, Fl., Mark and Beth Meyer, Erie Co., and Rick and Karen Nadeau,
Summerstown, Ontario; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and William
Lanford, Oakman, Ga., and Chris and Ed Shelander, Clearwater, Fl.; brothers,
Lloyd Meyer II, Carefree, Ar., and Don Meyer, Chicago, Il; grandchildren,
Steve, Ben, Rachael, Milena and Eric Ray Meyer, Jessica Nadeau, Wesley and
Daniel Lanford and James Arick Nadeau.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25 at Sunrise
Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Ga. with the Rev. Bob Self officiating. In lieu

Nelle Mathis
Mrs. Nelle J. Mathis, age 88 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday morning, June
21, 2005 at Grandview Health Care Center in Jasper.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William F. and Pam Mathis,
Hickory, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Kitty and Robert Baldwin, Jasper;
sister, Martha Ireland, Knoxville, Tn.; and grandchildren, Amanda, Amber,
Emily and Gordon.
A graveside service was held Friday, June 24, at 11 a.m. from Colters
Memorial Cemetery in Casandra, Ga. (Walker County) with the Rev. Charles O.
Walker officiating. Pallbearers were: Gordon Baldwin, Ray Ferrell, Bud
Denson, Walt Doster, David Stewart and Glenn Mullinax. In lieu of flowers,
please make donations to the Jasper First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Kevin Hamil
Mr. Kevin Brian Hamil, age 46, born April 9, 1959, passed away suddenly
Friday, June 24, 2005 at his residence in Big Canoe, Ga.
Mr. Hamil graduated from Cross Keys High School in 1977. He worked for
Carter & Assoc. at Kimberly Clark as building engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Heidi Hamil; mother, JoAnn Goodroe; brother,
Ken Hamil, all of Big Canoe; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Sharon
Hamil, Suwanee; niece, Alison; nephew, Nicholas; aunts, Karen Waters and
Dick and Jan Wheeler and Bill; great-aunt, Kathy McKinney. Many other family
members also survive. He was loved by all.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Calvin R. Hamil; grandparents,
Fermer and Jack Hamil and Mabel and Clem Benning.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 30 from Big
Canoe Chapel with Dr. Jim McCormick and the Rev. Lamar Helms officiating.
Interment will follow in the Big Canoe Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you may

Devon Bogue
Mr. M. Devon Bogue, age 80 of Big Canoe, Ga., passed away Sunday, June
19, 2005 at North Fulton Regional Hospital, Roswell, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Antonetta (Mary) Bogue, Big Canoe; sons, M.
Devon Bogue, Jr., Garden City, Ga., and Stephen A. Bogue, Guyton, Ga.;
daughters, Pam Coffey, Cartersville, and Lisa Gastineau, Sandy Springs;
brother, William O. Bogue, San Diego, Ca. Seven grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 24 from Big Canoe
Chapel with Dr. Jim McCormick and the Rev. Lamar Helms officiating.
Following the service, a reception was held in the Broyles Center.
Mr. Bogue was director of the Environmental Health Division for Fulton
County Health Department. He planned and directed a program for
investigating environmental health hazards. He advised engineers,
architects, property owners and plant operators on public health problems,
outlined measures necessary to comply with health requirements, supervised a
program of food sanitation control and nuisance complaints.
Mr. Bogue received a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Georgia
Tech and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of California
at Berkley. He had more than 22 years of professional experience in solid
waste management and environmental engineering. He was regional
environmental control director of the US Environmental Control
Administration.
Mr. Bogue served with the Communicable Disease Center, Public Health
Service, spending the remainder of his career in Washington, DC for one year
and retired in Atlanta after 27 years. He held executive positions with
private engineering firms doing solid waste management and resource recovery
programs nation-wide. He had worked with the Pickens County Keep Pickens
Beautiful. Professional affiliations he was a member of were: American
Public Works Association, the National Institute for Solid Waste and the
USPHS Commissioner Officers Association.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the
American Heart Association, Pickens County Chapter, PO Box 672648, Marietta,

James McDaniel
Mr. James Lloyd McDaniel, age 75 of Fairmount, Ga., departed this life Thursday morning, June 29, 2006 at his home.
Lloyd was born March 30, 1931 in Pickens County, Ga., son of the late Will and Mitchie Brooks McDaniel. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Annie Ruth Mulkey McDaniel; daughter, Sally Sanford; sisters, Flara Boling, Jewell Stone and June Johnson; and brothers, Doyle and Jimmy McDaniel.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Bonita McDaniel and Marvin and Linda McDaniel, all of Fairmount, Doug and Brenda McDaniel, Rydal, Danny and Kay McDaniel and James McDaniel, all of Ranger, and Junior and Karen Payne, Calhoun; daughters and sons-in-law, Retha and Roger Chastain and Janice Smith, all of Fairmount, Deborah and Donald Mathews, Calhoun, Angela and Shane Kirby, Ranger, and Margaret Bradley, Adairsville. Twenty-eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, July 2 at 2 p.m. from Friendship Baptist Church in Ludville with the Rev. Bobby Timms officiating. He was laid to rest by his beloved wife in the church cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers. The Fairmount Chapel of Ponders Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.
Charles W. Roland
Mr. Charles W. Roland, age 60 of Nelson, Ga., passed away Friday, July 7, 2006 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Roland; sons, Curtis (Peggy) and Thomas Ray; daughters, Denise Cruhshank and Susan Lawson (Scott); brothers, Leroy, Jerry and Gerald Roland; sisters, Kathy Edmonson and Susie Spriggs. Seven grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, July 10 at 2 p.m. at Faith Chapel on Marion Spence Road in Ball Ground, Ga. with the Revs. Leroy Blackwell and Luke Wheeler officiating. Entombment followed in Lake Forest Memorial Park Mausoleum on Camp Road in Jasper. Pallbearers were Ray Jones, Henry Abernathy, Darl Whitt, Terry Goode, Eugene Davis, Jimmy Sheffield, Leroy Stenbery and Butch Gaddis. Honorary pallbearers were James Raye and Elijah Lawson. Roper Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Paul Heath
Mr. Paul Heath, age 84, passed away Friday, June 30, 2006 in Murray County as a result of an auto accident.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Boyd "Bus" and Lois Heath. Two nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 5 from Four Mile Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Beck, Charles Gay and William Blackwell officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Willard Buchanan
Mr. Willard Buchanan, age 58 of Auburn, Ga., formerly of Marble Hill, passed away Friday, June 30, 2006. He was the son of Harley and Lottie Buchanan.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Buchanan of Auburn; daughters, Judy Short of Chattanooga, Tn. and Kristie Buchanan of Jasper; step-sons, William and Johnny Smith; step-daughters, Sandy Stewart and Tammy Hockman; brother, Dillard Buchanan of Marble Hill; sisters, Marjorie Howell, Cumming, Ga., Foustine (Polly) Duckett, Ball Ground, and Marcille Bozeman, Marble Hill; grandchildren, Keith and Kimmie Short, Chattanooga. One step-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service was held Thursday, July 6 at 7 p.m. from the Chapel of Carters Funeral Home in Winder, Ga. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Gertrude Fulmer
Mrs. Gertrude Elizabeth Fulmer, age 89 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Saturday, July 8, 2006 at her residence.
Survivors include her daughters, Margy Lohman of Jasper and Linda Miller of New Jersey. Five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Jasper. The body was sent back to Cochran Funeral Home in Hackettstown, N.J. for services.
