Magdalene Young
Mrs. Magdalene G. Young, age 71 of Fairmount, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2006.
Survivors include her special friend, Albert Dodd of Fairmount; aunt, Emoulise Townsend; and several cousins.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 30 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Eric Mayo and Chaplain Chas Childers officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Pickens County.

Mary Keller
Mary Hendrixson Keller passed away August 29, 2005 from complications
with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born Oct. 24, 1924.
Survivors include her husband, W. Jan Keller; two sons and
daughters-in-law, David and Becky Denney Keller of Big Canoe, Ga. and
Stephen and Judy Addy Keller of Duluth, Ga.; grandchildren, Elaine Griffith
of Syracuse, N.Y., Craig Griffith of Fort Wayne, In., Kris Griffith of St.
George, Vt., Benjamin Griffith of Las Cruces, N.M., Nick Keller of Atlanta,
Ga., Michael Keller of Duluth, Ga., Keri Joelle and Danielle Keller of
Marine City, Mi., one brother, Paul Lesher of Kansas City, Ks.; and two
sisters, Margaret Looney of Chickasha, Ok. and Bettye Jackson of Tulsa, Ok.
She is also survived by three grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Rosary at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday,
August 31 at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home in Marietta. The funeral
Mass will be at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Kennesaw, Ga. at
11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1. Burial will be in Georgia Memorial Park
Cemetery in Marietta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
Alzheimer’s Association, 1925 Century Blvd., NE, Atlanta, Ga. 30345.

Odelle Pool
Mrs. Odelle Poole, age 82 of Ball Ground, passed away at her residence in
Ball Ground August 28, 2005. She was of the Baptist faith and retired
manufacturer employee.
Survivors include her children, Alvin Pool, Marble Hill, Nancy Sawyer,
Acworth, John Pool, Ball Ground, Richard Pool, Jasper, Perry Pool, Green
Cove Springs, Fl., and Ann Burrell, Savannah; sister, Georgia (Jo) Fortner,
Acworth. Thirteen grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. August 31 from Sosebee Funeral
Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Greg Long officiating. Interment will follow
in Cherokee Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to
North Georgia Mountain Hospice, PO Box 580, Jasper, Ga. 30143.

Robert Spriggs
Mr. Robert Spriggs, age 63 of Ball Ground, passed away on Saturday,
August 27, 2005 at his residence. He was a member of Ophir Baptist Church
and a saw miller for Harris Lumber Co.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Spriggs of Ball Ground; son and
daughter-in-law, James R. and Jan Spriggs of Ball Ground; daughter and
son-in-law, Robin and Tim Wofford of Ball Ground; mother, Gartie Spriggs of
Ball Ground; brothers, Hugh and Lamar Spriggs, both of Ball Ground, and J.M.
Spriggs of Cumming; sisters, Mardell O’Bryant, Louise Waters, Annette
Wofford, Roseleen West and Janice Fann, all of Ball Ground. Five
grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces, nephews and cousins,
and special cousin, Junior Smith, also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 30 from the Ophir
Baptist Church with the Revs. Troy Milford and Clyde Boling officiating.
Interment was in the church cemetery under the direction of Sosebee Funeral
Home, Canton.

Ruby Hagin
Mrs. Ruby Lee Pettit Hagin, age 85 of Ball Ground, Ga., passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at her home.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Billy Roy and Annette Hagin of Center Alabama; and a daughter, Kathleen Biddy of Ball Ground. Seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 31 from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Interment followed in Flint Hill Cemetery in Gilmer County.

Jonathon Payne
Master Jonathon Patrick Payne, age 11 of Hapeville, Ga., passed away at Hugh Spalding Children's Hospital.
Jonathon is survived by his parents, Jon and Sue Payne, Hapeville; grandparents, Arnold and Hariett Williams of North Carolina; brothers, Timothy and Michael Payne, both of Hapeville, and Adam Payne, Peachtree City.
A graveside service was held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006 at the Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Tate, Ga. with Pastor Stephen Carroll officiating. Roper Funeral Home of Jasper was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Olen Fountain
Mr. Olen Fountain, age 85 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Northside Hospital-Cherokee in Canton.
Survivors include his wife, Estelle Fountain, Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, James T. and Darline Fountain, Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ralph Poole, Jasper; brothers, Oliver and Omen Fountain, both of Jasper; sisters, Ora Grace Wright, Canton, and Onor Jane Tippens, Jasper. Four grandchildren, Lisa Watkins, Casey and Carla Poole and Scott Fountain; five great-grandchildren, Justin Watkins, Jenna Watkins Eubanks, Kaitlyn Poole and Ayden and Jackson Fountain; and two great-great-grandchildren, Gracie Watkins and Elijah Eubanks, also survive.
Pallbearers were: Ralph and Casey Poole, Scott Fountain, Jerry and Justin Watkins and Kyle Eubanks. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Troy Mooney
Mr. Troy Mooney, age 65 of Dawsonville, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2006 as the result of an auto accident.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Mooney, Dawsonville; mother, Vercel Mooney, Woodstock; sons, Cotes Mooney, Jasper, and William Mooney, Jefferson, Ga.; daughters, Shelia Hill, Dawsonville, and Pam Millwood, Dallas; sister, Frances Waters, Woodstock. Eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3 from Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Dawson County with the Revs. Gary Keown, Steve Chadwick and John Henderson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Tony Kent, Ralph Fitts, Leon and Rodney Bearden, Lee Elrod, Donnie Waters and Eugene Martin. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Ollie Foster
Miss Ollie Mae Foster, age 79 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at her residence.
Survivors include her brother, Wilburn Foster, Marble Hill, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1 from Arbor Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Chester, William Faucett and Greg Long officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Mikle Foster, Ronnie Parker, Shane and Anthony Johnson, Leonard Waters and Benson Smith. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Emily Wheeler
Mrs. Emily Wheeler, age 69 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2006 at her residence.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Lori Bazzell and George F. Wheeler, Jr., all of Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Harold Proctor, Jasper, and Beverly and Tony Gayton, Tate; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and J.W. Dobson, Jasper. Six grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survives.
The funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Martin officiating. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The following served as pallbearers: Jeff, Greg and John Dobson, Tim and Sam Callahan, Jacob VanSant and Nathan Gayton.

Debra Ray
Mrs. Debra Quarles Ray, age 51 of Ball Ground, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2006 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley Ray, Ball Ground; son, Jamie Ray, Ball Ground; daughters, Jean Fuston, Ball Ground, and Ann Mitchell, Woodstock; brothers, Larry and Jack Quarles, Jr., both of Ball Ground, and Jackie Quarles, Jasper; sisters, Lynn Tidwell, Jasper, Evelyn Stuart, Robin Cowart and Judy Williams, all of Ball Ground, and Connie Freeman, Chatsworth. Six grandchildren also survive, Danielle, Trey and Jaden Mitchell, Cypris, Trinity and Elijah Fuston.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Alton Burrell officiating. Interment followed in Cherry Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Ball Ground. Pallbearers were: Eric Stuart, Johnny Tidwell, Harell Mitchell, Jr., Dennis Freeman, Dale Fuston and James Quarles, Jr. Honorary pallbearer was Billy Wofford.

Bill Tanner
Mr. Billie Edward Tanner, age 68 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Sept. 3,
2005 at the VA Medical Center.
Bill was born on Nov. 28, 1936 in Atlanta. He was a Realtor/ Tanner
Realty. He also taught real estate classes at the community college. Bill
was preceded in death by his father, William Tanner; brother, Kenneth Eugene
Tanner in 1941; and step-father, Coyle Porch.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Ruth Porch of Dallas, Ga.; brother,
Robert Porch of Ellijay, Ga.; and sister, Patricia Ponders of Auburn, Al.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The body was cremated. No services are planned at this time. Cremains
were interred at the Flint Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, contributions can be made to the Community Food Bank of Jasper.
Arrangements were by Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home.

Exzoda Goodwin
Mr. Exzoda Goodwin, age 84 of Jasper, passed away Monday, August 29, 2005
at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Goodwin, Jasper; son, Edward Goodwin,
Ball Ground; two step-sons, Gene Carlisle, Cherry Log, and Mike Carlisle,
Alabama; daughter, Patsy Mason, Jasper; and brother, Luther Goodwin,
Cartersville. Nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 from the Gospel
Temple in Ball Ground with the Revs. Don Williams and LeRoy Blackwell
officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The following served
as pallbearers: Gene and Mike Carlisle, David Goodwin, Andrew Willoughby and
Jonathan and Chris Mason. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lois Cox
Lois Faye Cox, age 79 of Gainesville, Ga., passed away Tuesday, August
30, 2005 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Miss Cox was born in Pickens County, Ga. to the late Quillian A. Cox and
Lemma Duncan Cox and lived in Gainesville since her childhood. She attended
Gainesville High School, LaGrange College and Brenau College. Her entire
career was with Pacolet-Milliken Mills where she retired as Human Resource
director of the Sibley Mill in Lavonia, Ga. Miss Cox was of the Baptist
faith and was active at First Baptist Church of Gainesville where she was a
member of the Agape Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was a long-time
volunteer at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Always active, Miss Cox was a
member of the BULLI Club, was an avid golfer and member of the Chattahoochee
Women’s Golf Association, a member of Pilot International and always enjoyed
her bridge clubs. She had much love and affection for her family and
friends.
Miss Cox was preceded in death by her sisters, L.M. Cox DeLong and Gladys
Cox Chambers; and her brothers-in-law, Bob Chambers and James Farmer.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2 from the Chapel
of the First Baptist Church with interment at 2 p.m. at Corinth Baptist
Church Cemetery in Pickens County. Dr. Bill Coates officiated. In lieu of
flowers, those who wish may contribute to the Third Century Building Fund of
the First Baptist Church, 751 Green Street NW, Gainesville, Ga. 30501.
Memorial Park Funeral Home of Gainesville in charge of arrangements.

Elder James Pruitt
Elder James F. Pruitt, age 61 of Ball Ground, passed away Sept. 1, 2005.
Elder Pruitt was the pastor of the Boiling Springs Primitive Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Talmadge C. Pruitt.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Womack Pruitt; daughters and
sons-in-law, Denise and Phil Fox of Ball Ground and Tammy and David Haney of
Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Dawn Pruitt; mother, Addie
Lee Pruitt; sisters, Faye Jones, Joan Glaze and Bekki Dinsmore, all of
Cumming; brothers, Donald Pruitt of Silver City and Lamar Pruitt of
Dawsonvile. Twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also
survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Northside
Funeral Chapel with Elders R.E. Cagle, Don Farris, Danny Cagle and Ray
Wagner officiating. Interment was in the Lake Forest Memorial Park in
Jasper. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either the Boiling
Springs Primitive Baptist Church or a Pickens County Primitive Baptist
Church. Northside Chapel Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Frank Leslie
Mr. Frank Leslie, age 84 of Talking Rock, passed away Wednesday, August
31, 2005 at his home under Hospice Care. His memorial service will be held
at Jasper United Methodist Church on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. with the
Rev. Jerry Peele officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Panama
City, Fl. where Mr. Leslie lived for many years.
A native of Indianapolis, Mr. Leslie was a man of many accomplishments.
He flew the B-17 bomber, the famed Flying Fortress, during World War II.
After returning from the Air Force he worked as a banker for 20 years. Then,
after losing his first wife, Mr. Leslie entered nursing school at age 59 in
a desire to help others facing health problems.

He was active in his churches over the years working the sound system and volunteering for blood drives. He also assisted in the community by helping the elderly prepare their taxes and as an election day poll worker. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Lois Leslie; three sisters, Rosemary Hamilton, Jean Wiley and Martha Myers, who reside in Indianapolis; step-daughter, Deborah Valentine and her husband Howard. Also surviving are two grandchildren, 10 nieces and nephews and 18 grand-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jasper United
Methodist Church, 85 W Church Street, Jasper, Ga. 30143. Cagle Funeral Home
in charge of arrangements.

Walter Brown
Mr. Walter James Brown, age 51 of Talking Rock, Ga., passed away Sunday,
Sept. 4, 2005 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Brown; sons, Bobby Shane Iler and
James Boyd Brown; daughter, Amy Diana Brown; brothers, McKinley and Joe Neal
Brown; and sister, Joan Kirby. Six grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 from the
Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Yellow Creek
Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Leroy Kelley will officiate.

Harold House
Mr. Harold House, age 60 of Jasper, passed at his residence Saturday
afternoon Sept. 3, 2005.
Surviving are the wife, Alice House of Jasper; sons, Anthony and Jamie
House, both of Jasper; daughter-in-law, Debbie House of Jasper; Brothers and
sisters-in-law, Ernest and Darlene House and Charles and Linda House, all of
Rockmart, Clyde and Carolyn House of Loganville and Gene and Doris House of
Duluth; sister, Mattie Bell Beaver of Cartersville, sisters-in-law,
Elizabeth, Dot and Jennie; granddaughter, Julie House. Mr. House was
preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Robert, Melvin and Floyd House.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel
of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Bobby Tims and Wendell Owens
officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Baptist church (Ryo)
Cemetery with Chucky Simmons, Junior Kinser, Jerry and Joe Hightower,
Clinton Long, Danny House, Danny Childers and James Rowdy Stanley serving as
pallbearers.

Tiffany Cochran
Miss Tiffany Cochran, age 19 of Ball Ground, passed Thursday morning,
Sept. 1, 2005 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.
Survivors include her mother, Mary L. Cochran, Marble Hill; and sister,
Heather Cochran, also of Marble Hill.
The funeral service was held Sunday, Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of
Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Hyde officiating. Interment followed
in Mica Baptist Church Cemetery with Thomas Wigington, Jesse Howard, Kevin
and Kelly Blackwell, Leon Bearden and Walter Pruett serving as pallbearers.
